00:00:00.000 As most of you know, I'm a law-knower guy, and it is through that lens that I see most issues.
00:00:12.400 A clear exception is the spectacle, or debacle if you will, that the Adamson barbecue situation in Toronto has become.
00:00:20.140 A courageous business owner, Adam Skelly, has openly defied big government in their shutdown or lockdown rules across the GTA.
00:00:31.380 Skelly owns Adamson barbecue in Etobicoke, and has refused to knuckle under to draconian government edicts and shut his business and his means of making a living down.
00:00:42.120 The premier, Doug Ford, and the mayor of Toronto, John Tory, have both taken umbrage at this horrid little man that dares to defy them.
00:00:54.820 Tory has sent in Toronto police for several days in a row now, and they have laid thus far nine charges that carry incredibly high fines against Skelly and his business.
00:01:06.860 Fines that could bankrupt his business.
00:01:10.200 All Skelly has done is to continue to cook slow-roasted barbecue beef and to serve his customers,
00:01:17.200 who, by the way, have also been threatened with fines for the offense of showing up and buying some barbecue beef on a bun.
00:01:25.260 Doug Ford should go searching for the common sense he once had when he came into office.
00:01:31.500 Perhaps he left it in a jar behind an office door.
00:01:34.240 This morning, after changing the locks on the restaurant yesterday, the Toronto police took Skelly away in handcuffs and shut the restaurant down again.
00:01:44.420 Handcuffs? Really?
00:01:46.300 Like he's dangerous.
00:01:48.680 Despite there not being a scintilla of evidence that any cases of COVID-19 have emanated from the barbecue, none, as in not one,
00:01:57.780 he has been as diligent as any restaurant or owner could be to protect his staff and his customers.
00:02:05.540 This is a good example of government overreach, as I could come up with.
00:02:11.740 Good for Adam Skelly, I say.
00:02:14.120 He is sticking his middle finger up to tyranny, and for that, we should all support him.
00:02:19.420 Rights cannot be taken away.
00:02:22.500 If we allow that, then they are just privileges.
00:02:26.300 No more significant than having a driver's license.
00:02:29.800 I would argue that the right to own a business and earn an honest living in this country is much more significant than that.
