00:00:00.000 So it seems like another week goes by and we're always talking about the CBC.
00:00:04.540 They seem to have this real commitment, Rupa, of making documentaries or programs that are kind of just rooted in hating Canada
00:00:13.900 or really, you know, casting shade on this country.
00:00:17.860 And I want to show you this first story we found, which is just really perfect for this program, and it's totally insane.
00:00:24.540 So it turns out that the CBC is introducing a new variety show on CBC Gem.
00:00:31.160 You have to pay for this one because, of course, the money we pay to the CBC isn't enough.
00:00:35.260 You have to pay about $5 a month to access this show.
00:00:39.120 And when I read it out to you, maybe you'll start to think about other places you could probably put your $5 to that are far better than this
00:00:46.120 because this is really something.
00:00:48.120 So there's a new program out on the CBC called Lido TV, and it's a variety show.
00:00:52.540 And I just want to read to you the show description because it really just kind of, I think, shows us all where the CBC is at this current time.
00:01:01.840 So there's a new program.
00:01:03.100 It's called Lido TV, and this is how the CBC describes it.
00:01:06.020 Lido TV is a variety show with a mission to help people cope with life in a world that sometimes feels like it's falling apart,
00:01:12.560 filled with hilarious sketches, inspiring interviews, immersive documentaries, surreal animations, and puppets.
00:01:17.660 How fun.
00:01:18.120 At the center of it is our host, Lido Pimienta, the award-winning Colombian-Canadian musician, artist, and mother
00:01:24.580 whose hilarious, curious, and tender personality drives the action.
00:01:28.180 The series tackles themes ranging from feminism and privilege to colonialism and success,
00:01:33.840 and features appearances by Nelly Furtado, musicians Shad and Kitty, writer Sarah Haggie,
00:01:40.580 nor black, nor white co-founder Mariga Capadia, and artists Jess Satchesee and Jessica Kurehanga.
00:01:49.280 So anyway, it's going to be all about feminism, Rupa. 1.00
00:01:52.320 It's going to be all about tackling the privileges of colonialism and success.
00:01:57.380 Wow.
00:01:57.640 I'm just really chomping at the bit to get this Lido TV program.
00:02:03.340 Well, that's not me.
00:02:08.120 I saw a clip.
00:02:10.440 Someone shared a clip from the show.
00:02:12.780 I'm not quite sure what to make of this,
00:02:15.160 except that I'm really angry that our tax dollars are going towards funding this kind of thing.
00:02:22.220 Well, for one thing, the talking tomato totally creeped me out.
00:02:28.020 I thought it was a rock at first, but then it turns out it's a tomato,
00:02:32.940 which talks to you about colonialism and racism and that sort of thing.
00:02:39.720 But, you know, none of this should surprise us, really, right?
00:02:43.920 Because this is very much in line with all of the woke nonsense that the CBC has been promoting over the years.
00:02:51.880 And unfortunately, these are our tax dollars funding this.
00:02:56.880 I'm a little confused, Harrison, because I thought this was a children's show.
00:03:00.980 But is it a variety show?
00:03:02.600 It's a children's show.
00:03:03.440 It's a children's variety show.
00:03:04.640 I'm not quite sure who this is geared towards, because some people said this is not necessarily geared towards kids.
00:03:11.960 But, you know, if this is geared towards kids, obviously, this is a form of indoctrination.
00:03:17.960 Look, I think kids should be taught about colonialism, the evils of colonialism.
00:03:23.660 No sensible person is going to deny that, you know, colonialism was not good.
00:03:30.320 But and it had some bad, you know, bad consequences for the people it colonized.
00:03:37.180 But I think we have to approach this very carefully when it comes to teaching children this sort of thing.
00:03:42.720 I think teaching history has to be balanced.
00:03:46.660 And where I where I disagree is that, you know, we're in this constant state of self-flagellation when it comes to our history, where, you know, we're constantly blaming the white colonizer for everything that's gone wrong with society.
00:04:02.820 And and that's not a good direction to go in.
00:04:06.700 And so, by all means, teach children about history and and colonialism and racism and so on and so forth.
