00:00:35.980 community really just ratcheted up its opposition to this and said, when you say that you're just
00:00:41.940 going after the so-called killing machines and not the hunters, how do you justify these bona fide
00:00:46.740 hunting firearms being on the banned list? And of course, the gun community talks about this. I talk
00:00:53.080 about it. The straw that broke the camel's back was a guy that I had never heard of talking about it.

00:02:09.460 back to that. So Carey Price, the supposed defensive tackle for the Montreal Canadiens,
00:02:15.820 comes out and says he's a law-abiding gun owner and takes aim at Justin Trudeau for going after
00:02:23.680 people like him. And this was, I'd say, actually very relevant because he permeates beyond just the
00:02:32.240 world of standard gun owners, sport shooters, hunters. He has an audience that is broader
00:02:39.600 than that. And I think he put a human face on firearms ownership, which doesn't really exist
00:02:44.020 a lot of the time in the debate. And it was fascinating. And you fast forward to yesterday
00:02:50.760 and Justin Trudeau says, no, no, no, we're going to actually take a look at this and consult on this.
00:02:57.080 Take a look at the clip. We made a commitment to continue to move forward with strong smart gun
00:03:04.020 control in this country to keep communities safe, to keep Canadians safe. And we're going to continue
00:03:09.920 to do that. We move forward with a national freeze on handguns. And a few years ago, we banned military
00:03:18.160 style assault weapons. Sorry, banned assault style weapons. We're going to continue to do that.
00:03:27.840 Now, we've just put forward a list and we're consulting with Canadians on that. We're hearing
00:03:32.880 a lot of feedback around concerns that hunters are saying about guns that they use more for hunting
00:03:39.800 or hunting rifles or shotguns. And that's what we're listening to feedback on now to make sure
00:03:46.300 that we're not capturing weapons that are primarily hunting weapons. But we all know that we need to
00:03:54.560 make sure that guns that are designed to kill the largest number of people as quickly as possible
00:03:59.840 have no place in Canada. And we're going to continue to move forward with that in a strong
00:04:05.500 and smart way. We'll continue to listen to Canadians. We're not going after hunting rifles or shotguns.
00:04:11.900 We're targeting the most dangerous weapons, the weapons that were used in places like
00:04:16.840 École Polytechnique or recently in South Simcoe or in Portapique that have caused far too much
00:04:24.560 tragedy over the past many, many years. So we're moving forward in a responsive way. Some conservative
00:04:32.320 politicians at the federal level want to restore military style assault weapons. We're not going to let
00:04:40.540 them do that. We're going to continue to keep communities safe in a smart way that respects
00:04:44.560 law-abiding gun owners.
00:04:47.960 I'm told that my plan to start the True North Sports Hour is not a plan that has been approved
00:04:56.100 by True North Management. So I believe it was all set to happen. And then you come out and make one
00:05:01.820 crack about the Montreal Canadiens and it all goes to hell in a handbasket. But Justin Trudeau's clip there
00:05:08.380 was a fascinating one because he says, oh no, no, no, we're just consulting. We put out this list just
00:05:14.400 so we could consult and hear from people. No, you put out the list because you wanted to ban them.
00:05:20.180 You wanted to ban bolt action hunting rifles. Now, if you don't know anything about guns,
00:05:24.560 that's fine. A bolt action rifle is a rifle that you need to manually reload by pulling back the bolt,
00:05:32.100 the action, every single shot on. It is not a mass killing machine. It could kill if in the wrong
00:05:39.340 hands, like any firearm could kill if in the wrong hands and in the right hands could save a life or
00:05:44.660 at the very least cause no risk to public safety whatsoever. So there were guns that were undeniably
00:05:52.160 hunting guns on that list. This was not a consultation. This was not the liberals saying,
00:05:57.660 we'd like to hear your feedback. This was the liberals thinking they could sneak in yet another
00:06:03.000 ban that does nothing to stop gun crime. When was the last time there was a, I should have pulled it
00:06:08.760 for the show. There was a picture that the Toronto police posted of a mass seizure of illegal handguns.
00:06:14.620 And when you look through, you can actually scan them. There are a few dozen guns in the picture
00:06:18.160 and not a single one of them is a bolt action hunting rifle. There's no 22 caliber rifle on there.
00:06:24.760 There's no weather B mark five. There's nothing in there that it all resembles the firearms that the
00:06:30.600 federal government is trying to ban now because they're already illegal. And even if the guns
00:06:36.040 themselves were not prohibited, the application of them, people buying them illegally, carrying them
00:06:41.700 illegally and doing so under the basis of organized crime is already captured by the law.

00:06:54.760 So that's, that's the photo. And you can look through that list. Every single one of those
00:07:00.680 firearms illegally owned, not a single one is bolt action. Not a single one is a shotgun. Not a single
00:07:07.660 one of those guns was taken off the streets by Canada's gun laws. Now I say absolutely throw the
00:07:14.860 book at the people that sold those guns, trafficked them, the people that use them, throw the book at them.
00:07:20.600 And every law abiding gun owner in this country would stand behind me when I say that because gun
00:07:26.740 owners are the safest demographic group in this country. If they are law abiding licensed gun
00:07:33.740 owners, we are background checked. We are screened. We take safety very seriously because we know that
00:07:40.920 you are more likely to hurt yourself. If you mess around with firearms, then you are to hurt someone else.
00:07:47.540 So that's why gun owners take this stuff so seriously. Gun owners are the most tough on
00:07:54.440 firearms crime people you will find. Except they're actually interested in real firearms crime,
00:08:02.180 not these paper crimes that admit that exists because the government one day says we don't like
00:08:07.440 those dirty, stinking conservative gun owners. We want to make them overnight criminals. We want to
00:08:12.380 ban their property. We want to make it illegal for them to go to the range. We want to make it illegal
00:08:18.040 for them to pass down family heirlooms. We want to make it illegal for them to do something that brings
00:08:22.620 them joy, or in the case of hunters and ranchers, that does something that is central to their lives.
00:08:29.340 And this liberal government doesn't get to hide behind, oh, we're just consulting with you. No.
00:08:34.520 So you are trying to once again criminalize a segment of the population because you know that group is
