00:00:00.000 These past few days have served as a wake-up call to many Canadians, a reminder to just how atrocious
00:00:12.840 and wretched the Iranian regime in Tehran is. Something Iranian-Canadian dissidents have been
00:00:19.060 trying to make us understand for years. First, we had the killing of Qasem Soleimani, and a lot of
00:00:25.620 people just hadn't really heard of the guy before, maybe heard the name mentioned in passing, and then
00:00:30.920 we had a learning opportunity to actually appreciate who this guy is and what he was doing. A senior agent
00:00:39.000 of the state who had a terror cell, the Quds Force, where he went around the region and basically
00:00:44.720 destabilized as many countries as he could, running various proxy wars. This is atrocious, and it opened
00:00:51.940 our eyes wide that this was happening, not clandestinely in Iran, but one of their most
00:00:57.160 prominent figures was behind all of this. So when people call Iran a terror regime, a state sponsor
00:01:03.820 of terror and all of that, you understand just how real it really is. Now we're seeing with the plane
00:01:10.760 crash, Iran is just being absolutely awful in how they respond to all of this. Prime Minister Justin
00:01:17.920 Trudeau and other leaders, England as well, stepping forward saying, we've got evidence that says that
00:01:22.780 this was not a technical malfunction, that the plane was shot down, most likely by accident. Iran
00:01:28.560 immediately doing a cover-up. As soon as the plane went down, they said, well, it was a technical
00:01:34.340 malfunction, but you haven't seen the black box, and you say that the cockpit didn't speak to any air
00:01:39.740 traffic controllers. How on earth can you say that? They said that immediately. And then we had Ukrainian
00:01:44.780 authorities and other aviation experts begin to push back and say, right now, the cause is unknown.
00:01:50.560 And now, evidence points to the fact the plane was shot down. What is Iran doing? Well, there was hope
00:01:56.500 that they would go, okay, fine, we'll be honest here. Uh-uh. Now they are pushing back, demanding Canada
00:02:02.980 release its evidence. They're being cagey with what they're going to do with this black box. They seem to
00:02:07.680 just want to keep it to themselves. One Iranian representative even said, a spokesman for the government,
00:02:13.680 saying that accusations that the plane was shot down is psychological warfare being waged by the West
00:02:20.440 against Iran. Are you kidding me? This is not the way a normal country speaks. This is not a way a normal
00:02:27.500 country operates. Now, some people have been aware of this with Iran for many years, but other observers
00:02:32.720 go, wow, really? And we're really beginning to appreciate just how wretched this regime is. This is far from the
00:02:39.980 first time that they have messed with Canada. Back in 2009, a Canadian photographer went and photographed
00:02:48.820 wives outside of the notorious Evin prison. So women just going there in front of the prison because
00:02:54.440 their husbands were being detained there. It's a notorious prison where there is torture, where
00:02:58.680 there are people executed. All that she did, this Canadian woman, take photographs. Then she was detained.
00:03:05.460 She was tortured, raped, beaten, and murdered in this prison. What did the Iranian government do?
00:03:12.980 They tried to issue documents from bogus coroners saying, oh, she died of a stroke. They gave us the
00:03:18.900 runaround. They refused to give good answers to all of this. And they basically engaged in a cover-up
00:03:25.400 of a Canadian woman that they killed in one of their prisons. Iran is an atrocious regime,
00:03:31.480 a horrible regime. There's a lot of awful stuff going on right now. And these 63 Canadian citizens
00:03:37.400 killed in this plane crash. It's very tragic stuff. And I don't want to say if something good could come
00:03:42.620 of this because that is not the right way to frame this because there's nothing good coming out of
00:03:46.440 this, although the death of Soleimani actually is a good thing. But this situation, this episode we are
00:03:52.460 in right now, it's really driving home just how wretched this regime is and how Canadians need to
00:03:59.280 be tough with them. We need to not put up with their PR statements, their nonsense, their insults
00:04:04.800 to us. And we need to keep this with us now in this moment as we deal with getting to the answers
00:04:10.740 of this plane crash. And we need to keep this in mind in the years ahead as we deal with this
00:04:15.460 noxious regime.
