00:00:00.000 Pressure is mounting for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to do something or even just say something
00:00:10.540 on two of the biggest issues related to the China file. Hong Kong democracy movement,
00:00:16.880 a huge issue now around the world, particularly since they had those district council elections
00:00:21.780 and pro-democracy anti-Beijing candidates won a whopping 90% of the seats there. Now that's
00:00:28.800 sort of equivalent to local city councilors so they don't have a say on the national level and
00:00:32.800 there's really not much democratic lever that gives the people of Hong Kong responsibility
00:00:37.380 for their national politics. They can't elect a sort of president or prime minister to see them
00:00:41.860 completely segue away from China as much as it seems they would like that but they won the seats
00:00:46.960 that they could. A lot of people celebrating this around the world, politicians from around the world
00:00:51.920 including President Donald Trump making it clear that he stands with the people in Hong Kong,
00:00:56.840 hasn't always done the most perfect tweets and messages on it. I would have preferred he said
00:01:01.100 some things differently. Democrats also standing up for that. Republicans, bipartisan backing of this
00:01:06.360 issue. And then we have Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who seems like the Sunnyways agenda tells you
00:01:12.320 there isn't a single progressive cause out there he will not immediately virtue signal over
00:01:16.800 except for this. Relative silence. I mean it's like it's like getting blood from a stone. There's been
00:01:24.380 a couple little muted comments here and there but that's about it. This great champion of all
00:01:30.100 things liberal values, well he's MIA on the Hong Kong file. Is it really just because he's that
00:01:36.220 nervous about the China file, doesn't know what to do, is so flummoxed by it, does not want to
00:01:41.280 ruffle feathers? Their new ambassador, Kong Pei Wu, we talked about this before, he said at a media
00:01:46.820 round table on Canadian soil that Canadians should together denounce the pro-democracy activists. Man,
00:01:54.240 this guy has some cojones. And real national leadership would see someone in the liberal
00:01:58.420 government saying, hey buddy, pull back the leash on that. Are you kidding us? No thank you. Not on our
00:02:05.440 watch. Not in this country. Don't say things like that. We reject those calls. Instead, he's getting a
00:02:11.980 free ride. And just like the former Chinese ambassador to Canada, it seems like he can say
00:02:16.160 whatever he wants with impunity. He's also saying, Huawei, you got to accept it. We've been hearing
00:02:22.620 that more and more. The former ambassador saying it, the current one saying, look, you know, don't
00:02:27.160 cause any more trouble in the Huawei file. Meanwhile, we had Richard O'Brien, who's Trump's national
00:02:31.680 security advisor, attending a conference in Halifax last weekend here on Canadian soil saying, guys,
00:02:37.020 you've got to reject Huawei. The calls just increase. Oh, and by the way, there was that
00:02:44.680 defector from the Chinese government. I mean, we're talking about defectors here. I mean, this is like
00:02:49.460 Cold War scenario again. A defector from China making his way over to Australia, bringing a lot
00:02:54.600 of knowledge and files with him. And one of the things he said is that, yes, the Chinese government
00:02:58.660 does mobilize listed companies, meaning corporations that are not state-owned enterprises, or they're
00:03:04.960 supposedly not state-owned enterprises. Well, looky here. Apparently, they do get some of them to do
00:03:10.720 their bidding. Dare I say, could Huawei be one of them? Well, that is what has been alleged, a concern
00:03:15.740 that has been raised by many. So again, going back to the Liberal government, Ralph Goodale, former
00:03:21.440 public safety minister, he had said before the election that the decision would be made after the
00:03:26.080 election. Did you mean imminently after? How soon after? Bill Blair has the file now. Is he going to rise
00:03:32.900 to the occasion? They keep saying, we will look at all the facts. We will do a full study of it all.
00:03:38.620 Okay, fine. We don't want to rush these things. We don't want to be hysterical here, but we kind of
00:03:42.980 have a lot of facts here. And I think the facts show it's not worth the risk. Are we going to see an
00:03:50.620 announcement from soon? They should be banning Huawei. Maybe we'll see a soft announcement late
00:03:56.560 Friday at 5pm saying, uh-oh, we've actually accepted Huawei into the construction of our 5G
00:04:02.280 grade. Lots of pressure on for Justin Trudeau to finally speak up on either of these issues,
00:04:07.760 Hong Kong or Huawei. Seems like he's too afraid to do either.
00:04:11.320 There we have to do.
00:04:16.360 How do you answer?
00:04:25.440 Oh, sorry.
00:04:37.080 All right.
00:04:37.520 How do you headline?
