00:00:00.560 I'll beat Donald Trump. I will beat him again in 2020.
00:00:04.560 Joe Biden has dug in his heel. The 81-year-old president and the White House are insisting
00:00:09.520 that he will run for a second consecutive term, saying that his devastating debate performance
00:00:14.700 was simply a bad night. Now it seems unlikely that Biden will be able to hold on till November.
00:00:20.200 The calls for him to resign are now coming from inside the House and will only grow as the
00:00:25.020 president continues to make embarrassing gaffes at every public campaign appearance. Now I'm not
00:00:29.940 surprised that a mentally incapacitated elderly man and his power-hungry wife and handlers won't 0.78
00:00:34.840 step aside. If you follow Democratic Party politics for even a second, you won't be surprised either.
00:00:40.360 What's more stunning is the hundreds of liberal elites in Canada and the U.S. who went along with
00:00:45.940 a charade that Biden was up for the job these past four years. Some of these same voices have now
00:00:51.540 turned on Biden after championing him just four years ago when the reality of his age was already
00:00:56.820 apparent to all of us. The same situation played out during COVID. The managerial class only began
00:01:02.420 to wonder if it was time to do away with mask and vaccine mandates when sanity had long prevailed
00:01:07.380 elsewhere in the world. So if even Canadian media elites are turning on Biden, you can bet your bottom
00:01:13.960 dollar that his political career has long been over. I'm Rachel Parker and this is Rachel in the Republic.
00:01:21.540 Okay everyone, and before we dive into today's story, I just wanted to take a little time
00:01:33.280 to explain why we're doing this show and how it's going to differ from some American coverage of the
00:01:39.700 U.S. election and what you can expect to see on Rachel and the Republic in the coming months. You guys
00:01:45.160 already know that Canada and the U.S., our economies are so closely intertwined. A lot of that has to do with
00:01:50.400 trade. Of course, the U.S. is our number one trade partner. If Donald Trump is elected president on
00:01:55.780 November 5th, he has said he will implement a 10% tariff on all imports entering the U.S. That means
00:02:02.060 that Canadian businesses that do a lot of business in the state, sell all their products there, will
00:02:06.660 likely see a decrease in competitiveness and could also potentially eat into their revenues as they have
00:02:13.460 to deal with this 10% tariff. Of course, sectors like automotives, lumber, and agriculture will be
00:02:19.100 disproportionately affected, but there's likewise benefits to a Donald Trump presidency. Trump is a
00:02:25.000 staunch supporter of the energy sector and said he would like to increase production in the U.S.
00:02:29.140 We know that Alberta has been looking to increase production and to get more exports out to America,
00:02:34.200 so they might have an in there if there's a Trump presidency. Of course, you guys know I cover a lot of
00:02:38.880 Alberta news. I'll be keeping a close eye on this. It could also be a good thing for the border crisis.
00:02:43.840 Yes, when we talk about the border crisis, we're usually talking about it in an American context,
00:02:48.280 but we are also running into many issues here in Canada with hundreds of thousands of asylum
00:02:52.820 seekers in our country, and we are paying to put them up at hotels. We are paying for their food. 1.00
00:02:57.820 Many of them are crossing at our southern border. If there's less asylum seekers coming in at the U.S.
