00:00:00.000 Hi Candice Malcolm for True North. I am at Mel Lashman Square in Toronto, Ontario and as you
00:00:11.040 can see behind me, hundreds of Iranians are here to show their support for the protesters in Iran
00:00:17.560 right now. Protests are happening in 155 cities across the country. There was a huge uprising,
00:00:22.560 the regime has cracked down, started killing people, mass arrests, injured thousands of people.
00:00:28.560 So the CBC in Canada has reported that the protests in Iran and the protests here in Toronto are all
00:00:35.760 over US sanctions, sort of saying that Donald Trump is really to blame. Gas rationing and price hikes
00:00:41.280 are angering people in Iran where US sanctions are putting the country's economy at risk. The
00:00:46.960 American sanctions are meant to pressure the Iranian government into giving up its nuclear weapons
00:00:52.880 program and they're hitting the average Iranian hard in the pocketbook. Well let's go talk to
00:00:58.000 some of these Iranians and find out what they're really protesting. CBC reported that the protests
00:01:03.440 are against the US sanctions. Is that true? The the CBC, the unofficial spokesperson of the
00:01:10.720 Liberal Party of Canada can say whatever they want. That's not the fact. You can say that the
00:01:16.240 sanctions are having an indirect effect on the state of the people but that's not what the people are
00:01:20.640 protesting. The people are not protesting Donald Trump. The people are not protesting US sanctions.
00:01:25.760 They're protesting against the repressive regime of the Islamic Republic. They're they're protesting
00:01:30.400 against the mullahs. They're protesting against the clergy. Not against the American people. Not
00:01:35.840 against the American government or any sort of foreign policy. This is in direct relation to the
00:01:40.720 oppression that they're feeling by the regime and only the regime. On the CBC they said that the protests
00:01:46.320 were over US sanctions. Are the people protesting against the US or is it something else? No, no people
00:01:52.320 are not against the sanctions. Actually a lot of Iranian people support the sanctions because they know
00:01:58.880 that only by the sanctions Iranian regime can have no access to the oil and the money that they can
00:02:05.920 get by selling the oil and support the terrorism around the world. So the sanctions didn't really make
00:02:13.440 much. Didn't change much for Iranian people. A lot of Iranians actually support the sanctions even
00:02:21.120 inside Iran. The CBC says that people are protesting against the US sanctions. Is that true? Of course it's not.
00:02:27.920 CBC is a funded public company. It's funded by our tax money. So they're getting their line from somewhere
00:02:35.440 else. Absolutely not. This is about Iranian people being oppressed by a regime of a murderous Islamic 1.00
00:02:44.480 dictator regime of Iran for 40 years. It's got nothing to do with the US sanctions. It has everything to do
00:02:53.040 with a murderous Islamic dictator regime. I'm just amazed at the words. The way that media is playing 0.93
00:03:02.240 with the words. If anything the United States sanctions and thank you Mr. Trump, Trump 2020,
00:03:10.240 he's the one that pushed this government. You want to fight ISIS? Canada wants to get rid of all these
00:03:17.040 terrorism? Get rid of the government of Iran. Well there you have it. The people are 0.91
00:03:22.400 protesting against the Islamic Republic, against the regime, against the tyrannical authoritarian
00:03:28.160 Islamist regime, against the mullahs. There's nothing to do with the US, nothing to do with
00:03:32.000 Donald Trump. So just keep in mind you can't trust the CBC to report the truth. True North is here
00:03:37.040 getting the facts, talking to the people and bringing you the truth. Thank you so much for watching.
