00:00:00.000 Our guest today is Elizabeth Nixon, a researcher, journalist. You've read her terrific work
00:00:11.200 in everything from The Wall Street Journal to Time to The Globe. She's a published author.
00:00:17.000 She joins us now from Salt Spring Island in British Columbia. Welcome, Elizabeth.
00:00:22.340 Thank you for having me.
00:00:24.280 Let's talk about the forest fires. I know this is an issue that is near and dear to your heart.
00:00:28.960 uh many of these fires were started intentionally and you believe there's a
00:00:34.380 there are nefarious reasons behind them not just accidental starts or even people who are starting
00:00:42.840 them intentionally there's you feel that there's a conspiracy behind the reason why this is
00:00:49.100 happening is that fair um i i guess i would i would call it a conspiracy in which most players
00:00:56.780 are unconscious. The fires are caused by something called natural management of our forests. This is
00:01:05.900 throughout the world, under directives from the United Nations. My parents were friends with
00:01:12.920 Bob Rogers, who is head of Crown Zellerback and a left-handed governor in British Columbia. He
00:01:19.040 told me once, you know, we used to pull up the stumps and we used to burn them. We take the
00:01:25.800 deadfall out of the creeks and burn it clear cuts or fire breaks he said and they stopped us doing
00:01:33.480 all of that so what natural regulation means is that um all the trees who all the seeds that fall
00:01:42.620 are allowed to grow so it's like a whole bunch of little carrots growing up in every forest in the
00:01:49.060 world. They are not thinned. They pull all the water from the aquifers beneath. They desiccate
00:01:55.640 because there's not enough water, and then they become fire ladders. It's just that the forests
00:02:01.960 are filled with tinder. So all you need is a lightning strike or a stupid malignant kid
00:02:08.620 to start a fire, and you've got a conflagration. So when I wrote Ecofascists, I worked with
00:02:15.800 people in the U.S. Forest Service who had documented this over many, many years, and they are afraid,
00:02:23.480 or were afraid at the time, because it's already happened, that these things cause these massive
00:02:29.180 canopy fires, which are unstoppable. And this is now happening all over the world, and it has
00:02:36.780 one origin. It's the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. I am not
00:02:43.140 the only one saying this i've spent time with foresters in northern california and all through
00:02:49.640 british columbia and they say the same thing we're not allowed to manage our forests for fire
00:02:55.640 okay that's what's happening so when trump was complaining because of these massive clouds of
00:03:04.220 smoke coming south during the fifa world cup and pointing at canada and saying you've got to do
00:03:10.800 this, and now we're going to subject you to tariffs as a result, or you need to pay us
00:03:16.040 reparations, something along those lines. Do you think he had a point there? Did he have...
00:03:22.400 He's absolutely right. He's absolutely right. Nobody in government cannot know this at this
00:03:28.820 point. Everybody has been talking about it. What happened when Trump took power was the Department
00:03:34.980 of the interior in the red states immediately went into the forest and started clearing
00:03:42.180 the deadfall and the fire ladders off the tree. So if you look at a map, the fires are in Washington
00:03:49.560 State, Oregon, and California, where the Democrats will not allow the forest to be tended. And all
00:03:56.180 of the interior, where they're red states, those fires have now been dampened. Those fires are
00:04:02.560 cause deliberately. And the Carney government likes it because they can preach climate change.
00:04:09.100 It's not climate change. It's mismanagement. And Trump knows this because the U.S. Forest Service
00:04:15.420 has known this for 20 years, ever since the spotted owl started it. And so it just grew
00:04:24.140 and grew and grew. And that's what we have. I mean, Trump is right. Carney is wrong.
