00:00:00.000 Welcome everyone to Ratioed. My name is Harrison Faulkner. Well I think it's pretty safe to say
00:00:12.280 that things are not going so well for Justin Trudeau these days and when I say not going so
00:00:16.480 well what I really mean is that things are going horribly wrong for the Prime Minister. With poll
00:00:20.640 numbers plummeting and moving in the wrong direction with the Canadian economy in the gutter
00:00:24.640 now over 80% of Canadians now think we're in a recession and despite the best efforts from
00:00:29.560 Canada's liberal legacy media journalists Justin Trudeau's stenographers to try and paint his
00:00:34.100 opposition the Conservative Party and Pierre Polyev as dangerous far-right populists well none of it
00:00:39.520 is working. Just take a look at the latest five minute tirade he delivered on Tuesday. Guys I'm
00:00:43.980 really starting to think it's getting to him. The question with all of this is is this the beginning
00:00:47.920 of the end for Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister of Canada or is the drama teacher pulling one more
00:00:52.640 act on us? Now drop a like in the video help us out by subscribing to the True North YouTube channel
00:00:56.460 and the comment question for the episode is this. Do you believe in mainstream media polling anymore?
00:01:02.380 Let me know in the comments stick around for the Ratio of the Week award and let's get into it.
00:01:06.160 Alright so you guys have to see this clip if you haven't already. This happened on Tuesday afternoon
00:01:10.260 when Justin Trudeau was touring a Windsor car plant. A journalist asked him what the status of
00:01:16.140 the Freedom Convoy movement was a year after the Freedom Convoy protest and Justin Trudeau launches
00:01:22.580 into an unhinged five minute rant against Pierre Polyev, Freedom Convoy supporters, basically anyone
00:01:28.420 who has opposed him over the past three years. And now it's five minutes so to spare you we've clipped
00:01:33.780 just the very best parts. Watch this. Do you feel the movement has grown? Do you feel it's abated?
00:01:38.820 What's your read on what's happened over the past 12 months? I don't know I think that's a better
00:01:42.820 question to ask Mr. Polyev. He seems a lot closer to the convoy. My approach is very much on making
00:01:49.540 sure that we're delivering good jobs and good opportunities for Canadians. We know that people
00:01:55.140 are worried and even frustrated about how the world is unfolding around them. And as a politician you have
00:02:01.220 two choices. You can either try and amplify those fears, make people even matter, reflect that anger,
00:02:07.860 that uncertainty that people are legitimately feeling because the world is changing in unpredictable
00:02:12.820 ways, reflect that back at them without offering real solutions. Or you can choose to buckle down
00:02:19.460 and deliver on the kinds of things that are going to make people feel confident in their own future,
00:02:25.860 in their kids' future, in their community's future, in their jobs. Listen, there are always going to be
00:02:31.380 politicians out there who try to exploit legitimate anger and concerns that people have. But that's
00:02:40.020 not the way to get something built. Crossing your arms and saying Canada is broken. It's not the way to
00:02:47.860 build a better future for Canadians. Recognizing, yeah, we're facing tough times right now. So yeah,
00:02:55.060 it can pay off to drum up anger and encourage people to wave flags.
00:03:01.620 Oh man, there's a ton to unpack in that clip, right? Let's start at the very top. Justin Trudeau
00:03:05.620 says that politicians shouldn't be using fear to advance their political message. Come on,
00:03:09.940 that's the pot calling the kettle blackface there. Justin Trudeau and the Liberals' entire
00:03:13.860 2021 federal election strategy was built on divisiveness. It was designed to pit the vaccinated
00:03:19.060 against the unvaccinated, telling Canadians where and how they could travel in their own country,
00:03:23.700 telling unvaccinated Canadians that they couldn't sit beside a vaccinated person
00:03:27.780 and put them at risk. Oh, that's definitely not fear though. It's only fear when your opposition
00:03:32.020 does it. Clever. Oh, and then he says opposition leaders can't cross their arms and say Canada is
00:03:36.900 broken. They have to actually solve the problems. Well, I'm not sure Justin Trudeau gets this, but
00:03:41.620 what does he exactly think the opposition leader is going to do? Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh
00:03:45.540 sitting up there at the helm? It's not like Pierre Polyev can just go out there and start writing
00:03:48.900 legislation. It's you guys who have caused the problem here. I think what he's really saying is he
00:03:53.380 doesn't want the opposition leader to better articulate the problems that Canadians are
00:03:57.060 facing right now. And then the journalist asks another reasonable question, which is,
00:04:00.420 do you regret calling freedom convoy supporters unacceptable view holding tinfoil hat wearing
00:04:04.900 conspiracy theorists? And of course, Justin Trudeau doesn't regret that at all. Why would he? And then
