00:00:00.000 It's the KinsellaCast, starring Warren Kinsella.
00:00:18.540 Hey, it's Warren. Welcome to KinsellaCast on a snowy weekend.
00:00:23.280 After another week in which absolutely nothing has happened of political or economic consequence,
00:00:29.460 it's super boring. Well, you know, that's not true. It's crazy. It's nuts.
00:00:38.460 And so we're going to try and make sense of it on this week's podcast with Tasha Carradine
00:00:44.200 and Brian Lilly and Carl Belanger and Ben Moroni and Anthony Koch.
00:00:48.800 And E! E! returns at her request, and also mine, to talk about some important stuff.
00:00:58.220 And it's going to be a good show, and I've got good music.
00:01:01.660 I've got... I was thinking about Lux Interior, who's passed away some years ago,
00:01:10.560 lead singer of the Cramps, who I loved.
00:01:13.860 And one day I'll tell you guys about the story of how my legs, head...
00:01:22.480 Anyway, it's weird. Lux Interior and I. It's a story.
00:01:27.980 And Nick Knox, the drummer, and it's a story. It's embarrassing.
00:01:32.180 Surfboard, who's kind of in that crampsy vein, with a song that's unusually poppy for them,
00:01:39.600 because usually they're total maniacs. Open your eyes.
00:01:42.600 Upchuck. Good band name. That's what they used to say about my band, Social Blemishes.
00:01:48.720 Big Boys, with kind of a bluesy... I don't know, it's just like chugga-chugga. I dug it.
00:01:54.220 And Wet Look, with their song Impostor, it just came out a few days ago.
00:02:00.060 This is super poppy for me. It's super rock and roll.
00:02:03.680 Weird, I know. Yes. But I liked it.
00:02:06.820 So, here it is, on the show.
00:02:09.840 So, it's a good one.
00:02:10.840 And I think we now know why the Tories won an election right away.
00:02:16.660 At the start of 2025, which seems like a million years ago, when Justin Trudeau was still in charge,
00:02:23.440 Angus Reid Institute reported that the Pierre-Paulievre Conservatives were at 45% support nationally,
00:02:31.560 and the Trudeau Liberals were down to 16%.
00:02:35.880 Back then, other pollsters showed nearly the same thing.
00:02:40.660 Nanos put the Tory lead at 23%.
00:02:42.920 Research companies said it was 26%.
00:02:46.040 And then, in the first week of January, Trudeau finally got the message,
00:02:50.500 and he announced he was quitting at the start of March.
00:02:53.040 And the polls didn't meaningfully change at that point.
00:02:55.820 I think some people expected them to.
00:02:58.320 But I did not.
00:02:59.720 Gretchen people did not.
00:03:01.920 As those of us who worked for Canada's best prime minister,
00:03:05.880 it was very familiar.
00:03:07.280 Like, Kim Campbell won her party's leadership in June of 93,
00:03:12.240 succeeding the very unpopular Brian Mulroney.
00:03:15.700 And for months, we had been ahead, sometimes, like Polly Ev, by as much as 30 percentage points.
00:03:22.720 And that continued throughout their leadership.
00:03:25.660 But as soon as the Tories selected Campbell, the bottom started to fall out.
00:03:29.920 Under Campbell, the progressive Conservatives, as they were then known, surged ahead.
00:03:34.940 And by the time the Canada Day weekend rolled around,
00:03:38.140 Campbell had become one of the most popular prime ministers in history.
00:03:41.560 So what happened?
00:03:42.480 A few things.
00:03:44.100 As in politics, you never win or lose because of one thing.
00:03:48.740 Gretchen ran a superior campaign in the fall of 93.
00:03:52.700 And Campbell was inexperienced and undisciplined.
00:03:55.880 And the Tory campaign also ran an ad mocking Gretchen's facial paralysis.
00:04:00.760 Bit of a mistake.
00:04:02.280 Mostly, however, Campbell and her party lost because they'd been in power for almost a decade.
00:04:08.040 People want to change.
00:04:09.700 So I think it's dangerous right now to suggest, as some giddy liberals are now doing,
00:04:15.860 that they could somehow snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
00:04:19.220 Like under Mark Carney, they're telling themselves perhaps a fourth consecutive liberal win is possible.
00:04:26.080 The reason they're making such wild claims is, again, the polls.
00:04:31.440 Since the race to replace Trudeau officially kicked off at the end of January,
00:04:36.540 the effectively leaderless Liberal Party of Canada has been narrowing the once massive conservative lead.
00:04:43.200 Just about every new poll shows, particularly in Vote Rich Ontario,
00:04:47.860 where the Grits have maintained a bit of a lead for weeks now.
00:04:52.420 So this 30-point lead that Polyev had?
00:04:55.940 It's a memory.
00:04:56.880 How come?
00:04:57.580 Three reasons.
00:04:58.840 Number one.
00:05:00.280 Only a fool or a hardcore Tory partisan would have believed that they dominated in the polls
00:05:06.980 because Canadians all loved Pierre Polyev.
00:05:11.340 They didn't.
00:05:11.880 It was because they'd grown to hate Trudeau.
00:05:15.940 With him going and almost gone, a lot of vote anger has gone too.
00:05:21.240 Number two.
00:05:22.780 The Liberal leadership race has generated some surprisingly respectable interest.
00:05:28.740 Carney, Christopher Freeland, Karina Gold, Frank Bayliss.
00:05:33.020 For a party as unpopular as the Liberals once were,
00:05:37.160 attracting big names is an achievement.
00:05:39.420 Their race has erased media coverage of Polyev and his party too.
00:05:45.540 But the third reason for the shift, the main reason,
00:05:48.420 has nothing to do with Polyev or Carney or Freeland or anybody else in Canada.
00:05:52.980 It's because of an American, Donald Trump.
00:05:56.080 You don't need to analyze the polls, guys, to know it's true.
00:06:00.140 You just need to head down to your local Tim's and listen and take the pulse of the nation.
00:06:05.520 Since the newly returned U.S. President has started attacking Canada,
00:06:10.800 saying he wants to make us a 51st state,
00:06:13.900 saying we offer nothing of value to America,
00:06:16.920 saying that he wants to use force against us,
00:06:19.160 saying he wants to slap crippling tariffs on our goods and still might,
00:06:23.580 Canadians have revealed a deep and visceral loathing of the 47th U.S. President.
00:06:29.980 No American leader is as hated as Trump now is among Canadians.
00:06:36.480 And that, mostly, I think, is why Polyev and his party should stop assuming a huge victory is in the bag.
00:06:43.640 It ain't. Not by a long shot.
00:06:46.480 One poll released Friday morning should make the blue Tory blood run cold.
00:06:51.320 Nanos, which just a few weeks ago, remember, had Polyev pegged at a 23-point lead,
00:06:57.400 now shows a significant majority of Canadians prefer the future liberal leader, Carney,
00:07:03.980 to lead the fight against Trump.
00:07:06.460 Nearly 40% of them believe Carney's better to deal with Trump,
00:07:11.060 ahead of Polyev by 14 points.
00:07:14.060 The Globe speculated that Carney's lead was because he was in charge of the Bank of Canada
00:07:20.500 and the Bank of England and all that stuff, but that's not it.
00:07:23.820 The main reason why Polyev's lead is slipping away is this.
00:07:28.120 Canadians know that not every Canadian conservative is a Trump fan,
00:07:34.380 but they suspect, correctly, that every Canadian Trump fan is a conservative.
00:07:40.720 Donald Trump has become an existential threat to this country.
00:07:48.020 Canadians want to be led by someone who will fight him,
00:07:51.740 not someone who they believe secretly wants to join him.
00:08:10.720 Well, I'm a human fly.
00:08:32.060 I said L-O-I
00:08:34.160 I said B-B-B-B-B-R
00:08:36.180 And it's just because
00:08:38.300 I'm a human fly
00:08:40.140 And I don't know why
00:08:42.120 I got 96 tears
00:08:44.520 96 eyes
00:08:46.060 I got a garbage frame
00:08:48.280 That's driving me insane
00:08:50.180 And I don't like the ride
00:08:52.180 So push that mess to the side
00:08:54.140 And baby, I won't care
00:08:56.080 Cause baby, I don't scare
00:08:58.060 Cause I'm a rebound maggot
00:09:00.320 Using Jim Wall to fail
00:09:02.320 Rock
00:09:26.320 I am a evening fly
00:09:28.320 I still feel why
00:09:30.320 I say buss
00:09:32.320 And it's just me close
00:09:34.320 I'm a unzipped fly
00:09:36.320 And I don't know why
00:09:38.320 And I don't know why
00:09:40.320 But I say
00:09:44.320 Rock tonight
00:09:46.320 And I say
00:09:48.320 Rock it right
00:09:50.320 And I say
00:09:52.320 But I don't know why
00:09:54.320 I just
00:09:56.320 Don't know why
00:09:58.320 And we're back
00:10:06.320 And we're back with Brian Lilly
00:10:08.320 And Brian is about to become
00:10:10.320 really rich
00:10:12.320 by churning out merch
00:10:14.320 with his most famous slogan
00:10:16.320 about politics
00:10:18.320 I am now going to ask Brian
00:10:20.320 to remind people
00:10:21.320 about his slogan
00:10:22.320 What is it Brian?
00:10:24.320 They're going to be
00:10:25.320 fed up hearing it
00:10:26.320 but it's accurate
00:10:28.320 Voters are fickle
00:10:29.320 Fools change
00:10:30.320 Campaigns matter
00:10:32.320 And then I would just add to that
00:10:34.320 the old hackneyed saying
00:10:36.320 always attributed to
00:10:38.320 British Prime Minister McMillan
00:10:40.320 What are you most afraid of?
00:10:42.320 Events dear boy
00:10:43.320 Events
00:10:44.320 Because events
00:10:45.320 change things
00:10:46.320 And that's why
00:10:47.320 Voters are fickle
00:10:48.320 Polls can change in campaigns
00:10:49.320 Tell us why
00:10:50.320 Tell us what has changed
00:10:51.320 and why it has changed
00:10:53.320 Well
00:10:54.320 Liberals shouldn't get
00:10:55.320 too excited
00:10:56.320 because
00:10:57.320 you know
00:10:58.320 the polling firms
00:10:59.320 that I follow
00:11:00.320 have noticed
00:11:01.320 a tightening
00:11:02.320 they've noticed
00:11:03.320 the Liberals
00:11:04.320 moving up
00:11:05.320 but it's still
00:11:06.320 a pretty decent lead
00:11:08.320 for the Conservatives
00:11:09.320 Ipsos has still
00:11:11.320 a 13 point
00:11:13.320 yeah
00:11:14.320 a 13 point lead
00:11:15.320 for the Conservatives
00:11:16.320 Abacus data
00:11:17.320 David Toledo
00:11:18.320 posting on X
00:11:19.320 over the weekend
00:11:20.320 saying that
00:11:21.320 they're starting
00:11:22.320 to see change
00:11:23.320 you know
00:11:24.320 Ipsos had a 26 point lead
00:11:26.320 for the Conservatives
00:11:27.320 back in
00:11:28.320 January 7th
00:11:29.320 that was
00:11:30.320 the day after
00:11:32.320 Trudeau quit
00:11:33.320 they had them 46 to 20
00:11:36.320 now it's 41 to 28
00:11:38.320 look I never believed
00:11:40.320 the really highs
00:11:41.320 and I never believed
00:11:42.320 the really lows
00:11:43.320 until you see a pattern
00:11:45.320 I never thought
00:11:46.320 that it was
00:11:47.320 an actual 26 point lead
00:11:49.320 that would hold
00:11:50.320 so 13 point lead
00:11:52.320 is still significant
00:11:53.320 but are the Liberals
00:11:54.320 coming up?
00:11:55.320 Sure.
00:11:56.320 Now is it a
00:11:57.320 1.9 point gap
00:11:59.320 the way
00:12:00.320 some pollsters
00:12:01.320 are claiming?
00:12:02.320 No.
00:12:03.320 And of course
00:12:05.320 these are from polling firms
00:12:06.320 that if I was
00:12:07.320 staring at the same clock
00:12:08.320 as the guy leading it
00:12:10.320 and we were both
00:12:12.320 looking at the times
00:12:13.320 and he said it out loud
00:12:15.320 I'd double check.
00:12:17.320 Now tell us why
00:12:19.320 so whether
00:12:21.320 you know
00:12:22.320 the Liberals
00:12:23.320 have dramatically
00:12:25.320 moved up
00:12:26.320 or a little bit
00:12:27.320 moved up
00:12:28.320 it seems like
00:12:29.320 across the board
00:12:30.320 as you point out
00:12:32.320 with your
00:12:33.320 now
00:12:34.320 famous slogan
00:12:35.320 that you know
00:12:36.320 voters are fickle
00:12:37.320 and polls change
00:12:38.320 so they're changing
00:12:40.320 why do you think that is?
00:12:42.320 Well Trudeau's gone
00:12:45.320 that was the first event
00:12:46.320 and
00:12:47.320 Donald Trump is
00:12:48.320 is threatening
00:12:50.320 Canada
00:12:51.320 51st
00:12:52.320 state discussion
00:12:53.320 and all that
00:12:54.320 and we all heard
00:12:55.320 that hot mic moment
00:12:56.320 that I think Trudeau wanted
00:12:57.320 to get out the other day
00:12:59.320 I don't think that was
00:13:00.320 an accident at all
00:13:03.320 where he's
00:13:05.320 he was at an event
00:13:06.320 with business leaders
00:13:07.320 and labor leaders
00:13:08.320 and politicians
00:13:10.320 and they're talking about
00:13:11.320 how to respond
00:13:12.320 and he's
00:13:13.320 he said on the hot mic
00:13:14.320 that this is not a joke
00:13:15.320 now the Liberals
00:13:16.320 have been claiming
00:13:17.320 since December
00:13:18.320 when this leaked out
00:13:20.320 that Trump had joked
00:13:21.320 about Canada being
00:13:22.320 the 51st state
00:13:23.320 when Trudeau went
00:13:24.320 to Mar-a-Lago
00:13:25.320 oh it's just a joke
00:13:26.320 he's just joking
00:13:27.320 this isn't for real
00:13:28.320 and
00:13:29.320 now Trudeau
00:13:30.320 says on this
00:13:31.320 quote unquote
00:13:32.320 hot mic moment
00:13:33.320 that it's for real
00:13:35.320 if Trudeau hadn't
00:13:36.320 announced his resignation
00:13:37.320 and the Liberal Party
00:13:38.320 was not
00:13:39.320 you know
00:13:40.320 now millions of dollars
00:13:41.320 into deposits
00:13:42.320 from candidates
00:13:43.320 to
00:13:44.320 run their leadership
00:13:45.320 in their leadership
00:13:46.320 I think he'd be trying
00:13:47.320 to pull a Pierre Trudeau
00:13:48.320 and say
00:13:49.320 oh
00:13:50.320 Chris resign
00:13:51.320 I'm sorry
00:13:53.320 you must have misheard me
00:13:54.320 I'm not going anywhere
00:13:56.320 well they're
00:13:57.320 they're experiencing
00:13:58.320 whiplash across the board
00:14:00.320 aren't they with
00:14:01.320 like as
00:14:02.320 as you pointed out
00:14:03.320 to me this morning
00:14:04.320 our front page
00:14:05.320 in the Toronto Sun
00:14:06.320 talks about
00:14:08.320 how the
00:14:09.320 the main liberal
00:14:10.320 leadership candidates
00:14:11.320 have all reversed
00:14:12.320 reversed themselves
00:14:13.320 on the key issues
00:14:14.320 that they used
00:14:15.320 to campaign on
00:14:16.320 yeah let me just
00:14:18.320 pull it up and read it out
00:14:19.320 we were all wrong
00:14:20.320 but reelected anyway
00:14:21.320 Mr. Freeland
00:14:24.320 just yesterday
00:14:25.320 or the other day
00:14:26.320 saying oh
00:14:27.320 you know we should really
00:14:28.320 build LNG export terminals
00:14:31.320 wait a minute
00:14:32.320 there were 16
00:14:33.320 on the desk of the government
00:14:34.320 when you took over
00:14:35.320 and you either rejected them
00:14:37.320 or ragged the puck so long
00:14:38.320 that people said
00:14:39.320 people said eh
00:14:40.320 I'm leaving
00:14:42.320 you were part of a government
00:14:44.320 that told
00:14:45.320 Japan and
00:14:46.320 and Germany
00:14:47.320 who were both
00:14:48.320 importing
00:14:49.320 LNG from
00:14:50.320 Russia
00:14:51.320 that there was
00:14:52.320 no we're not going to sell
00:14:53.320 you LNG
00:14:54.320 there's no business case
00:14:55.320 and
00:14:56.320 and guess what
00:14:57.320 did you see what happened
00:14:58.320 Friday in
00:14:59.320 in Washington
00:15:00.320 Donald Trump signs a very
00:15:02.320 lucrative deal
00:15:03.320 to sell oil and gas
00:15:05.320 to Japan
00:15:06.320 that could have been
00:15:07.320 our deal
00:15:08.320 and based on how the Germans
00:15:10.320 have done it
00:15:11.320 we could have actually
00:15:12.320 built everything
00:15:13.320 and been exporting
00:15:14.320 by now
00:15:15.320 getting them off of
00:15:16.320 Russian gas
00:15:18.320 taking away
00:15:19.320 Putin's money
00:15:20.320 for his war
00:15:21.320 against Ukraine
00:15:22.320 and also
00:15:23.320 because it would be
00:15:24.320 the West Coast
00:15:25.320 selling that LNG
00:15:26.320 to China
00:15:27.320 and India
00:15:28.320 to get them off coal
00:15:29.320 reducing their emissions
00:15:30.320 from those electricity plants
00:15:31.320 by two thirds
00:15:32.320 and we said no
00:15:34.320 and now
00:15:35.320 the liberals said
00:15:36.320 they want that
00:15:37.320 they also want an
00:15:38.320 east-west pipeline
00:15:39.320 and Dominic LeBlanc said
00:15:40.320 you know
00:15:41.320 we should really
00:15:42.320 rein in spending
00:15:43.320 who are you guys
00:15:46.320 and what did you do
00:15:47.320 with the liberals?
