Summary

This week, True North broke a well-researched story itemizing 138 times Justin Trudeau blamed his mistakes and failures on Stephen Harper, Andrew Scheer, or the Conservatives in general. Of course, that was only in the House of Commons when he bothered to attend. It does not include interviews or speeches when he did exactly the same thing. It's never his fault, you see, no matter what.

00:00:00.000 This week, True North broke a well-researched story itemizing 138 times the Prime Minister,
00:00:15.840 Justin Trudeau, blamed his mistakes and failures on Stephen Harper, Andrew Scheer or the Conservatives
00:00:22.200 in general. Of course, that was only in the House of Commons when he bothered to attend.
00:00:27.000 It does not include interviews or speeches when he did exactly the same thing. It's never
00:00:34.320 his fault, you see, no matter what. But the granddaddy of all deflect-blame statements
00:00:40.580 came not from the Prime Minister, but from the newly resurrected Gerald Butts, as quoted
00:00:46.400 in an excerpt from John Iverson's new book, Trudeau, The Education of a Prime Minister.
00:00:53.500 Speaking of the now-infamous trip to India in February of 2018, Butts said, quote,
00:00:59.100 We walked into a buzzsaw. Modi and his government were out to screw us and were throwing tacks
00:01:05.040 under our tires to help Canadian Conservatives, who did a good job of embarrassing us. But
00:01:11.640 none of that is the core issue. Nobody would remember any of it had it not been for the
00:01:17.840 photographs, unquote. So, according to Butts, it's Modi's fault Trudeau appeared in all manner
00:01:23.780 of silly costumes, with his whole family in front of several of India's famous places,
00:01:29.100 or was recorded in costume doing his impression of a Bangara dance, which went viral on social
00:01:35.140 media and instantly destroyed his credibility and Canada's relations with the world's largest
00:01:40.840 democracy. It didn't help that he brought along a convicted Sikh independence terrorist
00:01:46.500 either. He might well have stuck his finger in Prime Minister Modi's eye. But it doesn't
00:01:52.700 end there. Earlier this week, he held a press conference at the Kitsilano Coast Guard station
00:01:57.960 and was questioned by Vancouver journalist Bob Mackin about his frequent flights to the West
00:02:03.940 Coast, primarily for fundraisers, and whether the Liberal Party of Canada shouldn't be paying
00:02:09.080 for it. Mr. Minister, Bob Mackin of Breaker.News. This is your fifth trip to British Columbia
00:02:15.320 since May 22. You've got a Cash for Access fundraiser tonight. You've had two on May 22. You had
00:02:21.260 one last week in Victoria. You've been flying out at great frequency. I know there's an election
00:02:25.820 approaching, but by calculations of experts, it's more than 10,000 litres of fuel, jet fuel,
00:02:33.280 to go back and forth between Vancouver and Ottawa, and about 20 tonnes of CO2. And you're also
00:02:38.700 spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, which would be getting us to find out, especially
00:02:43.440 with access to information and that system that you actually haven't improved, as you
00:02:47.160 probably would in 2015. Why isn't the Liberal Party of Canada paying the entire bill of your
00:02:52.700 trip so to British Columbia at this time?
00:02:54.660 B.C. is a second home to me. This is a part of the country that matters deeply. And too often,
00:03:01.040 decisions made in Ottawa have negative impacts here in B.C. when people aren't connected here
00:03:07.400 on the ground. He ducked, he dived, and he tried to offload blame on Harper again. To
00:03:14.320 his credit, Mackin tried to hold his feet to the fire on the question of cost, and Trudeau
00:03:19.320 said it was his greatest pleasure as Prime Minister to fly around the country. He neglected to mention
00:03:25.540 it's on the taxpayer's dime. The arrogance and entitlement and refusal to accept any sort
00:03:32.460 of accountability is shameless. As I speak to you, he is on, by my count, flight number 127
00:03:39.460 of this year, heading a few thousand kilometres to Equality to make an announcement. He will
00:03:45.180 then fly another 1,200 kilometres from there to take part in some sort of Arctic feast. Flight
00:03:51.020 129 will then return him to Ottawa. Fundraisers, funding announcements, and photo ops, that's
00:03:57.900 all he is doing in this pre-election period, and all paid for by taxpayers. For barely 200
00:04:03.800 days into the year, and he has spent more time on taxpayer-funded flights, burning hundreds
00:04:08.360 of thousands of litres of fuel, emitting God knows how much carbon emissions as he rams
00:04:13.620 as carbon tax down the throats of Canadians. And for all that, he takes no blame, and no
00:04:20.040 responsibility. For True North, I'm Leo Knight.
