In this episode, I talk about how important it is to hear words of wisdom from people who are not represented in the voices you see in the media, politicians, or in the public at large. I think there are too many people out there, including politicians, voices in media, more than happy to goad it all on, and not enough people saying, it's going to be all right.

00:00:00.000 There's a lot of fear, concern, anxiety going on all across the country when it comes to
00:00:10.320 coronavirus health issues, when it comes to the state of the economy, or the turmoil that we see
00:00:15.400 on our streets in some cities in North America almost seeming to descend into civil war. And I
00:00:21.160 think there's too many people out there, politicians, voices in the media, more than happy to goad it
00:00:25.660 all on, and not enough people saying, it's going to be all right, we will solve our problems, we will
00:00:30.760 make it through this. And I was reflecting on this, not because of anything some politician was saying,
00:00:35.780 but some interactions, conversations I've been having with regular people recently, offering
00:00:39.920 their words of wisdom. I was speaking to one lady who I respect a lot about the back-to-school question.
00:00:44.680 She's sending her kids back to school, I'm sending mine. Now the fact I'm sending my kids back should
00:00:48.880 tell you that I'm not overly concerned about it, but of course any issue could flare up at any time.
00:00:54.040 And this lady, she wisely said, we will solve these problems as they arise. We will cross those
00:01:00.120 bridges as we come to them. Everything's going to be all right. And it was so refreshing to hear
00:01:05.680 someone speak like that. Likewise, I had a gentleman who listens to my radio show. He sent me an email,
00:01:10.380 an older gentleman saying, look, his parents went through World War II. They went through all of
00:01:14.300 these challenges. He went through the Vietnam War. So many different things that have affected the
00:01:19.060 generations that came before us. And they ultimately dealt with those problems. They prospered
00:01:23.940 they thrived. Yes, some people are going to get sick. People are going to face hardships. But
00:01:28.360 together as a community, as a society, as human civilization, we continue to step forward. We
00:01:33.880 continue to make these advances. And I think it's so important right now that we hear those reassuring
00:01:39.440 words. Maybe those young people out in the streets who are really spending their energies in ways that
00:01:43.860 they probably shouldn't be doing. They can put them to better use. I think a lot of those young people
00:01:47.840 need to be told these words of wisdom. And we're not getting it from political leadership right now.
00:01:53.600 We're not getting it from voices in the media. I know there's a lot of people concerned. What
00:01:57.960 direction is our politics heading? There's a lot of anxiety with all of that. But I do ultimately
00:02:02.640 believe in human innovation and industriousness and that we have a lot more similarities than we do
00:02:07.840 differences. You're not hearing that right now. And it's shameful and it's disappointing. But we got
00:02:12.740 to look to those reassuring voices where we can. And those words of wisdom from older generations or
00:02:17.840 from people who are just not being represented right now in those voices that you see out there
00:02:22.760 dominating politics, dominating media. And let's hope that soon changes.