00:15:48.320 So let's talk about
00:15:49.320 Prime Minister Whiplash
00:15:50.320 Mr. Carney
00:15:53.320 so he like the others
00:15:55.320 has reversed himself
00:15:56.320 on basically every policy
00:15:57.320 that he was secretly
00:15:58.320 involved with
00:15:59.320 but he seems to be
00:16:01.320 getting away with it
00:16:02.320 he's got the majority
00:16:03.320 of cabinet behind him
00:16:04.320 majority of caucus
00:16:05.320 and a lot of Canadians too
00:16:08.320 if you believe the polls
00:16:09.320 he's doing very well
00:16:11.320 why do
00:16:12.320 like I don't understand
00:16:13.320 we've got to be the only
00:16:14.320 country in the world
00:16:15.320 as I said on CFRA
00:16:16.320 this morning
00:16:17.320 that thinks it's a good idea
00:16:18.320 to drop a banker
00:16:19.320 into a pit
00:16:20.320 with a rabid crocodile
00:16:22.320 but anyway
00:16:23.320 apparently we do
00:16:24.320 why
00:16:25.320 why is Carney
00:16:26.320 doing so well
00:16:27.320 compared to other people
00:16:28.320 in the political landscape?
00:16:30.320 I
00:16:31.320 well first off
00:16:32.320 the entire PMO team
00:16:33.320 is behind
00:16:34.320 so you
00:16:36.320 you know
00:16:37.320 why did so many
00:16:38.320 cabinet ministers
00:16:40.320 go to him
00:16:41.320 instead of
00:16:42.320 Christian Freeland
00:16:43.320 sorry if you can hear
00:16:44.320 snowy
00:16:45.320 Chloe snoring loudly
00:16:46.320 appropriately
00:16:49.320 yeah yeah
00:16:50.320 we're boring her
00:16:51.320 with this
00:16:53.320 but
00:16:54.320 you know
00:16:55.320 they
00:16:56.320 the
00:16:57.320 the Trudeau team
00:16:58.320 are
00:16:59.320 so angry
00:17:00.320 at Freeland
00:17:01.320 they feel betrayed
00:17:02.320 by her
00:17:03.320 so they pressured
00:17:04.320 everyone
00:17:05.320 that they could
00:17:06.320 to go with her
00:17:07.320 even
00:17:08.320 you remember
00:17:09.320 that the day
00:17:10.320 that Freeland
00:17:11.320 announced her resignation
00:17:12.320 Anita Anand is walking in
00:17:13.320 and she's choking up
00:17:14.320 talking about this
00:17:15.320 and saying what a good friend
00:17:16.320 she is
00:17:17.320 at Christian Freeland
00:17:18.320 it made her pause
00:17:20.320 to consider her future
00:17:21.320 but she's on
00:17:22.320 Mark Carney's team
00:17:23.320 why?
00:17:24.320 you got Katie Telford
00:17:25.320 the chief of staff
00:17:27.320 you've got
00:17:28.320 Jerry Bucks
00:17:29.320 his former principal secretary
00:17:30.320 you got Andrew Bateman
00:17:31.320 who's supposed to be
00:17:32.320 the neutral campaign guy
00:17:33.320 you know
00:17:34.320 believe it or not
00:17:36.320 I talked to liberals
00:17:37.320 I know they've all made calls
00:17:39.320 for Mark Carney
00:17:40.320 but Jerry's on his team
00:17:41.320 but they're team kryptonite
00:17:43.320 I mean they're the ones
00:17:44.320 who reduced Trudeau
00:17:45.320 to 16%
00:17:46.320 at Christmas time
00:17:47.320 why is it working
00:17:49.320 with Carney?
00:17:50.320 well he
00:17:51.320 you know
00:17:52.320 he looks good
00:17:53.320 he comes from
00:17:54.320 central casting
00:17:55.320 maybe there's a fondness
00:17:56.320 for your guys
00:17:57.320 who could be swapped
00:17:58.320 in and out
00:17:59.320 as one of the Darren's
00:18:00.320 on Bewitched
00:18:01.320 that kind of love
00:18:02.320 oh my god
00:18:03.320 that's so true
00:18:04.320 isn't it
00:18:05.320 like he
00:18:06.320 you know
00:18:07.320 if you're of our vintage
00:18:08.320 then you grew up watching
00:18:09.320 Bewitched after school
00:18:10.320 right?
00:18:11.320 and
00:18:12.320 they swapped out
00:18:13.320 the Darren's
00:18:14.320 and
00:18:15.320 nobody noticed
00:18:16.320 and Mark Carney could be one of them
00:18:17.320 but also
00:18:18.320 I think
00:18:19.320 the Canadian media
00:18:20.320 gives
00:18:21.320 Carney
00:18:22.320 a free pass
00:18:25.320 he's
00:18:26.320 friends with some of them
00:18:27.320 but I think a lot of them just go
00:18:28.320 ooh
00:18:29.320 banker
00:18:30.320 oh he saved the
00:18:31.320 Canadian economy
00:18:32.320 I mean he's literally out there
00:18:33.320 with a stolen
00:18:34.320 valor
00:18:35.320 type story
00:18:36.320 that he saved
00:18:37.320 two economies
00:18:38.320 he was
00:18:39.320 he was
00:18:40.320 the central banker
00:18:41.320 for two economies
00:18:42.320 but
00:18:43.320 you know
00:18:44.320 the bank governor
00:18:45.320 only made certain decisions
00:18:46.320 and claiming that
00:18:48.320 it was him
00:18:49.320 as opposed to he was part of the team
00:18:50.320 with Stephen Harper
00:18:51.320 and Jim Flaherty
00:18:52.320 who made the big decisions
00:18:53.320 the political decisions
00:18:55.320 is going a bit far
00:18:56.320 but people don't question that
00:18:58.320 and I think
00:18:59.320 you know
00:19:00.320 there's a certain amount of
00:19:01.320 credentialism in Canada
00:19:03.320 where people just say
00:19:04.320 oh he's an economist
00:19:05.320 he must be smart
00:19:06.320 well
00:19:07.320 look at his policy
00:19:08.320 so he said
00:19:09.320 you know
00:19:10.320 get rid of the consumer carbon tax
00:19:11.320 but then he said
00:19:12.320 he would
00:19:13.320 jack up the industrial carbon tax
00:19:15.320 and Todd Battis
00:19:16.320 at CTV Atlantic
00:19:17.320 says to him
00:19:18.320 well won't that
00:19:19.320 mean prices will go up
00:19:20.320 and he said
00:19:21.320 oh no
00:19:22.320 I mean
00:19:23.320 do you buy much steel these days?
00:19:24.320 you know
00:19:25.320 if you increase the tax on business
00:19:26.320 of course
00:19:27.320 prices will go up
00:19:28.320 it's like tariffs
00:19:29.320 it's like tariffs
00:19:30.320 they just pass it along
00:19:31.320 and then
00:19:32.320 he wants
00:19:33.320 he wants a tariff
00:19:34.320 on imports
00:19:35.320 if your climate plan
00:19:37.320 isn't good enough
00:19:38.320 meaning you don't have a carbon tax
00:19:39.320 who would that be?
00:19:40.320 the United States
00:19:42.320 yeah
00:19:43.320 Mexico
00:19:44.320 China
00:19:45.320 are three
00:19:46.320 so he wants a tariff
00:19:47.320 imagine
00:19:48.320 the outrage in Washington
00:19:50.320 and you could put
00:19:51.320 Kamala Harris
00:19:52.320 in the White House
00:19:53.320 let's back up
00:19:54.320 and pretend that
00:19:55.320 the Democrats won
00:19:56.320 you put a border tariff
00:19:57.320 based on climate
00:19:59.320 on everything that
00:20:00.320 the U.S. sends to us
00:20:01.320 one
00:20:02.320 it will drop off prices
00:20:03.320 two
00:20:04.320 we're talking about
00:20:06.320 retaliatory tariffs
00:20:07.320 now
00:20:08.320 what are we going to do?
00:20:09.320 yeah
00:20:10.320 retaliatory tariffs
00:20:12.320 so
00:20:13.320 this is why I say
00:20:14.320 Kearney gets a free pass
00:20:16.320 he says things
00:20:17.320 and he
00:20:18.320 but he puts them in a
00:20:19.320 yeah
00:20:20.320 well we will have a
00:20:21.320 carbon border adjustment
00:20:23.320 oh okay
00:20:24.320 people just write down
00:20:25.320 carbon border adjustment
00:20:26.320 what the hell is that?
00:20:27.320 it's a tariff
00:20:28.320 oh
00:20:29.320 he
00:20:30.320 he gets a free pass
00:20:31.320 and I think that's why
00:20:32.320 he's moving up
00:20:33.320 and you saw that
00:20:34.320 Nanos poll
00:20:35.320 about 40%
00:20:37.320 believed that
00:20:38.320 he would be the best person
00:20:39.320 to deal with Donald Trump
00:20:40.320 so did you call Trump
00:20:41.320 a rabid crocodile
00:20:42.320 in a pit?
00:20:44.320 uh
00:20:45.320 only 26%
00:20:46.320 picked
00:20:47.320 Kaliyev
00:20:48.320 when Trudeau was in
00:20:49.320 Kaliyev was ahead of
00:20:51.320 Trudeau significantly
00:20:52.320 on who would be best
00:20:53.320 position to deal with Donald Trump
00:20:55.320 quite frankly
00:20:56.320 quite frankly
00:20:57.320 I don't know what
00:20:58.320 you know
00:20:59.320 who would be best
00:21:00.320 to deal with Donald Trump
00:21:01.320 what we need
00:21:02.320 to deal with Donald Trump
00:21:03.320 is start being an adult country
00:21:04.320 and doing things
00:21:05.320 that we've been sloughing off
00:21:06.320 like the teenager
00:21:08.320 who doesn't want to get a real job
00:21:09.320 for the last 10 years
00:21:10.320 like building pipelines
00:21:12.320 and LNG
00:21:13.320 and diversifying trade
00:21:15.320 and spending on our military
00:21:16.320 um
00:21:18.320 I
00:21:19.320 coffee with the
00:21:20.320 American diplomat
00:21:21.320 earlier in the week
00:21:22.320 and
00:21:23.320 and they just said
00:21:24.320 look if
00:21:25.320 if you guys just looked after
00:21:26.320 the military stuff
00:21:27.320 and the national security stuff
00:21:29.320 that's 70% of the irritants
00:21:31.320 like
00:21:32.320 we're just
00:21:33.320 fed up with you guys
00:21:35.320 this is
00:21:36.320 this is someone who worked
00:21:37.320 under the Biden
00:21:38.320 well
00:21:39.320 it's
00:21:40.320 uh
00:21:41.320 Carney's ambiguity
00:21:42.320 reminds me of
00:21:43.320 a quotation
00:21:44.320 from Karl Marx
00:21:45.320 which I put out yesterday
00:21:46.320 which is
00:21:47.320 the massive people
00:21:48.320 have sound common sense
00:21:50.320 they have an instinctive hatred
00:21:52.320 against everything ambiguous
00:21:53.320 which I think is why
00:21:54.320 Trump won
00:21:55.320 and why Carney
00:21:56.320 uh
00:21:57.320 may ultimately
00:21:58.320 be in trouble
00:21:59.320 because he's just
00:22:00.320 it's like pinning down smoke
00:22:01.320 with this guy
00:22:02.320 but
00:22:03.320 it's kind of
00:22:04.320 it reminds me a little bit
00:22:05.320 of Paul Martin
00:22:06.320 yeah
00:22:07.320 yeah
00:22:08.320 if you have 150 priorities
00:22:09.320 you don't have any
00:22:10.320 so
00:22:11.320 we shall see
00:22:12.320 any in coming days
00:22:13.320 I guess we'll see on tariffs
00:22:14.320 and all kinds of other stuff
00:22:16.320 for Brian Lilly
00:22:17.320 and Chloe
00:22:18.320 sleeping away
00:22:19.320 in the background there
00:22:20.320 thank you so much
00:22:21.320 have a great day
00:22:22.320 thank you
00:22:23.320 when you open your eyes
00:22:28.320 take a deep look inside
00:22:33.320 you don't have to feel the same way
00:22:37.320 you did yesterday
00:22:38.320 oh no
00:22:39.320 yesterday
00:22:40.320 oh no
00:22:41.320 yesterday
00:22:43.320 was so low
00:22:46.320 things will be so good one day
00:22:49.320 can't wait for the holiday
00:22:52.320 happiness is on its way
00:22:54.320 alright
00:22:55.320 we can see the world someday
00:22:59.320 everything will be okay
00:23:01.320 happiness is on its way
00:23:02.320 happiness is on its way
00:23:03.320 alright
00:23:04.320 happiness is on its way
00:23:05.320 alright
00:23:06.320 when you open your eyes
00:23:08.320 when you open your eyes
00:23:11.320 take a deep look inside
00:23:14.320 you don't have to feel the same way
00:23:18.320 you don't have to feel the same way
00:23:21.320 you did yesterday
00:23:23.320 oh no
00:23:25.320 things will be so good one day
00:23:29.320 can't wait for the holiday
00:23:31.320 happiness is on its way
00:23:33.320 alright
00:23:35.320 we can see the world someday
00:23:38.320 someday
00:23:40.320 everything will be okay
00:23:42.320 happiness is on its way
00:23:43.320 alright
00:23:45.320 we had to hear but here we are
00:23:50.320 we had to hear but here we are
00:23:55.320 we had to hear but here we are
00:24:02.320 we had to hear but here we are
00:24:05.320 When you open your eyes
00:24:10.620 Take a deep look inside
00:24:14.540 You don't have to feel the same
00:24:19.500 What you did yesterday
00:24:22.260 Oh no
00:24:24.500 Two, three, four
00:24:25.980 Things will be so good one day
00:24:28.300 Can't wait for the holiday
00:24:30.400 Happiness is on its way, alright
00:24:34.280 We can see the world someday
00:24:38.000 Everything will be okay
00:24:40.520 Happiness is on its way, alright
00:24:43.820 And we're back, and we're back with a special guest
00:24:51.400 We're back with E.
