00:00:00.000 The SNC-Lavalin scandal just isn't going away. Less than 60 days out from an election,
00:00:15.500 the biggest scandal of the government of Justin Trudeau has reared its ugly head again with the
00:00:20.680 release of the ethics commissioner's report. But not content with the report detailing the
00:00:26.840 corruption of the prime minister and others in his office, but also the supposedly independent
00:00:31.500 Privy Council office, the liberals doubled down their misbehavior when the majority of liberals
00:00:37.760 on the ethics committee voted not to hear from the ethics commissioner on his report detailing
00:00:43.240 the breach in ethics of the PM and members of the PMO. You really can't make this stuff up.
00:00:51.360 The ethics committee only exists to oversee the ethics of members of parliament.
00:00:56.840 Why they wouldn't want to hear from the ethics commissioner detailing his investigation
00:01:01.920 into a breach of the ethics legislation by the prime minister is frankly stunning.
00:01:08.900 Why do they think they're there in the first place? One can only imagine the prime minister
00:01:14.660 thinks he can ride this out and still win re-election come October. And why not? Given the
00:01:20.840 legacy he inherited from previous liberal governments. Canadians have short memories, and voters have
00:01:27.420 likely forgotten liberal scandals such as Schwinnegade, the billion-dollar boondoggle, HRDC, Chuck
00:01:35.220 Gita, Alfonso Galliano, Project Sidewinder, and AdScan, which ultimately toppled the government of Paul
00:01:42.180 Martin. The liberals have always thought the rules don't apply to them, and Justin Trudeau has inherited that
00:01:49.120 mantle and acts accordingly. For liberals, corruption is their culture.
00:01:54.100 It will be interesting to see how much of this sticks in the upcoming election. Make no mistake about it,
00:02:01.540 in attempting to interfere with the independence of the justice system, the prime minister committed
00:02:07.180 a huge sin. Canada is based on the rule of law. His attempt to put his finger on the scales of justice to
00:02:15.020 benefit the corporate friends of the liberal party goes against the very fabric of what this country is.
00:02:21.580 As noted elsewhere on these pages, the prime minister broke the law, but it doesn't appear
00:02:26.980 he'll face any punishment. Even if the RCMP are investigating this mess, and they should be,
00:02:32.880 nothing much will happen before the election in October, at least on the surface of things anyway.
00:02:37.580 It remains to be seen how Canadians will view all of this when it comes time to go to the ballot box.