00:04:31.800 and he knows he's wrong. And this is my, the theory that I'm working on for my follow-up book
00:04:37.940 to Ecofascists. What happens to these burned over areas that they become very cheap and people can
00:04:46.120 buy them. They can put them in a land bank and then they can be used as ecosystem services
00:04:53.260 and carbon capture and they can be monetized. And so the big hedge funds, the big conservation
00:05:00.340 organizations are working with the hedge funds and the banks in order to take that land out of
00:05:07.060 production where people can actually make money from it and put it into their banks and make
00:05:13.900 money and trade it that that's what's happening to our forests and is that what happened with
00:05:19.160 the palisades fire in california in hawaii yes um that was partly water management also because
00:05:28.360 they don't tend any of the brush because they let let the brush run wild so as you know in
00:05:34.840 desertified landscapes brush becomes it's just like it's it's tinder it's tinder so you just
00:05:41.420 need one stupid kid or a lightning strike and the whole hillside goes up but also they have
00:05:48.600 emptied the reservoirs this is another united nations directive that all the snowpack water
00:05:55.360 must run through all the rivers to the ocean and when it goes to the ocean it is not used for
00:06:02.120 irrigation for crops it's not stored for um you know livestock or for fire prevention and
00:06:10.720 so that so both the reservoirs in the palisades and in lahaina were empty because the uh you're
00:06:19.720 not supposed to store water anymore the environmental movement under the direction
00:06:24.460 of the united nations has taken out 1200 significant dams through the american west and
00:06:31.420 all through canada in order to send all that water to the ocean so we all this drought that
00:06:38.060 we hear about it's artificial it's manufactured so this is disaster capitalism by the massive
00:06:45.740 hedge funds and the the black rocks of the world yes is that what's going on here these people are
00:06:52.780 are in cahoots with the UN and the left, the globalists, to actually create conditions under
00:07:00.780 which these fires wreak havoc, way more havoc than they should. And I think we saw that in
00:07:06.600 Canada at the Jasper fire, where some suggest that the feds were behind a move not to do any
00:07:15.180 forest management ahead of that fire in Alberta a couple of years back, a few years back. And so
00:07:21.960 all of this sounds like a massive conspiracy in which certain people stand to gain billions of
00:07:30.560 dollars and this whole net zero climate change agenda is pushed. In other words, you create the
00:07:38.460 very conditions that you, you know, fear monger over. Yeah, exactly. It's a brilliant plan. I mean,
00:07:47.300 you have to admit, it's pure genius. It's also purely evil. What happens to forested towns
00:07:55.800 when this happens is that they are gutted of income. So these towns start to die. So in my
00:08:03.460 book, Ecofascists, I argue that 14 million people have been driven out of the country into the sort
00:08:10.120 of mega cities. And a lot of the homeless people that you see on the streets, their lives have been
00:08:16.520 ruined by this this junta of bankers and conservation outfits and the united nations
00:08:24.920 and the world economic forum i mean it it sounds preposterous but i've been thinking and writing
00:08:31.080 about this um i i lived in new york and london and paris for almost 20 years and when i came
00:08:38.920 back to canada this was the thing that sort of slapped me in the face that i thought oh god
00:08:44.520 boring forests and trees and fish and and and then this this is this is uh truly monstrous
00:08:52.520 and easily fixed easily fixed yeah so all we need is awareness of it we used to manage the forests
00:09:02.120 and there were burns but they were controllable and they were expected i mean you have you know
00:09:07.560 these if you're talking about old old forests they're going to burn in order to make way for
00:09:11.960 for new forests and going on for, you know, forever.
00:09:16.660 Yeah, I mean, yes, exactly.
00:09:19.920 I mean, silviculture was a magnificent science
00:09:24.720 and it's just all been wiped off the map and junked.
00:09:30.680 Yeah.
00:09:31.520 I mean, there are all sorts of these types of conspiracies.
