Juno News - Justin Trudeau EATS CROW at Mar-A-Lago with Donald Trump

00:00:00.000 Well, on Friday night, as many Canadians were gearing down for the weekend, we learned that

00:00:11.380 Justin Trudeau, along with his Chief of Staff Katie Telford, and Public Safety Minister Dominic

00:00:16.560 LeBlanc were on their way to West Palm Beach, Florida, to have a dinner with incoming U.S.

00:00:22.420 President Donald Trump. Trump was joined by many of his key allies and members of his

00:00:27.640 incoming administration that have to do with energy, commerce, and national security.

00:00:33.200 And now we've learned quite a lot about what was discussed at this meeting on Friday night,

00:00:37.340 and from the reporting all throughout the weekend, we've now learned quite a lot about what was

00:00:40.980 discussed at this meeting between the two leaders. And there are a few things that have become very

00:00:46.400 clear since that meeting. The first, there is no indication that Donald Trump will drop his tariff

00:00:53.160 threat on all Canadian imports, a 25% tariff threat, something that would cripple the Canadian

00:00:59.060 economy. And also, we still do not have a clear definition or expectation from the incoming U.S.

00:01:06.720 President as to what exactly he's looking for Canada to do. Yes, he wants us to close our border. Yes,

00:01:13.360 he wants us to get a grip on the fentanyl pouring into the United States. But what exactly does that

00:01:18.380 look like? Are there numbers attached to this demand? That is not clear. It's not clearer today

00:01:24.700 than it was the day Donald Trump made those threats. When Donald Trump made those threats to destroy the

00:01:30.880 Canadian economy, the Canadian government came together. Canadian premiers, along with the

00:01:35.280 Canadian government, immediately changed their tune on immigration. They started to sound far more

00:01:39.620 Canada first. They started to sound far stronger on immigration. And that's because Donald Trump did

00:01:45.620 the one thing you should never do to a Canadian. And that is compare him to a Mexican. All joking 0.99

00:01:51.840 aside, we do know that this meeting was requested by Justin Trudeau the day after Donald Trump made those

00:01:58.660 threats. And I think diplomacy in this situation is always good. So I do think that it was a wise decision

00:02:04.380 for Justin Trudeau to meet face to face with the incoming U.S. President and to try to figure out what can be

00:02:10.620 done to prevent these tariffs, which would completely destroy our economy. Now, before you

00:02:15.600 get into the show, be sure to drop a like on this video. Help us out by subscribing to the TrueNorth

00:02:19.040 YouTube channel. And the comment question for the episode is this. Was Justin Trudeau right to go to

00:02:25.060 Mar-a-Lago and have dinner with Donald Trump? Let me know your answer in the comments below and let's get

00:02:29.580 into it. Well, this was the scene Friday night of Justin Trudeau along with his team touching down in West Palm

00:02:35.160 Beach, Florida and driving towards Mar-a-Lago, the center of the political universe on Friday night. This makes

00:02:41.860 Justin Trudeau the first world leader to have a face-to-face meeting with the incoming U.S.

00:02:47.360 President Donald Trump since his electoral victory. And of course, this meeting on Justin Trudeau's part

00:02:53.420 was an effort to try to save the Canadian economy from collapse because that is exactly what Donald

00:03:00.060 Trump's 25% tariff on all Canadian imports would do. And in a time of a diplomatic crisis like this for the

00:03:08.100 Canadian people, isn't it interesting that Justin Trudeau decided to leave Chrystia Freeland and his

00:03:13.880 foreign minister, Melanie Jolie, behind? And that might be because Chrystia Freeland famously described 0.84

00:03:20.500 Donald Trump when he was the president of the United States and when Freeland was the foreign affairs

00:03:26.320 minister as a tyrant. And when it comes to Melanie Jolie, well, let's just be fair and say that she's not

00:03:32.360 exactly the brightest bulb in the Trudeau cabinet. She is certainly no Lester Pearson when it comes to

00:03:38.340 diplomacy. Of course, this meeting was a secret meeting. The Canadian media was not made aware of this decision at

00:03:45.160 all. The meeting was not on the prime minister's itinerary. It was, however, made at the request of Justin Trudeau on

00:03:50.760 Monday. So they knew this was happening for quite a while, the Canadians did. And thanks to some background

00:03:56.360 information given by a source that is close to the prime minister to the Toronto Star, we know what was

00:04:02.140 discussed between Donald Trump and Justin Trudeau. According to the Canadian source in the Toronto

00:04:07.640 Star, the leaders discussed trade, border security, fentanyl, defense matters, including NATO, Ukraine,

00:04:13.900 and icebreakers, as well as China, energy issues, and pipelines such as the Keystone XL and Line 5.

