00:00:00.000 I was happy to be in the hub on Monday morning, first thing in the morning before this walkback
00:00:05.500 started, with Matt Spoke of Project Ontario. And we together were writing about how the first job
00:00:14.220 is disappearing and young Canadians deserve better, with a particular focus on Ontario and 0.90
00:00:19.520 the Ontario job numbers that are grim. And it builds on the advocacy that I have engaged in
00:00:27.800 with the National Citizens Coalition, which is Canada's sort of founding conservative
00:00:32.520 nonprofit advocacy group founded in 1967 by my grandfather.
00:00:38.580 And he would have been appalled with what's happened over the last sort of what we refer
00:00:44.680 to as a lost liberal decade.
00:00:47.020 But he would have been particularly appalled by the fact that the companies now claiming
00:00:51.800 to, you know, that wants you to buy Canadian and some of these folks waving new flags that
00:00:58.540 they just bought on Amazon or Timu and, you know, pay for our stuff for cheaper, they're
00:01:06.260 not hiring Canadian. And what Ford just attempted to do was compound that problem. There is
00:01:13.360 a case to be made that, yes, having all these asylum seekers in hotels and the feds are
00:01:18.980 finally set to pull funding for this. What the heck is he supposed to do with a problem that
00:01:25.500 has largely been put on his front door by the federal government? But it wasn't this. No one
00:01:31.160 was asking for this, except for maybe, maybe some shadowy lobby groups, such as the Century
00:01:38.960 Initiative, which is Canada's sort of mass immigration advocacy effort, which their
00:01:45.640 corporate sponsors include three of the major banks and the Globe and Mail. Maybe this was
00:01:52.960 dreamed up over his supposed late night campfire tale with Mark Carney during that first minister's
00:02:01.900 week. This is a man that he ostensibly endorsed during the federal election while Ford and some
00:02:09.420 of his inner circle were busy lobbing bombs at the federal conservatives. And I know you don't
00:02:15.620 recall asking for what he just tried to pull. And so many groups like the Coalition, now Project
00:02:22.040 Ontario, you know, they're fighting for the little guy here, Michelle Rempel, the shadow minister
00:02:28.040 of immigration in the House. She's been absolutely terrific. And the real concern here right now is
00:02:36.740 that we don't want to be talking about immigration during a summer slowdown.
00:02:40.760 There's supposed to be one.
00:02:42.140 It's July.
00:02:43.680 But there's a concerted effort to further undercut these kids,
00:02:49.740 to further undercut our working class.