00:04:09.540 he says that as prime minister, he has to make tough decisions. He has to make the really tough calls,
00:04:14.820 but his decisions resulted in people being able to keep their jobs and keep their livelihoods. Yeah,
00:04:19.220 of course, except for, you know, the tens of thousands of Canadians who didn't keep their jobs
00:04:23.220 because of mandates, the tens of thousands of Canadians who lost their ability to keep their
00:04:26.980 livelihood. Other than those people, of course, everything was just fine. Do you regret those
00:04:30.980 words now? My responsibility as a prime minister is stand up for people's safety, people's well-being
00:04:39.060 in this country. That's what I did during the pandemic. I took some tough decisions to make sure
00:04:46.100 that people were able to stay safe. They were able to hang on to their jobs. They were able to make
00:04:53.780 sure we're not overwhelming our healthcare systems and protecting those frontline heroes by getting
00:05:00.260 vaccinated. And at the same time as 80% of Canadians were stepping up to do the right thing, not just for
00:05:09.780 themselves, but for their neighbors. There were people out there trying to scare people into
00:05:17.780 putting their own lives at risk and their communities at risk. You can see it in that clip,
00:05:23.060 right? Completely different tone, completely different attitude at the mic. Trudeau must have
00:05:26.900 seen this polling data from Nanos Research. Now, Nanos Research, keep in mind, is by no means a
00:05:31.540 conservative pollster. He's by no means a Pierre Polyev supporter. In fact, quite the opposite, I would guess.
00:05:37.060 But take a look at this. In Ontario alone, the Conservatives have surged away from the Liberals.
00:05:41.780 The Conservatives are pulling away. The Liberals are down, the NDP are down, and also the PPC are
00:05:46.500 getting beat by the Green Party. By Elizabeth May's Green Party, no less. Come on guys, figure that out.
00:05:51.300 But the picture is no better for Justin Trudeau federally. Look at the way CTV, CTV News, have written
00:05:57.860 about these latest polling numbers. The Conservative lead, which has been creeping up steadily since December,
00:06:02.980 is now outside the margin of error. And with the NDP increasing their share of the ballot,
00:06:07.300 the Liberals are having their support chipped away at both sides. In an interview on CTV News'
00:06:12.500 Trendline podcast, Nanos Research founder Nick Nanos called the numbers, quote,
00:06:17.140 very grim for the Liberals. This is the worst way for the Liberals to start off their year,
00:06:21.780 because they're basically back on their heels. And it looks like a significant number of Canadians
00:06:25.700 are looking at the Conservatives. Oh no, Canadians are looking at the Conservatives,
00:06:29.060 that's terrible news, terrible news. Oh really, really tough there, isn't it? And it's not just
00:06:35.140 Nanos Research that are putting up these numbers. Take a look, they're all showing Conservatives well
00:06:40.580 in the lead against the Liberals. Nanos has the Conservatives up eight points. Abacus has the
00:06:46.260 Conservatives up four points. Main Street has the Conservatives up four points. And Legge has the
00:06:51.140 Conservatives up three points. That is to start 2023. Just last year, at the exact same time,
00:06:57.300 this is what it looked like. Nanos had the Conservatives just up one point. Main Street
00:07:01.860 had the Conservatives and the Liberals tied. Abacus had Liberals up two points. And Legge had the
00:07:06.980 Liberals up three points. Now, Justin Trudeau's five-minute unhinged tirade, of course, went viral
00:07:12.260 on Twitter. Take a look at some of the replies. He projects a lot. Everything he accuses Paul Yev of
00:07:16.660 doing, he has been doing himself. Like exploiting fear for political gain? Like dividing the
00:07:20.820 population to advance your own political interests? Oh wait, Trudeau's never done that. He's just a
00:07:26.100 member of a small fringe minority now. Nothing says beating a dead horse like employing excessive
00:07:32.100 hand gesturing. Yes, a usual telltale sign, but like I said before, Justin Trudeau is the actor. It's
00:07:38.340 actor first, politician second. So we have to understand that everything is well-calculated.
00:07:42.900 Everything is a well-thought-out, well-choreographed move to potentially deceive Canadians into thinking
00:07:47.700 maybe he's down and out. Now, polls can tell us a lot about public opinion, but as you're all well
00:07:51.540 aware, polls are oftentimes quite wrong. But as Stephen Harper famously said, the only poll that
00:07:56.260 matters is the one on election day. But there is, however, one tried and true method of getting a
00:08:01.060 real understanding of how Canadians think about you. That is, of course, going outside and talking to
00:08:05.300 them face-to-face. But for Justin Trudeau, that isn't really possible because everywhere he goes,
00:08:10.100 he gets brutally heckled. And on Tuesday night, this is how Justin Trudeau's motorcade was met on his
00:08:15.940 way to his $1,000 a plate fundraiser meet-and-greet dinner with Justin event.
