00:00:00.000 Quite honestly, it's tough to think of a more entitled and out of touch group of Canadians
00:00:11.140 right now than the over 150,000 striking federal bureaucrats who are holding Canadians hostage
00:00:17.880 and demanding that the federal government coughs up an extra $9 billion of our money
00:00:22.520 to satisfy their outrageous demand. When I say outrageous demands, I mean patently absurd.
00:00:27.800 Let's just cut right to it. The greedy public sector union bosses are conducting a shakedown on Canadians
00:00:33.820 at an extremely vulnerable time. At a time when far too many Canadians are having to resort to
00:00:38.840 going to food banks just to put food on the table for their families, and when single parents have
00:00:43.380 to take on extra jobs just to keep the lights on, these union bosses think now is the perfect time
00:00:48.780 to demand a 47% increase in compensation and permanent work from home. Don't these workers
00:00:54.540 know who they really work for? Last I checked, they worked for all of us. Drop a like in the video,
00:00:59.820 help us out by subscribing to the True North YouTube channel, stick around for the ratio of
00:01:03.160 the weak prize, and the common question for the episode is this. Do you feel any sympathy
00:01:08.100 for the striking federal bureaucrats? Let me know, and let's get into it.
00:01:12.100 Well, if you only listen to legacy media soundbites, or if you only listen to Jagmeet Singh, or even
00:01:16.580 the greedy union bosses who are conducting this shakedown, you might think that these federal
00:01:21.040 bureaucrats are demanding a fair wage increase, a fair deal. As the rich get richer, these
00:01:26.000 unrecognized, nameless, faceless, pen-pushing bureaucrats just deserve more of our money.
00:01:31.380 Well, we're going to go through the full list of demands made by these public sector union bosses
00:01:35.860 to the federal government, and as we go through this list, I encourage you to ask yourself how your
00:01:40.620 employer might react to you if you request just one of these demands that the public sector union
00:01:45.860 bosses are now demanding of the federal government. Take a look at this. Public sector workers are
00:01:50.680 demanding a 47% increase in compensation over the next three years. All overtime work is to be paid
00:01:58.380 at double time, not time and a half. A $17,000 education fund for laid-off staff, which is
00:02:05.280 outrageous when you realize that fewer than 1% of public sector workers ever get fired. You basically
00:02:10.380 can't get fired in the public sector once you're in, you're never out. But if you happen to be the
00:02:13.820 less than 1% that does get fired, well, here's $17,000 of taxpayer money to go get an education.
00:02:19.920 Shift premiums for all hours worked past 4pm. Oh my god, working past 4pm, the horror! So those are
00:02:27.440 the compensation demands from the public sector. But this is where the fun begins in the list of
00:02:31.960 demands. Mandatory diversity, equity, and inclusion training for all employees and managers, and taxpayer
00:02:39.120 funded contributions to the public sector union social justice fund. Now what is this social justice
00:02:47.180 fund that these union bosses are demanding our money go to? The union defines the social
00:02:52.420 justice fund this way. The labor movement has an important role in fighting the social and economic
00:02:57.860 inequities that impact the lives of workers and people in Canada and around the world. The social
00:03:03.680 justice fund is one of PSAC's contributions to that struggle. The promotion of the right to decent work,
00:03:10.060 quality public services, human rights, and equity are cornerstones of the PSAC social justice fund.
00:03:16.800 There's that equity word again. We all know what that means and it certainly isn't equality. In fact,
00:03:21.640 it's the opposite. Through education, mobilization, and empowerment, PSAC's social justice fund works to
00:03:28.900 advance the role of our members in building more equitable and sustainable communities in Canada
00:03:33.260 and around the world. Now if any of you are looking for an example of what the PSAC social justice fund
00:03:38.780 is really all about, look no further than the anti-freedom convoy protest last year in Ottawa,
00:03:43.980 where there were communist flags and also these really lovely signs about the unvaccinated.
00:03:49.200 Good stuff guys. I'm sure Canadians who are struggling to put food on the table are really
00:03:52.960 proud about having to fund your protests where you wave communist flags and help advance the
00:03:57.300 government's message. Another demand by the public sector union is to guarantee permanent work from
00:04:03.120 home. They never want to go back into the office ever again. They want to be able to sit in their
00:04:07.340 pajamas, do nothing, face no managerial supervision, and get more money for less work. Now listen to
00:04:13.680 some of these striking public bureaucrats explain their decision. Don't you feel sympathy for these
00:04:18.400 workers? We proved ourselves that we can work efficiently and more productively from home and
00:04:23.680 the fact that they're mandating us going back to work two days a week just doesn't make sense.
00:04:28.580 I believe that we made the transition during the pandemic to work from home. I still believe that
00:04:38.320 the pandemic is not over. Going to work is risking getting sick. I feel like working at home you are
00:04:45.440 still completing your day-to-day tasks. So I think as public servants we should have the option to choose.
