00:00:00.000 Well after what feels like years of
00:00:08.460 public campaigns and calls on the
00:00:10.200 federal government to drop the carbon
00:00:12.080 tax on struggling Canadians, Justin
00:00:14.280 Trudeau and the Liberal government have
00:00:15.880 finally relented. For one part of the
00:00:18.360 country. The part of the country that
00:00:20.220 always votes liberal. Which really
00:00:22.500 shouldn't surprise anybody because that
00:00:23.940 appears to be how governing is done
00:00:25.560 these days. Good things happen to those
00:00:27.360 that vote for the government and for
00:00:29.160 those that don't well pretty much
00:00:31.200 nothing and in the case of the prairies
00:00:33.180 in this country things get substantially
00:00:34.740 worse when you don't vote for the
00:00:37.080 Liberals. After all why do anything to try
00:00:39.540 and win over new voters when you can just
00:00:41.700 continue to divide the population over
00:00:43.440 regional lines. The Liberals have suspended
00:00:45.960 the carbon tax on home heating oil which
00:00:48.120 is one of the primary methods of heating
00:00:49.740 the homes of Atlantic Canadians during
00:00:51.300 the winter. Meanwhile for context only
00:00:53.640 2% of Ontario homes rely on home heating
00:00:56.040 oil and the rest of the country relies on
00:00:58.260 propane and natural gas to keep warm
00:01:00.780 during the winter. But of course he's
00:01:02.580 only doing this to try and save his own
00:01:04.260 political skin while forcing the rest of
00:01:06.120 the country to shell out more money for
00:01:08.020 an unnecessary tax just to keep
00:01:09.900 themselves and their families warm
00:01:11.220 during the winter. Trudeau is down in the
00:01:12.840 polls and he seems to be desperately
00:01:14.700 looking for ways to try and stay in
00:01:16.200 power. Now if climate change were really
00:01:17.940 that much of a threat you would think
00:01:19.560 that Justin Trudeau's key environmental
00:01:21.380 policy to stop climate change would be
00:01:23.940 non-negotiable. But when it comes down to his
00:01:25.980 own political survival it looks as though
00:01:28.200 everything is on the table. Drop a like
00:01:30.360 in the video help us up with subscribing
00:01:31.740 to the TrueNorth YouTube channel and the
00:01:33.420 common question for the episode is this
00:01:35.480 will Justin Trudeau drop the carbon tax for
00:01:39.060 propane and natural gas if his polling
00:01:41.640 continues to decline? Let me know in the
00:01:43.560 comments and let's get into it. For those
00:01:45.300 that missed it on Friday here is the
00:01:47.160 moment that Justin Trudeau had to back
00:01:48.940 down on a key environmental policy driving
00:01:52.360 his agenda for the last seven to eight
00:01:54.300 years. Today we are announcing a three
00:01:57.840 year pause on the federal pollution price
00:02:00.920 on heating oil so that we can give
00:02:03.340 everyone the time and ability to switch
00:02:07.640 to heat pumps. Now for whatever reason
00:02:09.840 the liberals have tried to play this off
00:02:11.660 as though it's some victory. It's some
00:02:13.680 policy win when in reality it's an obvious
00:02:16.080 failure. At the core of this the liberals
00:02:18.140 have had to reconcile with the fact that
00:02:20.180 the carbon tax they were imposing on
00:02:21.920 Canadians was simply unaffordable. But
00:02:24.100 instead of actually helping Canadians 0.82
00:02:26.000 the liberals had to play politics with
00:02:28.280 the issue and find a way to benefit those
00:02:30.340 that vote for them and to punish those
00:02:32.400 that don't. According to the government's
00:02:34.360 own data 70 percent of households in
00:02:37.000 Manitoba rely on forced air furnaces
00:02:39.900 using natural gas and 82 percent of homes
00:02:42.780 in Alberta use the same system. Meanwhile
00:02:45.540 40 percent of homes in Atlantic Canada rely
00:02:48.480 on home heating oil. Thanks to Chris Simms
00:02:50.860 and Gage Halbrich in the Edmonton Sun we
00:02:53.200 know exactly what this carbon tax would
00:02:55.260 cost Atlantic Canadians if the liberals
00:02:57.620 didn't suspend the carbon tax on home
00:02:59.980 heating oil and we know exactly what it's
00:03:02.100 still going to cost the rest of the
00:03:03.740 country who use natural gas and propane
00:03:06.260 to heat their homes during the winter.
