00:00:00.400 Well, in Canada, we are a nation of diverse people.
00:00:04.360 We believe in equity, and we believe in inclusion.
00:00:07.560 So all the Americans over there with their DUI, they can hate us and they can tell us
00:00:13.200 they don't want to see us on our streets, but these streets belong to us.
00:00:17.320 This country belongs to us, and we will never, ever, ever kiss that gangster's ring.
00:00:23.100 It's elbows up time, people.
00:00:24.800 I'm Clayton DeMaine, I'm here with True North in front of the U.S. Embassy.
00:00:52.840 There is a protest going on called an elbows up, anti-Trump, anti-American protest.
00:01:01.980 We saw protesters gathered right outside of the embassy, NDP, MP Charlie Angus told people
00:01:10.980 not to leave, that they would stand their ground.
00:01:13.840 We are not a 51st state, and this is our city.
00:01:18.120 This is not an American city. 0.60
00:01:19.980 Elbows up, Canada! 0.68
00:01:20.980 Elbows up!
00:01:21.980 Elbows up!
00:01:22.980 Elbows up!
00:01:23.980 Elbows up!
00:01:24.980 Elbows up!
00:01:25.980 The official from the embassy came out to talk to him.
00:01:29.320 They moved the protest across the street.
00:01:32.120 Okay, so let's all head over and we'll just head over.
00:01:35.120 The protest gathered about 50 to 60 people, all with a similar message, very anti-Trump sentiments
00:01:43.260 and pro-Canadian sovereignty as well.
00:01:46.260 We've had really disturbing stories of people being taken off to ICE detention centers, people
00:01:54.300 being deported, people with proper visas who are working in the country legally.
00:01:59.460 What it's done is send a terrible chill.
00:02:02.640 And my advice is that if we don't have a government in the United States where the rule of law applies,
00:02:08.720 where our consular officials can make sure people are being helped and looked after safely,
00:02:14.520 then travel to the United States is something people shouldn't be doing.
00:02:17.680 Okay, and you said you wanted to strip Elon Musk of his citizenship.
00:02:22.900 Was that a realistic thing, and why do you think that we should?
00:02:27.560 Well, you can't strip someone's citizenship with a petition but a sure set to message
00:02:32.400 and it sure pissed Elon off, and if it pisses Elon off, it must be a good day.
00:02:35.740 Do you think of protests like this, what kind of message do you think this will send to America
00:02:40.700 that, you know, Canadians are here right now?
00:02:43.540 What you're seeing all across Canada is Canadians are unified, Canadians are proud, Canadians are sure of themselves,
00:02:49.620 and I think the message to America is I see such division in America, I see such fighting internally in America.
00:02:56.280 You don't see that in Canada. We're together, and we're here very peacefully.
00:03:00.460 So, and if they ask us to leave, we'll leave peacefully.
00:03:03.800 But boy, if you try and take our country, well, it'll be elbows up.
00:03:07.800 I'm not a supporter of the PC party or Pierre Polyev, I think that Polyev is just like Trump.
00:03:14.800 He's our version of that, and if he is our Prime Minister, we are going to be the 51st state,
00:03:21.680 and the things that are happening in the U.S., we are going to start to see happen here.
00:03:26.020 As far as injustice and inequality goes, that's what's going to happen here, and that's not what Canada is about.
00:03:32.520 And it's not just about sovereignty, right? It's about right and wrong.
00:03:36.020 And a lot of what's happening in the States is just flat-out wrong.
00:03:40.360 Mass deportations, inequality, taking away trans rights, all of those things, it's wrong.
00:03:47.360 It's not what Canada stands for, and it is very much what Polyev stands for. 1.00
00:03:53.360 So, he does not stand for the Canadian values.
00:03:57.700 I'm shocked at what I see, and I really need to get out and say to those people that sat on the couch,
00:04:04.900 this is what you get when you do nothing.
00:04:07.200 And so, here's the situation, we're not going to do nothing, we're off the couch, we're in the street,
00:04:11.520 it's cold out here, we're Canadian, we'll suck it up, it's no problem, bring it, we're here, we will stop you.
00:04:18.120 They only understand one thing, honestly.
00:04:21.620 And as much as I'm not a violent man, it's a punch in the nose.
00:04:25.460 So, unfortunately, with the tariffs, we've got to respond in kind, if not even over the odds.
00:04:32.460 Mark Carney, we're talking about a guy that's a banker, you know, but I'm okay with that, this is a trade war.
00:04:39.680 So, I'm okay with a guy who knows how to do that kind of stuff.
