Juno News - The elites are laughing about inflation

People sneered at Erin O'Toole for taking a picture of a breakfast and showing how the items in that breakfast have been getting more and more expensive with inflation based on statistics. But now he's back, unapologetically, and he's doing it again with a graphic showing the cost of living is indeed going up.

00:00:00.000 something painfully elitist happened in canadian politics the other week when erin o'toole posted

00:00:10.560 a picture of a breakfast and showed how the items in that breakfast well they have been getting

00:00:16.540 more and more expensive with inflation based on statistics canada data a lot of people bizarrely

00:00:22.940 laughed at erin o'toole for doing that incredibly elitist of them but now he's back he's back

00:00:28.440 unapologetically and he's doing it again with a graphic showing a barbecue and showing how the

00:00:33.860 items in that barbecue when it comes to the meat you're putting on the grill or the cost of propane

00:00:39.180 they are going up even more than the items in that breakfast picture good on erin o'toole for coming

00:00:45.460 back and doing a second round of this because while folks out there who don't have to worry about paying

00:00:51.160 the bills they're not too concerned about uh stretching things because they're comfortable

00:00:55.740 they may sneer and laugh at these graphics well regular folks they're talking about this every

00:01:01.080 day they're doing comparison shopping they're looking around and saying man prices are going up

00:01:05.700 i gotta try and find a better deal because this is really hitting my wallet hard it's making

00:01:10.300 things difficult for me to feed my family why were people sneering at this in the first place

00:01:15.440 well this breakfast that erin o'toole put a picture of it was a pretty hearty breakfast it was the sort of

00:01:20.420 thing that really you'd only get served at a diner or if you're staying at a hotel it's what they would

00:01:24.780 serve to you for the breakfast in the morning but it's not the sort of breakfast that most people

00:01:28.680 eat every day if you did it's probably not too healthy to eat that breakfast every day it's going

00:01:33.480 to clog your arteries i mean all the bacon and fried eggs and stuff every morning but that wasn't the

00:01:38.540 point the point was that i think erin o'toole wanted to show a whole variety of breakfast items and

00:01:44.620 just to show how the cost of living is indeed going up now instead of just acknowledging that

00:01:50.420 acknowledging that's probably why he put the image out people looked for every opportunity they

00:01:54.520 could to undermine it to score points against the conservatives okay fine that's politics that's

00:01:59.460 what you do but boy did they come across looking incredibly out of touch like they were basically

00:02:05.540 sneering at the realities that regular canadians are facing every day there are some people who

00:02:11.900 have done actually really well the past couple years either because they have these these guaranteed

00:02:17.360 salaries that are guaranteed to rise somewhat equivalent to inflation they made made off like bandits

00:02:23.040 with the stock market i don't know but there's a lot of people who are also not in that situation

00:02:28.540 and they're not faring so well and it's a really bad look for those people who want to take an elitist

00:02:34.780 approach to laughing at those basic concerns so good on erin o'toole for saying you mocked me for doing

00:02:39.940 this once well guess what it matters it's important i'm doing it again

00:02:43.880 you

00:02:44.880 you

00:02:47.820 you

00:02:49.820 you

00:02:51.820 you

00:02:53.820 you