00:03:07.980 According to the Edmonton Sun the average
00:03:09.880 household in Atlantic Canada uses about
00:03:12.020 1600 liters of furnace oil per year. That
00:03:14.840 means the carbon tax would cost about 272
00:03:17.460 dollars extra for winter heat. An average
00:03:20.020 Alberta home uses about 2800 cubic meters
00:03:23.480 of natural gas per year. So the carbon tax
00:03:26.120 will cost Albertans about 337 extra dollars
00:03:30.220 to heat their home. Saskatchewan homes use
00:03:32.560 about 2244 cubic meters of natural gas
00:03:36.160 costing 269 dollars extra in the carbon
00:03:39.160 tax per year and homes in Manitoba go
00:03:41.720 through about 1989 cubic meters of natural
00:03:45.020 gas costing about 238 dollars more for the
00:03:48.820 winter. As I said before the carbon tax is
00:03:51.400 Justin Trudeau's way of trying to solve
00:03:54.120 climate change in this country. He was
00:03:56.160 going to solve climate change by punishing
00:03:58.600 hard-working Canadians for daring to heat
00:04:01.200 their homes the way they always have in the
00:04:03.660 harsh Canadian winter. From driving to work
00:04:05.800 and putting food on the table for their
00:04:07.520 families. But as it now appears with most
00:04:10.260 announcements from the Liberal government even
00:04:12.360 the once loyal legacy media can see right
00:04:15.640 through the politics of everything the
00:04:17.960 government is doing and even they aren't
00:04:20.300 afraid to call the Liberals out to their
00:04:21.780 faces. Something once we all thought
00:04:23.880 unimaginable. For example take a look at
00:04:26.420 this interview between Vashi Capellos of
00:04:28.600 CTV and the Liberal World Economic
00:04:31.640 Development Minister Goody Hutchings
00:04:33.660 discussing this carbon tax exemption. She does a
00:04:36.720 little more than letting the mask slip here I
00:04:38.560 think. Is it because you've seen such a drop
00:04:41.020 in your polling numbers particularly in
00:04:42.820 Atlantic Canada? I think the abacus poll in 0.96
00:04:45.460 June put the Liberals at 36 percent. By
00:04:47.860 September you were down to 30 percent. The
00:04:49.860 Conservatives at 32 percent in June were up
00:04:51.940 to 43 percent in September. Is this just
00:04:54.940 responding to that? Vashi this isn't about
00:04:55.780 polls it's about people. And if you know
00:04:59.340 Vashi this isn't about polls this is about
00:05:01.140 people. And if you looked at the polls in
00:05:02.800 2015 you would have seen that we were in
00:05:04.460 third place. I don't pay any attention to
00:05:06.180 polls but I do pay attention to constituents
00:05:08.520 and people. Is your government open to
00:05:10.440 because of the affordability crisis right
00:05:12.720 across this country looking at other
00:05:14.100 carve outs for other types of home
00:05:15.660 heating in the future? That's a discussion
00:05:17.940 that we'll have down the road when we know
00:05:19.320 that this one is working. But I can tell
00:05:21.440 you Atlantic Caucus was vocal with what
00:05:24.240 they've heard from their constituents and
00:05:26.580 perhaps they need to elect more Liberals on
00:05:28.920 the prairies that we can have that
00:05:30.140 conversation as well. Perhaps they need to
00:05:32.560 elect more Liberals on the prairies. And it's
00:05:34.180 safe to say that Canadians are pretty fired 1.00
00:05:36.280 up in the comments section of this
00:05:38.000 interview. It's always about polls. That is
00:05:40.480 why the Liberals ignore Western Canada.