00:24:53.180 And this is, I mean, I get prime ministers and presidents
00:24:57.420 and celebrities asking to be on the Kinsella cast all the time
00:25:01.580 All the time
00:25:03.140 But this is an occasion where E. said to me
00:25:07.160 I want to say something
00:25:09.800 I want to express my opinion
00:25:13.680 And what she told me she wanted to express her opinion on
00:25:17.380 was the deal, in quotation marks
00:25:20.820 that Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump concluded a few days ago
00:25:25.320 Or did they?
00:25:26.860 So tell us
00:25:28.900 You were pretty upset, weren't you?
00:25:32.260 Okay, first of all, I think we need to back up a moment here
00:25:34.380 Who's the most recent celebrity who's asked to be on this?
00:25:39.520 Brian Lilly
00:25:40.180 Yeah, exactly
00:25:42.300 No, actually the reason is I believe the last time I was on
00:25:46.360 there was many, many calls for more E to be on this podcast
00:25:51.220 Certain sense of comedic levity
00:25:53.620 The embarrassing of you, I think, was particularly attractive to some of your listeners
00:25:58.780 I don't remember any of that
00:25:59.960 Okay, get to your opinion
00:26:01.120 Yes, I was indeed annoyed
00:26:04.540 I have stayed away from the news a little bit as of late
00:26:10.840 Why?
00:26:12.180 Well, because I live with you
00:26:13.240 So I don't necessarily have to read all the newspapers I once did
00:26:17.020 But I did need a bit of a break
00:26:18.640 I went back to some old hobbies
00:26:20.440 Been particularly keen on keeping my phone out of my hand
00:26:24.500 And pretty much just read the news on Sunday mornings
00:26:27.860 But have to listen to you ad nauseum for most of the day
00:26:32.860 So I'm not limited to my news throughout the day
00:26:37.520 However, I had been keeping up on the phone calls
00:26:42.860 Back and forth, whatever
00:26:44.960 Dithering between the president to the south
00:26:49.220 And our current leader, in quotations
00:26:54.000 Wow, big pause there
00:26:55.720 And at first, their first tete-a-tete was fine
00:27:01.500 I thought Mr. Trudeau was as poised and defiant as he could be
00:27:09.100 However, the second phone call, I was quite upset about
00:27:13.600 I was sitting at the table doing some work
00:27:15.460 And I was eagerly awaiting you to come down from, believe it or not, folks
00:27:20.080 Some quiet meditation time for Mr. Kinsella
00:27:23.340 And as soon as he hit the bottom of the stairs, I was rife with, quite honestly, a lot of swear words
00:27:30.980 You swear a lot, though
00:27:34.780 I do swear a lot, that's not unusual
00:27:36.220 However, I rarely raise my voice
00:27:38.800 But I was quite disappointed in his approach
00:27:42.920 Why?
00:27:46.080 Here, I'll just say
00:27:47.260 I thought he did the best he could
00:27:50.380 And as it turned out in the subsequent coverage
00:27:52.460 Apparently he agreed to do stuff that was already happening
00:27:55.500 Yeah, my problem is, is the best he could do
00:27:58.500 Like, this is a difficult position he's in
00:28:02.200 We really don't have a leader at the moment
00:28:04.360 And we don't necessarily know who's going to be our next leader
00:28:06.600 And from what is, I can see ahead of me
00:28:10.480 I'm not in particular in favor of any of the potential candidates
00:28:13.380 What, Mark Carney doesn't, like, rock your world?
00:28:16.220 Not particularly, he's a little bit vanilla
00:28:17.800 I think he'd be great economically
00:28:20.600 But aside from that, he's not really giving me anything
00:28:23.060 Brian Lilly calls him Darren from Bewitched
00:28:25.680 Which one?
00:28:27.900 See, oh, there you just dated yourself
00:28:30.200 Darren 1 or Darren 2
00:28:30.820 Darren 1 or Darren 2
00:28:31.800 But he, Brian said you could sub him in as a Darren
00:28:34.600 Kind of bland, vanilla, as you say
00:28:36.820 Yeah, I mean, he has a look that's a little
00:28:39.060 For lack of a better term, and I apologize
00:28:42.260 It's a little whitewashed
00:28:43.420 It's just a little banal to me
00:28:46.360 And I know he's been making the rounds
00:28:49.280 But hasn't really done much for me
00:28:51.180 Nor have the other potential candidates
00:28:52.800 But in fairness of Trudeau, what would you have had him do?
00:28:57.500 So here's the situation
00:28:59.700 I spoke to a couple of my friends about this
00:29:02.740 And you, I'm not really sure what your actual thoughts are
00:29:05.820 And what my take was on it
00:29:07.740 That's unusual
00:29:08.520 Usually you hear about all my thoughts
00:29:10.420 That is true
00:29:11.300 I think you kind of agreed with me
00:29:13.040 But as you say to me often
00:29:14.560 Which I get quite bent out of shape about
00:29:16.520 Is when I have an opinion about this
00:29:18.360 You say, that's not how it's done in politics
00:29:20.800 I do not say that
00:29:22.280 Yes, you do
00:29:22.300 That's fucking bullshit
00:29:23.220 You say that all the time to me
00:29:24.600 To which I get very upset
00:29:25.880 And which is why, despite many people
00:29:28.460 Suggesting I go into politics
00:29:29.880 I probably wouldn't be good at it
00:29:31.700 Because apparently
00:29:32.320 I do things that just aren't done in politics
00:29:35.200 What I mean is
00:29:36.060 You just have to be careful
00:29:37.340 You've got to be careful in politics
00:29:38.820 There's always a hand grenade out there
00:29:40.560 Fair enough
00:29:41.040 So this brings me to my problem here
00:29:45.000 Is, well, it's not really my problem
00:29:46.980 It's potentially all of our problems
00:29:48.680 My thought was
00:29:51.700 I wouldn't have even taken the phone call
00:29:53.300 The first thought I had was
00:29:56.500 I just wanted to skirt around him
00:29:58.480 And go have a little gal pal chat
00:30:01.620 With our friend farther south
00:30:03.480 Madam Steinbaum
00:30:04.780 Who has a rather large population of consumers
00:30:07.720 Yes, she does
00:30:09.380 Canada being one of them
00:30:11.340 As someone who works in food
00:30:13.320 And buys a lot of food
00:30:14.620 It's pretty easy to go around
00:30:17.280 Pretty much California
00:30:19.560 And not bring in their produce
00:30:21.640 What about the EU?
00:30:22.620 You know a lot about food in Europe
00:30:24.080 Do you know a lot about the EU?
00:30:25.220 I bring in a lot of specialty products from the EU
00:30:27.440 I would love a better trading relationship with the EU
00:30:29.980 So again, if it had been me
00:30:31.960 I would have, you know
00:30:34.420 Gotten down to Mexico as fast as possible
00:30:37.320 And had an actual tête-à-tête with Madam Steinbaum
00:30:41.700 And then possibly taken a flight
00:30:44.260 Straight to Brussels thereafter
00:30:46.180 To see what our friends in the EU could do
00:30:48.980 And then maybe, just maybe
00:30:50.920 Would have, I don't know
00:30:52.880 Maybe thrown a phone call to our royal leader
00:30:55.880 And potentially some other Commonwealth countries
00:30:58.380 To say, where are we at
00:30:59.780 In terms of our current relationship?
00:31:01.840 How are we feeling as a Commonwealth nation?
00:31:04.180 Are we still good pals?
00:31:05.380 Like, what are we looking at here
00:31:06.780 In terms of, you know, a team relationship?
00:31:10.500 King Chuck has been rather quiet, hasn't he?
00:31:12.520 I have noted that weeks ago
00:31:13.920 Now, I give him a little bit of credit
00:31:16.060 I'm not a royalist
00:31:17.140 But he's ailing to an extent
00:31:20.020 So we'll give him some credit
00:31:21.300 And, you know, quite frankly
00:31:23.180 Maybe he's a little gun-shy of Trump
00:31:26.320 But either way
00:31:27.300 We are still a Commonwealth country
00:31:28.660 So I might have done a little digging around
00:31:30.960 Just to see where some support
00:31:32.600 Might have come from
00:31:33.360 Our fellow Commonwealth allies
00:31:35.380 However, the point of my anger that night
00:31:39.060 Was I don't think he should have
00:31:40.800 Even taken the phone call
00:31:41.920 How do you ignore the President of the United States
00:31:45.220 When he's talking about making you
00:31:46.580 The 51st state?
00:31:47.740 How do you do that?
00:31:48.360 My thoughts on someone like him
00:31:51.660 I don't know this man
00:31:53.040 I've never met this man
00:31:54.480 But my thoughts is
00:31:56.180 He is sort of your classic bully
00:31:59.760 With a group of sort of infantile sycophants around him
00:32:06.120 I think there's syphilis in the mix too, personally
00:32:08.680 Not potentially
00:32:09.640 However, I'm a bit of
00:32:12.920 What I'm about to say is slightly oxymoronic
00:32:15.560 Because I can be quite defiant
00:32:18.940 And a little over the top
00:32:21.360 In how I might choose to handle things
00:32:24.040 But I'm quite pragmatic at the same time
00:32:26.840 So my whole thought was
00:32:29.000 I would never have taken the phone call
00:32:30.480 And much to what I just said
00:32:31.920 I would have just gone around
00:32:33.460 And had these conversations
00:32:35.080 With other current or potential allies
00:32:37.720 To see how we could, you know
00:32:40.000 Ease this situation
00:32:42.060 Or potentially carve out some sort of plan
00:32:44.220 That might be better for us in the long run
00:32:45.840 I don't want to have a trade war
00:32:47.680 With the United States
00:32:48.760 I don't want to have problems with this man
00:32:50.820 But do we really believe
00:32:52.640 That if we kowtow to him
00:32:54.280 Whether large or small
00:32:55.540 That he's just going to stop
00:32:56.740 And everything's going to be friendly and fine?
00:32:58.660 I don't think so
00:32:59.700 That's not what he's interested in
00:33:01.060 This is his second term
00:33:02.840 To, you know
00:33:05.060 He was, you know
00:33:07.840 A limited version of himself
00:33:09.520 To an extent in his first term
00:33:11.160 He doesn't care
00:33:12.360 He does not give a shit
00:33:13.920 About this second term
00:33:14.960 He is going to steamroll
00:33:16.620 And boil over
00:33:18.180 And deep fry
00:33:19.180 And do whatever he wants in this term
00:33:20.760 Because he doesn't care
00:33:22.020 We've seen that
00:33:23.160 In the first 10, 20 days of this
00:33:25.500 He's going to do whatever he wants
00:33:27.380 He doesn't care about the outcomes
00:33:28.880 So yes
00:33:30.180 Is there a potential, you know
00:33:32.040 Threat if we don't do what he wants
00:33:34.140 But how do we look
00:33:35.140 In the grand scheme of things
00:33:36.260 As a country
00:33:37.400 And again
00:33:39.380 It's a little bit of a difficult situation
00:33:41.360 But
00:33:42.140 Where my anger came specifically
00:33:44.500 To Trudeau
00:33:45.940 Is he did have
00:33:47.140 A slight opportunity
00:33:49.140 To go out
00:33:50.440 With a little bit of gumption
00:33:51.980 A little bit of chutzpah
00:33:53.320 A little bit of
00:33:54.480 I know my country
00:33:55.460 Doesn't like me
00:33:56.420 But maybe
00:33:57.200 I have a little bit
00:33:58.640 Of an opportunity here
00:33:59.700 To gain some
00:34:00.940 Respect
00:34:01.820 By
00:34:02.460 Really
00:34:03.400 Showing up in front of this
00:34:06.020 Quote-unquote bully
00:34:06.860 And I don't think he did it
00:34:08.140 And I was embarrassed
00:34:09.420 And quite frankly angry
00:34:11.620 I mean I wasn't slamming my shoe
00:34:13.120 On the dinner table
00:34:13.900 Close
00:34:15.340 Close
00:34:15.900 It was close
00:34:16.580 Well you know
00:34:17.780 You and I
00:34:18.800 You know
00:34:19.620 We'll head to our
00:34:20.920 Beachfront property
00:34:21.820 In Gaza
00:34:22.460 And you know
00:34:23.440 We can debate
00:34:24.200 All of this stuff
00:34:25.120 Absolutely ridiculous
00:34:26.100 Yeah it's fucking madness
00:34:27.600 That's the time we live in
00:34:29.480 And you know
00:34:30.040 The challenge I think
00:34:31.300 That any politician's got
00:34:32.640 I sound like I'm defending
00:34:33.800 Trudeau
00:34:34.340 Talking to you
00:34:35.520 Is
00:34:36.640 It's so hard
00:34:38.260 To deal with somebody
00:34:39.540 Who's clearly
00:34:41.040 Mentally ill
00:34:41.860 Who has power
00:34:43.020 That's
00:34:43.840 That's something
00:34:44.720 You know
00:34:45.720 My experience in politics
00:34:47.400 You know
00:34:48.080 You meet idiosyncratic
00:34:49.720 Weird people
00:34:50.760 But nothing at this level
00:34:52.740 Has happened before
00:34:53.640 Fair enough
00:34:54.120 And I apologize
00:34:54.680 For the interruption
00:34:55.480 But is the alternative
00:34:56.360 To be like
00:34:56.900 Yes sir
00:34:57.920 No problem
00:34:59.060 We'll do this for you
00:35:01.100 Because
00:35:01.420 You know
00:35:02.640 This
00:35:03.700 To your
00:35:04.540 Earlier point
00:35:05.580 This plan
00:35:06.680 The border plan
00:35:07.320 Was already in process
00:35:08.240 With Biden
00:35:08.940 So it's nothing new
00:35:10.460 And ultimately
00:35:12.580 Like
00:35:12.980 Do we really think
00:35:14.600 In however many
00:35:15.380 How many days
00:35:15.860 Did you say it was
00:35:16.340 26 days
00:35:17.220 Or however longer
00:35:17.860 We have
00:35:18.280 Until this 30 days
00:35:19.420 Is up
00:35:19.760 Is he
00:35:21.040 Not going to come back
00:35:22.020 With something else
00:35:22.860 He has no
00:35:24.980 You know
00:35:26.420 He doesn't care
00:35:27.320 So ultimately
00:35:28.300 He can be like
00:35:28.920 Well here's the next thing
00:35:30.280 Little small medium
00:35:31.460 Whatever
00:35:31.880 Are you going to do this
00:35:32.920 Are you going to do this
00:35:33.580 Like at what point
00:35:34.560 The niceties of Canada
00:35:36.420 Did we just be like
00:35:37.200 Fuck you
00:35:38.080 There's other countries
00:35:40.080 In the world
00:35:40.560 There's other people
00:35:41.240 In the world
00:35:41.860 You're a raging idiot
00:35:43.740 We still love
00:35:44.780 Your country
00:35:46.920 And your people
00:35:47.780 But you
00:35:48.340 The blue states
00:35:49.040 We love the blue states
00:35:50.300 There's some lovely people
00:35:51.240 In the red states as well
00:35:52.420 You and I need to think
00:35:53.360 About what we're going
00:35:53.980 To do this summer
00:35:54.660 We go to Maine
00:35:55.820 Every summer
00:35:56.500 We love it
00:35:57.140 Nice blue state
00:35:58.400 Campaign for the Democrats
