00:00:00.000I know conservatives will never get a fair shake from the legacy media, especially when it comes
00:00:12.200to coverage regarding the United States. But is it just me or is the coverage getting more
00:00:17.360outrageous by the day? The legacy media, of course, we know that they try to hold the opposition to
00:00:23.600account more than they try to hold the government to account. But now it appears as though the
00:00:29.120legacy media who apparently have nothing to actually criticize the government over nothing
00:00:35.760to report on the government over are now operating as if pierre poliev and the conservatives are
00:00:43.200actually the ones in charge and making deals with the united states last week andrew coin publishes
00:00:50.640an op-ed in canada's paper of record the globe and mail arguing that conservatives they have a
00:00:56.880patriotism problem apparently. But the Toronto Star in-house comic, the comic creator Theo
00:01:03.840Moudakis, now I know it sounds petty and small, but it's not really because the Toronto Star is
00:01:10.500the largest newspaper in Canada. It has more circulation than the globe. The Toronto Star
00:01:16.500comic creator is creating these comics in which Pierre Polyev is the one making deals with the
00:01:23.860United States. It couldn't be more blatant. It couldn't be more obvious. Mark Carney is failing
00:01:30.920so badly at negotiating with the United States. He's doing such a terrible job at standing up
00:01:37.820for Canada, at being Captain Canada, that the legacy media have decided the only way to actually
00:01:46.080help the Prime Minister now is to continue to report unfavorably against the opposition leader.
00:01:51.840i hate to be hyperbolic and i hate to give in to some of the most insane and loony takes from the
00:01:59.760right sometimes but when they say that the way the mainstream media is operating feels more like out
00:02:07.280of the soviet union when you're holding the opposition to account and you're protecting the
00:02:12.680government protecting the ones in power protecting the ones that write your paychecks i have to agree
00:02:18.620with them on this instance. It's just insane. I'm going to get into the column. I'm going to show
00:02:24.240you these cartoons. I'm going to show you some social media reaction later on to illustrate to
00:02:30.400you just how insane this is. We have a prime minister cutting deals with China, continuing to
00:02:36.800cave, continuing to fold whenever he comes face to face with Donald Trump. Whenever there is an
00:02:43.460opportunity to stand up for Canadians. The Prime Minister is unable to rise to the occasion.
00:02:50.740We have that going on. Meanwhile, the mainstream media is ratcheting up the attacks on Pierre
00:02:55.680Polyev. It makes no sense. The Canadian government and big tech find new ways every day to shut down
00:03:01.800and silence conservative voices online. There's no longer this big moment when you get cancelled.
00:03:06.240It's done so quietly, behind your back, by tweaking algorithms. The only way we can make

00:03:32.000Juno News YouTube channel, and the common question for the episode is this. Do you read the mainstream
00:03:39.040media in Canada anymore? Do you pay for the mainstream media in Canada? Let me know your
00:03:45.340answer in the comments below. Let's get into it. So this was the first news item that really teed
00:03:50.900off a conversation on social media and pretty much convinced me that there's no hope left for
00:03:57.600the mainstream media in Canada. It was Andrew Coyne's column in the Globe and Mail, the paper
00:04:01.940of record, arguing that Canadian conservatives have a patriotism problem. Now his argument
00:04:07.300is that because there are social media influencers that support the conservative party that are
00:04:14.100maybe loosely involved with the conservative party that do in fact to be fair and honest
00:04:20.900some of these influencers they do in fact support the united states they do in fact
00:04:26.180cheer and celebrate u.s tariffs on canada which makes zero sense by the way they should be called
00:04:32.560out for it. But his argument is that because there are these social media influencers who
00:04:38.900seem to support the United States and cheer whenever tariffs are placed against Canadian
00:04:43.740workers, and also there's the Alberta separatist movement rising and the Alberta referendum
00:04:50.280coming up that is obviously driven by frustrated Alberta conservatives, that means that
00:04:59.140conservatives across Canada and the Conservative Party, they are unpatriotic. They have a patriotism
00:05:04.280problem. So the Globe and Mail, knowingly by the way, are publishing a column in which they're
00:05:11.120taking the radical fringe of the conservative movement, whether it's in Alberta or it's online
00:05:18.540with social media influencers, and saying that it's the conservatives, not the liberals, that
00:05:23.520have a patriotism problem. Isn't that strange? The government in charge of the country for the
00:05:29.500last 10 years will be in charge for 15 years. That government, that party, responsible for
00:05:37.720handing out free drugs to struggling Canadians so they can die on the street, as they can watch
00:05:45.520our downtown cores across the country shrink and disappear and evaporate. That's the patriotic0.99
00:05:53.000party the party responsible for mass immigration for permanently changing the demographics of
00:06:01.560canada in order to artificially chase gdp increases the party responsible for importing millions of
00:06:09.080people into this country and essentially ruining the prospects for young canadians that's the
00:06:14.840patriotic party the opposition to that they're the ones that have a patriotism problem really
00:06:23.000The party responsible for the erasure of John A. Macdonald, for the demonization of Canada, of Canadian culture, of Canadian history, that's the patriotic party.
