In the opening ceremony of the 2014 Paris Olympics, Christians were mocked and derided in the most insulting way possible. At times, it looked less like an opening ceremony for the Olympics and more like a satanic ritual full of degeneracy and open mockery towards Christians.

00:00:00.000 Most people, unless you happen to be a major sports fan, don't watch the Olympics anymore.
00:00:28.920 You can't really blame them, seeing as how the Olympics has fully embraced the idea that confused and mentally ill men can compete against women at Olympic-level sport. 0.98
00:00:38.500 But even if you don't watch the Olympics and don't care much for sports, you very likely came across clips of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, if you can even call it that, on Friday.
00:00:49.600 At times, it looked less like an opening ceremony for the Olympic Games and more like a satanic ritual full of degeneracy and open mockery towards Christians. 0.93
00:01:01.060 The Last Supper was recreated with a fat acceptance and gay rights activist who also happens to be a DJ playing the role of Jesus Christ. 0.87
00:01:12.020 And on either side of the morbidly obese woman playing the role of Jesus Christ, the apostles were replaced by drag queens. 1.00
00:01:20.000 Now really, that's just one part of a truly insulting and outrageous opening ceremony, which culminated in worldwide backlash to the point where the International Olympic Committee had to issue a formal apology.
00:01:32.820 This is not a story about sports.
00:01:34.360 This is a story about how the world's largest institutions, like the Olympics, think that it's acceptable and normal to treat Christians in this insulting way.
00:01:44.840 To use one of the largest platforms in the world to insult the Christian faith.
00:01:50.740 Now just imagine if the Olympic organizers decided to mock Islam and Muhammad instead of Jesus Christ at this opening ceremony.
00:01:58.120 Well actually, we don't need to imagine because we know what happens when you do that in France.
00:02:01.880 Before we get into the show, be sure to drop a like on this video, help us out by subscribing to the TrueNorth YouTube channel,
00:02:07.140 and the common question for the episode is this.
00:02:10.520 Why did the Paris Olympics organizers openly mock Christians in the opening ceremony?
00:02:17.120 Let me know your answer in the comment section below, and let's get into it.
00:02:20.420 Well we start the show with the disgraceful drag queen recreation of The Last Supper. 1.00
00:02:25.340 Many people watching this on television live might have thought of themselves that they switched the channel to something totally different
00:02:31.700 than an Olympics opening ceremony.
00:02:33.740 No, no, this was part of the Olympics opening ceremony.
00:02:38.120 Well as you can imagine, it didn't get any better from that point on.
00:02:41.280 You see before that, it was like a genuine Olympics opening ceremony.
00:02:44.660 The athletes were introduced by country, they were floating down the river in boats waving their national flags.
00:02:51.760 So once that actual official part of the ceremony was taken care of,
00:02:55.440 the degeneracy and blasphemy really began.
00:02:58.360 The drag queen Last Supper recreation was followed by this performance of a bearded transvestite dancing and lip-syncing on stage. 0.92
00:03:13.820 Alright, that's quite enough of that.
00:03:15.500 You then had what the Olympics described as a recreation of the Greek god Dionysus.
00:03:19.540 But what most people saw on social media was a barely-dressed, flamboyant French smurf. 1.00
00:03:26.040 As you can see from this quick video, it wasn't exactly clear what they're trying to do.
00:03:37.640 What the hell is even that?
00:03:39.620 Now during this opening ceremony performance, one of the French dancers standing behind a child 0.99
00:03:47.580 had his testicles out of his shorts on television for everyone to see. 0.92
00:03:54.160 Totally normal thing to happen at an Olympics opening ceremony, right? 0.99
00:03:58.720 You then had a French metal band celebrating the beheading of Mary Antoinette.
00:04:04.080 At the very least, it's extremely distasteful and quite strange.
00:04:08.100 But I think most people looked at this and thought it was all quite demonic.
00:04:11.980 To be fair, it really did fit in with the theme of the rest of the show.
00:04:15.600 You then had, and I kid you not, a pale horse floating down the Seine River.
00:04:21.420 A scene straight out of the Book of Revelations,
00:04:24.460 in which the pale horse brings about hell and death to the earth.
00:04:28.860 As the opening ceremony was taking place,
00:04:31.460 and as the open mockery and ridicule towards Christians was happening,
00:04:35.180 Emmanuel Macron, the French president, couldn't help himself but publicly write on Twitter,
00:04:40.060 this is France.
00:04:41.560 Yeah, well, no kidding.
00:04:43.100 What a thing to celebrate. 0.95
00:04:44.340 Mockery of Christians in front of a billion people. 0.99
00:04:47.680 And as you could have guessed, Christians around the world,
00:04:50.280 and even non-Christians,
00:04:51.800 were outraged by what they saw at this opening ceremony performance.
