00:00:00.000 Franco, we've been chatting about how the federal government can save money and some of these
00:00:06.120 headlines that we're seeing from the federal government unions, I'm sorry, but they're kind
00:00:10.840 of laughable. It seems like they're running around like chicken little. What's the vibe
00:00:15.000 on the street there in Ottawa? Well, look, I think this is going to be the biggest fight
00:00:18.880 as we head into the fall session of parliament, right? I mean, look, truth be told, we actually
00:00:24.400 don't know what Carney is going to do with spending, right? We don't know what he's going
00:00:27.380 to do with the bureaucracy we haven't seen a budget yet however the carny government should
00:00:32.560 be cutting the size and growth of the bureaucracy right like the federal bureaucracy is so bloated
00:00:37.700 it costs you way too much money i mean look the federal government added 99 000 extra bureaucrats
00:00:44.300 since 2016 you're paying for 99 000 extra federal paper pushers and the cost of the bureaucracy has
00:00:51.540 gone up 77% in less than a decade. But get this, folks, like Canadians aren't getting better 1.00
00:00:57.580 services, right? We just commissioned a poll from Leger that shows that half of Canadians say
00:01:03.220 federal services have gotten worse since 2016. So you're paying an arm and a leg for this bloated
00:01:09.220 bureaucracy. Your tax bill is going up. The government debt bill is going up. Yet federal
00:01:13.060 services are getting worse, half of Canadians say. So look, I think there's going to be a big fight.
00:01:18.980 I think these greedy government union bosses are going to light their hair on fire.
00:01:23.060 But if the Kearney government is willing to do the right thing, it has to roll up its sleeves and it has to fire some bureaucrats.
00:01:28.560 I was seeing some headlines there.
00:01:30.560 I don't know if it was PSAC or one of the other government unions there that was saying, oh, my goodness, you know, if we cut too deep, it's going to affect our DEI program.
00:01:39.620 I kind of found that funny.
00:01:41.160 Here we go.
00:01:41.860 Advocates warn federal budget cuts could reduce diversity and inclusion initiatives.
00:01:46.300 I'm seeing that all over X this morning as well.
00:01:48.980 And I kind of had to laugh to myself because last I checked, most taxpayers want the government to do really basic things.
00:01:56.000 They don't need them wading into grant approvals for, I don't know, lesbian pirate musicals, for example. 0.99
00:02:03.520 Yeah, or I don't know, spending $100,000 tracking the birth, life and death of a grocery cart.
00:02:10.020 Yes, the federal government has actually spent your money that way.
00:02:12.540 or how about this uh 20 grand for a report about the gender politics of peruvian rock music okay
00:02:20.860 or how about this doozy right eight grand studying the uh what sexual and gender identities in online
00:02:26.900 harry potter fan communities i mean what an absolute waste of money uh we all know that
00:02:32.220 jk rowling's stance on gender is pretty firm plus grown-up harry potter nerds never get laid so i
00:02:38.140 don't know why the government is spending eight grand on a report like that but like look it's
00:02:42.880 not even just this silly small examples of ways that we can go on and on about uh look when the
00:02:48.140 government can't do the little things right you can bet the government isn't doing the big things
00:02:52.080 right
