00:00:00.000 We are the pro-life generation, and it's just going to make us work harder to see this happen in Canada as well.
00:00:06.640 You know, there's no stopping it. It's just another signal of hope. There is always hope.
00:00:12.080 Ilie Quentin Nathel here for True North in Ottawa, where the 2022 March for Life is taking place on Parliament Hill.
00:00:20.180 Abortion has been back in the news, with political reporting on a leaked draft of a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court on Roe v. Wade.
00:00:28.280 Given that American politics tends to influence Canadian politics, I wanted to ask people here today what impacts they think the overturning of Roe v. Wade would have on the Canadian pro-life movement.
00:00:41.660 What impacts do you think this could have on the Canadian pro-life movement?
00:00:45.820 Well, I think it's having an impact already, although the official ruling hasn't come out yet.
00:00:51.020 The point being that it's caused our government, our media, our mainstream media to finally start to have a conversation around this.
00:00:59.480 And I'm really pleased because they're having to grapple with the truth about the Morgenthaler decision
00:01:04.900 and the fact that legislators are expected from that ruling to do some work in protecting the unborn.
00:01:13.740 I'm not sure what impact it would have, but I think it will motivate people that have this in their heart
00:01:20.220 to be a little more positive and give them some energy and some enthusiasm to say what they believe.
00:01:29.780 The biggest impact I've seen so far is just encouraging pro-life activists to, you know, do more, to have the hope that things can change.
00:01:39.360 You know, we are the pro-life generation and it's just going to make us work harder to see this happen in Canada as well.
00:01:46.240 You know, there's no stopping it. It's just another signal of hope. There is always hope.
00:01:50.900 That has stirred up opposition here in Canada to our cause, to the protection of the pre-born. 0.95
00:01:56.920 But, you know, we just need good people everywhere to continue to stand for life.
00:02:01.660 It's our duty. We who have been already born, it's our duty to defend those who have not yet been born.
00:02:08.820 And, of course, the elderly too at all stages of life.
00:02:11.720 I think it can go both ways. I think a lot of Canadians are feeling stronger because they feel that there's still hope.
00:02:18.320 And that's the positive side. The negative side, they're seeing the negative backlash from what's happening on the pro-abortion side.
00:02:27.000 And some people might be a little scared.
00:02:29.220 But I think overall, the pro-lifers that have been doing this for a while, we know that this is a battle that we have to engage in
00:02:36.700 because we're doing it for the unborn children.
00:02:39.300 And also to just speak out about how valuable life is right up to the death.
00:02:46.780 You know, every life matters to us. So that's what our message is.
00:02:51.520 It's only a good thing because at least they're talking about it.
00:02:55.860 They're not ignoring it anymore. It's in the news and now we can talk about it.
00:03:01.080 It exists as a topic and it's important. So it's good, whatever happens.
00:03:06.140 It has really pumped us up. And as I said on my short speech there today, that a lot of people, the other side's really nervous about it.
00:03:15.940 They think their world is ending.
00:03:19.380 And I'd like to think that this is going to just, we're going to be able to ride this momentum
00:03:23.900 and really see some positive change in Canada.
00:03:26.820 And this concludes our report on the 2022 March for Life and the impacts people think the overturning of Roe-Wade
00:03:35.300 would have on the pro-life movement in Canada.
00:03:38.480 For True North, I'm Elie Quintenantel.
00:03:40.740 Thank you.
00:03:52.440 We'll see you in the next section.
00:03:54.920 Thank you.