00:03:02.420 border and there's been so many more under Biden than under Trump, then we're likely going to see
00:03:06.680 less of them coming up to the north and trying to get into Canada, where we welcome them with open
00:03:11.680 arms and lots of taxpayer dollars. Another issue that we will be paying close attention to is the
00:03:16.360 liberals. They are hoping for a Donald Trump win so that they can scare voters they've lost back into
00:03:23.480 voting for them. We've already seen their desperate efforts to tie federal conservative leader Pierre
00:03:27.980 Poliev to Donald Trump, and we can definitely expect to see more of that. I'll have lots of coverage
00:03:33.040 on that in the coming weeks. In contrast, a Joe Biden presidency will come into conflict with a
00:03:38.120 Pierre Poliev government on issues like the border and, of course, the environmental agenda. So these
00:03:42.080 are just some of the issues that we will be taking a look at over the next few weeks on Rachel in the
00:03:45.900 Republic, and if there's another topic you are hoping to see coverage of, please let me know in the
00:03:49.940 comments below. I do usually read through all those. Now, taking a look at Canadian liberal media who have
00:03:56.380 flipped a script on Joe Biden after championing him just four years ago. Let's start with
00:04:00.000 everyone's favorite paper, the Toronto Star. They were very praiseworthy of Joe Biden back in 2020,
00:04:05.940 and now we've seen their main columnist, Susan Delacorte. She is with the National Press Gallery
00:04:10.900 up in Ottawa where I worked about four years ago. She has been very critical of Biden on X in the last
00:04:15.880 few days. During the debate, she started off this criticism writing, is Joe Biden okay? No, he's not
00:04:22.480 okay. You know that. I know that. We've known that for a while. We were saying that four years ago,
00:04:25.940 saying he shouldn't have run. Then later in the week, there was a story that Biden is trying
00:04:29.860 to reassure Democrats and reassure voters that he's going to be up for the job. Now he's going
00:04:33.500 to start going to bed at eight so he can get more rest, maybe be a little sharper. It doesn't seem
00:04:37.000 to be working. He's still making lots of gaffes in his public appearances.
00:04:40.260 So say that the Pentagon at some point picks up an incoming nuke. It's 11 p.m. Who do you call? The
00:04:48.320 first lady? Are you guys just not since February testing President Biden for Parkinson's or for
00:05:00.120 dementia? Because if he gets a bad result, it's all over that day. All right. Thanks, everybody.
00:05:12.380 In response to that news, Delacour wrote on Twitter, voting results on November 5 are going
00:05:18.440 to go late, just FYI. So what we're seeing here is that the tides have turned and people are largely
00:05:23.620 recognizing that Biden is too old for this job. And we're seeing that liberal media wants to jump on
00:05:28.400 this bandwagon. They weren't willing to point it out four years ago. They were too afraid then to go
00:05:32.880 against the grain. They never want to go against the government talking points. But because everyone
00:05:37.740 is now calling for Biden to step aside and allow for someone younger, even though, as I mentioned
00:05:41.980 last week, it seems like it would largely be too late for the party to do that easily, the liberal
00:05:47.960 media, they feel like it's safe to jump on this bag when they kind of want to, you know, they want to
00:05:51.120 get attention for this. They're trying to be funny. They're trying to be clever. They're trying to join in
00:05:54.560 the momentum of people calling for Biden to resign. It really is too late, especially when you
00:05:58.240 think about what the role of media is. The role of media is to uncover stories and inform Canadians
00:06:03.120 and the opposite is happening. Canadians are forming the media. And after enough Canadians
00:06:07.680 or Americans speak up about an issue, then the media begins covering it because they feel that
00:06:12.140 it is safe to do so. Now we can't talk about Delacorte's coverage of Biden if we didn't talk
00:06:16.280 about what she said back in 2020, just four years ago, when many conservatives were already raising the
00:06:20.720 alarm that Biden was too old. He was going to finish out his first term at 81. And if he did a second
00:06:25.820 term, he would be 85. You know, most people in their 80s, they should be at home, they should be
00:06:30.380 retired. But as we covered last week, you know, Biden's wife, she is very power hungry, sounds like 0.99
00:06:36.780 his handlers around him are not allowing him to really understand the full level of criticism that
00:06:43.460 is being levied at Biden every single day. There's been reports out that are saying that he only has a
00:06:47.920 couple top aides that are in his ear. And he gets upset when they tell him negative coverage of him.
