Summary

In 2018, Canada will receive more than 55,000 asylum applications, compared to 50,000 in 2017 and about 23,800 in 2016. This means Canada could accept more than double the number of refugees it laid out in its annual immigration plan submitted to Parliament.

00:00:00.000 Canada will receive more asylum applications in 2018 than any previous year since the Immigration
00:00:14.240 Refugee Board started tracking this information in 1989. This after 6,465 asylum seekers submitted
00:00:23.440 applications in October alone. Well, so much for Immigration Minister Ahmed Hassan's assertion
00:00:30.080 that the numbers were going down and the Trudeau government had everything under control. Remember
00:00:35.760 this? They're saying, you know, critics are saying that your government's plan is not adequately
00:00:41.440 working, that this is not a sustainable way to manage this issue. First of all, I would point
00:00:48.560 those folks. It's fair to have concerns about asylum seekers, but the fact of the matter is the
00:00:55.280 numbers have gone down 75 percent. So if our plan was not working, why are the numbers down? Well,
00:01:00.080 actually, the numbers are up this time. I'm talking about the numbers compared to last year.
00:01:07.200 Well, you're talking month to month. If you're talking year over year, there's actually more
00:01:10.480 asylum seekers that have crossed into Canada this year compared to this time last year.
00:01:13.600 Well, this year, Canada will receive more than 55,000 refugee applications,
00:01:22.720 compared to 50,000 in 2017 and about 23,800 in 2016. Now, before Trudeau became prime minister,
00:01:31.120 the numbers were much lower. In 2015, there were 16,000 applications submitted, 13,400 in 2014,
00:01:39.840 and around 10,300 in 2013. So why the five-fold increase in just a few years? Well, we know,
00:01:47.840 prime minister sent out his infamous tweet in January 2007, inviting the world's refugees to come to
00:01:53.360 Canada. Since then, over 100,000 self-selected and unscreened migrants have taken him up on that offer.
00:02:01.040 Over 40,000 of these migrants have crossed the border illegally from the United States.
00:02:05.920 These asylum seekers fall outside Canada's official targets for immigration and refugee numbers.
00:02:12.640 This means Canada could accept more than double the number of refugees it laid out in its annual
00:02:17.760 immigration plan that it submitted to Parliament. The Trudeau government told Canadians we'd welcome
00:02:22.720 43,000 refugees in 2018. Instead, we'll welcome more like 98,000, most of whom have not been determined to
00:02:30.560 be legitimate refugees, but they'll nonetheless be given the exact same benefits. Now, because of this
00:02:37.200 surge, and because of the government's incompetence, there are now more than 64,000 migrants waiting in
00:02:43.360 a backlog to have their case heard before an immigration judge. It'll take years, possibly even a decade,
00:02:49.680 to get through all of these applications. By the time some of these cases are ruled upon,
00:02:54.560 the claimants will have already started a life in Canada, making it nearly impossible to deport them.
00:03:00.560 Others will have just disappeared completely, fallen into criminal gangs and other networks.
00:03:06.080 Look, there's mounting evidence that Canada has lost control of its immigration program.
00:03:12.320 An increasingly large portion of migrants coming to Canada were not screened and they were not vetted.
00:03:18.080 They were not rescued from a war zone, nor were they selected based on merit or skills that could
00:03:24.080 help contribute to our country. Instead of helping the most needy, our refugee system today seems to be
00:03:30.800 aimed at helping the most sophisticated opportunists, those who deliberately break our laws, jump the
00:03:37.280 immigration queue, and bypass our legal immigration system. And we're deliberately rewarding them for this
00:03:44.640 bad behavior. The Trudeau government has rolled out the red carpet, and from the moment these migrants
00:03:50.880 illegally enter Canada, the government holds their hand and treats them like they're staying at an
00:03:55.920 all-inclusive resort. The RCMP at times look like bellhops, helping migrants with their luggage.
00:04:03.280 Migrants register and are given ground transportation to the city of their choosing, be it Montreal or Toronto.
00:04:09.360 They stay at expensive hotels courtesy of the taxpayer and receive immediate and free access to healthcare,
00:04:16.960 education, language classes, and generous welfare payments. The Trudeau government is trying so hard
00:04:24.160 to accommodate these migrants that they're actually creating more incentives for people to come and
00:04:29.200 break our laws. The nicer that we are and the more that we give to migrants, the more migrants we'll have
00:04:35.120 arriving on our doorstep. Through its actions and through its programs, the Trudeau government is
00:04:40.800 encouraging migrants to break our laws and jump the immigration queue. Former Prime Minister Stephen
00:04:47.280 Harper recently did an in-depth interview with American Conservative journalist Ben Shapiro. On the
00:04:52.960 topic of immigration, Harper made the case for broad, illegal immigration that helps the economy and
00:04:59.760 benefits all Canadians. He had one caveat though. He said no to illegal immigration.
00:05:06.000 I'm fundamentally pro-immigration. I think one of the things that has made Canada, the United States
00:05:10.800 and our society successful is that we embrace newcomers who often, you know, frankly, are often
00:05:16.640 conservatives. They're entrepreneurial, they're ambitious, they're aspirational, they believe in
00:05:20.960 family, they believe in faith, they're opposed to crime, etc. So I actually think properly done,
00:05:27.520 immigrants should be a really great base for a conservative party. But first and foremost,
00:05:33.440 immigration has to be legal. Immigration is not a right. Immigration is something granted by the
00:05:38.560 citizens of the country through law. I have no time for illegal immigration. And as I've told other
00:05:43.600 leaders in other countries, no illegal immigration system or phenomenon will ever be popular with a
00:05:49.120 mass of people. Many Canadians feel the exact same way. We have no time for illegal immigration.
00:05:57.520 This is not a trip tozilla, yeah, it feels much like Coca-Cola.
00:06:02.800 So I have no time for math to Cambodian patients.
00:06:04.480 There are people that can fra, all Americans say, that a Japanese place is
00:06:05.440 apostle, invariant He, my CEO, a activist, a company, that people have got it.
00:06:09.280 Then UNF pumped up your name at另 Taxa Cossea and the Kweli.
00:06:17.680 oirło News, parents are hypotheticals of Maoists ofalached over Pakeli.
