00:00:00.000 When it comes to lockdowns and mandates, we're seeing things change very quickly, and rightly so.
00:00:08.840 Dr. Tam has said that vaccine mandates should be re-evaluated,
00:00:12.160 and today the Chair of the Quebec Liberal Caucus clearly and strongly stated
00:00:16.600 it's time to end the divisiveness, end the politicization, and end the mandates.
00:00:21.260 We Conservatives could not agree more.
00:00:23.860 This cannot be a slow and dragged-out process
00:00:26.280 simply because of the Prime Minister's ego, pride, or denial.
00:00:30.800 Canadians are too tired. Canadians need hope.
00:00:34.240 So will the Prime Minister follow the science, follow the evidence,
00:00:38.500 and the restrictions, and the mandates?
00:00:42.380 The Right Honourable Prime Minister.
00:00:45.580 Mr. Speaker, everyone is sick and tired of lockdowns,
00:00:50.080 of the measures we have to do, of the sacrifices we've had to make,
00:00:53.760 but Canadians have continued to step up over the past two years,
00:00:58.100 been there for each other, been there to get vaccinated,
00:01:01.980 and that's the unity we've seen across the country,
00:01:04.780 of people who've been there for their neighbours,
00:01:07.040 who've been there for their frontline health workers.
00:01:09.540 That's what Canadians are going to continue to do.
00:01:12.560 That's how we get through and back to the things we love.
00:01:16.100 We're going to continue to follow the science.
00:01:18.400 We're going to continue to have Canadians' backs.
00:01:20.400 We're going to continue to protect people's lives.
00:01:23.080 The Honourable Leader of the Opposition.
00:01:27.100 Countries like Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Israel, Czech Republic,
00:01:30.820 the UK, Spain, Denmark, they're all removing restrictions and mandates,
00:01:35.780 and they're all countries that have a lower vaccine rate than Canada.
00:01:39.360 Here in Canada, though, we have a Prime Minister who refuses to lead
00:01:42.360 and instead is being divisive.
00:01:45.060 I have to agree with the MP for Louis Hebert when he says,
00:01:47.940 people don't know where public health ends and politics begins.
00:01:52.560 Canadians want their lives back.
00:01:54.540 So again, I ask the Prime Minister,
00:01:56.780 will he follow the evidence, will he follow the science
00:02:00.600 and the mandates and the restrictions quickly?
00:02:03.640 Mr. Speaker, every step of the way,
00:02:12.700 we have had Canadians' backs by following the science,
00:02:16.260 by working closely with...
00:02:18.260 Now, the Honourable Leader of the Opposition asked a question,
00:02:33.500 and she's trying to hear, but she can't hear it
00:02:35.320 above all the heckling and shouting that's going on.
00:02:38.240 So I'm going to ask everyone to just keep it down
00:02:39.880 so she can hear the answer coming from the Prime Minister,
00:02:42.300 the right Honourable Prime Minister.
00:02:43.420 Mr. Speaker, from the beginning of this pandemic,
00:02:46.380 we have followed science, we have had Canadians' backs,
00:02:49.580 and we've actually seen a less severe impact on lives,
00:02:54.980 on livelihoods and our economy than many other countries,
00:02:58.840 including the ones that the Leader of the Opposition named.
00:03:01.480 We will continue to follow the science.
00:03:03.980 We will continue to lean on each other as Canadians
00:03:06.800 as we make it through this pandemic.
00:03:10.040 We know that it's tiring.
00:03:11.920 We know it's exhausting, but we also know
00:03:14.520 that having each other's backs is the way through this pandemic.
00:03:18.380 The Leader of the Opposition.
00:03:20.360 Speaker, the Prime Minister has politicized the pandemic
00:03:22.960 and been divisive, and even his own members are seeing it.
00:03:27.000 Now, countries around the world are opening up,
00:03:28.740 and even here in Canada, provinces are opening up.
00:03:31.200 They're following the science and the evidence,
00:03:32.980 whether it's Dr. Henry in B.C., Dr. Moore in Ontario.
00:03:36.540 They all agree we have to learn to live with COVID.
00:03:38.960 Conservatives believe that living with COVID means opening up
00:03:42.820 and ending the mandates,
00:03:44.100 and I believe there are some Liberals who believe the same thing.
00:03:47.620 So will the Prime Minister follow the science and the lockdowns
00:03:51.540 and let Canada once again be the true North, strong and free?
00:03:55.680 Mr. Speaker, I'm extremely pleased to hear the Conservatives
00:04:04.000 finally talking about following science,
00:04:06.420 because that's something that they have fallen down on
00:04:08.680 throughout this pandemic,
00:04:10.120 whether it was not choosing to get vaccinated,
00:04:13.140 whether it's continuing to debate
00:04:15.220 over the effectiveness of public health measures.
00:04:18.280 Fortunately, we've been working with provincial premiers
00:04:21.320 right across the country to bring in the kinds of restrictions,
00:04:24.880 the kinds of mandates that have saved Canadians' lives.
00:04:28.380 Unfortunately, we see Conservatives continuing to both
00:04:31.280 call an end to the protests from in here
00:04:33.720 and support them out there.
00:04:36.040 They need to be more responsible leaders
00:04:38.080 to get through this and to play less politics.
