Juno News - Trump or Kamala？ Americans react to presidential election

00:00:00.000 hey guys it's rachel parker here with true north i am in niagara falls new york and we are going

00:00:05.040 to go talk to some americans to see what they think about the u.s election so far and what

00:00:09.440 they think about the democratic national convention currently ongoing with policies

00:00:13.360 like offering free abortions and vasectomies let's go take a look come on

00:00:17.280 do you know who you're voting for this election cycle trump trump trump trump why are you voting

00:00:31.200 for trump love him love his views on life love his views on america i think he's good for america

00:00:37.760 we're from west virginia and all west virginians feel that way kamala harris

00:00:43.040 and why is that um i tend to be on the liberal progressive side so she her her what she

00:00:52.880 stands for is more in line with i believe so so will you guys be voting for for kamala on election day

00:00:59.120 i would say yes i would say i am if you had to sum up in one sentence why you're voting for

00:01:06.080 kamala what would you say to keep trump out of office to keep trump out of office that would be

00:01:13.280 number one i'm pretty well said who i'm going to vote for it's it's a shoe-in the way i see it i

00:01:20.080 don't want to vote for a convicted felon that has an ego and attitude problem so you are supporting

00:01:26.240 kamala harris just because you dislike trump or because you'd like some of her policies uh both

00:01:31.200 so it's more dislike for trump than a like for her i don't know that much about her really um see

00:01:39.200 she's uh had some impressive jobs and apparently is good at them and and uh i'm hopeful well right

00:01:48.640 now from what she said at the convention she's done a pretty good job of convincing this voter i hope that

00:01:55.200 the uh you know i like to quote what trump said during the 2016 uh uh you know uh process where

00:02:03.280 he said he loves the ignorant and uneducated so i hope that kamala harris can get through to the 0.97

00:02:08.880 ignorant and uneducated that donald trump loves just because you don't like the guy you gotta see what 0.99

00:02:14.560 how those four years ran with him and now the four years running with biden we were out way way better 0.99

00:02:23.040 off back then than we are now i like kamala you know i mean uh i'm not even about i just like

00:02:29.280 personal you know because uh today these kids is much older and um you know it just should be fair

00:02:38.000 and it's because the board i'd bring that's what she'll bring so the democratic national convention's 0.99

00:02:42.240 happening right now i don't know if you guys are paying attention to that at all but one of the things

00:02:45.280 they're doing this year is they're actually offering free abortions and free vasectomies for

00:02:49.760 people at the convention what do you guys make of that that's another thing you know

00:02:55.600 all right if you if you want to abort a child that's up to you and god when you die you know

00:03:00.640 that has nothing to do you know what i mean to run an election on that's what you're worried about is 0.77

00:03:04.960 abortion well that's pretty silly yeah you know that's the least of worries about what they want

00:03:10.640 to give free abortions out i think people should be held a little more accountable for their own actions

00:03:16.640 instead of putting that on everybody else to put it on the taxpayers dime don't agree with that

00:03:22.000 vasectomies is your choice but abortion is the baby is included you know so vasectomies is a form of 0.61

00:03:31.600 birth control should have thought of vasectomy before you got pregnant the abortion yeah i feel the 0.94

00:03:38.080 same way she does you know i'm a christian so i i believe in birth you know bringing the life into

00:03:46.080 the world but who it's kind of like what pope francis says when he says who am i to judge

00:03:51.840 when it comes to the clergy sex abuse and the homosexual clergy that goes against what it says in the

00:03:58.080 teachings of the holy bible why should i judge someone that wants to do what they're going to do

00:04:04.400 i care about my individual liberties just like i care about theirs they should be entitled to do

00:04:10.240 what they want and not have any judgment from anyone um another thing about the democrat national

00:04:16.240 convention right now is they're supporting the u.s citizens act which would grant citizenship to

00:04:21.600 illegal immigrants what do you think no no they got they got they got to come here legally man 0.96

00:04:28.160 you want to come here come here the right way and pay taxes and do what you have to do

00:04:32.640 you know you're just running across the border and coming here and now we're gonna have to support

00:04:35.840 them and pay for them and no no they they have to get thrown back and then come back the right way

00:04:41.520 that's all i think um i i'm not so sure that's exactly correct that they're just offering um i think

00:04:49.200 there's a process that people would have to go through but i'm for that so you think that the

00:04:54.720 state's immigration numbers need to be higher or about as high as they are i think we could have higher

00:04:58.960 immigration numbers in the united states absolutely i mean our unemployment rate's so low i mean

00:05:05.120 i think there's there's just not enough jobs to go around now i think we need to deport the illegals 1.00

00:05:13.280 that's a good thing for this country because you've got a you've got more people that want