00:06:52.700 So they have learned how to spin the news to make it seem positive all the time. So you know, these
00:06:57.280 are very selfish people, they've done a disservice to to Biden and to the American people and certainly
00:07:02.140 to their party. Here's what Delacorte wrote about Biden and how unselfish she was compared to Donald
00:07:08.320 Trump. Just four years ago, she wrote at the time, quote, at one point, Biden talked about his love of
00:07:12.760 the song called American Anthem, and a particular verse he called profound, at least for me, that small
00:07:18.180 qualifying phrase was a noteworthy departure from a predecessor who made everything all about himself
00:07:23.280 all the time. Even as Trump went aloft in Air Force One for the last time on Wednesday, winging his way
00:07:28.760 to Florida, Frank Sinatra's My Way blasted out of the speakers on the ground. So I mean, obviously,
00:07:34.080 Delacorte has really lost the plot here. I think anytime you're criticizing a Frank Sinatra song, you
00:07:39.340 should just take a step back and really think about what you're saying. One of the best musicians of all
00:07:43.820 time, really no criticism could be levied at anyone ever for playing one of Frank Sinatra's songs. But the
00:07:48.780 great irony here is that she's talking about how unselfish Joe Biden is compared to Donald Trump, when
00:07:53.860 this is someone who is clinging to the presidency with everything he has, even when calls from within
00:07:58.980 the party are coming for him to step down. The American people are saying they don't believe him to be
00:08:04.020 agile enough to complete this job. And here he is clinging to his presidency, and the Democratic Party will
00:08:09.280 lose the election as a result of that. You know, Delacorte really missed the boat on this one.
00:08:13.580 A lot of us recognize that was going to be the case four years ago. She's not the only one.
00:08:17.420 We're also going to take a look at longtime CTV host Evan Solomon. He left that position a few years ago to
00:08:22.920 immediately join the Eurasia Group. Yes, that's the same group that is vice chaired by Justin Trudeau's bestie,
00:08:29.080 Gerald Butts. Again, this is one of those cases where we say that media is biased, and we have
00:08:32.580 suspicions about it. And then when a member of the media who's been working in the media for a long time
00:08:36.580 resigns, they often leave to join a very liberal organization, just as has happened with Solomon.
00:08:41.840 And it sort of just goes to show that our fears about them being very liberal in their coverage
00:08:47.180 were correct all along. So in the last days, Solomon has emerged as a very vocal critic of
00:08:52.300 Biden. Just going to give you a little taste of some of the criticism that he's levied at Biden.
00:08:57.140 He wrote on X,
00:08:58.000 It is a catastrophic turn for the Democrats. And now they have turned on their nominee and Biden
00:09:03.140 has done little, even after a better interview tonight or a good defense of his record to turn
00:09:07.440 it around. He remains in serious trouble and his cognitive ability is still in doubt. He also wrote
00:09:12.540 not sure why Biden thought 15 minutes in a pretty soft and basic interview on the only topic that
00:09:17.300 matters would flip the script. All candidates always believe they can win. But at 81, no matter how
00:09:22.180 strong he looked or his record, do people believe he will be strong at 85? No, people don't believe
00:09:27.500 that. And most people were already warning about this during the 2020 presidential race. They were
00:09:31.720 saying he's too old now. He's going to finish at 81. And then if he wants to run another term,
00:09:35.400 he'll be 85. So for example, here is Solomon commenting on Biden during the 2020 presidential
00:09:40.380 debate. He said, quote,
00:09:41.300 So here Solomon is attacking the exact criticisms that he is now agreeing to four years on. He's
00:09:54.960 agreeing that there's a problem with Biden's cognitive ability. Four years ago, he was gaslighting
00:09:59.680 those of us who were saying there was an issue. And we see this time and time again with liberal
00:10:03.380 media where they ask us to deny something that we can see with our own eyes. The best example of this
00:10:07.500 is of course, always going to be COVID when there were those of us who had concerns about the COVID-19
00:10:12.440 vaccines, about whether there would be vaccine mandates, and of course, the efficacy and safety
00:10:17.360 of the vaccines. We were told that the vaccines were totally safe by the same media who is just now
00:10:23.600 starting to write some negative stories of the COVID-19 vaccines. Of course, we know we were all
00:10:28.080 proven correct. The vaccines were not safe. They were not affected. They were not even tested to stop
00:10:32.220 transmission. And it was just another scenario where a lot of us saw the writing on the
00:10:37.480 wall. And the media told us that we were wrong and tried to gaslight us into believing we were
00:10:42.120 the problem. You probably remember that horrible Toronto Star front page that ran talking about how
00:10:47.560 people who were not vaccinated against COVID-19 deserve to die and how they didn't deserve 0.98
00:10:52.160 coverage. Really sick things. So when you see coverage from these types of papers and these types
00:10:57.100 of reporters, always take everything with a grain of salt because these are people who have proven time
00:11:00.960 and time again not to have the Canadian people's best interests at heart. In contrast, these government
00:11:06.460 funded media are often carrying the government's water and repeating government talking points.