00:04:54.940 Now, none of this had anything to do with sport,
00:04:57.340 or even celebrating French culture,
00:04:59.540 seeing as how the centerpiece of this performance was a morbidly obese, 0.90
00:05:02.540 fat acceptance activist, 0.99
00:05:04.460 and gay DJ. 0.96
00:05:06.360 The Bishop's Conference of France came out publicly and said the following,
00:05:10.280 This ceremony, unfortunately, included scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity,
00:05:14.540 which we deeply deplore.
00:05:16.460 U.S. Speaker Mike Johnson wrote this on social media,
00:05:19.600 Last night's mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world
00:05:24.380 who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
00:05:27.340 The war on our faith and traditional values knows no bounds today,
00:05:30.900 but we know that truth and virtue will prevail.
00:05:34.300 And then he quotes a Bible passage from the Book of John,
00:05:37.000 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
00:05:40.780 Now, take a listen to the reaction from American Catholic Bishop Robert Barron.
00:05:44.880 You know, I love the Olympics, so I turn on the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.
00:05:48.220 What do I see now? And it's in Paris, France, a city I love.
00:05:51.240 I spent three years as a doctoral student there.
00:05:53.840 What do I see but this gross mockery of the Last Supper?
00:05:59.640 And I won't describe it any further. Just go online. It's gone viral. You can see it.
00:06:03.600 But this, France felt evidently, as it's trying to put its best cultural foot forward,
00:06:09.300 the right thing to do is to mock this very central moment in Christianity 1.00
00:06:15.020 where Jesus, at his Last Supper, gives his body and blood in anticipation of the cross.
00:06:21.700 And so it's presented, though, is this gross sort of flippant mockery.
00:06:26.640 France, which used to be called the eldest daughter of the church,
00:06:30.080 Paris that gave us, Thomas Aquinas taught there, and Vincent de Paul was there,
00:06:34.540 King Louis IX, St. Louis, France that sent Catholic missionaries all over the world.
00:06:38.840 So France, whose culture, and I mean the honoring of the individual and of human rights and of freedom,
00:06:45.860 is grounded very much in Christianity, felt the right thing to do was to mock the Christian faith. 0.98
00:06:54.300 You know, a question I would pose, we all know the answer to it.
00:06:57.640 Would they ever have dared mock Islam in a similar way? 1.00
00:07:01.320 Would they ever have dreamed of mocking in this gross, you know, public way,
00:07:06.020 a scene from the Quran? As I say, we all know the answer to that. 0.98
00:07:10.480 As far as we can tell, one of the only companies to pull all of their advertising from the Olympic Games
00:07:16.400 happens to be a United States regional telecoms company called C Spire.
00:07:22.180 After the disgraceful mockery of the Last Supper,
00:07:25.540 C Spire immediately pulled all of their advertising and took their frustrations to social media.
00:07:30.800 We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
00:07:34.960 C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics.
00:07:38.560 Marion Maréchal, a French member of European Parliament, also took her frustrations to social media.
00:07:44.460 To all the Christians of the world who are watching the Paris 2024 opening ceremony
00:07:48.640 and felt insulted by this drag queen parody of the Last Supper, 0.58
00:07:52.540 know that it is not France that is speaking,
00:07:54.800 but a left-wing minority ready for any provocation.
00:07:58.680 Now, the reaction to this recreation of the Last Supper
00:08:02.000 from social media users across the world was swift and relentless.
00:08:07.600 Take a look at this video posted to social media sharing the video I originally posted
00:08:12.840 by a user called Clint Russell from the Liberty Lockdown podcast.
00:08:18.320 This video has over 29 million impressions on social media.
00:08:23.600 This is crazy.
00:08:24.800 Opening your event by replacing Jesus and the disciples at the Last Supper with men in drag, 0.99
00:08:28.960 there are 2.4 billion Christians on earth,
00:08:32.080 and apparently the Olympics wanted to declare loudly to all of them,
00:08:35.280 right out of the gate, not welcome.
00:08:37.680 Riley Gaines, a University of Kentucky swimmer who had to compete against Liam Thomas,
00:08:42.860 the man who decided he could be a woman and compete against women, wrote the following,
00:08:48.240 men in wigs front and center at the Olympic Games.
00:08:51.620 No one ever tell me this group is oppressed or marginalized again.
00:08:55.620 And UK journalist Piers Morgan also got in on the action.
00:08:58.520 By the way, what the F was all this about?
00:09:01.180 A drag queen mockery of the Last Supper at the Olympics? 1.00
00:09:04.020 Would they have mocked any other religion like this? 0.74
00:09:06.480 Appalling decision.
00:09:07.700 We all know the answer to that.
00:09:09.000 The answer is no.
00:09:10.600 At no point would the Olympics ever dare to mock or criticize Islam in this way.
00:09:17.120 Especially in France.
00:09:18.700 Because you know what happens in France when you make a cartoon of Muhammad? 0.59
00:09:22.560 Well, you lose your life. 0.98
00:09:24.040 You get beheaded in the street. 0.57
00:09:27.140 Or you get gunned down in your offices.