00:04:42.680 So, I think we'll go up the middle this time, I think, and that's liberal, just to be clear.
00:04:47.680 And I think that the far right is a movement that will combust, because I don't believe the Canadian people want that.
00:04:55.020 And I think they've been sold a bag of goods, and I think those people changed after they got into office.
00:05:00.520 And just to clarify, are you saying that Pierre Molien is the far right?
00:05:06.360 I'm saying that he wants to cash in on the far right.
00:05:08.860 I'm not saying he is the far right, I think he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.
00:05:12.660 I don't think he really gives a damn about us.
00:05:15.360 So, if he did, he would get in line and he would defend Canada.
00:05:19.500 And even though he's yelling, I think that's just propaganda.
00:05:22.700 So, what does it mean to be a fascist?
00:05:24.700 It means to be a right-wing authoritarian leader who has a disdain for democratic norms
00:05:31.200 and likes to scapegoat various minority groups who you claim are causing the country's problems.
00:05:36.320 I'm thinking about voting for Mark Carney and the Liberals this time around.
00:05:40.320 He has worked not only in the Bank of Canada, he's also worked at the Bank of England.
00:05:44.660 He has very good international ties.
00:05:47.520 I think that I just saw him the other day meeting with the leaders of France and the UK,
00:05:51.760 and it's just such a difference, because he can actually get along with people.
00:05:55.060 He doesn't go and attack them like Trump did with Zelensky or with us, for example.
00:05:59.480 Typically, I'm an NDP supporter, but the stakes in this election are just so high,
00:06:04.280 and I don't want to even take a slight risk of having Trump in the White House
00:06:08.980 and then having Pierre Polyev here doing whatever Trump wants.
00:06:12.180 Of all the federal leaders, he would be the one most willing to roll over for Donald Trump,
00:06:16.980 because he's made his whole image and brand off of a Donald Trump-type negativity and divisive politics,
00:06:23.120 and he's trying hard to rebrand himself now and pretend like he's Captain Canada,
00:06:28.040 but that only started when Trump got into office and Canadians turned against him really fast.
00:06:34.080 So, I think that Pierre Polyev would be terrible for our country.
00:06:38.180 I drove today for four hours to attend this function as a sign of solidarity, actually,
00:06:45.480 between our American friends, that we've been friends with for decades, and ourselves.
00:06:52.420 And this invitation goes to all Kamala Harris and Tim Walz voters,
00:06:57.340 but also to anyone who's feeling remorse for having voted for Donald and not getting what they thought they were getting,
00:07:04.140 cheaper eggs. Instead, they're getting fascism, almost, dictatorship.
00:07:08.440 What you guys are going through has solidified our resolve to never let that happen up here.
00:07:15.280 Mr. Carney, first of all, is funny. He is a seasoned professional with regard to finance. He has a career. He is world-renowned.
00:07:26.800 He's pretty elegant and dignified looking on a world stage. And I think he will be able to combat the current Oval Office
00:07:35.100 holder in a more intellectual way than his opposition.
00:07:41.940 I think that Mr. Polyev has been way too familiar with, actually, word for word in different videos. You will hear his words reflected by Trump's words and vice versa.
00:07:52.000 So, that's quite terrifying. It might have empowered him at one time, but the way that this presidency is actually working out,
00:08:01.300 Apples up, is not helping Mr. Polyev at all.
00:08:05.640 I'm a Canadian citizen who has lived in the U.S. before, so I'm very knowledgeable about what it's like down there.
00:08:12.260 The United States does not share our values. They've turned, you know, diversity, equity, inclusion into a slur.
00:08:18.260 In Canada, it's part of our values. It's important for people of all backgrounds, all ethnicities, to be able to be welcome, to have the same opportunities so that they can thrive.
00:08:26.960 And so, I guess I'm here just to say that there is no Canadian, no real Canadian that wants to be an American, right?
00:08:34.820 We're proud of our country, we're proud of our values, and we'll fight for them.
00:08:37.620 I was an NDP supporter for over a decade. When I heard that Conservatives were going to be registering for the Liberal leadership race, I resigned my NDP.
00:08:46.320 I registered as a Liberal and now I'm behind Mark Kearney.
00:08:49.320 So, despite this being billed as a Canada unity protest against America, I haven't talked to a single person who had a positive thing to say about Pierre Polyev.
00:09:01.020 There's a lot of left-wing voters here. Some of them are historically NDP supporters, but are saying they will be supporting Mark Kearney in the next federal election because the stakes are too high.
