00:00:00.000 There are news stories out there pointing out the incredulous fact that so far only 4% of
00:00:10.960 Canadians have downloaded the federal government's COVID-19 tracking app. How can this possibly be
00:00:16.700 only 4%? Why didn't everybody rush out to download the thing? Well, there's been some other news
00:00:22.000 stories lamenting the fact that this is not the most accessible app, that there are some Canadians
00:00:26.760 who may not have it because there's only certain phones it works for and you need a newer operating
00:00:31.700 system. So the government maybe made a mistake by not making it as available to all Canadians as
00:00:37.380 possible. Okay, fine. Interesting point there. I've maybe got a humble suggestion as to why only 4%
00:00:44.420 of people have downloaded this thing. Because at first you go, hey, great news guys. I no longer
00:00:49.680 have to be worried about my exposure to coronavirus. Justin Trudeau has me covered. I can walk around
00:00:55.300 and do as I please. Still got to wear a mask and keep my distance. But I don't have to be anxious
00:00:58.960 about my interactions. Because if I've been in contact with somebody who's had coronavirus,
00:01:04.300 if I've passed them in the grocery store or what have you, ping, I'm going to get told after that
00:01:08.440 person registers as confirmed for having it, that I came in contact with someone. Then I can go get
00:01:13.600 tested and the system will work. Well, hold on a second. So how do they actually know that I crossed
00:01:20.180 paths with someone who had it? Well, because this app follows you everywhere you go and of course
00:01:26.280 keeps information about where you've gone, keeps that whole chart of everywhere you've been the
00:01:31.280 past however many weeks, and they're keeping the information about the other guy. And oh, every
00:01:36.100 single other person signed on to this app. Guys, if back, you know, when coronavirus first emerged,
00:01:42.640 when it was in Wuhan in January, if I had said, you watch, the Canadian government is going to urge
00:01:49.000 people to download an app where they track where everybody goes all the time to do this cross
00:01:54.220 referencing geolocating thing. You'd say, Fury, you're crazy. You saw that scene in The Dark Knight
00:01:58.960 where Batman and Morgan Freeman, they use a similar thing. And then they destroy it at the end of the
00:02:03.180 movie because they realize it's such an evil instrument. That's never going to happen in Canada.
00:02:07.900 And here we are, Justin Trudeau urging people to download it and the government being flummoxed,
00:02:13.040 flummoxed by the fact that only 4% have downloaded it. Well, hats off to the other 96%.
00:02:18.980 And a few out there who clearly have some common sense about all of this. Look, I know people have
00:02:23.260 downloaded it to see how it works. It's a bit of a test, a trial. And apparently sources say
00:02:28.820 the privacy is better quality than Facebook. And you're like, oh, that's just great. Facebook,
00:02:34.920 which quite frankly, I don't really trust these days anymore. I hardly ever use the thing except
00:02:39.580 to post some columns here and there. I certainly don't put a whole bunch of personal information
00:02:43.440 up there. Guys, user beware in all of this. I'm not downloading this app. Are you?