00:11:11.180 So I wasn't the only person to notice this phenomenon. Ben Shapiro was talking about it on
00:11:14.680 Fox News and he really aptly sort of summarized what's going on here with the media being light
00:11:18.780 to the story. Take a listen.
00:11:20.100 But the media at times have been sharply critical of the Biden presidency, the deadly withdrawal
00:11:24.940 from Afghanistan presiding over an open border that took many months to gain traction. So it's not
00:11:31.280 like it's all one sided and it's not like you were supporting him before.
00:11:34.100 No, I think that what you saw in some of these cases, the border in particular was sort of people
00:11:39.020 arriving late on the scene. So the media for the first few months basically denied anything was
00:11:43.340 happening at the border downplayed it. And then, of course, as it became undeniable, then you have
00:11:47.340 to cover it. And I think that's one of the things you're seeing right now is now Biden's decline is
00:11:51.320 undeniable. And so the media now have to cover it because it's totally undeniable. That shouldn't be
00:11:55.820 the job of the media. The media should be first on the scene, not last on the scene. It shouldn't be some
00:11:59.840 rando Twitter account that's covering the news. And six months later, the media are like,
00:12:04.100 wait, that rando Twitter account turns out he was right. It should be the media. They're the
00:12:07.260 ones with the most access. And we talked about the media being very late to the story. Seven
00:12:10.560 Democrats in Congress have now publicly called for Joe Biden to step down. Biden is obviously
00:12:15.500 resisting these calls for now. The lawmakers have told Axios they expect the drumbeat to continue
00:12:20.120 amid a barrage of fears from constituents and donors. And obviously the donor dollars are the
00:12:24.660 things that really push the party forward. You need a massive war chest to fund any campaign and
00:12:29.340 certainly a presidential election campaign. So if donors are now fearful and are pulling back,
00:12:34.120 that's going to really cause the party to continue to apply pressure on Biden and on the handlers
00:12:38.880 around him who are not being honest with him about the situation on the ground. Just another hilarious
00:12:43.180 story from the Daily Wire this week. According to the White House's own official transcripts,
00:12:47.380 President Biden's speaking errors have grown steadily worse with his rate of missteps doubling
00:12:52.060 in the 12 months leading to his disastrous debate performance in June.
00:12:55.760 So the White House actually prepares transcripts of Biden's speeches and remarks and they cross out
00:13:01.460 his erroneous words or insert the word he should have said using brackets. I was actually surprised
00:13:06.060 to learn this. I feel like the White House is so dishonest. I am surprised they don't just try to
00:13:10.220 lie about what he said and make it appear as if he said it right the first time. Obviously it'd be
00:13:13.940 fairly easy for reporters or anyone who's paying attention to fact check them, but that hasn't seemed to
00:13:19.440 bother them in the past. So they had to correct Biden's erroneous words a staggering 51 times in May
00:13:25.460 2024, the month ahead of his debate. He was then whisked out of the public eye for much of June as he was
00:13:30.440 busy preparing for the debate. But you can see this graphic, the red bar represents the rate of his
00:13:34.400 speaking errors per 10,000 words spoken. In the 12 months leading up to the debate, you can just see
00:13:39.240 that trend is spiking upwards. In comparison, in June 2023, the White House corrected 33 errors
00:13:45.040 amounting to an error rate of 3.2 per 10,000 words. The 51 errors in May led to a rate of 7.2
00:13:52.460 for that month when he spoke 70,000 words. So it's doubled. And one of the most hilarious
00:13:58.100 corrections I had to issue at a rally in Madison, Wisconsin, Biden was trying to address the crowd's
00:14:03.940 fears, you know, that he's too old to run. He's repeating that he's going to run against
00:14:07.360 against Donald Trump. And he said,
00:14:09.440 I'll beat Donald Trump. I will beat him again in 2020.