00:09:36.280 I mean, we're looking at now the migrant disaster
00:09:40.000 just took place of these swarms of people uh invading spain from north africa and on one hand
00:09:50.880 you have governments saying oh well you know we have to do something to protect our people but
00:09:54.880 on the other hand they're inviting them in you know the very people that you elect that you think
00:10:00.080 are looking after the interests of your country and i think the same thing certainly applies in
00:10:05.440 in canada with with the carney government yesterday yes played a clip of carney laughing
00:10:11.040 as he was suggesting that he was you know looking to make the lives of canadians better i mean
00:10:16.640 this guy couldn't keep it in you know he knew that what was coming out of his mouth was such
00:10:21.760 a colossal lie that he couldn't even keep from laughing himself you know and uh i think people
00:10:28.560 have to realize that there's a that these people are out there and unfortunately there's so many
00:10:34.880 gullible voters out there who seem to just say yeah they seem this person seems normal
00:10:40.160 and they're not the con artist grifters uh that end up undermining our country and our society
00:10:47.360 what do people do about all of this do you think well one of the one of the things that i write
00:10:52.320 about um and i noticed that very few other people are writing about yet is that people under 40
00:10:59.920 especially in britain it started in britain where people young men and women and it's the you can
00:11:07.120 see them on the streets every every week and you they've been on the streets in britain for
00:11:12.800 a year more than a year they're under 40 they're healthy they're strong they're not um the educated
00:11:20.960 class so much as if they are the working uh working class but they are the actual working
00:11:26.560 class they're not the not the revolutionaries they're the people that are saying no this has
00:11:32.120 to stop we're going to turn it back we want re-migration re-migration now we want the
00:11:38.720 government to change and they have enormous power there are millions of millions of them all through
00:11:46.340 europe who are saying this stops now and we we don't we don't i'm not seeing that happen
00:11:55.100 in Canada. It's certainly the energy that forced the Trump revolution, the people who are behind
00:12:02.520 Trump. They're all the people that I met when I was researching eco-fascists. I drove 20,000
00:12:10.080 miles through the U.S. and I talked to rural people and they, you know, they're kind of a
00:12:17.860 throwback in the sense that they're healthy and strong. They're reality-based. They're, you know,
00:12:23.220 they're based and they can see the fixes in their hometowns that need to be done they're standing up
00:12:31.280 they're running for office they're running for office all the way up and down the line and it
00:12:37.320 is an enormously positive in movement that I don't know why I'm the only one tracking it it's
00:12:45.160 partly because I think there's an anti-migrant thing. It's an anti-black culture. It's saying
00:12:55.140 white culture is better. We work. We're disciplined. We stay with our families. We
00:13:00.280 don't do drugs. We don't do crime. We don't do violence. So there's a lot of
00:13:05.960 rebuilding of the original ethic that founded the West. And I mean, even when I'm talking about
00:13:17.180 that now, I can see where people would be sort of think, oh, my God, she's anti-Black. And it's
00:13:25.600 not that. It's that our culture that we've built over the last 2,000 years is successful for a
00:13:33.040 reason it must be continued it must be supported and what's happening in in um in everything is a
00:13:42.160 breakdown of that so these and these kids don't care they don't care if they're called racist they
00:13:47.320 say we want our country back we want our educational system back we want our professions
00:13:52.520 we back we want our country back we want to make our decisions this is not an international country
00:13:58.700 this is britain this is scotland this is ireland this is canada it's not some great international
00:14:06.700 um festival of theft which seems to be what what they're seeing so i'm really i'm super hopeful
00:14:15.500 i'm super excited about it i wish i wasn't the only one writing about it right now but i i don't
00:14:21.580 think it'll be for long and now of course uh i was speaking about this earlier the fact that
00:14:28.060 the carny government's taking god out of military ceremonies to me this is another symptom of it
00:14:33.100 right yeah the armed force is now ordered to ordering its chaplains to stop mentioning god
00:14:41.660 and refer to this spiritual reflection instead is this just another symptom of the kind of
00:14:47.260 cultural attack that you see happening yeah it's um it's through every sector uh it's a kind of um
00:14:55.580 it's a replacement of old values with a new set of values that the elite forces on everybody
00:15:04.800 and people are just refusing it they're more practicing Christians now than there ever
00:15:13.960 have been in America more people are going to church more people are going back to church
00:15:19.360 More people are going back to the Christian God and rejecting all this, what theologians call syncretism, all the New Age stuff.
00:15:32.840 It's a fantastic cultural renewal, but it's happening principally under 40s, under 45.
00:15:43.660 It's the kids who are saying, we're not going to live like this.
00:15:47.460 We're not going to bring our children up in this. It's corrupt. It's decadent. It's disgusting.
00:15:53.780 And so many of these people have associations with really terrible cults, as we've come to realize.
00:16:03.400 How do people find you online if they want to follow you or read more of your work?
00:16:08.760 Well, I have a subset called Welcome to Absurdistan, which is quite popular.