00:04:13.700 But I don't agree with the approach that the CBC is taking as far as this show is concerned.
00:04:19.600 No, exactly.
00:04:20.440 And so you're exactly right about this confusion when we first see it.
00:04:23.620 And we're going to play that we're going to play this this trailer for you because you really have to see it for yourself.
00:04:28.300 When you first see it, your first instinct surely is, of course, this is a television.
00:04:32.220 This is a kids show.
00:04:33.040 This is meant for kids.
00:04:34.180 But nowhere in the show description does it say that.
00:04:36.660 It's just on the CBC Gem streaming platform.
00:04:39.580 So we're going to play the trailer for you.
00:04:41.520 You tell us what you think.
00:04:42.800 First of all, if you think this is for kids, OK, this is what you probably think, right?
00:04:46.760 You probably think it is for kids.
00:04:48.380 Apparently, it's not.
00:04:49.300 Check out this trailer.
00:04:50.520 This is where your tax dollars are going, guys.
00:04:52.480 This is where it's going.
00:04:53.300 Check this out.
00:04:58.300 Hi, and welcome.
00:05:06.600 Get it!
00:05:07.560 Hey, girl. 0.99
00:05:09.320 Happy to be here.
00:05:10.360 Good for you.
00:05:15.800 What a beautiful day to talk about colonialism.
00:05:24.420 Juicy.
00:05:28.300 How does it feel to be responsible for night 11?
00:05:36.520 A knee, Lido.
00:05:37.820 We are giving your family's land back to the local Anishinaabe people! 1.00
00:05:42.160 Sounds like freedom to me.
00:05:44.420 Isn't it true that feminists don't like boys? 1.00
00:05:47.600 I think we're really going to need this episode.
00:05:50.500 I had to be this delicate flower when all I wanted to do was scream. 0.97
00:06:01.720 You didn't give a f***. 0.99
00:06:03.240 Yeah? 0.99
00:06:03.880 Like my wise indigenous grandmother always says. 0.97
00:06:08.520 You're not ugly, you're just poor. 0.98
00:06:11.440 You're not ugly, you're just poor. 0.99
00:06:14.040 You're not ugly, you're just poor. 0.99
00:06:16.740 You're not ugly, you're just poor. 0.98
00:06:22.080 Where am I? 0.80
00:06:23.220 And Rupa, you bring up the whole point about the fact that our taxpayer dollars are going
00:06:27.420 to this and really many Canadians shouldn't be happy about this.
00:06:30.460 But it gets even worse, actually, because not only, of course, are our tax dollars going
00:06:34.460 to these CBC programs, which of course are kind of rooted in Canada bashing, rooted in
00:06:38.880 painting this country out to be some evil place, but it gets even worse.
00:06:42.600 This production company, Lido TV, get this, they actually received $70,000 of taxpayer money
00:06:51.240 from Factor, which I guess is part of the government funding.
00:06:56.960 They got $70,000 to, I guess, help promote these programs.
00:07:01.320 $25,000 of those $70,000 is under the guise of emergency support.
00:07:06.760 So really, the government clearly, desperately didn't want this Lido TV program to go under
00:07:12.120 during COVID.
00:07:12.800 So they pump it up with taxpayer money, and then of course, on comes the CBC to promote
00:07:17.220 this program, which is clearly rooted in, I guess, Canada bashing.
00:07:21.240 So they stay tuned for the new community.
00:07:27.680 So, they made their sleep instead of their tablets, again, and this is starting to drain
00:07:28.680 by now watching these battles incredibly sigu bugged.
00:07:31.280 So have to be a bit more sightwish way to go through the better opportunity
00:07:33.920 underneath the JavaScript.
00:07:35.920 So I need that Caleb Barrett.
00:07:37.400 We'll be right back.
00:07:38.160 So we'll have to get the next step out.
00:07:39.440 So there's a new new prize.
00:07:40.980 I certainly don't have to go before anybody.
00:07:42.660 He's something along the way.
00:07:45.240 So I can litres afirm the way in, after Oh God riding.
00:07:47.800 So I've learnt for CBC to the beginning and Iic,
00:07:49.800 I moved by the way under the back of the Christmas menu of Newson Studios.
