00:00:00.000 Canadian public sector unions have declared war on Justin Trudeau and you won't believe over what
00:00:11.220 issue? Is it about their pay? Is it about their vacation days? Nope, it's over Venezuela. Just
00:00:18.880 when the liberal government gets something right, the public sector workers, some of the leading
00:00:23.580 progressive voices in our country, leading progressive activists, they turn on him.
00:00:29.280 Trudeau generally hasn't found a left-wing cause that he doesn't like, and we know that he said that
00:00:34.100 soft eulogy for Fidel Castro. We know he said that he admires China's basic dictatorship, but apparently
00:00:40.620 the awful legacy of Hugo Chavez that has been continued by the Nicolas Maduro regime in Venezuela
00:00:46.120 is just too much for the liberal government. And Christia Freeland has shown real leadership on the
00:00:50.600 file. She has made some strong remarks on it, and she was co-host to the Lima Conference. Those are
00:00:55.260 foreign affairs ministers from North and South America talking about how to get Maduro out.
00:01:00.980 Today, we have been joined by our Lima Group partners from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia,
00:01:09.760 Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Saint Lucia.
00:01:18.120 This isn't some CIA coup. These are the neighboring countries beside Venezuela who say,
00:01:23.840 we gotta get this guy out, and the many, many thousands of people who are taking to the streets
00:01:28.840 to protest his authoritarian rule. What's the problem? Sounds like democracy in action,
00:01:35.840 people finally trying to get a dictator out who did elections last year that are deemed fraudulent.
00:01:41.340 This new guy's gonna come in, and he will be tasked with calling elections to authenticate his
00:01:46.120 rule or to bring in another leader. But guess what? Our major public service unions,
00:01:52.340 they won't stand for this. CUPE, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, represents hundreds of
00:01:57.140 thousands of people, and they are throwing down the gauntlet for Justin Trudeau. You will not believe
00:02:02.020 some of the things that they have said. Saying Maduro was duly elected by the president of Venezuela,
00:02:07.660 by the people of Venezuela, pardon me. Saying it rejects any attempt by the Canadian government
00:02:12.600 to interfere with the democratic processes and sovereignty of the Venezuelan people. Given the
00:02:18.900 history of U.S. involvement in the region, the actions of Guaido have all the signs of a coup d'etat.
00:02:26.160 We warn Prime Minister Justin Trudeau against playing any role in bringing about regime change in another
00:02:33.420 country. Wow. And they're backed up by some other unions, like the Canadian Labour Congress,
00:02:38.820 and also the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. Yep, the posties, the same ones who use their
00:02:44.980 members' money to go to conferences in Venezuela where they sing the praises of socialism. It's
00:02:51.360 unbelievable that there's a leftist cause that is just too much for Justin Trudeau, and yet our unions
00:02:57.200 are jumping into them. I'm going to wager that the hundreds of thousands of Canadian workers who are
00:03:02.600 part of these unions, they actually don't support Nicolas Maduro and the legacy of Hugo Chavez.
00:03:08.720 I'm going to bet that they're actually outraged to see that their money is being spent to endorse
00:03:12.980 this sort of stuff. Well, they should speak up, and they should say they're not going to tolerate it
00:03:17.560 from their union anymore.
