00:00:00.000 this has been a tremendously vicious election the narrative surrounding donald trump and again i'm
00:00:14.420 not having this discussion in a way that pretends that i can vote for him i'm a canadian i'm an
00:00:18.560 i'm an uh interceptor of american politics right now or an interloper i guess but this does matter
00:00:24.680 and this is meaningful and we're seeing a lot of that same hatred and anger and venom and
00:00:28.440 uncivility on both sides of the border michelle bachman is a former republican presidential
00:00:33.960 candidate herself sought the party nomination in 2012 and served for many years in congress as a
00:00:39.720 republican representative and she returns to the show now michelle thank you so much for coming on
00:00:45.600 good to speak to you again andrew good to see you today too you have seen i mean you've met donald
00:00:52.280 trump and you know him quite well and you obviously know american politics quite well and you know the
00:00:57.200 symbolism of it so when you see that famous photo that we put up there the one that's just made its
00:01:02.440 way around the world is that the donald trump that you know is that a an image that surprises you given
00:01:08.540 what happened and how you'd expect him to respond yes it is the genius of donald trump if people aren't
00:01:15.760 aware of that what is unique about this man is the fact that he doesn't see any obstacle if there's an
00:01:23.200 obstacle in his path he goes around he goes underneath he goes over he figures a way to get to
00:01:30.540 what it is that he wants to do especially in this election cycle you've never seen more curveballs
00:01:37.540 thrown at any candidate than what's been thrown at donald trump including this so he his gut instincts
00:01:44.440 are amazing his gut instinct to immediately go straight down was uh was an excellent move but then
00:01:52.360 also his gut instinct was to stand up and communicate to america because if you want to understand
00:01:59.020 donald trump he's a john wayne american if people remember back to john wayne movies that's really the
00:02:07.940 kind of guy that donald trump is very optimistic loves the country believes that our country can do
00:02:14.500 anything if we put our mind to it he's a very decent man and he wants a very decent country
00:02:20.220 and he's he's a continual fighter so it was what we saw when he was shouting he was he was angry but
00:02:28.160 he was he was angry at what was happening and he when he shouted fight fight fight that was from his
00:02:34.000 heart and i read an article this morning he he was responding uh to people over the weekend after he'd
00:02:41.800 been seen by the doctors at the hospital in pennsylvania that he wanted to stay he wanted to stay and he
00:02:48.440 wanted to speak to the audience that's that's very indicative of who donald trump is he's he has
00:02:54.740 dragon energy like nobody i've ever seen he has incredible stamina incredible energy he's uh he's
00:03:01.760 older than i am but he's actually his body is a lot younger than mine he's just a very impressive
00:03:07.220 individual political violence in the united states is not i would say it's not even all that rare and
00:03:14.080 it's been directed against politicians on the left and the right you've gabby giffords you have steve
00:03:18.960 scalise you have ronald reagan you have all of this uh you know abraham lincoln i mean this is a
00:03:23.580 long-standing part of american politics sadly and i'm wondering whether this was outside of that
00:03:31.620 whether this was something unique and what i mean by that is that the temperature in politics has seemed
00:03:38.040 a lot higher in the last eight years than it has been even in that i mean the context of reagan
00:03:44.060 and the attempted assassination against him was a heck of a lot different than this attempt on donald
00:03:49.500 trump's life no i think you're right about that and that's because what we've been seeing in the
00:03:55.760 united states is a coup of our culture uh a coup a takeover if you will of our public schools of our
00:04:04.860 culture of our corporate culture in the united states and so we've gone from traditional america
00:04:11.940 thinking of being loving our country loving what our country stands for loving the ability of people
00:04:19.200 being able to start their own businesses and keep the money that they make and uh people all being held
00:04:25.360 to the same standard under the law enforcement of the law that way of life has been completely upended
00:04:32.740 in the last probably 10 years it's been upended and we live in a country in america that we no longer
00:04:39.280 recognize part of that is the political revolution that we see primarily coming through one particular
00:04:46.660 party that's the democrat party in the united states and it seems that they've embraced a revolutionary
00:04:53.720 attitude toward politics where it's where it's winner take all that we can never lose an election that
00:04:59.760 everything is about holding on to the power base it's very unusual from politics typically in the
00:05:06.920 united states and it's moving the united states toward a direction like i said that we no longer
00:05:13.700 recognize the open borders for instance and the out of control spending that we've never seen before
00:05:19.900 really it's like the united states is in a car going 80 miles an hour heading directly at a brick wall
00:05:26.240 and there's no breaks that's that's really what's been happening our country people are reacting to
00:05:31.800 that they want america back the happy america that we all knew before the achieving america where we're
00:05:39.000 not ashamed of what our country is and so i think that that thinking that coup thinking has got us into
00:05:46.540 the trouble and there's too many oddballs that have been calling actually for violence including the
00:05:51.920 president of the united states joe biden on monday called him putting trump in a bullseye that's a
00:05:57.540 significant statement and it isn't just that in the last two weeks since the united states supreme
00:06:02.680 court issued its decision on the immunity ruling for the presidents there's been daily calls for the
00:06:09.680 assassination of the president of united states if you read american press it's daily calls for
00:06:15.240 assassination including the famous actress bette midler she had made calls from in fact over the weekend
00:06:21.160 uh jack black who who has a rock band in australia one of his bandmates shouted out from the stage
00:06:28.320 you better i better aim next time and one of the staffers for the uh democrat member of congress who
00:06:35.160 ran the january 6th committee his staffer said hey why didn't you get uh shooting lessons so i mean
00:06:41.980 these kind of comments are still going out after the attempt on the president's life and i'm sure your
00:06:48.000 your listeners are well aware that president trump literally was a fraction of a second away from