00:14:13.500 So obviously for anyone who's come and they've hoped to see Biden live and to have their fears about
00:14:17.720 his age, a sort of massage, probably the opposite happened here. The sitting US president isn't even
00:14:22.240 really aware of what year it is. Here's another clip from Biden this week. He did this interview
00:14:26.460 with ABC News, largely in an attempt to reassure people that he was up for the job. It was a little bit
00:14:31.820 more well spoken than he was on the debate night, but still fumbling through his words, still trailing
00:14:37.560 off, still lots of awkward and long pauses. My favorite clip from that, I'm going to play for you guys
00:14:41.480 next, is where he's arguing with the host about crowd sizes. It's probably best for anyone running
00:14:46.340 against Donald Trump not to argue about crowd sizes, but Biden went for it anyways. Take a listen.
00:14:50.580 What's your plan to turn the campaign around?
00:14:53.700 You saw it today.
00:14:56.120 How many, how many people you get to draw crowds like I during the day?
00:15:00.340 You find me more enthusiastic than today?
00:15:03.340 Huh? I mean, I don't think you want to play the crowd game. Donald Trump can draw big crowds.
00:15:07.680 There's no question about that.
00:15:08.800 I can draw a big crowd, but what does he say? Who does he have?
00:15:12.840 I'm the guy supposedly in trouble.
00:15:14.260 The best part is that that line at the end there, who, who did he, who does he have? Who does he
00:15:18.180 have? Biden is so bad for always attacking Republican voters. You'd think that as someone
00:15:24.180 who's running for president, he would want to try to attract as many voters as possible,
00:15:27.280 but instead he's constantly insulting Trump's voters. You don't really see Trump do that with
00:15:32.220 a Democrat base. I think he's smart enough to understand that there are people in the middle
00:15:35.680 and you need to win those voters over in order to win the presidency, but that's obviously lost on
00:15:40.720 Biden. He insulted Trump voters during the debate. And here he is insulting again, everyone who's
00:15:45.240 going to show up to a Trump rally. Finally, we've saved the best for last. We're going to talk a
00:15:49.780 little bit about what Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is doing this week on the
00:15:53.980 campaign trail. He was very energized. He held a rally in Florida this week. Now the topic of
00:15:58.880 speculation right now is who Trump is going to pick for his, his vice president. There's been a lot
00:16:03.840 of teasing from him about this. He teased again at that rally saying, everyone thinks I'm going to
00:16:07.920 announce Marco Rubio tonight. And then of course he didn't announce, but we are expecting to get
00:16:11.820 that announcement by Friday. So certainly by the time you're listening to this, the information
00:16:14.980 could be almost out of date, or we could have an answer very soon on who that VP is going to pick. 0.79
00:16:19.920 There has been some speculation. Marco Rubio, as I mentioned, a three-term Senator from Florida is
00:16:24.800 one choice people expect to see. He's been a long time ally of Trump as well. JD Vance, a Senator from
00:16:30.320 Ohio. He's a rising star in the Republican party. He's been a very strong advocate for Trump's
00:16:35.400 populist policies and a very vocal critic of, of the Biden administration. So he's been sort of
00:16:40.780 floated as another possible contender. And finally, Doug Bergman, the governor of North Dakota has been
00:16:45.640 sort of floated. I haven't heard his name quite as much as I've heard JD Vance and Marco Rubio,
00:16:50.520 but certainly that's sort of the exciting announcement everyone is waiting for from the
00:16:53.980 Trump campaign at the moment. And we will probably have that answer for you guys next week,
00:16:58.420 Friday. As I mentioned, he is expected to announce his VP by Friday. So my question of the week for you
00:17:03.940 all is who do you think the VP pick will be? Post your selection in the comment section below.
00:17:08.300 We'll see who the winner is next week. That's all we have time for today. I hope that you guys
00:17:12.200 enjoyed this week's show. If you want to support our work, you can do that over at donate.tnc.news.

00:17:21.120 I'll see you guys next week. Have a great weekend and God bless.
00:17:33.940 Thank you.
