00:00:00.000 so jobs out there 100% that are the same job and yet one like a man will be paid
00:00:06.600 more and a woman will be paid less name one name one I worked in one if you want
00:00:14.640 to know what was the job well I was a lifeguard okay um so um when you when
00:00:19.980 you were applying for the job did you apply for the job like on a job board
00:00:23.520 like indeed or something like that no I had worked as a lifeguard for three
00:00:27.840 years and then I switched working place and then I learned that the person that
00:00:32.460 had less experience than me he was the man he earned about three quid more anyway
00:00:39.180 and did you ask when you see lifeguard that's that's a very nice example
00:00:44.640 because I would think that the point I try to make anyways is when you apply for
00:00:50.700 any job role is there do you see what like if you say you want to become a
00:00:55.380 lifeguard for instance and you see it on indeed do you see lifeguard role women's
00:00:59.940 salary 10 pounds an hour men's salary 15 pounds an hour or do you see lifeguard
00:01:04.320 role 10 pounds an hour and whoever gets hired gets that salary it usually says
00:01:08.940 from depending on experience or something like that well okay then then that would
00:01:13.680 come to negotiation power that has nothing to do with sexism well my other
00:01:17.100 question is why don't we talk about women models get paid more than male models
00:01:20.760 where is everyone where is the marches where the inequality right the demand causes the cost so
00:01:26.940 the reason why that women and it works the other way around too so the reason why
00:01:30.420 women don't tend to be in male dominated industries as much it's just because
00:01:34.320 it's unpleasant it's same for the reason why men don't women women don't want to do
00:01:38.700 hard jobs no okay do you think a veterinarian is a hard job double the amount of female veterinarians
00:01:45.180 i mean you can find some niche like you can find some niche fringe thing but it's like wait but but
00:01:52.620 the number one employers of women is it's teachers and nurses yes because that's how it's always been
00:01:58.080 and you're right correct my point is the hardest jobs the ones that have the most workplace deaths
00:02:05.040 men do them so it makes sense that they're paid you're defining hard by simply are you
00:02:11.000 more likely to die which is a rather daft way to define hard you know i base that on intellect
00:02:17.480 i mean you don't think a job is harder to do if you might die doing it to be fair you can die if
00:02:25.020 you work in a hospital to be fair you might catch something i mean you can but it's not as likely
00:02:29.420 as i as some of the jobs that men do
00:02:32.520 they're pretty unpredictable what percent let's go into vets what percent of um vets are women
00:02:37.820 double okay what percent 60 okay so it's 60 percent it's so it's still close to 50
00:02:44.200 no it's no it's over 60 percent i said double so it's like a third it's like two thirds to a third
00:02:51.420 i just was expecting like because in the industries i mentioned it's like 95 percent men
00:02:56.160 it's not close to 50 50 you don't think that two thirds of veterinarians i don't i don't think
00:03:01.940 that's the same as 95 i think men have been working for a lot longer than women i mean so
00:03:06.620 i think women are still trying to come into their fields you know there's some women that are still
00:03:10.900 reliant on men some women are still reliant on their parents even you know there's women that are in
00:03:14.960 their 20s and they're still reliant on i think that's just an excuse if you're born today you have
00:03:19.100 no barriers there are absolutely that's fine but in regards to like trying to move up and trying to get
00:03:24.140 further in your career not just get into a career entry level it can be difficult quotas they
00:03:29.160 literally pay companies to hire women but do you realize the older generations haven't died yet so
00:03:34.280 you're going to need to give it a couple generations before we can actually judge anything so there's
00:03:38.040 going to be more older people that do those jobs that's just such a cop-out the older generation wants
00:03:44.060 to make money if you're telling me you tell a 55 year old dude you get money to hire women you don't
00:03:50.460 think he's going to hire more women no that that's not what i mean i mean until the older generation
00:03:55.040 have died where there is still inequality because obviously if you're going past 60 years old
00:03:59.540 all those women that are that old still have the same mindset that they had because they didn't
00:04:04.200 have those options from what from what era like how old are you talking like my like my mom's
00:04:08.900 the equal pay gap the equal pay act was it was in 1964 i'm talking about opportunities from going
00:04:15.680 to university so 1963 was the equal it's been illegal it is illegal to pay women less than men
00:04:22.200 this young lady's already given an example that she's been underpaid so this was before this was
00:04:27.580 after the 60s lifeguard job it's still a job and it's still an example that's valid
00:04:32.100 can i ask other examples can i ask it's access to education and i have examples and i have examples
00:04:38.600 where i've paid more like than a guy could i could i just ask what did you say you're a doctor right
00:04:44.460 yeah what is your stance on this and especially in the hospital like because obviously we're talking
00:04:52.300 about nurses and etc so i just wanted to know what you it's it's difficult i mean you know clearly the
00:04:59.080 majority of doctors at the moment are male that's mainly because of the older generations the majority
00:05:03.160 of medical students and young doctors are female sort of switched around and that part of that's
00:05:08.280 part of the reason this is so complicated is because we're often measuring people of different
00:05:11.820 generations so i honestly don't know i think probably from anecdotes from my own experience from my
00:05:18.660 reading of the data that there are ways that women get screwed over in the job market than men the men
00:05:23.460 don't there'll be some the other way around i don't know who is worse off overall and i it's almost a red