00:09:29.400 Well, on Saturday, the Olympics actually felt as though they could defend this opening ceremony.
00:09:33.400 They thought this was something that was good.
00:09:35.520 It was positive.
00:09:36.620 It celebrated French culture.
00:09:38.100 The executive director of the Olympic Games, Christophe Duby, said that the opening ceremony displayed determination, vision, creativity, and that the ceremony broke the mold.
00:09:51.680 It certainly broke the mold.
00:09:52.920 It was an opening ceremony of an Olympic Games like no other.
00:09:56.700 Seeing as how the Olympic Games opening ceremony is supposed to highlight the culture and history of the host nation, to highlight the history of the Olympic Games, and to celebrate sporting greatness.
00:10:09.020 Not whatever this is.
00:10:11.080 Well, by Sunday, the pressure on the Olympics was simply too much.
00:10:13.620 And they were forced to issue an apology to the world, an apology to Christians, for this opening ceremony. 0.98
00:10:20.560 Well, of course, they couldn't bring themselves to actually apologize to Christians. 0.99
00:10:24.340 They had to dance around it and say to anyone who was offended of any faith, we're sorry.
00:10:29.880 They couldn't, of course, bring themselves to apologize to Christians directly. 0.64
00:10:34.300 Here is Anne Deschamps, the communications director for the Paris Olympic Games, issuing that formal apology.
00:10:40.840 Clearly, there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group.
00:10:49.060 On the contrary, I think that Tomajouni really tried to, really intend to celebrate community tolerance.
00:10:56.140 That was his word yesterday.
00:10:58.540 And looking at the result of the polls that we shared, we believe that this ambition was achieved.
00:11:04.960 If people have taken any offense, we are, of course, really, really sorry.
00:11:11.420 Now, the creative director of the opening ceremony, the mastermind of the whole performance, was a man named Thomas Jolly.
00:11:19.860 Well, they had to bring him out in front of the press to explain himself after the world reacted to his outrageous performance.
00:11:26.680 And this is what he said, Republican ideas, like this, inclusive ideas, like this, ideas of kindness, like this, ideas of solidarity, like this.
00:11:42.720 Now, that's what the Olympics says.
00:11:43.800 They had no intention of mocking Christians.
00:11:47.100 They had no intention of recreating important biblical scenes in the Christian faith. 0.97
00:11:52.180 However, the fat gay activist DJ, DJ Barbara Butch, that's the woman in the middle depicting Jesus Christ, 0.94
00:12:00.600 went on social media and told the world that that is exactly what they were doing. 0.98
00:12:04.880 In fact, she called that display the, quote, gay New Testament.
00:12:10.200 On her Instagram account, she shared another user's Instagram story, writing,
00:12:15.800 Oh yes, oh yes, the new gay testament. 1.00
00:12:18.600 She then shared another user's Instagram story to her own Instagram page, which calls her Olympic Jesus.
00:12:27.260 And then she also added the text at the bottom of this story, saying Thomas Jolly, the creative director of the opening ceremony, is president of the world.
00:12:37.560 She then shared an NBC News article with the following headline,
00:12:42.600 Drag performance resembling last supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives. 0.92
00:12:48.040 She also just keeps going.
00:12:51.100 This woman also shared on her story another user on Instagram who made a thread showing the other recreations of the Last Supper
00:12:59.340 and making the case that really it's not that bad that the Olympics did this because, you know, Nintendo did this, Star Wars did this.
00:13:07.660 So the centerpiece of the performance was on social media admitting that she was Olympic Jesus,
00:13:14.500 that they read recreated the Last Supper.
00:13:18.040 She admitted that before the Olympics came out and said that actually all of that had nothing to do with the Olympics.
00:13:24.540 It was actually the Greek god Dionysus and the Olympics had no intention of offending anyone.
00:13:29.660 The Olympics says they're really, really sorry if anyone was offended by what they had done.
00:13:36.360 And you know what happened at the end of the Olympics opening ceremony, just to really top it all off? 0.98
00:13:43.040 The idiots who organized it managed to raise the Olympic flag upside down. 0.99
00:13:49.540 Talk about the symbolism there. 1.00
00:13:51.040 And you know what happened on Saturday night in Paris, a day after this open ridicule of Christianity took place,
00:13:57.880 this open mockery of Jesus Christ?
00:14:00.800 Well, Paris was struck by a major blackout in the city.
00:14:06.480 They lost all electricity.
00:14:08.880 Their power was shut off.
00:14:10.140 In fact, some of the only lights that were still left on in Paris were the lights that shined on the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral overlooking the city.
00:14:19.920 I guess that's what happens when you decide to insult God in front of billions of people.
00:14:24.660 All right, everyone, that's going to do it for us today on the show.
00:14:26.860 Thank you so much for tuning in.