00:35:59.740 When we're there
00:36:00.360 But do we do
00:36:01.960 What a lot of my readers
00:36:02.920 Have done
00:36:03.360 Which is cancel their trips
00:36:04.680 Something we'll have to
00:36:05.520 Debate in the coming months
00:36:06.660 Yeah
00:36:06.980 There's several things
00:36:08.240 That will have to be
00:36:08.940 Debated in the coming months
00:36:10.640 And someone very close to me
00:36:12.540 Has you know
00:36:13.560 Has been planning for
00:36:14.580 A year to move
00:36:15.740 To the United States
00:36:16.600 To a blue state
00:36:17.780 However
00:36:18.840 She's in flux right now
00:36:20.120 Because she has
00:36:20.760 An ethical dilemma
00:36:21.600 And she has
00:36:22.240 A business dilemma
00:36:23.060 And I feel for her
00:36:25.080 On all counts
00:36:26.500 But you know
00:36:27.680 The problem with
00:36:29.240 Trump is he makes
00:36:30.800 A lot of
00:36:31.380 Well seemingly
00:36:32.180 Rash decisions
00:36:33.080 Sometimes I think
00:36:33.740 He's just off the cuff
00:36:34.640 Seemingly
00:36:35.440 I think the Gaza comment
00:36:36.740 Was maybe premeditated
00:36:38.880 But the way he executed it
00:36:40.160 Based on the looks
00:36:42.520 On everybody in that room
00:36:43.740 Was off the cuff
00:36:44.800 But you know
00:36:46.200 A lot of I think
00:36:47.060 What he's going to do
00:36:47.960 Is going to be
00:36:49.080 Irresponsible
00:36:50.780 And you know
00:36:52.580 Just how he feels
00:36:53.880 Or just what comes
00:36:54.980 To top of mind
00:36:55.640 In the moment
00:36:56.100 So you
00:36:58.060 I live with you
00:37:00.280 Someone who is
00:37:01.220 Perpetually pessimistic
00:37:03.600 And thinking about
00:37:04.280 The worst possible scenario
00:37:05.520 I'm generally the opposite
00:37:07.000 I feel pretty
00:37:08.820 Calm
00:37:10.280 I mean there's
00:37:11.260 Lots to be worried about
00:37:12.160 But
00:37:12.460 There's not a whole lot
00:37:14.580 That we can do
00:37:15.800 To prepare
00:37:16.440 We just have to wait
00:37:17.380 And see how it
00:37:18.340 Rolls out
00:37:19.340 But my point is
00:37:20.680 False
00:37:21.140 We buy Canadian
00:37:22.260 Well of course
00:37:23.260 But buying Canadian
00:37:24.020 Is a lot easier
00:37:24.680 Than I think a lot of people
00:37:25.660 Consider
00:37:26.680 I mean I spend a lot of time
00:37:28.100 In food
00:37:29.980 Certainly
00:37:30.460 And it's not as difficult
00:37:32.000 As you might think
00:37:32.820 However
00:37:34.880 I just think that
00:37:37.000 You know
00:37:38.220 Just as a country
00:37:39.380 And whoever is going
00:37:40.300 To be representing us
00:37:41.120 Just needs to
00:37:42.280 Be a little bit more
00:37:43.620 Gratia
00:37:45.120 Yep
00:37:46.440 On the situation
00:37:47.240 One of the
00:37:48.100 Boldest things
00:37:49.780 You and I
00:37:50.520 Have talked about it
00:37:51.160 And I grew up with it
00:37:52.060 And he was my
00:37:52.700 Prime Minister
00:37:53.300 For my generation
00:37:54.580 But he said no
00:37:56.540 To the American
00:37:57.660 President
00:37:58.360 At a very crucial
00:37:59.760 Point in time
00:38:00.400 They didn't invade us
00:38:02.940 Nope
00:38:03.500 Nope
00:38:04.400 They did not
00:38:04.920 And they had
00:38:05.120 In my opinion
00:38:06.440 And some people
00:38:07.080 Might disagree
00:38:07.660 But in the
00:38:09.220 Many years
00:38:10.140 Since he's been
00:38:10.640 Out of office
00:38:11.220 I sure as hell
00:38:12.200 Will take a George W
00:38:13.100 Back in the United States
00:38:14.540 And he was
00:38:16.020 Slightly
00:38:16.620 Slightly a smarter
00:38:17.860 Individual
00:38:18.360 That Chrétien
00:38:19.940 Was saying no to
00:38:20.660 At that time
00:38:21.340 So is this one
00:38:23.000 Further
00:38:24.340 Off
00:38:25.400 You know
00:38:25.800 Out in the world
00:38:26.620 Of
00:38:27.020 Sort of
00:38:27.960 Psychopathy
00:38:28.620 Absolutely
00:38:29.460 But it's not to say
00:38:30.560 That we have to
00:38:31.080 Tiptoe around him
00:38:31.960 Just because of that
00:38:32.800 Look at all the
00:38:33.440 Dictators in the world
00:38:35.960 That we've tiptoed around
00:38:37.020 How's that worked out
00:38:37.880 Usually doesn't work out
00:38:39.600 Very well
00:38:40.040 Well this has worked out
00:38:41.400 Quite well
00:38:42.120 And you didn't insult me
00:38:43.760 As much as I expected you to
00:38:45.440 Mildly
00:38:45.740 Well there's still
00:38:46.240 How much time do we have left
00:38:47.120 Yeah
00:38:47.480 Okay
00:38:48.040 That segment's over
00:38:49.100 Thanks very much
00:38:49.800 For coming out
00:38:50.420 Anyway
00:38:51.200 E
00:38:51.560 Thank you
00:38:52.260 For your views
00:38:53.380 I suspect
00:38:54.220 Your views reflect that
00:38:55.660 Of many many Canadians
00:38:57.420 Mine maybe not so much
00:38:59.140 Keep your fan mail coming
00:39:00.460 Warren really gets upset
00:39:01.620 When people tell him
00:39:02.520 How much they enjoy
00:39:03.320 Me on the podcast
00:39:03.560 I don't like any
00:39:04.320 I just want them to like me
00:39:05.980 I don't want them to like
00:39:06.920 You know
00:39:07.280 You or Brian or anybody
00:39:08.560 I want them to like me
00:39:09.520 That's your problem
00:39:10.360 You want them to like you
00:39:11.460 Alright
00:39:11.940 Thank you E
00:39:13.420 Anytime
00:39:14.780 Bye bye
00:39:32.160 While I thought the lust
00:39:38.980 Were figured in the end
00:39:40.920 I'm lost, I live
00:39:42.920 The sharpest in the winds
00:39:44.980 You're good, forget
00:39:46.620 Confused eyes
00:39:48.340 Oh, save me
00:39:50.520 Forget me
00:39:52.600 I've been popular
00:39:54.300 Cowboy is on the ice
00:39:59.540 Sippin' I'll tell you
00:40:02.580 Well, it's best to live
00:40:05.420 It's a live, it's a live
00:40:07.540 Here I say
00:40:10.020 In head
00:40:11.060 The sharpest with the lust
00:40:13.000 You're fine, I'm nice
00:40:15.040 Enough to let you live
00:40:17.000 I'm lost, I live
00:40:19.040 The sharpest wind and wind
00:40:20.920 Oh, save me
00:40:22.600 Oh, save me
00:40:24.580 I thought the lust
00:40:27.080 Would feel good in the end
00:40:29.000 I'm lost, I live
00:40:31.060 The sharpest wind and wind
00:40:33.120 You're good, forget
00:40:34.960 Confused eyes
00:40:36.460 Oh, save me
00:40:38.580 Oh, save me
00:40:40.660 I've been popular
00:40:42.460 Cowboy is on the ice
00:40:47.840 Sippin' I'll show you
00:40:51.000 But it's best to live
00:40:53.520 Best to live
00:40:54.520 Best to live
00:40:55.560 Feel good in the fire
00:41:14.360 Kill what they've done for you
00:41:18.800 Drowning in the hard part
00:41:22.720 Cowboy for the mower, don't you
00:41:26.680 Fuckin' above your life
00:41:31.900 Cowboy in your fears
00:41:35.640 Tickin' I'll show you
00:41:38.760 But it's best to live
00:41:41.600 Best to live
00:41:42.640 Best to live
00:41:43.700 This is CFRA Live
00:42:02.240 Sunday Political Panel
00:42:04.040 And welcome to a time
00:42:09.600 For our CFRA Live
00:42:10.300 Sunday Political Panel
00:42:11.260 Joining us this morning
00:42:12.260 Is Tasha Carradine
00:42:13.200 Political columnist
00:42:13.920 For the National Post
00:42:14.720 Writer for GZERO Media
00:42:15.920 And an author
00:42:16.700 Tasha, good morning
00:42:17.680 Good morning
00:42:19.280 Warren Kinsella is here
00:42:20.560 Strategist and Post Media
00:42:21.560 Columnist
00:42:22.020 You can read his latest
00:42:22.880 In the Toronto Sun
00:42:23.880 Good morning, Warren
00:42:24.520 Morning, guys
00:42:25.700 And Carl Belanger
00:42:26.560 Is the president
00:42:27.120 At Traction Strategies
00:42:28.260 Good morning, Carl
00:42:28.900 Morning, everybody
00:42:29.820 So, I don't know
00:42:31.080 We've gone one week
00:42:31.800 Without a panic
00:42:32.480 Late night news conference
00:42:33.940 So that's good news
00:42:34.820 I suppose
00:42:35.360 But we did end up
00:42:36.620 Getting this 11th hour
00:42:37.600 Deal done
00:42:38.180 On, when was that
00:42:39.680 On Monday now
00:42:40.420 Which feels like
00:42:40.920 A year ago at this point
00:42:41.940 But we did get this done
00:42:43.280 There was kind of
00:42:43.740 A combination of
00:42:44.440 Previously announced
00:42:45.260 Things that the
00:42:46.320 Federal government
00:42:46.760 Said it was doing
00:42:47.400 At the border
00:42:48.000 Tasha, did you find
00:42:49.780 The federal government
00:42:50.340 Found the right balance
00:42:51.240 Here in terms of
00:42:51.980 Perhaps not giving away
00:42:53.100 The farm
00:42:53.600 But also trying to
00:42:54.880 Assage the concerns
00:42:56.280 Of the U.S. president
00:42:57.240 Well, I don't know
00:42:59.180 If we can ever
00:42:59.600 Fully assuage them
00:43:01.060 But we had announced
00:43:03.220 In December
00:43:03.960 That we were
00:43:04.540 In the economic statement
00:43:05.940 Going to drop
00:43:06.560 $1.3 billion
00:43:07.520 To secure our border
00:43:09.380 We also did something else
00:43:11.280 That wasn't mentioned
00:43:11.900 That's actually very important
00:43:12.980 Which is allow FinTrack
00:43:14.760 Which is the organization
00:43:16.240 That reports
00:43:17.400 Or surveils
00:43:18.740 Transactions by financial institutions
00:43:21.360 To cooperate, collaborate
00:43:23.200 And share data
00:43:24.020 With its compatriots
00:43:25.120 In the United States
00:43:26.140 So that's already happening
00:43:27.800 All this stuff
00:43:28.300 That was already happening
00:43:29.300 And that's very important
00:43:30.900 To combat money laundering
00:43:31.920 And I don't think Trump
00:43:32.840 Trump apparently
00:43:33.500 Wasn't aware of it
00:43:34.420 Trudeau said that
00:43:35.180 He didn't seem to know
00:43:36.100 No one had briefed him
00:43:37.060 That we were doing these things
00:43:38.200 So Trudeau's negotiation point
00:43:39.760 It's kind of ironic
00:43:41.080 Because we just said
00:43:41.800 We're doing what we said
00:43:42.920 We'd do anyway
00:43:43.600 Plus a fentanyl czar
00:43:45.480 Who we haven't named yet
00:43:47.160 And so I think
00:43:49.700 All things considered
00:43:51.200 The prime minister did well
00:43:53.160 Because we didn't actually
00:43:54.100 Give away anything
00:43:54.920 That we said
00:43:55.740 We weren't going to do
00:43:56.280 In the first place
00:43:56.840 Warren, is this the art
00:43:58.620 Of the deal for Canada
00:43:59.640 In terms of trying to
00:44:00.680 At least delay
00:44:01.620 What seems like
00:44:03.000 The inevitable here
00:44:03.840 Yeah
00:44:05.280 Well both Mexico
00:44:07.200 And Canada
00:44:08.140 Did the pause
00:44:10.120 In the imposition
00:44:11.720 Of the tariffs
00:44:12.560 And then stories
00:44:13.880 Started trickling out
00:44:14.960 As Tasha said
00:44:16.540 Saying that we basically
00:44:18.120 Agreed to do
00:44:19.400 What we were already doing
00:44:20.880 And like
00:44:22.520 We live in an era
00:44:23.740 Where when I started
00:44:24.560 To see those stories
00:44:25.360 I became nervous
00:44:26.220 About them
00:44:26.720 That Trump would see them
00:44:27.940 And then
00:44:28.440 You know
00:44:28.880 Lash out
00:44:29.640 Steve Bannon
00:44:30.900 Can tell you
00:44:31.440 All about what happens
00:44:32.440 When you
00:44:32.960 You look like
00:44:33.980 You're smarter
00:44:35.100 Or better than Trump
00:44:36.140 On the front page
00:44:36.880 Of Time magazine
00:44:37.560 You lose your job
00:44:38.540 So
00:44:39.560 That's not much
00:44:41.140 Of a way
00:44:41.620 To run
00:44:42.300 Relations
00:44:43.240 With our former
00:44:44.560 Best ally
00:44:45.640 And trading partner
00:44:46.840 I'm not
00:44:48.760 You know
00:44:49.720 I give a lot
00:44:50.540 Of credits
00:44:50.920 To the Prime Minister
00:44:51.780 And his team
00:44:53.240 Leading up to that
00:44:54.840 I'm not sure
00:44:56.580 What's going to happen
00:44:57.400 Now however
00:44:58.340 Like you say Andy
00:44:59.600 It feels like
00:45:00.180 A year ago
00:45:01.020 You know
00:45:02.740 Trudeau is going
00:45:03.560 To be leaving
00:45:04.140 Right around the time
00:45:05.880 Within days
00:45:07.160 Of this pause
00:45:08.740 Ending
00:45:09.500 And possibility
00:45:11.140 Of tariffs
00:45:11.680 Coming again
00:45:12.380 We're going to be
00:45:13.800 Heading into a situation
00:45:14.960 Where we have a guy
00:45:16.160 Almost certainly
00:45:17.700 Becoming Prime Minister
00:45:19.060 Who does not have a seat
00:45:20.300 In the House of Commons
00:45:21.240 We don't know
00:45:22.520 If he knows anything
00:45:23.720 About politics
00:45:24.560 Or how to deal
00:45:25.200 With somebody
00:45:25.660 Like Donald Trump
00:45:26.740 Like we're
00:45:27.800 To me
00:45:28.420 We're heading into
00:45:29.380 Actually even more
00:45:30.680 Uncertainty than we've had
00:45:32.400 Because at least
00:45:33.340 We knew
00:45:33.860 What Trudeau was like
00:45:35.520 And we knew
00:45:36.160 He was there
00:45:37.060 With some degree
00:45:37.780 Of legitimacy
00:45:38.480 That's not going to be
00:45:39.960 The case in the next
00:45:41.000 Few days
00:45:41.560 And that makes me nervous
00:45:42.780 Just an objective point
00:45:44.620 To add to that
00:45:45.200 It is insane
00:45:45.920 That Parliament
00:45:46.380 Is not sitting right now
00:45:47.460 During this time
00:45:48.360 You could say
00:45:48.880 You know
00:45:49.360 Whatever side
00:45:49.880 Of the political spectrum
00:45:50.540 We fall on
00:45:51.100 I just note
00:45:51.840 That it is crazy
00:45:52.520 That Parliament
00:45:53.000 Isn't sitting right now
00:45:53.980 Carl
00:45:54.560 Just back on the point
00:45:55.620 Of this deal here
00:45:56.780 Was this kind of
00:45:57.940 The perfect amount
00:45:58.840 Of kind of balance
00:45:59.700 Here that we needed
00:46:00.340 To at least get
00:46:00.960 Our breath
00:46:01.700 Without this tariff
00:46:02.980 Gun to our head
00:46:03.660 Well it worked
00:46:05.280 So I guess it was
00:46:06.220 Yeah fair fair
00:46:07.220 The truth is
00:46:08.940 You know
00:46:09.780 When you're dealing
00:46:10.940 With Donald Trump
00:46:11.740 You never know
00:46:13.040 You know
00:46:14.220 Mexico
00:46:14.660 It needed one call
00:46:15.880 For Canada
00:46:16.600 It needed two calls
00:46:17.520 Why
00:46:17.960 Well you know
00:46:19.180 Perhaps because
00:46:19.740 He didn't know
00:46:20.280 He had no idea
00:46:21.020 He had done these things
