00:00:00.000 Welcome, everyone, to Ratioed. My name is Harrison Faulkner. Well, on Tuesday night,
00:00:12.760 something different happened to Justin Trudeau. You have to check it out. In NDP Heartland,
00:00:17.720 the Steel City, Hamilton, Ontario, Justin Trudeau was mobbed by admirers, mobbed by supporters.
00:00:23.440 I mean, it's shades of Beatlemania touching down the United States. His fans are fainting left,
00:00:27.620 right, and center, just at the very sight of the man. You got to check this clip out right here.
00:00:31.300 True support in Hamilton. Watch this.
00:00:44.920 Truly incredible. I've never seen a prime minister be so loved by his own people. We've got some
00:00:49.320 exclusive footage for you coming up on this show for the first time ever, I think, on Ratioed,
00:00:53.700 because legacy media journalists failed to do their job on Tuesday night. They were a
00:00:57.540 sleep at the wheel. But luckily for all of us, and unfortunately for Justin Trudeau,
00:01:01.660 I was on the scene to capture what was really going on. Stick around for the Ratio of the 1.00
00:01:05.700 Week award. You won't want to miss it. Drop a like. Help us out with subscribing to the
00:01:08.740 TrueNorth YouTube channel. And the common question for the episode is this. If you could walk with
00:01:13.060 Justin Trudeau for three minutes, just you, Dominic LeBlanc, the RCMP, and Justin Trudeau,
00:01:19.120 what would you say to the man? Let me know in the comments, and let's get into it.
00:01:21.880 Well, I hate to say it, but I think someone on Justin Trudeau's planning and travel team may be
00:01:25.960 losing their job next week for making the decision to host the three-day Liberal cabinet retreat
00:01:31.000 in Hamilton, Ontario. You know, there's a lot of space in this country. There's a lot of places
00:01:34.820 where you can go in Canada to avoid the cameras, to avoid all your fans, all your supporters, just
00:01:39.540 to get a break from all the crazy attention you get. Hamilton, Ontario, however, is not really one
00:01:44.600 of those places, is it? Because right from the very beginning, right from the moment Justin Trudeau
00:01:48.760 touched down in the Steel City, the traveling Trudeau welcoming party was there to greet him
00:01:53.780 with a nice, good old, hearty Canadian hello.
00:01:56.720 We are going to hold you accountable. You will be held accountable for what you have done.
00:02:07.140 So it turns out, actually, that all throughout that first night that Liberal cabinet ministers
00:02:12.280 touched down in the Steel City, Canadians were there to lay on their horns, blast fireworks,
00:02:18.040 and really give the Liberal cabinet a trip down memory lane as to what took place exactly one year ago
00:02:23.000 this week. And of course, how can we not mention it on this show? It's the one year anniversary
00:02:27.540 of the Bouncy Castle Rebellion, the hot tub insurrection. And if you're a Liberal cabinet
00:02:31.960 minister, you're probably hoping that, you know, 12 months on from that very embarrassing moment,
00:02:36.600 Canadians have started to cool off a little bit. Well, I can tell you, as a matter of fact,
00:02:39.980 because I was on the ground in Hamilton, that anger has not gone away. In fact, it might even be
00:02:43.600 worse. Because when you invoke wartime-like measures on a peaceful protest, when you call in the horses
00:02:48.360 on elderly women trying to voice their frustration with the government, well, time 0.96
00:02:52.900 only makes those wounds worse. And let me just tell you, if Monday was a rough welcoming for
00:02:58.900 Justin Trudeau, Tuesday, well, Tuesday was a special day. Now, for whatever reason, someone
00:03:03.680 on Justin Trudeau's team thought it would be a good idea to stash the entire federal cabinet
00:03:08.640 into a downtown Hamilton restaurant and nobody would notice. Well, as you could have guessed,
00:03:14.260 people did find out. And this is exactly what it looked like because I was on the ground there
00:03:17.600 to capture the scenes. Very frustrated and very angry Canadians swarmed both the front entrance
00:03:23.600 and the rear exit of the bread bar in Hamilton. Now, for whatever reason, guys, and I just can't
00:03:28.660 figure it out for the life of me, the legacy media were nowhere to be found around the restaurant.
00:03:34.080 In fact, they may have been in the restaurant dining with the cabinet because they sure as heck
00:03:38.660 weren't out on the ground talking to the protesters, capturing the scene, and giving Canadians the real
00:03:44.060 news. It's funny, though, because we know the legacy media is there. In fact, the legacy media
00:03:49.140 journalists were taking photos from inside the hotel that the liberal cabinet were staying in. So
00:03:54.000 legacy media journalists get their press pass, they get access to the prime minister, to the cabinet,
00:03:58.640 they get to stay in the same hotels, they probably eat at the same dinner table. But actually talking
00:04:02.400 to Canadians on the ground, well, that's not a job for legacy media journalists to dirty their hands
00:04:07.420 with the people. They would never want to talk to real Canadians. They just want to keep talking to 1.00
00:04:11.800 the liberal cabinet ministers. Part of me feels embarrassed for legacy media journalists, but
00:04:15.400 then the other part of me thinks, well, if you're not going to do the job, well, we will at True
00:04:19.340 North. Independent journalists will actually do the job. And, well, we were on the ground to capture
00:04:24.420 the money shot. Justin Trudeau leaving the restaurant, getting absolutely mobbed by protesters,
00:04:31.560 face-to-face yelling obscenities, swearing at him, calling him a tyrant, calling him a traitor,
00:04:36.520 yelling at him to resign. This clip truly is, I think, emblematic of where this country
00:04:41.640 is at right now with this government.
