00:00:25.760 what's with the Prime Minister now in his third week in Costa Rica? There was some
00:00:31.160 speculating on social media that he would return to Ottawa this weekend. I
00:00:35.480 haven't been able to confirm that and the PMO website showing his itinerary
00:00:39.980 merely says Costa Rica and personal time. But this is his tenth vacation of the
00:00:46.580 last year. By my count the Prime Minister has taken 48 private days and 107
00:00:52.640 personal days this year alone and that doesn't include the time after the
00:00:56.420 election when he disappeared for nearly five weeks ostensibly holding private
00:01:00.860 meetings. He only appeared in the House for question period 29 times in 2019. After
00:01:07.220 announcing his new cabinet he seems to have offloaded most if not all of his
00:01:11.180 responsibilities to the newly named Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and
00:01:15.260 then he promptly boarded a government plane and went to Costa Rica. One wonders
00:01:21.080 what he will actually do when he returns. I should add that the jet dropped off the
00:01:28.160 Prime Minister and his entourage and flew empty back to its base in Ontario. Assuming
00:01:32.940 he returns to Ottawa this weekend the plane will have to deadhead to Costa Rica to
00:01:37.160 pick him up and fly him back to Ottawa. This stands in contrast with the UK Prime
00:01:44.240 Minister Boris Johnson who was photographed flying economy last week for his
00:01:48.680 holiday in St. Lucia. I should also add at this point that Air Canada flies
00:01:54.560 regularly to both San Juan and Liberia airports in Costa Rica. If the Prime
00:02:00.260 Minister who declared a crime and emergency last July right before he flew to
00:02:04.640 Tofino was really concerned about the climate would he not perhaps want to
00:02:09.740 emulate Johnson as opposed to having Air Force jets flying empty back and forth to
00:02:15.200 Costa Rica? In this day and age security in our airports is robust enough that the
00:02:20.360 personal security the PM should not be an issue especially when he is taking one
00:02:25.520 of his many holidays. He would still travel with a small RCMP or detail and he
00:02:30.800 could be moved easily enough through airports and VIP areas. All airports have
00:02:35.180 them. Speaking of security the PM was photographed looking disheveled while
00:02:40.580 holding a paper bag containing who knows what in what appears to be a Costa
00:02:44.780 Rican bodega. He was unshaven and his eyes appeared glassy. Security was nowhere to
00:02:50.540 be seen in the photo. Were they even with him? Meanwhile while he was in Costa Rica his
00:02:56.660 wife Sophie posted holiday greetings on her Instagram page from what appeared to be
00:03:01.280 a wintry ski hill presumably with the kids. Now I don't know what's going on
00:03:06.980 behind the scenes and frankly it's none of my business but no part of this looks
00:03:11.300 good for the Prime Minister. The economy is limping along. Western separation is
00:03:17.000 gathering steam. The situation in the Middle East has got everyone's attention

00:03:25.880 serious situation and we have boots on the ground in Iraq. The foreign minister put
00:03:30.860 out a limp wristed message that said virtually nothing. It was just political
00:03:34.880 word salad and thus far we've heard nothing from the Prime Minister. He seems to
00:03:39.060 think his is a part-time job and he bears no responsibility as head of our
00:03:43.980 government. He's not looking anything like the Prime Minister of a G7 nation. For
