Well hey everyone right now I'm in the car on the way to Gatineau to the Canadian Museum of History
00:00:15.600
where the first and only official English language leaders debate will be taking place.
00:00:20.880
Now I set out weeks and weeks ago to cover this and that was always the plan until the leaders
00:00:26.720
debate commission and the parliamentary press gallery told me last week on a Friday morning
00:00:31.760
before a Monday debate that I couldn't cover it. Well let me tell you something this was wrong
00:00:37.280
it was illegal it was unjustified we took the federal government to court True North
00:00:43.120
and Andrew Lawton that's yours truly took the federal government to court so did the rebel
00:00:48.000
these two applications went before a judge today a judge found that there was irreparable harm
00:00:54.080
that would be done if we were not allowed in so the judge has ordered the leaders debates commission
00:00:59.360
to accredit us I am literally on my way to the debate right now I may not have accreditation
00:01:04.800
in the eyes of the debate commission but I have a court order saying they have to let me cover this
00:01:09.680
now it should have never gotten to this point this is not what Canada is supposed to be about
00:01:14.480
journalistic freedoms are things that should be upheld by the state not things that you have to
00:01:19.360
fight the state to have protected but we did it and we don't regret it now this was an expensive
00:01:24.480
endeavor if you can chip in to cover our legal costs please do you can head on over to tnc.news
00:01:29.920
but more importantly stay tuned for my debate coverage for True North from Ottawa en route to