00:46:21.820 And he had to do
00:46:22.360 A couple of calls
00:46:24.440 To do his research
00:46:26.020 I mean
00:46:26.740 The guy is not
00:46:27.620 A reasonable guy
00:46:28.480 You know
00:46:29.360 Nobody actually knows
00:46:30.540 How to deal with him
00:46:31.780 The rampage
00:46:33.700 He's on leash
00:46:34.320 In the United States
00:46:35.220 You know
00:46:36.320 Shows that
00:46:37.200 It's not based
00:46:38.200 In reality
00:46:38.800 So how do you
00:46:40.340 Deal with that
00:46:40.980 Well you know
00:46:41.700 You try to make
00:46:42.320 The best of it
00:46:43.060 And you try to
00:46:43.920 Give him enough
00:46:45.460 So that he can go
00:46:46.280 And claim a win
00:46:46.980 Which he did
00:46:47.740 So he's winning
00:46:48.700 That's all that matters
00:46:49.880 To him
00:46:50.320 So as long as
00:46:51.520 He keeps winning
00:46:52.200 I guess we can
00:46:53.040 Delay those tariffs
00:46:54.280 That's the only approach
00:46:56.200 But you know
00:46:56.860 It cannot be based
00:46:57.740 In reasonable policy
00:46:58.700 Because as we know
00:47:00.180 When it comes to fentanyl
00:47:02.180 Which is the main reason
00:47:03.080 This tariffs
00:47:03.580 Were put in place
00:47:04.420 Canada is what
00:47:07.000 Like 40 kilos
00:47:08.000 Worse seized from Canada
00:47:09.080 By the United States
00:47:10.340 Compared to
00:47:11.480 I don't know how many
00:47:12.320 Tenths of thousands
00:47:13.340 From Mexico
00:47:14.080 It's not the same thing
00:47:15.500 At all
00:47:15.800 But he puts everything
00:47:17.080 In the same basket
00:47:17.800 He's blaming everyone
00:47:18.740 Else but himself
00:47:19.540 And it's going to be
00:47:20.660 Four years of this nonsense
00:47:21.820 And just to follow
00:47:23.480 On that Carl
00:47:23.920 Because we did hear
00:47:24.500 The Prime Minister
00:47:25.380 Caught in a hot mic
00:47:26.160 Which it seems
00:47:27.060 US media was very
00:47:28.120 Interested in that as well
00:47:29.020 But obviously Trudeau
00:47:30.220 Saying that the threat
00:47:31.280 From Donald Trump
00:47:32.140 Was real in his
00:47:33.080 Perceived mind as well
00:47:34.280 Is there any doubt
00:47:35.600 That this was real
00:47:36.540 In your mind
00:47:37.120 What do you make
00:47:38.180 Of this whole
00:47:38.560 51st state thing
00:47:39.520 Well I mean
00:47:41.640 It's real
00:47:43.800 But I don't think
00:47:45.480 That it will happen
00:47:47.100 In the way that
00:47:48.260 People fear
00:47:49.280 The thing is that
00:47:51.980 I think it started
00:47:53.060 As a joke
00:47:53.780 I really do
00:47:55.020 And then it became
00:47:56.240 A real thing
00:47:57.460 In his mind
00:47:58.300 I think he really
00:47:59.900 Believes that
00:48:00.500 Canadians would be
00:48:01.480 Better off as
00:48:02.240 Part of the United States
00:48:03.600 And that Canadians
00:48:04.220 Actually want that
00:48:05.480 So of course
00:48:07.280 You have to take it
00:48:07.840 Seriously
00:48:08.120 The guy is the
00:48:08.760 President of the
00:48:09.200 United States
00:48:09.780 And he has
00:48:10.300 He has the button
00:48:11.340 You know
00:48:12.120 He can just
00:48:13.100 Do whatever he wants
00:48:14.820 As far as
00:48:16.100 As is concerned
00:48:17.260 And that's what
00:48:17.880 He's doing
00:48:18.360 And yeah
00:48:19.560 Of course you have
00:48:20.180 To take this seriously
00:48:20.980 And Warren
00:48:22.160 It was actually
00:48:22.600 It was just around
00:48:23.220 This time last Sunday
00:48:23.900 The President put out
00:48:24.600 This message saying
00:48:25.260 Hey basically
00:48:25.840 If Canada
00:48:26.280 If you don't want
00:48:26.840 Tariffs become
00:48:27.500 The 51st state
00:48:28.440 Now J.D. Vance
00:48:29.360 A couple hours later
00:48:30.060 Had to come clean it up
00:48:30.840 On social media
00:48:31.460 And mention that
00:48:32.120 Whole border and
00:48:32.820 Fentanyl thing
00:48:33.400 Once again
00:48:33.940 But is this real
00:48:35.460 In your mind
00:48:36.080 Do you have the
00:48:36.500 Prime Minister's
00:48:37.000 Same sense on this
00:48:37.720 Or what do you
00:48:38.320 Make of it
00:48:38.780 It's all bogus
00:48:40.480 You know
00:48:41.400 The fentanyl thing
00:48:43.000 It's not even
00:48:44.640 40 pounds of it
00:48:45.780 Caught in the last
00:48:46.680 Fiscal
00:48:47.080 It's less than that
00:48:48.160 As we learned
00:48:49.100 This week
00:48:49.520 From the Globe and Mail
00:48:50.400 That a third
00:48:51.140 Of that number
00:48:51.960 Was in Spokane
00:48:53.620 Which is 150 miles
00:48:54.840 From the Canadian border
00:48:56.200 He's claimed
00:48:57.500 It's about illegal immigrants
00:48:58.860 You know
00:48:59.660 We're less than
00:49:00.720 1% of the illegal
00:49:01.980 Immigrants
00:49:03.420 Who come
00:49:03.940 Into the United States
00:49:05.480 The vast majority
00:49:06.740 Come from the south
00:49:07.520 As we all know
00:49:08.260 He claimed
00:49:09.160 It was banks
00:49:09.800 American banks
00:49:10.920 Operate here
00:49:11.740 He claimed
00:49:12.520 It was dairy
00:49:13.400 He said
00:49:14.740 It was military
00:49:15.640 Like he's a liar
00:49:16.960 Like he lies
00:49:18.100 All the time
00:49:18.920 And you know
00:49:20.260 Everybody knows it
00:49:21.260 I think
00:49:21.840 You know
00:49:22.900 The simplest explanation
00:49:24.160 In politics
00:49:24.840 Is usually the best one
00:49:26.320 And the explanation
00:49:27.960 That he's given
00:49:29.020 For his interest
00:49:30.160 In making us
00:49:30.880 The 51st state
00:49:31.880 As you point out
00:49:32.780 Is he just wants it
00:49:34.680 Like he wants
00:49:35.820 Greenland
00:49:36.440 And he wants Panama
00:49:37.600 And he's got designs
00:49:39.340 On other places
00:49:40.200 As well
00:49:41.280 That's
00:49:42.100 He wants to expand
00:49:43.340 The territory
00:49:44.160 Of the United States
00:49:45.380 Of America
00:49:46.020 And he'll cook up
00:49:47.380 Whatever excuse
00:49:48.280 He can think of
00:49:49.260 So this is why
00:49:50.280 I kind of
00:49:50.840 I found it disgusting
00:49:51.900 That there were
00:49:52.680 Canadians
00:49:53.140 Like Danielle Smith
00:49:54.160 Actually attempting
00:49:55.520 To justify his madness
00:49:57.180 He was lying
00:49:58.720 All along
00:49:59.420 He wants Canada
00:50:00.960 He wants to turn us
00:50:02.140 Into a 51st state
00:50:03.760 He said so
00:50:04.800 That's the real reason
00:50:05.940 I wonder if there's
00:50:07.180 Other things
00:50:07.800 On Danielle Smith's plate
00:50:08.740 Now that might
00:50:09.320 Have him away
00:50:10.060 From this issue
00:50:10.740 At this moment
00:50:11.320 But Tasha
00:50:12.520 Just on this
00:50:13.260 51st state point
00:50:14.060 What do you make
00:50:15.340 Of it
00:50:15.520 Like I said
00:50:15.880 We've been going
00:50:16.240 Back and forth
00:50:16.800 But to Warren's point
00:50:17.580 Two
00:50:17.820 There's been so many
00:50:19.080 Different things
00:50:19.900 Said that don't
00:50:20.420 Really make sense
00:50:21.180 Is this threat
00:50:22.100 Real do you think
00:50:22.880 Yes
00:50:24.420 I think it is
00:50:25.380 And I agree
00:50:25.820 100% with Warren
00:50:26.700 The rest of it
00:50:27.360 Is a smokescreen
00:50:29.020 It's
00:50:29.780 You know
00:50:30.820 It's a useful
00:50:31.800 Way to
00:50:32.700 Deal with it
00:50:34.380 Because he's had
00:50:35.000 The same issue
00:50:35.480 With Mexico
00:50:35.960 So he lumped us
00:50:36.720 Into that basket
00:50:37.440 But the reality
00:50:38.020 Is
00:50:38.460 Canada has
00:50:40.500 A lot of what
00:50:41.400 The US would want
00:50:42.280 And the biggest
00:50:43.380 Reason though
00:50:44.060 Is that geopolitically
00:50:45.620 We sit on
00:50:46.640 The border of Russia
00:50:47.820 The you know
00:50:49.180 The Northwest Passage
00:50:50.160 Because of climate change
00:50:51.260 The ice is melting
00:50:52.860 We're seeing
00:50:53.780 A much greater ability
00:50:55.360 To transit that waterway
00:50:56.800 We are going to be
00:50:57.820 The border
00:50:58.280 We are right now
00:50:59.440 And our country
00:51:00.900 Has you know
00:51:02.100 Limited defense capacity
00:51:04.100 Domestically
00:51:04.680 But if we were part
00:51:05.260 Of the United States
00:51:06.060 They could just do
00:51:06.580 Whatever they wanted
00:51:07.280 And they know that
00:51:09.220 And the other issue
00:51:10.380 Is that we have allowed
00:51:11.880 And this is
00:51:12.680 You know
00:51:13.100 Multiple governments
00:51:13.960 Have allowed
00:51:14.440 Our country
00:51:15.780 To be a subject
00:51:17.200 Of foreign infiltration
00:51:18.540 By China
00:51:20.620 By you know
00:51:21.760 Even India
00:51:22.500 Russia
00:51:22.880 But mostly China
00:51:23.960 That makes Donald Trump
00:51:25.420 Very nervous too
00:51:26.600 One way to combat that
00:51:28.660 Is basically
00:51:29.560 Take over Canada
00:51:30.420 And not allow
00:51:31.360 These things to happen
00:51:32.220 Expand the ability
00:51:34.540 Of law enforcement
00:51:35.400 In the US
00:51:35.880 To deal with it
00:51:36.580 They've dealt with a lot
00:51:37.500 Of they've arrested
00:51:38.360 Quite a few people
00:51:39.000 Of the US
00:51:39.560 At high levels
00:51:40.800 Who were actually
00:51:42.040 Agents of the
00:51:42.620 Chinese government
00:51:43.220 So it is
00:51:44.940 There's a lot
00:51:46.060 Of other stuff
00:51:46.980 Going on
00:51:47.560 That make Canada
00:51:48.360 You know
00:51:48.960 As an independent nation
00:51:50.560 Not a good thing
00:51:51.800 For the United States
00:51:52.640 And I think that goes
00:51:53.280 To what Warren
00:51:53.780 Is saying
00:51:54.140 Is that
00:51:54.500 Trump says
00:51:55.120 Okay I want to
00:51:55.760 Expand my territory
00:51:56.620 To places that are
00:51:57.760 Useful to me
00:51:59.220 And my country
00:51:59.960 So Panama
00:52:00.980 Greenland would be great
00:52:02.840 Yeah we got to
00:52:03.540 Take Canada
00:52:04.120 Because they're a problem
00:52:05.060 I mean this is
00:52:06.280 How he thinks
00:52:06.820 So you know
00:52:08.920 It actually is a threat
00:52:10.280 We have to take it
00:52:11.220 Seriously
00:52:11.600 I think Canadians
00:52:12.780 Are taking it seriously
00:52:13.620 And the only silver
00:52:14.400 Lining here
00:52:14.920 Is that we have seen
00:52:15.620 A resurgence of
00:52:16.280 Patriotism in this
00:52:17.040 Country that we
00:52:17.520 Haven't seen
00:52:18.040 In ages
00:52:18.800 Because people
00:52:19.440 Really finally
00:52:19.960 Are waking up
00:52:20.560 And going
00:52:20.900 Gee
00:52:21.300 Maybe they're
00:52:22.540 Not our friend
00:52:23.140 Yeah I think
00:52:24.520 It's unfortunate
00:52:25.120 That it took this
00:52:26.000 To get that push
00:52:26.600 For patriotism
00:52:27.660 But hey I guess
00:52:28.280 You take it
00:52:28.920 What you can get
00:52:29.620 At this point
00:52:30.100 I wanted to
00:52:31.140 Change gears a little
00:52:31.900 Bit here
00:52:32.180 Back on the
00:52:32.800 Kind of federal
00:52:33.720 Horse race
00:52:34.600 In some ways
00:52:35.160 We've seen
00:52:35.520 So a couple of
00:52:36.220 Weeks ago
00:52:36.480 Right we saw
00:52:36.900 This ECOS poll
00:52:37.640 And it was
00:52:38.000 Kind of showing
00:52:38.440 The liberals
00:52:38.760 I've been saying
00:52:39.560 That okay be
00:52:40.160 Careful this
00:52:40.640 Isn't an outlier
00:52:41.280 But we've seen
00:52:42.080 Other kind of
00:52:42.620 Pollsters kind of
00:52:43.240 Follow up here
00:52:43.740 And the race
00:52:44.220 Is tightening
00:52:44.800 Warren I know
00:52:45.860 You wrote a little
00:52:46.420 Bit about this
00:52:46.960 This week
00:52:47.300 Just what do you
00:52:48.020 Get the sense
00:52:48.460 Of why the polls
00:52:49.060 Are tightening up
00:52:49.640 And why Pierre Polyev
00:52:51.060 Is losing his lead
00:52:51.800 In some ways
00:52:52.380 Well somewhere
00:52:53.800 ECOS Frank Graves
00:52:55.420 Is smiling
00:52:56.100 Yeah no kidding
00:52:57.420 Because everybody
00:52:58.860 Else has been
00:52:59.600 Heading to his
00:53:00.400 Position you know
00:53:01.260 If you look
00:53:01.580 At some polls
00:53:02.320 The conservative
00:53:03.300 Party has been
00:53:03.960 Losing about
00:53:04.480 Three points a
00:53:05.340 Week for a
00:53:06.380 Number of weeks
00:53:07.140 Now so it's
00:53:09.060 Turning into
00:53:10.440 A competitive
00:53:11.720 Race and I
00:53:14.720 Think the biggest
00:53:15.540 Reason for that
00:53:16.360 Is and Pierre
00:53:17.100 Polyev or
00:53:18.140 Mark Carney
00:53:19.040 It's Donald
00:53:20.080 Trump and
00:53:20.800 That's the
00:53:21.220 Column I've
00:53:21.860 Got in post
00:53:22.500 Media today
00:53:23.420 Is at the
00:53:25.100 End of the
00:53:25.440 Day you
00:53:26.260 Know I
00:53:27.020 Conclude the
00:53:27.600 Column by
00:53:28.060 Saying not
00:53:28.560 Every conservative
00:53:30.960 In Canada is
00:53:32.300 A trump fan
00:53:33.000 But every
00:53:34.020 Canadian trump
00:53:34.840 Fan is a
00:53:36.120 Conservative
00:53:36.620 And voters
00:53:38.240 Know that
00:53:38.960 And they
00:53:39.800 Sense that
00:53:40.840 A significant
00:53:41.800 Chunk of the
00:53:43.100 Conservative
00:53:43.600 Membership and
00:53:44.580 Maybe even
00:53:45.100 Its caucus
00:53:45.860 Are supporters
00:53:47.460 Either secretly
00:53:48.960 Or overtly of
00:53:50.120 Donald Trump
00:53:50.780 And they
00:53:51.480 Don't like
00:53:51.800 That because
00:53:52.620 They now see
00:53:53.260 Donald Trump
00:53:53.940 As an
00:53:54.440 Existential threat
00:53:55.380 To this
00:53:55.760 Country
00:53:56.160 He's the
00:53:57.060 Enemy
00:53:57.340 So you
00:53:58.480 Have to
00:53:58.900 Choose lanes
00:53:59.820 And so this
00:54:01.180 Traditional position
00:54:02.980 That the
00:54:03.440 Conservative
00:54:03.820 Party had
00:54:04.380 Taken on
00:54:06.120 Trump is
00:54:07.180 Not available
00:54:07.780 To them
00:54:08.200 Anymore
00:54:08.560 Like the
00:54:08.940 Liberal war
00:54:09.480 Room is
00:54:09.800 Sitting there
00:54:10.200 Guys I
00:54:10.660 Guarantee you
00:54:11.340 Getting ready
00:54:12.420 To deploy all
00:54:13.400 Kinds of
00:54:13.900 Kinds of
00:54:13.920 Shots of
00:54:14.920 Members of
00:54:15.380 Members of
00:54:15.400 The Conservative
00:54:15.920 Caucus and
00:54:16.840 Key advisors
00:54:17.880 Of Mr.