00:05:11.640 Incredible. That clip, as of right now, has almost two and a half million views on Twitter.
00:05:27.700 It is truly going viral. The world is watching this, and they must be scratching their head
00:05:31.740 thinking, how can a prime minister lead his people when the people treat him like that?
00:05:37.400 And when you watch that clip, it's really no surprise as to why the legacy media weren't
00:05:41.160 there. It's not in their interest to show that kind of coverage. What they want to show is the
00:05:46.600 nice, well-set-up, well-lit press conference backdrop with Justin Trudeau's clapping cabinet
00:05:51.960 ministers behind him, just basically nodding away as Christopher Freeland does, clapping away like
00:05:57.820 seals as the rest of his cabinet does to whatever he says. Well, this is how Canadians actually feel
00:06:03.620 about the man. And I think legacy media journalists got a little embarrassed that they got showed up by
00:06:07.540 little old True North doing the job for them. Take a look at some of the reactions to this clip.
00:06:12.340 Gerald Butts, Justin Trudeau's former principal secretary, got in on the action.
00:06:16.240 These folks are not the first people in history to take selfish advantage of the freedoms granted
00:06:20.280 them by their democratic country to put on a show for the cameras. They won't be the last.
00:06:24.640 This reaction makes me laugh from Gerald Butts. Hey, Jerry, take a look at the video once again.
00:06:29.760 You see many cameras there? The legacy media, the ones you guys paid off, weren't there because
00:06:34.980 it's not in their interest to cover it. If it weren't for me, if it weren't for one or two other
00:06:38.540 independent journalists, that footage would never have been seen. So nice try with your little attack
00:06:42.660 there, Jerry. I'm hoping Justin maybe gave you a pat on the back for that one. Brian Platt, a no-name
00:06:47.420 legacy media journalist from Bloomberg who has a media accreditation, by the way, who has access to the
00:06:52.960 prime minister, to the cabinet, who gets access to the fancy press conferences. Well, he must have been a
00:06:57.500 little embarrassed that he got showed up by True North because he came out on this clip too. Take
00:07:01.160 a look at this. There actually weren't that many protesters last night. As you can turn to the end
00:07:05.280 when the cameraman pans back to the street, I saw maybe 30 or 40 at most, but they were very loud
00:07:10.620 and aggressive. Yeah, they might have been quite loud from your Sheraton hotel room, bud, but if you
00:07:14.760 were down on the ground, you would have seen there were more than 30 or 40. Not like that's the kind of
00:07:18.800 job you're looking to do. Gary Mason from the Globe and Mail, who got quite the ratio, who may in fact be
00:07:23.860 taking home the ratio of the week award if you stick around to find out. He also got in on the
00:07:28.000 action. Take a look at this. Please tell me Pierre Poliev has denounced these scenes of extremist
00:07:32.200 behavior. Horribly scary. Hey, Gary, have you ever asked why Canadians feel this way about our
00:07:37.460 prime minister? Is this normal behavior to you or is this a special case when it comes to one prime
00:07:42.780 minister in particular? A question that a good journalist might consider asking. Now, just to rub salt in the
00:07:47.060 wound for the legacy media journalists who were asleep at the wheel on Tuesday night, I actually managed to
00:07:51.860 walk with the prime minister for three and a half minutes underneath Jackson Square Mall. I wasn't
00:07:57.220 expecting to see the prime minister and I wasn't expecting to be able to walk with him for that
00:08:01.080 long, so I didn't really know what to ask, but I was really there just to capture the moment and to try
00:08:06.060 and give him some questions that, well, let's just be honest, he's not used to fielding. Because if there's
00:08:10.680 one thing I can take away from all of this, it's that the last thing Justin Trudeau and his cabinet are
00:08:15.360 expecting is to face independent journalists asking them tough questions. They get to curate their
00:08:22.000 questions with bought and paid for legacy media journalists and yet never have to field questions
00:08:27.320 from independent media, except for on Tuesday night. Check it out.
00:08:31.400 Mr. Prime Minister, will you go outside to speak to Canadians?
00:08:37.880 Mr. Prime Minister, will you resign if the Emergencies Act Commissioner finds her invocation of the
00:08:52.140 Emergencies Act unjustified, Prime Minister? A lot of Canadians are angry right now. Do you have any
00:08:57.340 message to them? How do we lower the temperature in Canada, Mr. Prime Minister? One year on from the
00:09:06.700 Freedom Convoy, do you regret not meeting with any of the protesters? A lot of protesters outside, would
00:09:13.380 you have any in talking to them? Now, the video of Trudeau getting mobbed by protesters and swarmed by
00:09:19.820 supporters just couldn't be ignored from even the legacy media journalists, even the most loyal legacy
00:09:25.700 media journalists. Even they, the next day, asked Justin Trudeau about what happened on Tuesday night.