00:06:34.600Are you starting to get it now? Just how backwards and insane this all is? It makes no sense.
00:06:40.680oh but it's the ones who have been defending canadian history defending canadian culture
00:06:47.160defending canadian identity the conservatives the right wing they are the ones that have the
00:06:53.480patriotism problem andrew coin in his column he says that in pretty much every other western
00:06:59.520democracy patriotism is the political domain of the right whereas in canada it is the political
00:07:06.760domain of the left. Maybe that might tell you that Canadian patriotism as it is defined by the left
00:07:15.580and by the mainstream media isn't patriotism at all. It's more about self-love. It's more about
00:07:20.600tweaking and changing the country, rewriting history, apologizing for it, manufacturing the
00:07:27.840country in order to make its presence worthy of praise, worthy of being patriotic.
00:07:36.760Canadian Conservatives, meanwhile, were patriotic because we love the country as it is.
00:07:43.060We love the country that it was, and we love the country as it is.
00:07:46.600We don't try to apologize for the past.
00:07:48.960We don't try to remake the image of Canada.
00:07:52.060It wasn't Conservatives that erased the red ensign and raised the corporate, meaningless, symbolic maple leaf.
00:07:59.380It wasn't Conservatives that turned Canada into the world's first official multicultural country.
00:08:06.760why because canadian culture wasn't good enough as it is it wasn't a conservative prime minister
00:08:12.120who entered office telling a foreign newspaper that canada was going to be the world's first
00:08:17.560post-national state the party that promotes post-nationalism anti-nationalism anti-patriotism
00:08:27.400is considered the patriotic party up until the 1960s the liberals were the party that
00:08:35.000was always trying to promote free trade with the united states trying to promote closer integration
00:08:41.080since the beginning of canadian confederation since john a mcdonald it has been the conservatives
00:08:47.000the conservative right in canada until about the 1980s who were skeptical of the united states
00:08:54.600project who built canada in order to resist continental pressures from the united states
00:09:01.640everything about canada was designed as a way to counter the pressure of the united states
00:09:08.200to preserve a conservative vision a country built on anti-revolution a country that earned
00:09:15.240its independence not by the point of a bayonet not via rebellion and revolution we are a
00:09:22.200conservative country the idea of canada is a conservative project peace order and good
00:09:27.320government. And up until Brian Mulroney came along, it was always conservatives who understood
00:09:32.940that the United States should be viewed with at least a hefty amount of skepticism. Of course,
00:09:39.860the Globe and Mail article makes no attempt to add historical context at all. Is there a perception
00:09:46.880problem right now among the Canadian electorate? Of course there is. There is a perception problem
00:09:52.200that Canadian conservatives are seen as being too pro-Trump.
00:09:56.720But that doesn't mean that it's actually true
00:09:58.980just because the electorate has a perception of something
00:10:02.100obviously driven in large part because of the mainstream media
00:10:06.400and the political framing from the left