00:54:18.580 Polyev wearing
00:54:19.780 Make America
00:54:20.560 Great Again
00:54:21.220 Ball caps
00:54:22.020 Like they
00:54:22.980 Are going to
00:54:23.640 Tattoo the
00:54:24.800 Conservative
00:54:25.280 Side with
00:54:26.040 This suggestion
00:54:27.980 And right
00:54:29.160 Now I
00:54:30.040 Don't get the
00:54:30.780 Sense that
00:54:31.260 Polyev has a
00:54:32.240 Compelling
00:54:32.740 Argument against
00:54:33.720 It you know
00:54:34.760 He's got a
00:54:35.380 Good plan I
00:54:36.080 Think for
00:54:36.680 Dealing with
00:54:37.160 Tariffs but
00:54:38.360 He hasn't
00:54:38.900 Addressed the
00:54:39.540 Key point which
00:54:40.920 Is Pierre
00:54:41.620 Polyev will
00:54:42.460 You accept
00:54:43.220 That Donald
00:54:44.180 Trump is
00:54:45.160 Our adversary
00:54:46.460 Will you
00:54:47.300 Answer that
00:54:48.420 Yes or no
00:54:49.200 And he
00:54:49.620 Hasn't done
00:54:50.080 That
00:54:50.360 It's been
00:54:51.460 Interesting to
00:54:51.860 Watch too
00:54:52.240 Because it's
00:54:52.720 Been very
00:54:53.060 Different for
00:54:53.600 Doug Ford
00:54:54.140 This week
00:54:54.440 But I was
00:54:54.720 Just seeing a
00:54:55.260 Note here from
00:54:55.840 Abacus Data
00:54:56.620 Showing that
00:54:57.260 That hot
00:54:57.680 Mic moment
00:54:58.080 That he had
00:54:58.540 This week
00:54:58.880 In terms of
00:54:59.360 Supporting
00:55:00.140 Trump might
00:55:00.580 Be a little
00:55:00.940 Bit of a
00:55:01.280 Turning point
00:55:01.760 They're not
00:55:02.140 In any
00:55:02.620 Danger I
00:55:03.280 Will say
00:55:03.680 At this
00:55:04.060 Point but
00:55:04.480 It's just
00:55:05.160 Kind of
00:55:05.380 Showing up
00:55:05.740 In the
00:55:05.920 Polls is
00:55:06.340 What they
00:55:06.620 Are kind
00:55:06.900 Of saying
00:55:07.240 Tasha
00:55:08.240 I guess
00:55:08.780 You know
00:55:09.240 Pierre Polyev
00:55:09.700 Has been
00:55:10.080 Kind of
00:55:10.360 Pushed to
00:55:10.740 The side
00:55:11.160 Here effectively
00:55:11.740 Because of
00:55:12.240 The kind
00:55:12.720 Of crisis
00:55:13.100 That we
00:55:13.440 Do find
00:55:13.780 Ourselves in
00:55:14.280 So it
00:55:14.960 Feels like
00:55:15.280 There has
00:55:15.720 Been a
00:55:16.020 Bit of
00:55:16.300 A soft
00:55:16.660 Rebrand
00:55:17.100 Just your
00:55:18.100 Thoughts
00:55:18.460 On where
00:55:18.920 He needs
00:55:19.360 To go
00:55:19.560 From here
00:55:19.860 To get
00:55:20.140 Back to
00:55:20.560 Connecting
00:55:20.980 With
00:55:21.160 Canadians
00:55:21.760 Well they
00:55:23.740 Are rebranding
00:55:24.380 They've been
00:55:24.820 Testing messages
00:55:25.720 They're having
00:55:26.500 A rally
00:55:26.980 In Ottawa
00:55:27.620 Next
00:55:28.160 Saturday
00:55:29.060 Called the
00:55:30.420 Canada
00:55:30.680 First
00:55:31.120 Rally
00:55:31.920 And they've
00:55:32.740 Been promoting
00:55:33.100 It heavily
00:55:33.440 On social
00:55:35.040 Media
00:55:35.380 They've been
00:55:35.760 Promoting it
00:55:36.340 To their
00:55:37.680 Own people
00:55:38.160 And they
00:55:39.520 Are promoting
00:55:40.040 It to
00:55:40.480 Getting people
00:55:41.360 Out to
00:55:41.860 Show exactly
00:55:42.520 That
00:55:42.720 Wrap themselves
00:55:43.240 In the
00:55:43.500 Flag
00:55:43.820 And show
00:55:44.600 That Polyev
00:55:45.480 Can be
00:55:45.760 Captain
00:55:46.140 Canada
00:55:46.620 That Canada
00:55:47.160 Needs
00:55:47.640 They know
00:55:50.140 This is a
00:55:50.600 Problem
00:55:50.900 Because exactly
00:55:51.820 What Warren
00:55:52.200 Said that
00:55:52.660 Polls show
00:55:54.200 Quite clearly
00:55:54.740 That if you
00:55:55.200 Do if you
00:55:55.880 Ask people
00:55:56.300 Before the
00:55:56.680 Election
00:55:57.040 Before the
00:55:58.160 Election
00:55:58.400 Mind you
00:55:58.700 But you
00:55:59.280 Know do
00:55:59.580 You think
00:56:00.720 It's better
00:56:01.220 Do you
00:56:01.600 Like trump
00:56:02.060 There's a
00:56:02.680 Higher
00:56:02.860 Percentage
00:56:03.300 Of
00:56:03.400 Conservatives
00:56:03.980 Much higher
00:56:04.740 Percentage
00:56:05.080 Of conservative
00:56:05.660 Voters
00:56:06.000 And other
00:56:06.340 Parties
00:56:06.700 That said
00:56:07.000 Yeah
00:56:07.180 They did
00:56:07.620 They didn't
00:56:08.240 Want Harris
00:56:08.940 To win
00:56:09.400 So it
00:56:11.180 Is he's
00:56:12.040 Got to
00:56:12.320 Shake that
00:56:12.680 Off
00:56:12.940 Now the
00:56:13.580 Way to
00:56:13.860 Shake it
00:56:14.180 Off is
00:56:14.520 To be
00:56:15.180 Decisive
00:56:15.660 You've
00:56:15.880 Got to
00:56:16.040 Be exactly
00:56:16.600 That
00:56:16.840 You've
00:56:17.020 Got to
00:56:17.200 Say you
00:56:17.940 Know what
00:56:18.280 These
00:56:19.460 These guys
00:56:19.780 Are not
00:56:20.080 A friend
00:56:20.420 And we
00:56:21.120 Have to
00:56:21.360 Stand up
00:56:21.820 And we
00:56:22.120 Have to
00:56:22.420 Be tough
00:56:22.880 And the
00:56:24.180 Problem he'll
00:56:24.860 Face is not
00:56:25.620 Even so much
00:56:26.120 External at
00:56:26.900 This point
00:56:27.220 It's internal
00:56:27.800 Which becomes
00:56:28.560 An external
00:56:28.980 Problem right
00:56:29.800 It is all
00:56:30.320 Those things
00:56:30.660 It's Candace
00:56:31.180 Bergen in a
00:56:31.740 MAGA hat
00:56:32.240 I mean that
00:56:32.760 Photo has been
00:56:33.380 Circulating for
00:56:33.980 Years frankly
00:56:34.740 She's a
00:56:35.460 Former
00:56:35.800 You know
00:56:36.500 Former
00:56:36.960 Interim
00:56:37.820 Leader of
00:56:38.560 The party
00:56:38.940 So you've
00:56:39.960 Got to
00:56:40.160 Dispel that
00:56:40.800 And the
00:56:41.340 Only way to
00:56:41.680 Dispel that
00:56:42.100 Is to
00:56:42.320 Repudiate
00:56:42.800 And the
00:56:43.240 Problem is I
00:56:43.660 Don't know if
00:56:43.940 His base in
00:56:44.980 Some parts of
00:56:45.440 The country
00:56:45.640 Will fully
00:56:46.100 Allow him
00:56:46.440 To do
00:56:46.660 That
00:56:46.900 So he's
00:56:49.200 Got a
00:56:49.640 He's got a
00:56:50.420 Challenge
00:56:50.740 Let's just
00:56:51.080 Put it that
00:56:51.480 Way I
00:56:51.840 Just don't
00:56:52.100 Know if the
00:56:52.360 Runway is
00:56:52.780 Long enough
00:56:53.240 For it to
00:56:54.140 Make a huge
00:56:54.940 Difference because
00:56:55.460 The election
00:56:55.880 Could come
00:56:56.280 Very soon
00:56:56.780 And Carl
00:56:58.420 Just a
00:56:58.860 Pure obviously
00:56:59.500 Or pure
00:56:59.900 Probably
00:57:00.120 Obviously
00:57:00.480 Trying to
00:57:01.220 Get a
00:57:02.120 Different
00:57:02.440 Message out
00:57:03.140 There
00:57:03.380 How difficult
00:57:04.500 Is it going
00:57:05.020 To be for
00:57:05.420 Him to
00:57:05.880 I guess
00:57:06.400 Get more
00:57:07.160 Attention in
00:57:07.780 This moment
00:57:08.240 Of you know
00:57:08.940 Well one
00:57:09.440 National unity
00:57:10.100 But also
00:57:10.620 With the
00:57:10.980 Focus on
00:57:11.400 The federal
00:57:11.880 Government
00:57:12.120 And the
00:57:12.360 Current
00:57:12.520 Prime
00:57:12.720 Minister
00:57:12.960 It's very
00:57:13.980 Difficult
00:57:14.380 Because his
00:57:15.220 Temptation
00:57:15.880 Is always
00:57:16.520 To go
00:57:16.860 After the
00:57:17.240 Trudeau
00:57:17.460 Government
00:57:17.760 And you
00:57:18.100 You've
00:57:18.700 Seen it
00:57:19.100 He's toned
00:57:19.600 It down
00:57:19.920 A little
00:57:20.180 Bit
00:57:20.380 But right
00:57:21.320 Now
00:57:21.660 Every time
00:57:22.200 You attack
00:57:22.500 The government
00:57:22.940 You attack
00:57:23.320 The country
00:57:23.800 That's what
00:57:24.600 That's how
00:57:25.060 People feel
00:57:25.720 And so
00:57:27.440 For Poirier
00:57:28.520 He's kind
00:57:29.620 Of been
00:57:29.880 Caught
00:57:30.220 Between a
00:57:30.920 Rock
00:57:31.140 And a
00:57:31.360 Hard
00:57:31.560 Place
00:57:31.860 Also
00:57:32.600 Because
00:57:33.140 Frankly
00:57:34.040 Before
00:57:35.140 All of
00:57:36.380 This
00:57:36.600 Before
00:57:37.100 Trump
00:57:38.080 Went in
00:57:38.680 Crazy
00:57:39.300 Overdrive
00:57:39.940 Canadians
00:57:41.200 Saw Pierre
00:57:41.700 Poirier
00:57:41.940 As the
00:57:42.420 Best
00:57:42.860 Politician
00:57:43.660 To handle
00:57:44.100 Donald
00:57:44.380 Trump
00:57:44.640 They thought
00:57:45.060 You know
00:57:45.380 They agree
00:57:46.360 On a few
00:57:46.760 Things
00:57:47.240 They can't
00:57:47.700 Assign
00:57:48.040 Kind of
00:57:48.500 Political
00:57:49.080 Ideology
00:57:49.800 Or movement
00:57:50.380 You know
00:57:50.780 They'll be
00:57:51.040 Buddy
00:57:51.260 Buddy
00:57:51.500 And they'll
00:57:51.820 Be fine
00:57:52.440 But that
00:57:53.360 Was before
00:57:54.080 Trump
00:57:54.940 Announced
00:57:55.580 These
00:57:55.860 Tariff
00:57:56.780 Stats
00:57:57.240 It was
00:57:58.240 Before
00:57:58.800 Trump
00:57:59.500 Became
00:57:59.900 The enemy
00:58:00.380 And so
00:58:01.040 So you know
00:58:02.260 Maybe if they
00:58:02.880 Talk about the
00:58:03.340 Carbon tax a few
00:58:04.080 More times
00:58:04.540 It will work
00:58:05.260 I don't know
00:58:06.200 I think they're
00:58:07.220 Being cut by
00:58:07.980 That
00:58:08.280 And it's
00:58:08.860 Problematic
00:58:09.440 They need to
00:58:09.980 Refocus
00:58:10.660 But also
00:58:12.860 Of course
00:58:13.460 Polls are
00:58:14.220 You know
00:58:14.720 A snapshot
00:58:15.220 Of what's
00:58:15.740 Happening now
00:58:16.480 And a lot
00:58:17.400 Of people
00:58:17.800 Were quite
00:58:19.220 Happy to see
00:58:19.840 Justin Trudeau
00:58:20.460 Resign
00:58:20.880 And so
00:58:21.520 You know
00:58:21.820 Just as we've
00:58:22.280 Seen before
00:58:22.820 When a political
00:58:23.820 Party
00:58:24.240 You know
00:58:25.000 Change leader
00:58:25.720 Or is in the
00:58:26.240 Issue process
00:58:26.740 People can
00:58:27.940 Project whatever
00:58:28.980 Aspiration they
00:58:29.760 Have on the
00:58:30.220 Next leader
00:58:30.740 So that
00:58:31.820 Will create
00:58:32.360 A bounce
00:58:33.220 That's what
00:58:33.660 We're seeing
00:58:34.120 Right now
00:58:34.660 Is it
00:58:34.940 Sustainable
00:58:35.400 In the
00:58:35.660 Long run
00:58:36.020 We don't
00:58:36.740 Know
00:58:37.000 Mark Carney
00:58:38.040 Has not
00:58:38.500 Really been
00:58:38.860 Tested
00:58:39.460 And
00:58:40.480 Chrystia Freeland
00:58:41.100 Of course
00:58:41.680 Everything she's
00:58:43.720 Putting
00:58:43.980 You know
00:58:44.760 Forward as a
00:58:46.440 Policy
00:58:46.840 People are
00:58:47.920 Wondering
00:58:49.280 Why did
00:58:50.080 You do
00:58:50.380 That
00:58:50.620 You were
00:58:51.900 In power
00:58:52.320 For all
00:58:52.760 These years
00:58:53.240 So
00:58:54.140 You know
00:58:55.220 The thing
00:58:56.020 The thing
00:58:56.860 The conservatives
00:58:57.260 Cannot do
00:58:57.900 Is panic
00:58:58.680 And right
00:58:59.800 Now I think
00:59:00.340 You can feel
00:59:01.060 That they're
00:59:01.760 Panicking a little
00:59:02.680 Bit
00:59:02.940 And if they
00:59:03.680 Panic
00:59:04.060 They'll just
00:59:04.580 Go in a
00:59:04.920 Tailspin
00:59:05.600 And you
00:59:06.040 Kind of
00:59:06.220 Reference it
00:59:06.660 There a
00:59:06.920 Little bit
00:59:07.140 In terms of
00:59:07.640 The liberal
00:59:08.260 Leadership race
00:59:09.060 Carl
00:59:09.240 So I wanted
00:59:09.520 To get to
00:59:09.820 That
00:59:09.980 I'll start
00:59:10.300 With you
00:59:10.600 On that
00:59:11.000 Just
00:59:11.180 You know
00:59:11.640 Mark Carney
00:59:12.020 Has been
00:59:12.280 Kind of
00:59:12.600 Put forward
00:59:13.920 As the
00:59:14.420 Forerunner
00:59:14.900 At this
00:59:15.180 Point
00:59:15.340 We still
00:59:15.880 Haven't
00:59:16.400 Heard him
00:59:16.920 Done
00:59:17.100 You know
00:59:17.400 Extensive
00:59:17.720 Media
00:59:17.960 Interviews
00:59:18.340 Particularly
00:59:18.740 In Quebec
00:59:19.460 As well
00:59:19.960 Is this
00:59:20.800 A good
00:59:21.200 Strategy
00:59:21.660 For him
00:59:22.080 In this
00:59:22.360 Time
00:59:22.620 Is to
00:59:22.900 Just kind
00:59:23.260 Of stay
00:59:23.560 Quiet
00:59:23.860 And wait
00:59:24.140 Till the
00:59:24.380 Leadership race
00:59:24.920 Is over
00:59:25.220 Or could
00:59:25.620 He do
00:59:25.880 Better to
00:59:26.520 I suppose
00:59:27.460 Get out
00:59:27.820 There
00:59:28.040 Well I mean
00:59:29.860 It's working
00:59:30.600 For him
00:59:31.060 Right now
00:59:31.600 So you
00:59:32.100 Know you
00:59:32.380 Stay the
00:59:32.800 Course
00:59:33.140 But there
00:59:34.080 Are some
00:59:34.620 Some clouds
