00:02:14.260 skills that we need then we're best positioned to be able to offer them permanent residency

00:02:21.340 I think we've got 40,000 people who have sought permanent residency from us,
00:02:25.860 and so that's why I think we need a bit of a better balance.
00:02:29.080 Quebec is able to choose about 45,000 of their permanent residents through a different program.
00:02:34.860 And so if you're looking at the scale, we think that we need to be able to have more autonomy to do that.
00:02:39.540 And then that would allow us to address some of the pressures that we're hearing about in the news
00:02:43.000 and also make sure that those who go through those programs with the hope of getting permanent residency
00:02:48.100 As long as we can identify a pathway where there's a job that is one that cannot be filled by an Alberta worker,
00:02:55.060 then I think that we can work with the federal government to find more opportunities for us to make those choices.
