00:00:00.000 What the heck is going on with bans on walks in the woods out in Atlantic Canada?
00:00:07.060 Yeah, so Atlantic Canada is facing some risk of forest fires.
00:00:11.960 It hasn't seen a lot of rain.
00:00:13.880 Things are really dry there.
00:00:16.020 And the risk has been assessed at high or in some parts of the province as extreme, not unlike parts of Ontario where I'm sitting right now.
00:00:24.860 And the province's solution to this, rather than just burning things or banning things that cause forest fires like, you know, campfires or ATVs, things like that, they've decided that they're going to have a total ban on anyone going into the woods at all, unless they have a permit or unless they happen to live on that particular woods.
00:00:48.400 but if they live there they can't have guests so what's going on is a really serious government
00:00:54.320 overreach here that violates people's rights and you know a lot of people are sort of uh
00:01:00.720 people have been reaching out to us left right and center who want to challenge this and there's
00:01:05.200 you know some conspiracy theories going on about why this is happening because it's just
00:01:09.680 so crazy to people people can't understand how you know hiking fishing having somebody on your
00:01:16.480 property to go birdwatch and could possibly pose any sort of fire risk so they're they're trying
00:01:22.720 to figure out what's really going on and i think what's really going on is the government is just
00:01:26.960 obsessed with safety and doesn't trust people to you know walk through a forest yeah i think
00:01:33.120 to many the understandable concern and and gee it's almost like they're trying to create conspiracy
00:01:40.320 theories here because it's it's my head immediately went to covet which was that this feels like an
00:01:46.640 arbitrary choice the same way that uh all of a sudden you know unvaccinated truckers couldn't 0.94
00:01:52.960 cross the border when we knew that that did had nothing to do with transmission or the way that
00:01:58.160 you know particularly ontario where i was at the time you know you close golf courses parks
00:02:04.160 you keep closing schools ostensibly to protect grandma and grandpa, but the connective tissue
00:02:14.000 there was very short. And so the arbitrary nature is sort of giving way to folks going like, hang on
00:02:20.720 a sec, this reminds me of the last few years. Their head's going to go there. They're going to
00:02:24.800 to get worried.