00:04:21.040 Next year, the G7 will be held in Alberta. That was also discussed by the two world leaders. And according

00:04:27.140 to Canada's ambassador to the United States, who was also at Mar-a-Lago for the meeting,

00:04:31.960 but was forced to sit at an adjacent table, the ambassador tells the Associated Press that Justin

00:04:38.140 Trudeau was successful at getting Donald Trump and his incoming cabinet to recognize that lumping in

00:04:44.420 Canada with Mexico on the issue of immigration and fentanyl was not fair. I told you, you really

00:04:49.900 shouldn't be comparing Canadians to Mexicans. That is a personal attack on us. We don't take it very

00:04:54.020 kindly. And you would think that the meeting was a good one. There were pictures that were released

00:04:58.100 of a smiling Donald Trump and a smiling Justin Trudeau all happily together with the incoming

00:05:03.340 cabinet and Dominic LeBlanc as well. Now, personally, my favorite thing about this photo is the legendary

00:05:08.920 photo bomb that was associated with this photo. You can see a young child in the background making a

00:05:14.160 face in this picture with a very proud father beside his son. Top tier stuff right there. It's

00:05:19.940 important ever to take these things too seriously, you know. Justin Trudeau responded with his own

00:05:23.920 picture. Thanks for the dinner last night, President Trump. I look forward to the work we can do

00:05:28.060 together again. What's funny is that the man sitting beside Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump right there,

00:05:33.720 Mike Waltz, is Donald Trump's pick to be the incoming national security advisor. And it wasn't long ago,

00:05:39.420 in fact, it was back in May that Mike Waltz said Pierre Polyev was going to be the guy to send Trudeau

00:05:46.120 packing in 2025, finally, and start digging Canada out of the progressive mess it's in. His trolling of

00:05:52.880 Trudeau's nonsense worth a watch. Funny how things change, huh? It seemed to be a cordial meeting and

00:05:58.000 I have to say that I think the idea of the meeting was right. It was important to have this dialogue.

00:06:03.840 Canada and the United States are very close partners, very close trading partners, and I think

00:06:08.660 dialogue is good. But what can Justin Trudeau even do in this instance? He wasn't really going to walk

00:06:15.060 out of that meeting with the commitment from Donald Trump to drop the tariffs. That surely was never

00:06:19.680 the plan. Also, Donald Trump is not stupid. He can see the political situation in our country and 0.99

00:06:25.880 soak in his team. They know that Justin Trudeau is on his way out, that a new prime minister and a new

00:06:32.040 Canadian government will be at the negotiating table in 2026 for the USMCA renegotiation. Surely,

00:06:39.280 Donald Trump also knows that for the past two years, Justin Trudeau has been attacking the political

00:06:44.060 opposition in Canada, which will surely defeat him resoundingly, as MAGA Republicans, using Donald

00:06:50.980 Trump's political brand as an attack against conservatives in Canada. It's a bold strategy,

00:06:56.220 Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for him. Justin Trudeau is on the back foot here for a number of

00:07:00.660 reasons. He has been disastrous on the border, on immigration. He has opened this country up to 0.97

00:07:06.480 millions of people. We have drugs pouring into the United States and drugs pouring into Canada from

00:07:11.800 the United States. The border and immigration has never been taken seriously by Justin Trudeau.

00:07:16.800 And furthermore, the Canadian economy has been brutal compared to the US economy. Canadians are 0.99

00:07:22.280 getting poorer. Our GDP per capita has broken off with the United States. Canadians are far poorer than 0.99

00:07:28.560 their American counterparts. In fact, the average Alabaman, the average person who lives in Alabama

00:07:33.880 is richer than the average Canadian. Disgraceful, really. Not that we have anything against Alabamans.

00:07:39.120 But come on now. Our economy is poor. We are in a state of weakness right now. The Canadian Prime Minister

00:07:44.580 only has one option, and that is to go to Mar-a-Lago and beg, beg for some leniency here from the US

00:07:52.280 President. And also remind him, never compare us to Mexicans. All right, everyone, that's going to do it

00:07:56.380 for us today on the show. Thank you so much for tuning in. My name is Harrison Faulkner, and this is

00:08:00.700 Radio.