00:09:31.380 And honestly, it takes some chutzpah to be able to say, well actually the welcome I've received in
00:09:36.900 Hamilton has been truly extraordinary. Could you imagine saying something like that after getting
00:09:42.340 so brutally heckled just the night before? This level of defiance is almost worthy of admiration.
00:09:47.780 Incredible. Watch this.
00:09:49.860 Prime Minister, there is video that has emerged of you last night leaving a restaurant here in
00:09:53.540 Hamilton, a crowd of protesters surrounding you. Obviously, very angry at you and your government.
00:09:58.340 I wonder whether you felt that was a secure situation for you, and why?
00:10:02.340 Prime Minister, Prime Minister Prime Minister.
00:10:03.680 First of all, let me let me say that the welcome that I've gotten here in Hamilton has been extraordinary.
00:10:10.720 The people I've met, the students here, the folks and teams that I met in various places
00:10:17.800 during our couple of days here have been thoughtful and open and warm.
00:10:23.360 And a handful of angry people do not define what Hamilton is or what democracy in this country is.
00:10:31.660 We're going to continue to be out there.
00:10:33.440 And we're not going to let a handful of angry people interfere with the democratic processes
00:10:41.020 that Canadians have always taken pride in and being able to come up and meet members of parliament,
00:10:47.680 ministers or even the prime minister and share their preoccupations.
00:10:51.720 That's one of the strengths of this country.
00:10:53.640 I love this part, too.
00:10:54.680 He says a small group of angry protesters can't interfere with democracy.
00:10:59.640 Buddy, that's not interfering with democracy.
00:11:01.560 That is democracy.
00:11:02.560 Protesting your government is democracy.
00:11:05.620 We have the right to say, you know what?
00:11:07.440 We're upset with you and we're going to let you hear it.
00:11:09.300 The comments on the Trudeau press conference video are quite good.
00:11:12.060 I want to read some of them before we move on.
00:11:13.680 That's the face of a man who knows he's despised.
00:11:15.960 He doesn't look like his usual smug self.
00:11:18.820 This person writes, 0.95
00:11:19.720 See, the clown brought his clapping seals. 0.91
00:11:22.040 Oh, yes, his loyal cabinet ministers. 0.95
00:11:24.220 I don't think he realizes just how big that handful is.
00:11:27.960 It's more than a handful when it happens every time he steps outside.
00:11:31.380 How could you say it's a handful when no matter where he goes, no matter where the man goes across the country, heck, even outside of the country in London, England, he's getting brutally heckled.
00:11:42.320 Ratio of the week time.
00:11:43.340 The winner this week is Gary Mason from The Globe for that tweet we showed you earlier on in the show.
00:11:48.260 When he wrote,
00:11:49.620 At the time of this recording, Gary Mason got brutally ratioed over 1,600 replies, 1,641 replies to 794 likes.
00:12:05.380 By the time this video comes out, I bet you that will be even worse.
00:12:08.720 And you have to ask yourself, horribly scary scenes, Gary?
00:12:12.100 Horribly scary?
00:12:12.860 Gary, the Prime Minister brought it on himself.
00:12:15.520 He knew exactly what he was doing.
00:12:16.940 He didn't have to cross the street.
00:12:18.380 In fact, he didn't even have to go to the bread bar restaurant.
00:12:20.860 But yet he did.
00:12:21.800 The RCMP didn't clear away protesters.
00:12:24.360 They just basically let him walk right through the crowd.
00:12:27.500 What did they expect was going to happen?
00:12:29.720 Surely they knew they were going to get this reaction.
00:12:32.440 Maybe Gary, just like his other legacy media counterparts,
00:12:35.560 is a little embarrassed that Globe and Mail journalists weren't there doing their jobs on the scene to capture the video.
00:12:40.660 Viva Frye, of course, got in on this guy's tweet.
00:12:43.640 Is this a parody account?
00:12:45.000 Cat Canada wrote,
00:12:46.460 Hey, fainting daisy, no arrests made because loud mean words while walking on a public street isn't a crime. 1.00
00:12:52.540 This guy gets in on the action too.
00:12:54.300 Globe and Mail columnist.
00:12:55.660 It's extremist to exercise a charter right to protest a sitting Prime Minister in a public place during a meeting of politicians.
00:13:02.560 Uncouth language is objectionable, but it's nothing more,
00:13:05.520 despite the offense taken by privileged media personalities.
00:13:08.620 And this guy also got in on the action.
00:13:10.880 Denounce them for what?
00:13:12.320 It's not his mess.
00:13:13.680 The Prime Minister divided this country for his political gain.
00:13:16.820 This is all Trudeau's doing.
00:13:18.320 Ripping a country apart has consequences.
00:13:21.060 Alright, that's going to do it for us this week on the show.
00:13:23.080 Thank you so much for tuning in.
00:13:24.200 My name is Harrison Faulkner, and this is Ratio.
00:13:26.780 We'll be right back.