00:05:28.740 herring because the question was does this mean that men can't have an opinion on abortion
00:05:32.280 what do you think of that do you think so so i think you know there's so many things to say about
00:05:40.100 this one was i used to be a fetus which i think is important one is i might have my own kids one day
00:05:45.580 you know this fetus some of the fetuses might be mine hopefully not that many because i only have one
00:05:49.980 wife who's next to me um what i really think is you know when we think about justice and when we think
00:05:55.980 about having a community that works together and a society that functions we have to have men and
00:06:00.420 women talking to each other giving their best to each other and working in harmony right so
00:06:06.460 take an example emma watson's campaign he for she that was basically saying for women's equality
00:06:12.300 we cannot just do this with women alone men have to use whatever platform they might have
00:06:17.560 we can debate whether they have it whatever privilege they might have men have to use it to fight
00:06:22.440 for equality now the way i think that links to abortion is firstly that i think the pro-life view
00:06:28.600 is about equality for the child as well saying the child has an equal right to life so everyone has a
00:06:33.560 duty to fight for that but at the same time what what really gets me about this is think about
00:06:38.840 before abortion was legalized if a man gets a woman pregnant the likelihood is they get married
00:06:45.480 suddenly some of those marriages don't work out i admit but many of them do the man provides for the
00:06:50.440 child the man provides for the woman and the man has that sense of responsibility now what happens
00:06:55.080 when abortion is legal the man can suddenly have sex with whoever he wants and when she gets pregnant
00:07:01.160 he says it's your body it's your choice and therefore it's your responsibility and your burden
00:07:07.160 and so what is meant to be a burden shared by a father and the mother equally has become something
00:07:12.840 that is just on the mother now because the man says this is a woman's issue this is your body this is
00:07:17.080 your choice so all of those women who think okay now i'm pregnant some of them will have an abortion
00:07:22.040 okay many of them don't want to have an abortion even if it's not planned even if it's not wanted
00:07:26.520 many of the women don't want to have an abortion because they disagree with it because they don't want
00:07:29.640 to go through the trauma of it whatever reason and now they're faced with a man who says it's your
00:07:35.160 body it's your choice this is your issue i'm having nothing to do with it that is why i think
00:07:40.360 portraying it as a woman's only issue is harmful to women themselves because this was a job
00:07:45.400 that is for a man and a woman to do together in partnership and why wouldn't you want the like
00:07:53.160 joint like to be strong together and get through things together even if you don't want to be with
00:07:58.920 that man that man is still the reason you are in this situation exactly you have done it together
00:08:06.280 it's not his fault it's not your fault it's together both of you have made that decision
00:08:13.560 both of you you should be together through the decision and i think if if a guy goes i don't
00:08:21.640 want anything to do with it then it's a different situation but why wouldn't you want to even just
00:08:28.520 have that kind of extra bit of strength that you need to get through this so can i pull up on that so
00:08:36.040 so one of the kind of arguments for abortion originally was it's going to get rid of single motherhood
00:08:40.920 because we have all these women who you know get pregnant the man has abandoned them they can just
00:08:44.680 have an abortion now but what actually happened is that when abortion was legalized single motherhood
00:08:49.160 skyrocketed because of this dynamic because men still got women pregnant they got more women pregnant
00:08:54.760 and then they just pissed off and so what you actually saw was so many more women get into
00:09:00.360 single motherhood which has economic costs it has relational costs it has costs of your time your
00:09:05.720 resources any costs you can imagine we know how difficult parenthood is or many of us do i
00:09:10.920 don't know exactly because i'm not one yet um but parenthood is difficult and what happened when
00:09:15.800 abortion was legalized was that all the cost of parenthood went on to mothers because the man said
00:09:20.360 this is your issue and so i think abortion actually has made things worse and there's good evidence for
00:09:25.320 this you know the the poverty in the united states was going to be eliminated before 1970 it was on a
00:09:30.920 downward trend for decades and decades they were going to stop poverty in america a noble prize
00:09:35.560 winning economist george ackerloff wrote a paper in an economic journal and he said since 1970 when
00:09:40.920 abortion was legalized and he's pro-choice he said since that time the feminization of poverty has begun
00:09:47.720 more women have gone into poverty more ethnic minorities have gone into poverty more children have
00:09:51.960 gone into poverty because of this dynamic and so you know we can say that abortion is liberating for
00:09:57.960 women that it allows women to pursue their careers and have more money the reality is it's the poorest
00:10:02.200 women who have suffered from this because they have been the ones who have had to shoulder the burden
00:10:06.440 of the absent men and that was caused by abortion if you know according to the statistic
00:10:11.960 and and you know you made some really good points and i think you sound like a really good guy
00:10:17.240 you know and that's probably why you have you know this opinion but you know not every not every guy is
00:10:22.600 like you yeah not every guy has that um some guys will say yeah let's do this let's do this i'll be
00:10:30.360 with you and then two three years down the line they're gone there's been terrible men and terrible
00:10:36.840 mothers since the dawn of time like men have abandoned women since the year dots this isn't a new thing
