ISIS has claimed responsibility for the shooting rampage that injured 13 people and killed a young girl in Toronto on Sunday night. But what's interesting about this claim of responsibility is that the Toronto Police are denying it, saying that only from them will official information come in this case.
00:00:00.320It's official. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the shooting rampage by Faisal Hussain Sunday night in Toronto's Greek Town neighborhood that injured 13 people, killed a woman and also a young girl.
00:00:13.140ISIS has claimed responsibility in a statement published through the group's AMAC network, a propaganda news agency.
00:00:19.960But what's interesting about this claim of responsibility that Faisal Hussain was a soldier acting on behalf of ISIS is that the Toronto police are denying it.
00:00:28.740The Toronto police are saying that only from them will official information come in this case and more importantly there's no information to connect ISIS's claim of responsibility to this case.
00:00:40.900But it gets further complicated when we look at coverage by Toronto Sun writer Joe Warmington indicating that one of the interactions that Faisal Hussain had with Toronto police was actually about his online activity.
00:00:52.840We know that's where a lot of ISIS propaganda, in fact almost all in this day and age, is spread and where a lot of people are recruited for the cause or at the very least believe they are recruited for the cause.
00:01:04.220So we have about the same incident with several days after the event having followed here very different stories from Reuters and CTV and other agencies that have said,
00:01:15.640yes, in fact there is a claim of responsibility and the Toronto police saying no such claim exists.
00:01:21.820Canadian media needs to pick up the pace on this one.