00:08:26.580 Ratio of the week time, let's get into it. All right, the winner this week for the ratio of the
00:08:29.860 week prize is CBC British Columbia for this stupid, stupid video they posted on Twitter. 1.00
00:08:35.860 This is the CBC president, Catherine Tate, who, by the way, makes way too much money, 1.00
00:08:40.340 as you could have guessed, and doesn't even live in Canada. She is now going on a cross-country
00:08:44.900 PR tour to try and explain to Canadians why the CBC is so important. And in this video,
00:08:50.820 she talks about things such as the CBC's high standard of journalism, saying the CBC has the
00:08:56.500 highest standard of journalism in the country. Do we really believe that the CBC's productions
00:09:01.540 of Talking Tomatoes telling us about systemic racism, or the CBC talking about the first non-binary
00:09:07.860 pansexual South Asian Muslim comedian really is the highest standard of entertainment in this country?
00:09:13.380 Un-freaking-believable. Watch what this woman has to say. 1.00
00:09:17.780 Welcome back. We're going to do something a little bit different tonight because CBC's
00:09:21.780 president, Catherine Tate, is kicking off a cross-country campaign to talk about the CBC
00:09:26.820 and what the public broadcaster brings to Canada. She joins me live now. Thanks so much for being with us.
00:09:31.780 Thank you, Anita. I want to start by talking about this narrative that many say was created by Trump,
00:09:37.940 you know, that the media is the enemy. I myself struggle often to defend what we do here and the
00:09:44.340 great journalism that we do. What do you say to people who say that the media is feeding lies?
00:09:51.060 Well, first of all, I just want everybody, especially those people who work at CBC,
00:09:56.820 to feel proud of the incredible work of truth-telling. And the gold standard of CBC Radio
00:10:03.860 Canada, the journalistic standards and practices are really the highest in the country. So that's
00:10:09.060 something really important to remind people of. But I also think that we need to pull back a little
00:10:15.780 bit. It's one of the reasons I'm here in Vancouver doing an event with UBC and SFU tomorrow,
00:10:21.780 to talk about what's going on. Why is there this decline in trust? Not just for CBC, Radio Canada,
00:10:29.380 or the media in general, but for public institutions, for politics, for government. What is happening here?
00:10:36.660 It takes a truly special type of person to be able to say this stuff with a straight face. Almost
00:10:42.100 commendable. Take a look at this meme. Perfect. Before, journalists at the CBC actually did their jobs.
00:10:48.420 And now, just like their counterparts, Global News, CTV News, our favorite at ratioed,
00:10:52.500 who else you want to throw in there? Toronto Star, Global Mail, you all know the rest.
00:10:55.540 Now they're just Justin Trudeau's stenographers repeating everything he says.
00:10:58.980 In my Toronto neighborhood of Riverdale, where half the CBC's producers slash talent live,
00:11:03.860 there was nothing but quiet muttering about what a woke disaster the network has become, 0.98
00:11:07.940 taken over by race hustlers, Marxists, and transsexuals. I don't remember asking for articles 1.00
00:11:13.860 about the underarm grooming habits of Toronto transsexuals. You might not have asked for that, 1.00
00:11:18.180 but clearly, if the CBC is doing it, that is what most Canadians want. Canadians clearly want this.
00:11:23.540 That's why we give them over a billion dollars a year. 1.2 to be exact. And here we go. Last comment.
00:11:28.660 I respect anyone who wears their bathrobe to an interview. Well, you know what? If that's what
00:11:32.660 it's going to take for Catherine Tate to earn the respect of Canadians, a group of people who don't
00:11:36.500 live in the country she resides in, well, I guess that'll be what it'll be. Alright, that's going to do it 0.99
00:11:41.380 for us this week on the show. Thank you so much for tuning in. My name is Harrison Faulkner, and this is
00:11:46.020 Thank you so much for watching!
00:11:54.020 Alrighty, where are you?
00:11:56.340 Will the Spreed Do You going in?
00:11:58.500 Under the awarded pay?
00:11:59.540 Deer to deserve depreciation to 25% minus 18did to be exact.
00:12:03.700 Have you ever seen Irtus beg is gone.

00:12:07.780 Bye to болzun.
00:12:09.180 Like she said, make sure, let me hear you.
00:12:10.180 See you in the episode, and the delivered gym.
00:12:11.700 Love its y'all get amigos and McDonalds believe you be that