00:59:35.440 Ahead of
00:59:35.980 Course
00:59:36.300 But the
00:59:37.120 Thing is
00:59:37.420 That he
00:59:37.820 Should use
00:59:38.820 The leadership
00:59:39.860 Race as a
00:59:41.020 Training ground
00:59:41.580 For the
00:59:41.980 Election
00:59:42.260 That he
00:59:42.720 You know
00:59:43.300 Wants to
00:59:44.700 Call before
00:59:45.420 Parliament is
00:59:45.960 Recalled
00:59:46.480 Because that's
00:59:47.160 What he
00:59:47.560 He into
00:59:48.380 That
00:59:48.720 If he's
00:59:50.980 Not using
00:59:51.560 The leadership
00:59:51.940 Race to
00:59:52.500 Do these
00:59:53.180 Interviews
00:59:53.980 To
00:59:54.560 You know
00:59:55.980 Practice his
00:59:56.600 Craft
00:59:57.100 He's going
00:59:57.960 To have a
00:59:58.300 Rough time
00:59:58.820 Come election
00:59:59.320 Time because
01:00:00.040 The attacks
01:00:00.600 Will be
01:00:00.920 Coming
01:00:01.320 Fast and
01:00:02.320 Furious
01:00:02.740 And he
01:00:03.280 Won't be
01:00:03.640 Prepared
01:00:04.040 And he
01:00:04.400 Won't be
01:00:04.720 Ready
01:00:05.000 And you
01:00:05.820 Saw a few
01:00:06.220 Bumps here
01:00:06.760 Already at
01:00:07.880 The beginning
01:00:08.160 Of his race
01:00:09.720 When he
01:00:10.040 Announced his
01:00:10.480 Leadership run
01:00:11.260 That was not
01:00:12.320 Perfect
01:00:12.740 That was far
01:00:13.340 From perfect
01:00:13.980 He can get
01:00:14.780 Away with it
01:00:15.280 Within the
01:00:15.620 Liberal party
01:00:16.160 But can he
01:00:16.640 Get away with it
01:00:17.360 Once we
01:00:18.240 Faced the
01:00:18.840 Entire electorate
01:00:19.600 I'm not sure
01:00:20.180 Yeah and that
01:00:20.980 Was kind of
01:00:21.280 My thought in
01:00:21.660 The media
01:00:21.980 Interviews too
01:00:22.500 You can
01:00:22.820 Kind of
01:00:23.080 Get away
01:00:23.360 With it
01:00:23.600 Right now
01:00:23.980 But it's
01:00:24.260 Not good
01:00:24.620 For the
01:00:25.260 Kind of
01:00:26.140 Full court
01:00:26.580 Press that
01:00:27.020 You're going
01:00:27.260 To get
01:00:27.540 Eventually here
01:00:28.140 Warren just
01:00:29.020 On that point
01:00:29.420 I don't want
01:00:29.740 To leave behind
01:00:30.240 Christopher
01:00:30.560 Freeland in
01:00:30.940 Another sense
01:00:31.460 Too because
01:00:31.880 They are
01:00:32.280 Very much
01:00:32.660 At the top
01:00:33.060 Of the ticket
01:00:33.420 It seems
01:00:33.860 To be a
01:00:34.220 Two horse
01:00:34.860 Race here
01:00:35.240 With Carney
01:00:35.900 In the lead
01:00:36.340 Bege
01:00:37.120 Doesn't appear
01:00:37.800 As a big
01:00:38.380 Fan of
01:00:39.360 Freeland
01:00:39.820 At this
01:00:40.120 Point either
01:00:40.520 Based on
01:00:40.940 What we've
01:00:41.260 Learned this
01:00:41.600 Week too
01:00:41.980 Your thoughts
01:00:43.020 On how the
01:00:43.660 Carney versus
01:00:44.200 Freeland race
01:00:44.800 Has been shaping
01:00:45.340 Up over the
01:00:45.840 Last few weeks
01:00:46.420 So it's got to
01:00:47.360 Be very frustrating
01:00:48.260 To her
01:00:48.740 Because you know
01:00:49.660 We've got to
01:00:50.360 Be the only
01:00:50.760 Country in the
01:00:51.380 World that gets
01:00:51.860 Excited about
01:00:52.620 You know
01:00:53.040 Using a banker
01:00:54.100 To represent us
01:00:55.120 In a pro
01:00:55.800 Wrestling match
01:00:56.740 Like I'm not
01:00:58.020 Quite sure
01:00:58.360 That's going to
01:00:59.180 Work out
01:00:59.680 And she's got
01:01:00.260 To be frustrated
01:01:00.860 By that
01:01:01.420 But at the
01:01:02.160 End of the
01:01:02.420 Day a lot
01:01:02.820 Of the people
01:01:03.200 In the Liberal
01:01:03.640 Party have
01:01:04.500 Mixed feelings
01:01:05.120 About her
01:01:05.520 They're grateful
01:01:06.100 That she took
01:01:06.820 Out Trudeau
01:01:07.480 Because if any
01:01:08.260 One person
01:01:08.860 Did it was
01:01:09.880 Her at the
01:01:10.440 Start of
01:01:10.820 December
01:01:11.260 But at the
01:01:12.260 Same time
01:01:12.680 They're kind
01:01:12.980 Of mad at
01:01:13.400 Her because
01:01:13.820 She took
01:01:14.200 Out Trudeau
01:01:14.840 And you know
01:01:15.980 Many of
01:01:16.420 Them remain
01:01:16.940 Loyal to
01:01:17.580 Him
01:01:17.880 Many of
01:01:18.540 Them owe
01:01:19.200 Their political
01:01:19.940 Careers to
01:01:20.740 Him
01:01:20.980 So you know
01:01:22.020 The vast
01:01:22.540 Majority of
01:01:23.320 Caucus and
01:01:23.960 Cabinet have
01:01:25.020 Lined up
01:01:25.440 Behind Carney
01:01:26.280 And I
01:01:27.120 You know
01:01:27.400 Again I
01:01:27.820 Think they're
01:01:28.160 Making a
01:01:28.560 Big big gamble
01:01:29.380 Because he's
01:01:29.880 The guy has
01:01:30.300 Never had
01:01:30.740 Political office
01:01:31.740 And we don't
01:01:32.680 Know how he's
01:01:33.360 Going to
01:01:33.600 Operate in
01:01:34.260 The big chair
01:01:34.880 But I guess
01:01:35.880 We're about
01:01:36.240 To find out
01:01:36.840 Rolling the
01:01:37.620 Dice I
01:01:37.980 Suppose and
01:01:38.860 Attaching just
01:01:39.840 On your
01:01:40.200 Point just
01:01:40.560 Your thoughts
01:01:40.940 On how the
01:01:41.700 Leadership race
01:01:42.400 Has really
01:01:43.260 Strung together
01:01:43.720 So far
01:01:44.200 Well it's
01:01:46.680 Almost been
01:01:47.120 Subsumed by
01:01:47.960 Events right
01:01:48.720 I think that
01:01:49.860 It is ironic
01:01:50.660 That Krista
01:01:51.320 Freeland was
01:01:51.840 The dragon
01:01:52.260 Slayer and
01:01:53.220 Now she's
01:01:54.900 Being passed
01:01:55.580 Over in
01:01:56.820 Most of the
01:01:57.200 Polling you've
01:01:57.660 Seen for
01:01:58.460 Carney I
01:01:59.600 Think that
01:02:00.080 Though Carney
01:02:00.940 Incarnates what
01:02:02.060 People in
01:02:03.480 The liberal
01:02:03.780 Party anyway
01:02:04.380 And voters
01:02:05.120 I think in
01:02:05.520 General often
01:02:06.200 Look for in
01:02:06.840 Times of
01:02:07.200 Crisis it's
01:02:07.960 Someone who
01:02:08.400 Is stable
01:02:09.120 Right someone
01:02:10.020 Who is not
01:02:11.240 Going to be
01:02:11.720 A surprise
01:02:12.300 Now the
01:02:12.620 Question is
01:02:13.120 His political
01:02:13.620 Instinct and
01:02:14.340 That is
01:02:14.780 Absolutely
01:02:15.180 Colleagues are
01:02:15.700 Right it's
01:02:16.040 Like we don't
01:02:16.460 Know he could
01:02:16.980 Be a surprise
01:02:17.480 In a bad
01:02:17.860 Way we don't
01:02:18.340 Know but we
01:02:19.820 Do know from
01:02:20.280 His past
01:02:20.640 Performance he
01:02:21.300 Incarnates that
01:02:21.980 Sort of
01:02:22.320 Stable you
01:02:24.280 Know I'm
01:02:24.760 Not I'm
01:02:25.240 Not Donald
01:02:25.780 Trump I'm a
01:02:26.880 Rational guy
01:02:27.640 You know I
01:02:29.440 Will be able
01:02:30.320 To represent
01:02:31.740 Canada with a
01:02:32.380 Cool head at a
01:02:33.240 Time that we
01:02:33.800 Need that it's
01:02:34.640 Kind of like the
01:02:35.120 Pandemic right
01:02:36.160 And during the
01:02:37.700 Pandemic too
01:02:38.240 People turn to
01:02:38.880 The government
01:02:39.240 They turn to
01:02:39.800 The government
01:02:40.060 They wanted
01:02:40.480 Stability they
01:02:41.140 Wanted they just
01:02:42.400 They're afraid and
01:02:44.180 When people are
01:02:45.240 Afraid they're less
01:02:46.000 Likely to want to
01:02:46.680 Change right and
01:02:47.980 So that's where the
01:02:48.580 Conservatives I
01:02:49.420 Think where Carney
01:02:50.300 Has an advantage
01:02:50.880 Because he's
01:02:51.440 Inheriting a
01:02:51.960 Government people
01:02:52.460 Didn't love
01:02:53.000 That's true but
01:02:54.020 At the same time
01:02:54.560 It represents an
01:02:55.260 Institutional stability
01:02:56.200 He represents
01:02:57.080 Institutional stability
01:02:58.360 Banker you know
01:02:59.320 And that could be
01:03:01.260 Appealing to people
01:03:01.940 And I think they're
01:03:03.120 Also going to
01:03:03.480 Project on him
01:03:04.160 What they want
01:03:04.740 Because they don't
01:03:05.540 Fully know him but
01:03:06.360 They do know what
01:03:07.980 The Conservatives are
01:03:08.700 And if they are
01:03:09.280 Worried about their
01:03:10.160 The way they
01:03:11.100 Handle things they
01:03:12.160 Will project onto
01:03:13.020 The Liberals what
01:03:14.260 They think they
01:03:14.820 Would do because
01:03:15.580 Carney's a bit of
01:03:16.160 A blank slate to
01:03:16.800 Many of them
01:03:17.240 Hours of things to
01:03:19.040 Think on this
01:03:19.820 Morning
01:03:20.180 Tasha Garrett and
01:03:21.220 Warren Kinsella
01:03:21.700 Carl Belanger
01:03:22.220 Thank you so much
01:03:22.980 Once again for your
01:03:23.620 Time and your
01:03:24.060 Thoughts have a
01:03:24.800 Great Sunday
01:03:25.400 Thank you
01:03:26.360 Super Bowl Sunday
01:03:29.560 Oh boy how things
01:03:31.100 Have changed in the

01:03:32.300 Is Carl Belanger
01:03:32.880 President of
01:03:33.360 Attraction Strategies

01:03:51.900 Bang bang
01:03:53.460 Stick the lead up in the van
01:03:57.380 Coming down is the worst
01:04:00.920 If the drug

01:04:21.280 Don't cause the scene
01:04:23.520 That's the key
01:04:24.740 It's like a drug that takes control
01:04:28.180 Mechanical clothes without a soul

01:04:46.960 And the people
01:04:47.000 Every day
01:04:48.660 Are building walls
01:04:50.620 And tripping away
01:04:51.960 Keep the volume
01:04:53.800 And the picture the same
01:04:55.380 Step out of line
01:04:57.180 And they'll get your name

01:05:31.020 In the van
01:05:32.740 Coming down
01:05:34.860 Is the worst

01:05:57.200 This is the Ben Mulrooney Show
01:05:59.640 Thank you very much for joining us
01:06:01.280 And let's just jump right in
01:06:02.840 Because I'm so pleased
01:06:04.300 To have these guests back on the show
01:06:05.640 Please say hello to Warren Kinsella
01:06:07.340 Former Special Advisor
01:06:08.240 Dejan Kretzian
01:06:08.920 And CEO of the Daisy Group
01:06:10.060 Welcome back Warren
01:06:10.840 Hey my friend
01:06:12.200 And let's say hi to Anthony Koch
01:06:14.060 Managing Principal at AK Strategies
01:06:15.820 And former National Campaign Spokesperson
01:06:17.860 For Pierre Polyev
01:06:18.620 Welcome back Anthony
01:06:19.720 Thanks for having me on
01:06:21.240 Okay so we're talking tariffs
01:06:22.840 We're talking like
01:06:23.580 What happened yesterday
01:06:24.840 I think that's
01:06:25.520 That's the level set
01:06:26.800 Right
01:06:27.060 Canada and Mexico
01:06:28.480 Got 30 day reprieves
01:06:29.860 But the question I have
01:06:31.040 For both of you
01:06:31.620 And Warren you can go first
01:06:32.740 Who capitulated here
01:06:34.320 Was
01:06:34.620 Was Trump always playing
01:06:36.000 A game of chicken
01:06:36.660 Or
01:06:37.240 Did he
01:06:38.300 Was he surprised
01:06:39.280 By the blowback he got
01:06:40.200 That's a really good question
01:06:42.800 There's a lot of speculation
01:06:43.720 About that this morning
01:06:44.900 And my answer is
01:06:46.560 I actually don't know
01:06:47.820 I mean the markets tanked
01:06:50.060 When they opened
01:06:51.420 And then Mexico announced
01:06:53.340 That they'd been giving
01:06:54.200 A 30 day reprieve
01:06:55.660 And the markets recovered
01:06:57.240 So you know
01:06:58.720 Did Trump look at that
01:06:59.980 Because the one thing
01:07:00.580 We know he does listen to
01:07:02.080 And pay attention to
01:07:03.020 Is the markets
01:07:03.700 Did he look at that
01:07:04.860 And say
01:07:05.220 Geez maybe
01:07:05.920 I've gone too far here
01:07:07.580 I need to recalibrate
01:07:08.960 Because at the end of the day
01:07:10.860 If you look at
01:07:11.660 What Mexico and Canada
01:07:13.200 Agreed to
01:07:14.080 And I've now seen
01:07:15.300 Plenty of evidence of this
01:07:16.640 They basically agreed
01:07:18.740 To do something
01:07:19.360 That they were both
01:07:20.240 Already doing
01:07:21.160 With respect to
01:07:22.780 Either deploying
01:07:23.840 Or having deployed
01:07:25.560 In the case of Mexico
01:07:27.060 Troops to the border
01:07:28.640 To deal with
01:07:29.300 The fentanyl issue
01:07:30.740 So like
01:07:31.820 I don't know
01:07:32.480 What Trump won
01:07:33.880 If his objective
01:07:35.340 Was to
01:07:36.460 Show everybody
01:07:37.820 That we are
01:07:38.500 Under his
01:07:39.340 His heel
01:07:40.280 I think he probably
01:07:41.580 Accomplished that
01:07:42.480 In terms of
01:07:43.260 Getting what he wanted
01:07:44.360 On the fentanyl front
01:07:45.320 I'm not so sure
01:07:46.220 Anthony
01:07:46.980 What do you think?