00:05:19.040 to be productive and be taxpayers and part of the united states so that's a good thing are you i

00:05:25.440 concerned at all that some of the you know asylum seekers some of the illegal immigrants are not

00:05:29.760 wanting to be taxpayers are instead a burden to taxpayers not necessarily because how many refugees 1.00

00:05:36.480 go into canada like they do here in the united states people that need help need to be helped

00:05:42.880 i don't think we can afford them and they're probably going to vote for somebody we don't want

00:05:46.160 them to vote for yes so i think that's probably the reason they're being allowed here you know you

00:05:52.320 you know you support kamala do you support um the manner in which she was chosen do you think that

00:05:56.640 it was really like a fair choice for people that you know support the democrats or you know some

00:06:00.720 people have said it was basically just a coup and she just replaced joe biden people weren't really

00:06:04.240 given much it wasn't a co no he he stepped down and uh the the delegates backed come on i think she was

00:06:12.720 installed i don't i don't there's nobody in their right mind that would have kept joe biden in i mean

00:06:20.000 he was just rambling bumbling about nothing um so she was kind of installed and i think it's kind of

00:06:26.240 just a setup you know it's something that was set up that nobody was elected into her position really 0.63

00:06:31.520 it's just she just kind of was put in the right place i think i'll tell you what when i look at the

00:06:37.200 history of the united states of america what's happened all the way back to slavery and you know

00:06:43.600 you look at the way the economy of the united states back uh when slavery was around the fact

00:06:50.320 that the descendants of slaves from that period at that point in time in history i feel like it's

00:06:57.280 a vindication for them and it's a way you know kamala harris being picked it's a way to bring better 0.96

00:07:04.880 race relations on this side of the border because of the wrongs from the past she's a good pick because 0.99

00:07:10.720 of the color of her skin and because she's an intelligent woman obviously that you know 0.59

00:07:17.040 understands she's got the pulse of the people on her side so do you think that all this so-called

00:07:23.120 momentum that we're seeing behind kamala do you perceive that that is a real thing or do you think

00:07:26.880 that's just the media pushing an agenda media pushing yes it's gonna be close i think because uh

00:07:34.800 i'm from pa and she's pretty close to trump and pa and i i don't understand how so you think trump is

00:07:41.200 a shoo-in at this point no i think media is very powerful so do you think that the media and the

00:07:49.600 states is powerful enough to sway the results of the election in comas i think they are yes last

00:07:55.440 election they favors they side there may be a uh fox news that favors trump and and cnn is going to favor

00:08:02.960 camera there's not going to be a difference it's not going to stop until somebody step in and say 0.76

00:08:08.000 look here i want to work on fox news and goddamn cnn and say the middle like in canada you know your 0.59

00:08:13.920 economy's been struggling a little bit these last few years really high inflation uh really high costs 0.92

00:08:18.240 at the grocery stores i'd be surprised if you hadn't experienced some of that yourself do you

00:08:21.440 attribute any of this to to policies of the biden and harris administration no i'm gonna go all the

00:08:27.680 way back to uh voodoo and trickle down economics from when the bushes were president i think it's

00:08:35.840 beyond it's it's a hard thing to control like i said economy things i think i think the pandemics

00:08:43.040 had a lot to do a lasting effect you know that that's going on you know we're going to be feeling

00:08:49.520 it for a long time in one way or another well it seems like when the conservatives want to just

00:08:54.960 take care of one specific group of people they exclude everyone else and it seems like

00:09:02.560 business people that know what to do with capital are the only ones that'll try to find positive

00:09:09.520 solutions from the negative outcomes from their presidencies they just spend spend spend and

00:09:17.440 the middle class is getting killed we we can't afford nothing you know i mean two people out there

00:09:22.560 i'm 61 i got i got to work now even harder now than i did before just to pay my my mortgage

00:09:29.680 it's outrageous do you think america looks great on the world stage right now

00:09:34.320 showing the reversal stage of just trying to just get back into the current yeah they look great

00:09:37.840 america's always america's the greatest country in the world think of some of the great american

00:09:43.440 politicians from way back and you know they led the people the people got behind them you know and

00:09:54.000 now it's it's kind of out of control all right everyone so there you have it a little taste of

00:10:00.480 what some americans think about their election ongoing right now i do have to say this is my first time

00:10:05.680 on the american side of the falls it is much nicer than the canadian side it's true the view of

00:10:10.800 horseshoe falls isn't quite as good but the town surrounding it is much nicer if you've ever been to

00:10:15.120 the canadian side of the falls you'll know exactly what i mean all right guys that's all we have time

00:10:18.880 for today on rachel and the republic i'll see you next week with more coverage of the american election

00:10:23.920 have a great weekend god bless
