00:00:00.000 Well, yeah, I mean, my life has also changed because of the protests, yours as I think pretty much everybody, even for even for the protesters.
00:00:07.560 I mean, it was, you know, one of those events that just you never saw it.
00:00:11.820 You you didn't see it coming. But when it happened, it was incredible.
00:00:14.980 Just one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
00:00:18.060 But yeah, I mean, where do we begin?
00:00:19.800 Like, I remember meeting you at the Swiss Hotel and you were a little apprehensive about a mainstream media journalist being in the room.
00:00:26.500 No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I specifically asked.
00:00:32.500 Maybe you don't know this. I called Anthony Fury.
00:00:36.600 What's it called? Anthony Fury. Yeah.
00:00:39.140 Who is now with True North. That's right.
00:00:41.900 So I called him. Yeah. Me and Tom called him and said, listen, because I said, I want to at least try to get somebody affiliated with legacy media who is credible and honest.
00:00:53.140 So we called Anthony and we're going through a couple of his listing, a couple of names.
00:00:58.200 And then he said, you know, who would be good?
00:01:00.700 Rupa would be good. She's in Ottawa and she's an honest actor.
00:01:03.900 She's not going to, you know, promulgate a narrative if it's false.
00:01:08.060 Right. And I said, OK, and got your email address and I sent you an email.
00:01:12.620 So I actually wanted you. That's right.
00:01:15.420 Right. And at that point, I think you were writing for it was for the National Post.
00:01:18.860 Yeah. Yeah. I still am. I mean, I'm still a freelancer for them.
00:01:23.180 But yeah, no, actually, you're absolutely right.
00:01:25.840 I think I'm mixing you up with several of the other people who were at the Swiss Hotel and they were a little apprehensive, I think, about, you know, legacy media journalists being in the room.
00:01:36.980 But yes, I absolutely remember Anthony Fury emailing me and saying this is press conference.
00:01:42.220 Please go to it if you can. And I'm glad I did, because I thought that was a very important event in, you know, in helping set sort of this, you know, narrative, your own narrative.
00:01:55.460 Right. And already before the protesters that even, you know, they even came to the Capitol, you already had this establishment narrative from the mainstream media and others that these guys were a bunch of far right, you know, nut jobs, you know, going to pull a January 6th style insurrection and blah, blah, blah.
00:02:20.340 And whatever you think of the January 6th thing, whether it actually, you know, it was, you know, if it was a nothing burger or there was something to it, it doesn't matter.
00:02:31.680 The point is, you know, there was a lot of fear mongering at that at that point.
00:02:35.280 And I'm glad I spent that whole day walking through the protests and then I came to the press conference and I wanted to hear you guys, you know, and I wanted to ask you those questions.
00:02:46.560 And I remember asking you, you know, so what do you say to people who say that this is what you're up to?
00:02:51.620 And you were extremely honest.
00:02:54.820 Yeah, I mean, you know, the legacy media at that point, from my perspective, was largely trying to ignore it.
00:03:01.620 So there was only a couple of stories about it.
00:03:04.500 And yeah, of course, they were trying to smear and admonish us.
00:03:08.740 It is what it is.
00:03:10.580 But it really didn't seem to get a lot of traction.
00:03:13.140 It was still, it still didn't hit like the mainstream of legacy media.
00:03:17.800 It was still kind of flying under the radar.
00:03:19.680 You could tell they didn't know what to do at that point and how to deal with it.
00:03:23.520 And that's why, you know, we did that press conference, which was two hours and 20 minutes long.
00:03:27.980 And then after you left, we did an out, me and Tamara did an hour with Rebel News and hoping that would get, you know, the full story out in our context.
00:03:38.060 That never saw the light of day.
00:03:39.460 I still don't know to this day why.
00:03:41.360 Still haven't gotten an answer.
00:03:43.320 But yeah, I mean, listen, the legacy media, they can say whatever they want. 0.97
00:03:48.520 I can say, you know, Justin Trudeau kills puppy dogs.
00:03:52.380 That doesn't make it true. 0.84
00:03:53.720 But that's what they do.
00:03:54.640 And that's what they did to us.
00:03:56.500 And I knew over time that if we remained peaceful, we stayed in that aura of positivity and, you know, had this community feeling about us, which we really tried to work on.
00:04:09.720 That's what ended up, you know, getting the bouncy castles and the barbecues and the soup kitchens and all that sort of stuff.