00:06:55.420 death this was meant to be a kill shot and he looked to his right he looked over his right shoulder
00:07:01.300 at a chart regarding the numbers on illegal aliens coming into the united states only because he turned his
00:07:09.080 head did did did the shot just take off a part of his ear instead of going into his brain it was
00:07:16.120 meant for his brain it was meant to take him out so this was a death shot but probably the thing that
00:07:22.080 everyone is talking about today andrew is the fact that this was the most colossal fail from our secret
00:07:28.820 service i've had a secret service protection when i ran for president of the united states in 2012
00:07:35.080 i had a president george w bush do fundraisers for me i saw what that practice was like on the inside
00:07:43.000 and i'm telling you there is literally no way security would miss the most obvious sight on that
00:07:50.260 whole campus to shoot from it was very close about 130 yards away and it was it wasn't covered or
00:07:58.640 protected at all and for three minutes people were were getting the attention of secret service to
00:08:05.360 tell them oh we uh we lost michelle for a moment we'll uh we'll hopefully get michelle back in uh in
00:08:13.120 a second here but sean if you could while we get uh congressman bachman back on if you could put that
00:08:17.680 map back up there this is incredibly important and it's a little bit small but i i wanted to have a
00:08:22.800 very wide image so in the middle of the screen at the top you see three buildings uh beside each
00:08:28.660 other and just below those in front of those is a photo of donald trump that's where the trump stage
00:08:33.480 was set up that's where the stage was set up to the left of that the red dot that is where the sniper
00:08:39.760 was if you were to have no idea how to orchestrate a presidential assassination and you were to know that
00:08:46.640 trump was going to be speaking in that spot and you were going to look at this whole area
00:08:49.440 what is the most logical building that you would get onto it's the closest one it is literally the
00:08:57.960 closest building to the stage except for the three immediately behind the stage and that is so
00:09:05.860 incredibly important here because how could you not look at that building how could you not have
00:09:12.120 someone standing on that building how could you not have your own snipers on that building looking to
00:09:18.040 the right of the stage they had snipers behind the stage on those three building tops but they did not
00:09:23.140 have them apparently on the one that the sniper who took out or attempted to take out donald trump
00:09:30.300 did and who took out a beloved pennsylvania fire chief who was in the bleachers behind donald trump
00:09:36.160 like this was absolutely a security failing and i'm always the one telling people to not get
00:09:42.020 conspiratorial i'm always the one telling people no no no don't start going down this road of thinking
00:09:46.720 that everything is a conspiracy but i will be perfectly candid in saying that i have a lot
00:09:50.460 of questions about this i think it's entirely possible that this was a lone wolf gunman a mentally
00:09:57.240 unhinged gunman a guy consumed by political hatred consumed by something else it's possible that that
00:10:03.400 was the case but how does a 20 year old kid manage to exploit a security vulnerability of this nature
00:10:10.040 without presumably knowing what he's doing and more importantly why is that security vulnerability there
00:10:15.600 in the first place why is that security vulnerability there why does it exist and that is a question
00:10:21.840 that will take i suspect a great deal of time to answer i just i we we have michelle bachman back and
00:10:28.260 i just want to spend you know just another moment with her here thank you for coming back michelle
00:10:32.460 what what is your read on this is your read that this couldn't just be basic government incompetence
00:10:37.760 well that's always a factor basic government incompetence but i think people are worried that
00:10:44.220 this may be more sinister because clearly there are advanced men that do all of the work then this
00:10:51.380 was the number one location that you would shoot from it was the direct line of sight would it would
00:10:56.700 be it would offer the best kill shot and so it's impossible to believe that it wasn't covered but the
00:11:03.280 other thing is you had um snipers who were looking directly at that area who had the gun on him
00:11:11.220 and there's a report today that the fellow who had the gun on the shooter had it cited on him for three
00:11:19.240 minutes that he had asked for permission to take this fellow out and he wasn't given permission
00:11:28.080 now that hasn't been verified but that's been all over the place and again um it wasn't just one person
00:11:36.400 who saw the shooter up there there were a lot of people that saw the shooter they were pointing at
00:11:41.720 the shooter they had the attention of the secret service they had the attention of the local police
00:11:47.380 and a local policeman had time to put a ladder
00:11:50.940 he had the time to put the ladder up against the building and climb up and then the shooter pointed his
00:11:59.840 gun at the local policeman he ducked and he went down so had the local policeman stayed there pulled
00:12:07.500 his gun out or maybe he would have been killed himself clearly at that point i think the snipers
00:12:13.260 would have taken out the shooter and they wouldn't have shot at president trump but be that as it may
00:12:19.060 i mean when you think about this 50 year old fireman who was killed he was in the bleachers behind
00:12:25.760 president trump and two other people were severely injured as well so this is this is as big as it
00:12:32.460 gets this assassination attempt against the president and so it isn't that it's there's no equivalency here
00:12:39.540 about the rhetoric rhetoric was strong on both political parties republican democrat but the calls for
00:12:46.860 assassination the calls for violence have almost been exclusively coming from the democrat party they need
00:12:55.160 to own that they need to apologize for it they need to renounce that and then at this point i think
00:13:03.340 there's a lot of reluctance to really trust the secret service or trust the fbi at this point they're the
00:13:10.820 ones conducting the investigation and as of this morning they're they're telling the world that they
00:13:16.460 aren't able to open the cell phone of the 20 year old who believes that that they don't have the ability
00:13:22.860 to open up that cell phone so there are so many things that don't add up right now and so a lot
00:13:29.940 will unfold michelle bachman thank you so much for coming on today i know it's a busy week in your
00:13:35.700 country so i appreciate your insights and time very much thanks again andrew good to see you again
