00:00:00.000 why aren't there flights that go through the north why why why don't we have more development
00:00:03.920 up there why don't we have airports why don't we have the basis of the infrastructure up there and
00:00:08.080 how and how do we get that uh built for the same reason that uh you articulate that the west
00:00:15.120 is the most wicked of our national unity problems i concur it's the first national 0.89
00:00:19.760 unity problem i identified the capital is in ottawa the capital is in ottawa originally
00:00:24.560 because the strategic threat of canada to go back to our genesis and this idea of our borders
00:00:30.560 what was the united states in 1867 canada is created as the antithesis to the american project that is
00:00:38.240 just a constitutional reality it's particularly in the first paragraphs of the constitution that is why
00:00:45.440 all of the major cities and all the major economic activity limb the southern border not because it
00:00:52.800 is warm anybody who's been to to winnipeg or ottawa uh at any particular time outside of summer knows
00:00:59.680 that it's not we're not there for meteorological reasons we're there because all the forts lined
00:01:05.040 the southern border because the americans were the threat all the way to the west the railroad
00:01:10.240 went east west and the cities followed and the economic activity followed thereafter and then the
00:01:15.840 mythology of of climate as as the reason that we're there because it's warm in the south and not in the
00:01:21.600 north and then the idea that the current mythology that the americans are are enduring friend well
00:01:27.120 the americans are our friend today but in in my read of things they are just another country and they 0.99
00:01:33.040 are thinking in their own interests and one day that could turn against us right even in annexation terms
00:01:39.280 and and that should be understood including through the north so now we understand the north is opening
00:01:43.920 up in a way that was not true over the last 150 years just as china is relevant in a way that was equally
00:01:50.160 untrue over the last 150 years when canada has created china is just recovering from the the opium
00:01:56.480 war so it's destabilized for the entire modern existence of canada now russia and china are right 0.99
00:02:01.840 at our borders as i just depicted and so that border alignment that border thinking needs to be
00:02:07.840 shifted up from the american axis
