00:14:58.900What could be so bad about Wuhan, China?
00:15:01.520We're in a new age of cooperation with the Chinese government.
00:15:04.740hasn't she read that in the news that there's a new world order and Canada and China are going to
00:15:10.260be a part of that together? What's so bad about China? Then you have this interesting case here,0.75
00:15:18.540Sukvir Singh. Now he's been in Canada, according to the CBC article, on a temporary work permit
00:15:24.840for eight years. He just had a baby seven months ago, which is really convenient if you ask me.
00:15:31.740the article says quote he isn't sure what he and his wife and their seven month old daughter will
00:15:37.760do if his work permit expires before an extension is granted he isn't sure what to do well there is
00:15:45.160one option of course and that is to leave canada when your temporary visa expires to go back to
00:15:51.060india again like with china what could be so bad about moving back home to india it's a democracy
00:15:59.380after all. But in the very likely scenario that all of these people on expiring permits decide0.63
00:16:07.340to stay in Canada to not leave, thereby breaking the law, obviously they're going to have to be
00:16:14.120deported. Not to worry, take a look at this clip from the newly minted Deputy Minister of Immigration
00:16:20.240in Canada at a committee meeting yesterday. He was outlining the federal government's deportation
00:16:25.980plan the problem with the plan of course is that it relies on these illegals to deport themselves
00:16:34.140take a listen you mentioned encouraging people to do the right thing and if you could further
00:16:40.700elaborate on that i think that would be great because to do the right thing ultimately is the
00:16:46.860right thing but to get people to do that can sometimes be a lot more easier said than done
00:16:53.100So what are some steps that you would take to encourage people to do the right thing?
00:16:57.480Well, the first is you can't rely on people doing the right thing totally.
00:17:00.980And so there has to be a consequence past that, actually.
00:17:03.520And so we have to make sure that there's a full continuum from telling people the rules to reminding them nicely to reminding them forcefully.
00:17:10.640And then we have to ensure there's a follow-through.
00:17:12.500And I know the CBSA has made efforts to increase enforced removals.
00:17:17.520And so, you know, part of it is the threat of no return visa.
00:17:22.320And so to be really candid and direct, we have to make sure that that's a real threat.
00:17:28.160We have to make sure that IRCC is applying that rigorously and then use that to kind of nudge people to do the right thing.
00:17:35.220And so I think back to the question about culture change, we can't fully rely on people to do the right thing.
00:17:40.580I think we want to create opportunities for them to do the right thing.
00:17:43.240I think we want to create an environment that incentivizes them to do the right thing.
00:17:47.060um and then i think we also have to be clear that if they don't in the first instance then there is
00:17:52.040a second and a third instance where more aggressive action is taken i'm sure that will work they've
00:17:56.700only been protesting for two years now when demanding permanent residency when it's time
00:18:02.460to go they'll all just pack up their bags and walk away so let's just summarize this situation right
00:18:09.120now canada imported millions of temporary immigrants into the country either as international students
00:18:16.500temporary foreign workers as part of the international mobility program or as part
00:18:22.180of family reunification over the past few years millions meanwhile young canadians can no longer
00:18:29.680find work unemployment rates for youth in this canada are far too high at the same time the
00:18:37.960federal government sponsored program the canada summer jobs program is literally telling young
00:18:43.540white canadians that their application will be deprioritized if they're not gay or if they're not
00:18:49.140disabled for another equity seeking applicant and to cap it all off the government is expecting
00:18:56.100illegals to deport themselves to voluntarily leave canada they do know that there are approximately
00:19:01.940500 000 illegal immigrants in canada right now it's unbelievable and this is the kind of issue
00:19:07.220that the opposition needs to hammer the federal government on the the line of attack is simple
00:19:14.980the federal government is discriminating against young canadians to score equity points to play
00:19:22.100identity politics with youth jobs telling already hopeless young canadians that because they don't
00:19:29.380tick certain boxes on a form that they will be deprioritized for others the federal government
00:19:37.140is trying to score political points off the backs of unemployed youth. It's as simple as that.
00:19:41.580That's the line of attack. If we can't hammer the federal government on this, honestly, what are we
00:19:48.520doing? It can't be allowed to continue. It's blatant discrimination. Call it out and address it.
00:19:56.220No young Canadian should have their job application delisted or de-ranked because of the color of
00:20:03.660their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation. It goes both ways. It goes across
00:20:09.780the board. But yet, no. In this country, you are allowed to discriminate against people.
00:20:15.800Just one group of people. Unbelievable. All right, everyone, we're going to leave it there.
