00:00:00.000 Thank you very much. Merci beaucoup.
00:00:02.280 First of all, let me just say this.
00:00:04.420 We are all overwhelmed by what you have built here.
00:00:08.540 Ashraf III, what a tremendous achievement.
00:00:11.840 Congratulations.
00:00:14.940 Madame Rejavi, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, friends.
00:00:20.380 I'm delighted to be back with you,
00:00:22.600 the National Council of Resistance at Free Iran 2019.
00:00:26.100 And I am delighted to be here because there are few causes in this world today
00:00:31.720 more important at this moment than what you are pursuing,
00:00:37.120 the right of the people of Iran to change their government
00:00:40.480 and their right to do it through freedom and the power of the ballot box.
00:00:48.480 Friends, in the years since we last gathered,
00:00:51.520 the Ayatollah's regime has opened, openly increased its enrichment of uranium.
00:01:00.700 It has stepped up its support for its terrorist allies and proxies
00:01:04.580 in the Middle East and around the world.
00:01:07.340 And it has taken the suppression of human rights to new levels.
00:01:11.580 So the need for change in Iran is greater than ever before.
00:01:16.460 And the need for the work of this organization on behalf of the Iranian people
00:01:21.560 is greater than ever before.
00:01:26.220 The regime is now, friends,
00:01:29.120 it is in the process of fomenting a new and significant regional crisis.
00:01:33.880 Over the past several weeks,
00:01:37.020 it has itself and through its proxies
00:01:39.460 attacked oil tankers in the Sea of Oman,
00:01:43.280 fired missiles at its neighbors,
00:01:46.360 threatened global shipping,
00:01:48.220 and shot down an American drone in international airspace.
00:01:51.940 In other words,
00:01:53.380 the regime is out to prove
00:01:55.140 what you and others have long been saying,
00:01:57.960 that it is the single most dangerous regime in the world today.
00:02:04.260 Now, friends, how should we respond to that threat?
00:02:08.260 There is only one way
00:02:10.020 to respond with a firmness
00:02:12.560 that recognizes the regime's nature,
00:02:16.160 that recognizes without apology or equivocation
00:02:19.900 its extremism,
00:02:22.220 its brutality,
00:02:23.840 and its hatred.
00:02:25.660 Sadly and dangerously,
00:02:27.460 some in the world continue to seek
00:02:29.680 to camouflage this
00:02:31.400 and instead try to appease the regime.
00:02:35.260 They claim to want to reach out
00:02:37.040 to the regime's moderates.
00:02:40.280 Friends,
00:02:41.820 are we really,
00:02:43.920 do we really lack that kind of intelligence
00:02:46.580 to believe that anyone
00:02:48.080 senior in a regime like this,
00:02:51.220 senior in a regime of extremism,
00:02:53.940 of brutality, and of hatred
00:02:55.880 could ever possibly be a moderate?
00:02:58.660 It is ridiculous.
00:03:00.060 The right policy,
00:03:01.080 the only realistic policy,
00:03:02.940 is firmness and strength.
00:03:05.420 Impose sanctions.
00:03:06.960 Boycott its oil.
00:03:08.440 Designate it and its institutions
00:03:10.360 as terrorist organizations,
00:03:12.640 and do what my government did in Canada,
00:03:15.040 close down the regime's embassies
00:03:16.960 around the world.
00:03:26.060 Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
00:03:30.160 Friends, what really is the argument against responding in this way, against responding
00:03:47.860 with firmness and strength?
00:03:50.560 It is claimed the apologists for the Ayatollah's regime.
00:03:54.000 It is because the world, they say, has a stark choice, appeasement or war.
00:04:00.560 Now friends, you know and we know that is a false choice.
00:04:05.420 Surrender to the regime's religious fascism is not an avoidance of war.
00:04:10.780 It is an acceptance of the war that the theocracy is already pursuing through its proxies and
00:04:16.800 allies against its neighbors in the region.
00:04:20.260 It is also an acceptance of its quest for nuclear weapons and an invitation for the
00:04:25.560 regime to pursue unspeakable greater war in the future.
00:04:31.540 Weakness and appeasement will not avoid a military confrontation with this regime.
00:04:38.200 Instead they invite the regime to pursue even more aggressive confrontation in the future.
00:04:44.440 The solution then is not weakness.
00:04:47.700 It is strength.
00:04:48.700 It is not to soften sanctions.
00:04:50.780 It is to toughen them.
00:04:52.200 It is not to accept its human rights atrocities.
00:04:55.260 It is to condemn them.
00:04:56.940 It is not to pursue appeasement.
00:04:58.940 It is to push back and push back hard.
00:05:01.700 Friends, the right response is not to surrender to the regime.
00:05:06.260 It is to stand with the Iranian people and stand against this regime.
00:05:17.960 The religious fascism of the Ayatollah's regime will never, will never be good for the world,
00:05:26.080 it will never be good for the region and it will never be good for the people of Iran.
00:05:32.260 This very existence means confrontation with the world, with its neighbors and with its own citizens.
00:05:40.500 Those are the people we must stand with.
00:05:44.180 And that means standing behind the 10-point plan that Madame Rajavi and the National Council have committed to.
00:05:51.740 Democracy, pluralism, the rule of law, justice, human rights, peaceful coexistence, gender equality, private property in a market economy,
00:06:02.320 the separation of religion and state and a non-nuclear Iran.
00:06:15.320 Those things, these things are the only way the confrontation and the danger disappear.
00:06:23.320 Friends, that 10-point plan, your 10-point plan, is the future.
00:06:28.320 It is the future the world wants.
00:06:31.320 It is the future that Iranians need.
00:06:34.320 And it is the future you have long fought for.
00:06:38.320 So I say again to you, my friends,
00:06:40.320 do not give up hope, do not in any way relent in your struggle.
00:06:46.320 Underneath the extremism and perversion of the Ayatollah's regime is a great country, a great culture, a great faith, a great civilization yearning to be free.
00:06:59.320 And that is what the world, everyone in the world, wants in Iran.
00:07:04.320 Today, I am joined here as I was last year by many Canadians.
00:07:09.320 I am joined both by those who supported my government and those who oppose my government,
00:07:15.320 but who are united behind your dreams of a new and better Iran.
00:07:20.320 And these Canadians are just a small sample of the millions of people of goodwill and fortitude in Canada
00:07:27.320 and of the billions of similar people around the world who share your aspirations for a new Iran.
00:07:34.320 And Iran governed not by the hatreds of the past or the regime's nuclear apocalyptic vision of the future,
00:07:42.320 but an Iran led forward by the needs of its people and rooted in the best of its culture and history.
00:07:49.320 That new Iran is coming.
00:07:52.320 And it will be an Iran that stands freely and proudly among the nations of the world.
00:07:58.320 It will be an Iran that your efforts have inspired.
00:08:02.320 So keep up the fight.
00:08:04.320 Hazer, Hazer, Hazer.