00:05:42.760 Electing more Liberals in the prairies is
00:05:44.360 like allowing criminals into your house to
00:05:45.960 help them in preventing break-ins. She was
00:05:47.900 honest in saying only Liberal ridings get
00:05:49.960 help. Every voice in Canada should be heard
00:05:52.360 not just Liberal voters. Polling equals
00:05:55.280 walkbacks. How about Eastern Canada get real
00:05:57.900 and elect more Conservative MPs instead of
00:05:59.700 aloof Liberals so Canada gets back to being 0.97
00:06:02.560 prosperous and caring about the citizens. And
00:06:05.040 just to dive into the polling data briefly, the
00:06:07.240 situation for the Liberals in Atlantic Canada is
00:06:09.940 not looking good. Remember that in 2015, Justin
00:06:12.860 Trudeau and the Liberals completely swept
00:06:15.440 Atlantic Canada, taking all the seats in the
00:06:18.460 region. According to the latest polling from
00:06:20.480 338, of the 32 available seats in Atlantic
00:06:23.440 Canada, the Conservatives are poised to take 22 of
00:06:26.740 them. The popular vote projection for
00:06:28.720 Conservatives is at 41% to the Liberals down at
00:06:31.760 33%. And from the beginning of 2023 to where we
00:06:35.820 are today, the Liberals have been in freefall mode. And
00:06:39.440 Pierre Polyev knows it. Justin Trudeau is in total
00:06:44.080 panic mode. After eight years of telling Canadians they
00:06:50.540 had to pay higher carbon taxes on gas, heat and
00:06:56.020 groceries, he admitted that his carbon tax is not worth the
00:07:00.260 cost of heat. Now what caused this sudden press conference
00:07:05.940 that he cobbled together on Parliament Hill with little
00:07:10.500 notice? What caused Justin Trudeau to freak out yesterday and
00:07:15.300 hold a sudden press conference to announce that he was going to
00:07:20.180 pause the carbon tax on home heating oil? The answer is that
00:07:27.060 he was plummeting in the polls and Pierre Polyev was holding
00:07:31.300 massive rallies in Liberal held ridings to axe the tax. Justin
00:07:37.300 Trudeau is not worried about the cost of living. He's worried about the cost of
00:07:41.860 votes. At some point, someone should ask the question, would the Liberal
00:07:45.780 government be doing anything differently if their sole objective was to drive
00:07:50.420 resentment from the West to strengthen separatist sentiment across the
00:07:54.500 prairies in this country? Whether it be plowing ahead with unconstitutional
00:07:58.180 laws that limit provincial sovereignty over natural resources to impose the so-called
00:08:03.220 just transition on Alberta and the prairies, and now to this, explicitly
00:08:08.580 exempting Atlantic provinces from the carbon tax while forcing Albertans and
00:08:12.580 the rest of the country to pay up, is because the political fortunes of
00:08:16.100 Liberals in the East seems to be in trouble. As many have already pointed out, this is
00:08:20.260 nothing but a slap in the face to hard-working Western Canadians, only 0.99
00:08:23.780 serving to hurt the pocketbooks of Western Canadians while also driving
00:08:28.100 separatist sentiment. And it's also more clear now than ever before that
00:08:32.420 climate change is nothing but a political tool for progressive politicians, to be
00:08:36.900 used and tweaked to gain the greatest political outcome, not to actually do
00:08:40.740 anything for the environment. It always was political, and always will be
00:08:44.340 political, because if climate change were really that existential to Canada,
00:08:47.620 we wouldn't be in the position where Trudeau was handing out exemptions to
00:08:50.740 those that vote for him. Alright everyone, that's going to do it for us today on
00:08:53.540 the show. Thank you so much for tuning in. My name is Harrison Faulkner, and this is
00:08:57.220 рекi's Ratio.