00:04:51.600 We basically for more than two years have been suffering the stalling tactics from the treasury board
00:04:56.680 and our employers not showing the respect not only workers of the public service deserve but here's
00:05:03.060 the thing right we want to stand to raise the bar for every workers across the country. So this is not a
00:05:10.000 fight for the public servants only. This is a fight for respect and recognition of all workers across the
00:05:17.200 country. Oh that's right. They're gonna get sick if they go back to work. Of course they are. The government
00:05:22.120 wants them to work twice a week in the office. Twice a week? That's not fair. How are they gonna
00:05:26.960 get to catch their daytime reruns of The View if they have to be in the office twice a week? It's just
00:05:32.060 not fair. Solidarity! Take that in though. The federal government is only expecting their federal
00:05:37.080 bureaucrats to go to the office twice a week. Twice a week? Can you imagine the horror? Actually I know you
00:05:43.020 can because you go to work every single day just like the rest of us. But for these people the prospect
00:05:47.420 is awful. They're obviously gonna get sick. And look who joined in on the protest. If it isn't the
00:05:51.860 wannabe working class leader, the fakest labor rights activist Canada has probably ever seen,
00:05:57.580 Jagmeet Singh. You see Jagmeet Singh he desperately wants to be seen as a man of the people. A Jack
00:06:03.500 Layton type man of the people. That's why he shows up to the picket line wearing a $2,000 Canada goose
00:06:08.760 jacket and a Rolex watch. By the way it was seven degrees yesterday not minus 31. Anyway don't let the facts
00:06:15.400 get in the way of a good photo op he did what he had to do to pretend like he cares about the people.
00:06:19.400 Because let's be honest if Jagmeet Singh cared more about the people than he does his pension
00:06:23.480 he would have the courage to tell these union bosses that demanding an extra $9 billion of our money
00:06:29.020 just to go into the pockets of their workers was an outrage. But we know he couldn't care less.
00:06:34.100 But are these federal workers really struggling these days? What are the facts? The facts tell us that
00:06:39.460 actually public sector bureaucrats are way better off than the average private sector worker in Canada.
00:06:45.400 But you already knew that. Public sector workers make 8.5% more than their private sector
00:06:50.480 counterparts when you factor in sex, age, marital status, education, tenure, size of firm, job
00:06:57.180 permanence, immigrant status, industry, occupation, province, and city. Basically every single factor
00:07:03.200 you could put into this they have and they've still found that public sector workers make 8.5% more.
00:07:09.100 Of those covered by a registered pension plan 90.6% of government workers enjoyed a defined benefit
00:07:16.080 pension plan compared to just 40% of private sector workers. In addition government workers retire
00:07:22.400 earlier than those in the private sector approximately 2.4 years earlier on average and were much less
00:07:28.220 likely to lose their jobs. 1% in the public sector compared to 4.8% of the private sector. The average
00:07:34.100 compensation for a full-time government employee is over $120,000 not including all of the benefits
00:07:41.320 that come along with that. In comparison in September of 2022 the average salary for a private sector
00:07:46.840 worker was $59,000 and between 93 to 98% of federal workers received a raise during the pandemic. These
00:07:55.180 public sector union bosses know exactly what's going on. They know that the government has no choice but to
00:07:59.780 acquiesce to their demands. At a time when Canadians can no longer afford to live in the cities that they
00:08:05.040 themselves grew up in and helped build, public sector union bosses are demanding a 47% wage increase.
00:08:11.600 At a time when a record number of Canadians are having to resort to food banks just to keep themselves
00:08:16.080 and their families fed, public sector union bosses are demanding permanent work from home.
00:08:21.480 And at a time when Canadians can no longer receive basic government services like a passport renewal
00:08:26.640 to escape this nightmare of a country we now live in, public sector union bosses are demanding that
00:08:32.000 we give them more money to fund their social justice protests. This is without a doubt a disgrace.
00:08:38.780 The Ratio of the Week prize goes to the NDP for proudly parading their caucus members as they joined
00:08:43.760 in on this outrageous PSAC strike on Wednesday. This morning our NDP caucus joined PSAC workers on the
00:08:50.880 picket line in Ottawa. Over 155,000 workers are fighting for respect, fair wages, and safe working
00:08:57.480 conditions. Oh yeah, I'm sure this fight is really going to give them a lot of respect amongst Canadians.
00:09:02.180 New Democrats stand in solidarity with these workers and demand the government give them the deal they
00:09:06.880 deserve. 251 replies to 173 likes. It's a slim ratio but it counts. The NDP is just using this as a photo op.
00:09:15.780 If the NDP cared about Canadians, you would have forced Jagmeet to end his coalition with Trudeau.
00:09:21.360 None will though because once we go to the polls, the NDP won't exist because of Singh.
00:09:25.880 And safe working conditions. Why? Isn't their home safe? So they have to show up to the strike to
00:09:31.900 get paid, but they don't have to show up to work to get paid. Am I missing something here? No, as a
00:09:36.840 matter of fact, you're right over the target, not missing anything at all. That is exactly what's going on
00:09:40.760 here. As these workers demand to stay home, they have enough time to show up to the picket line
00:09:45.060 to demand to stay home. Does that make any sense to anyone? Obviously not. What a joke. What a
00:09:50.080 disgrace. And how embarrassing for the NDP. Alright everyone, that's going to do it for us
00:09:54.020 this week on the show. Thank you so much for tuning in. My name is Harrison Faulkner and this is Ray Sheep.