01:07:48.940 So it is weird
01:07:50.280 Because Trump
01:07:51.200 Is a master showman
01:07:52.380 And he's also
01:07:53.300 I guess
01:07:53.680 Engaging in what we call
01:07:54.720 Mad King diplomacy
01:07:55.900 But he does this
01:07:56.760 He did it in his first term
01:07:58.040 And he's starting
01:07:58.540 Way out of the gate
01:07:59.240 In his second term
01:07:59.900 Where he basically
01:08:00.960 Manufactures a crisis
01:08:02.680 So that he can then
01:08:04.300 Deliver some sort of
01:08:05.620 Solution to it
01:08:06.520 Whether real or imagined
01:08:07.820 And he can maintain
01:08:09.260 This perception
01:08:10.100 Of being the ultimate
01:08:11.320 Deal maker
01:08:12.040 But like Warren said
01:08:13.720 Very little changed
01:08:15.400 Mexico basically
01:08:16.500 Re-upped commitments
01:08:17.540 That they effectively
01:08:18.360 Had already made
01:08:19.320 In Canada
01:08:20.240 There was some
01:08:21.000 New material
01:08:21.680 So you see
01:08:22.400 Canada is now
01:08:23.100 Going to join
01:08:23.640 The United States
01:08:24.340 In declaring
01:08:24.980 Drug cartels
01:08:26.480 As terrorist
01:08:26.940 Organizations
01:08:27.760 But in terms
01:08:28.900 Of border patrolling
01:08:29.920 And stuff like that
01:08:30.700 There's a new
01:08:31.120 Joint task force
01:08:32.240 There's a couple
01:08:32.720 Things there
01:08:33.200 But even in terms
01:08:34.000 Of funding
01:08:34.560 The 1.3 billion
01:08:36.300 Dollars on border
01:08:37.360 Security
01:08:38.220 Which I believe
01:08:38.900 Is over the course
01:08:39.500 Of five or six years
01:08:40.580 That was already
01:08:41.560 Announced by
01:08:42.180 Prime Minister Trudeau
01:08:43.060 A few months ago
01:08:43.900 So that's not new
01:08:44.800 But it's being
01:08:45.440 Made out to be
01:08:46.260 As if this was
01:08:46.780 This big concession
01:08:47.620 That Trump had
01:08:48.260 Extracted
01:08:48.880 But it is important
01:08:50.020 For people to note
01:08:50.900 That we still have
01:08:52.420 Like this is not over
01:08:53.280 No
01:08:53.560 We're going to go
01:08:54.700 Through this all over
01:08:55.520 Again in 30 days
01:08:56.700 So there's still
01:08:58.020 Probably more things
01:08:59.080 That they're going
01:08:59.480 To try to extract
01:09:00.300 From us
01:09:00.780 But in the meantime
01:09:01.920 Yeah not really
01:09:03.580 The great deal
01:09:04.900 That Trump was looking for
01:09:06.080 Well let's look at this
01:09:07.520 From a different angle
01:09:08.260 Now and let's look
01:09:09.100 At it as sort of
01:09:10.020 The end of the symphony
01:09:11.980 That has been the
01:09:13.000 Political career
01:09:13.820 Of Justin Trudeau
01:09:15.040 You know he was
01:09:16.280 He was going out
01:09:17.120 Quietly
01:09:17.960 And then this happened
01:09:20.060 And he came out
01:09:21.500 Listen we didn't get
01:09:22.900 Hit with tariffs
01:09:23.520 So that's a win
01:09:24.360 For Justin Trudeau
01:09:25.360 And I wonder
01:09:26.760 If this is
01:09:27.480 If this is going
01:09:28.840 To change anything
01:09:30.260 In the way that
01:09:30.880 We think about him
01:09:31.740 And I also wonder
01:09:33.060 If it's going to
01:09:33.820 Change anything
01:09:34.560 For how we look
01:09:36.400 At the liberals
01:09:36.980 Going into the next election
01:09:38.420 So Warren back to you
01:09:39.420 It really reminded me
01:09:41.660 Of Rudy Giuliani
01:09:43.040 And bear with me here
01:09:44.480 As I kind of
01:09:45.240 Explain the comparison
01:09:46.400 You know when
01:09:47.380 When 9-11 happened
01:09:49.100 Just before
01:09:50.100 Giuliani was
01:09:51.440 Incredibly unpopular
01:09:52.720 In New York City
01:09:53.460 He's going through
01:09:54.000 A nasty divorce
01:09:54.940 He's had all kinds
01:09:55.800 Of scandals
01:09:56.480 You know people
01:09:57.400 Couldn't wait
01:09:57.980 To see the end of him
01:09:59.080 And then 9-11 hit
01:10:00.760 He became America's mayor
01:10:02.360 And he became
01:10:03.300 One of the most loved
01:10:04.620 Figures in the world
01:10:06.020 Not just in the United States
01:10:07.320 Because he was so courageous
01:10:08.900 And strong
01:10:10.080 Trudeau
01:10:11.280 It kind of is
01:10:12.940 Analogous to that
01:10:13.900 I don't think anybody
01:10:14.520 Loves him per se
01:10:15.660 But you know
01:10:16.820 The polling I've seen
01:10:17.900 And certainly my own gut
01:10:19.120 Have told me
01:10:19.920 That people feel like
01:10:21.640 He did a good job
01:10:22.900 As good a job
01:10:24.020 As he could do
01:10:24.600 In very difficult circumstances
01:10:26.160 What it means
01:10:27.620 For his future
01:10:28.420 While Giuliani
01:10:29.300 Went back to scandal
01:10:30.500 And getting into
01:10:31.580 All kinds of trouble
01:10:32.360 So he's not so loved
01:10:33.360 Anymore
01:10:33.940 I guess
01:10:34.680 You know
01:10:35.060 Does Trudeau
01:10:35.840 Do what prime ministers
01:10:37.040 Usually do
01:10:37.820 Like Harper and Christian
01:10:38.920 Head off to the lecture circuit
01:10:40.900 And write his memoirs
01:10:42.400 And kind of keeps quiet
01:10:43.420 About current affairs
01:10:44.260 That's what I'd advise him to do
01:10:46.000 But I think I'd be
01:10:46.960 The last guy
01:10:47.600 He'd listen to
01:10:48.320 For advice
01:10:49.200 Anthony
01:10:50.120 What do you think
01:10:50.880 Is he so past
01:10:52.660 His expiration date
01:10:53.540 That it doesn't matter
01:10:54.360 Or is this
01:10:55.360 Is this a
01:10:56.600 Relative high point
01:10:58.640 For him
01:10:59.520 I think we gotta
01:11:01.020 See what happens
01:11:01.720 In 30 days
01:11:02.500 But in any case
01:11:03.820 I'd say
01:11:04.360 That beyond this
01:11:05.520 Being a good thing
01:11:06.180 For Justin Trudeau
01:11:06.980 Or a bad thing
01:11:07.460 For Justin Trudeau
01:11:08.080 I think yesterday
01:11:08.740 Was mostly a good thing
01:11:09.980 For Canada
01:11:10.500 I think a lot of people
01:11:11.960 Underestimate
01:11:12.740 Just how many
01:11:13.540 Canadian jobs
01:11:14.540 And how much
01:11:15.160 Canadian prosperity
01:11:16.140 Relies upon
01:11:17.240 Our relatively
01:11:18.740 Free access
01:11:19.620 To the American market
01:11:20.780 And I'm a partisan guy
01:11:23.400 People accuse me
01:11:24.320 Of it all the time
01:11:24.800 It's fair
01:11:25.220 A lot of us
01:11:25.800 In this game
01:11:26.220 Are partisan people
01:11:27.080 But at the end
01:11:28.000 Of the day
01:11:28.460 I'm a Canada first guy
01:11:30.040 Also in terms of
01:11:30.980 How I want to see
01:11:32.080 A relationship
01:11:32.620 With the United States
01:11:33.580 And I want
01:11:34.380 The Liberal government
01:11:35.520 To have as much success
01:11:36.620 As humanly possible
01:11:37.940 In the meantime
01:11:38.780 When dealing
01:11:39.720 With the United States
01:11:40.740 So there's a lot
01:11:41.680 Of investment dollars
01:11:42.480 On the line
01:11:42.960 I know
01:11:43.460 I barely slept
01:11:44.620 The last few days
01:11:45.460 My clients are freaking out
01:11:46.880 This was a big thing
01:11:48.200 And I'm happy
01:11:48.920 That at least
01:11:50.260 We get 30 days
01:11:50.940 Of reprieve
01:11:51.420 But that uncertainty
01:11:52.580 Hasn't gone away
01:11:53.560 And I hope
01:11:55.000 We're not going
01:11:55.800 Through a six month
01:11:56.760 Period of just
01:11:57.600 Repeated 30 day delays
01:11:58.920 Where they continue
01:11:59.780 To try to get
01:12:00.380 New extractions
01:12:01.080 Out of us
01:12:01.520 Anthony I'm going to
01:12:02.320 Stick with you
01:12:02.920 On this next one
01:12:03.980 Because we're talking
01:12:04.640 About Pierre Polyev
01:12:05.680 It seemed like
01:12:06.480 Over the weekend
01:12:07.040 It was a tale
01:12:07.540 Of two speeches
01:12:08.200 You had Justin Trudeau
01:12:09.160 Speaking on Saturday
01:12:10.220 And then you had
01:12:10.660 Pierre sort of
01:12:12.060 Laying out his vision
01:12:13.680 For how to deal
01:12:15.900 With Donald Trump
01:12:16.540 And it seemed to me
01:12:18.520 That he
01:12:19.780 That he had
01:12:21.360 A few things
01:12:22.040 That he needed
01:12:22.380 To accomplish
01:12:22.820 And one of them
01:12:23.500 Was to blunt
01:12:24.660 The future
01:12:25.660 Attacks that were
01:12:26.820 Going to come
01:12:27.120 In a political
01:12:28.180 Campaign
01:12:28.620 That he is
01:12:29.400 The maple
01:12:31.160 MAGA
01:12:31.640 He came out
01:12:32.580 Very forcefully
01:12:33.260 Against Donald Trump
01:12:34.360 Very much in favor
01:12:35.480 Of Canada
01:12:36.480 Of Canada
01:12:36.500 And Canadian
01:12:36.940 Interests
01:12:37.500 And I
01:12:38.740 Wondered
01:12:39.540 When you saw
01:12:40.480 That speech
01:12:41.080 Did you see
01:12:41.560 The same thing
01:12:42.140 Well 100%
01:12:43.920 But I also think
01:12:44.960 Again
01:12:45.740 There's a lot
01:12:46.380 Of weirdos
01:12:47.300 On Twitter
01:12:47.860 That are Canadians
01:12:49.240 Who want to
01:12:49.860 I said this
01:12:50.580 On my Twitter
01:12:51.120 I said
01:12:51.400 There's a certain
01:12:52.420 Kind of Canadian
01:12:53.280 Conservative
01:12:53.960 That worships
01:12:55.480 Donald Trump
01:12:56.200 And I say
01:12:57.080 They are mentally
01:12:57.800 And spiritually
01:12:58.520 Colonized by the
01:12:59.580 United States
01:13:00.240 Much in the same
01:13:01.100 Way that you have
01:13:01.800 A lot of Canadian
01:13:02.680 Liberals who
01:13:03.360 Exclusively consume
01:13:04.460 Their news
01:13:04.860 From CNN
01:13:05.500 And frame
01:13:06.360 Any and all
01:13:07.060 Canadian issues
01:13:07.840 From the lens
01:13:08.460 Of the American
01:13:09.040 Democrat
01:13:09.580 Cultural issue
01:13:10.360 Of the day
01:13:10.780 In the United States
01:13:11.580 That exists
01:13:12.620 On both ends
01:13:13.320 Of the political
01:13:13.820 Spectrum
01:13:14.380 But you know
01:13:15.400 Mr. Poliev
01:13:16.120 Has revived the quote
01:13:17.240 From one of our
01:13:18.440 Greatest Prime Ministers
01:13:19.240 As far as I'm concerned
01:13:20.200 Sir Wilfrid Laurier
01:13:21.120 In saying
01:13:21.500 Canada first
01:13:22.160 Canada last
01:13:22.820 Canada always
01:13:23.700 And at the end
01:13:24.640 Of the day
01:13:25.020 Whether we're
01:13:25.440 Liberals
01:13:25.800 Whether we're
01:13:26.240 Conservatives
01:13:26.840 We love our country
01:13:27.720 And we want to
01:13:28.600 Remain a country
01:13:29.280 And we want to
01:13:29.940 Get the best deal
01:13:30.600 For Canadians
01:13:31.220 Well let's say
01:13:31.720 You know what
01:13:32.020 I'm going to
01:13:32.680 Stick a pin
01:13:34.020 In that
01:13:34.340 Because I want
01:13:34.700 To go
01:13:34.960 To the Liberal
01:13:35.840 That we have
01:13:36.520 With us
01:13:37.060 Today
01:13:37.480 And if you
01:13:39.240 Were advising
01:13:39.880 The Liberals
01:13:40.580 Going into
01:13:40.940 The next election
01:13:41.620 Warren
01:13:41.980 I wonder
01:13:43.320 Whether there's
01:13:43.840 Danger in
01:13:44.640 Campaigning
01:13:45.140 Against Donald
01:13:45.980 Trump
01:13:46.200 Which has
01:13:46.480 Really been
01:13:46.780 Their stock
01:13:47.240 In trade
01:13:47.720 Because we
01:13:48.800 Now know
01:13:49.360 He's listening
01:13:50.100 To what's
01:13:50.460 Going on
01:13:50.840 Up here
01:13:51.200 Yeah
01:13:52.860 And that's
01:13:53.340 Why I
01:13:53.740 Actually was
01:13:54.700 Nervous
01:13:55.100 About all
01:13:55.600 The hallelujahs
01:13:57.460 That were
01:13:57.640 Going around
01:13:58.180 Social media
01:13:59.160 Last night
01:13:59.820 Saying we
01:14:00.220 Won and we
01:14:00.940 Fooled him
01:14:01.700 And he
01:14:02.320 Got played
01:14:03.040 Because we
01:14:03.760 All know
01:14:04.240 That you
01:14:04.840 Know when
01:14:05.300 Trump sees
01:14:06.060 That when
01:14:06.960 He sees
01:14:07.500 Somebody getting
01:14:08.380 Coverage like
01:14:09.160 That he
01:14:10.080 Lashes out
01:14:11.040 So I would
01:14:12.160 Caution all of
01:14:13.000 My Canadian
01:14:13.820 Friends to
01:14:14.600 Temper their
01:14:15.340 Enthusiasm for
01:14:16.540 The result
01:14:17.060 Because you know
01:14:17.720 The sentence
01:14:18.220 Was commuted
01:14:19.060 Somewhat but
01:14:20.140 It wasn't you
01:14:21.040 Know we
01:14:21.260 Didn't get a
01:14:21.740 Pardon right
01:14:22.580 As Anthony
01:14:23.400 Has said
01:14:23.880 We got 30
01:14:25.020 Days from now
01:14:25.960 We're going to
01:14:26.920 Be in it again
01:14:27.480 And the
01:14:27.820 Problem we've
01:14:28.480 Got with
01:14:28.900 This guy
01:14:29.380 And you
01:14:29.680 Know full
01:14:29.960 Disclosure
01:14:30.380 I work
01:14:30.780 For Kamala
01:14:31.560 And I
01:14:31.820 Worked for
01:14:32.300 For Hillary
01:14:33.380 And the
01:14:34.320 Only thing I
01:14:34.900 Learned about
01:14:35.400 Him is he's
01:14:36.240 Predictably
01:14:36.860 Unpredictable
01:14:37.660 So you
01:14:38.900 Know he
01:14:39.580 Said it
01:14:40.040 Was about
01:14:40.740 Banks
01:14:41.540 He said
01:14:42.220 It was
01:14:42.760 About fentanyl
01:14:44.760 He said
01:14:45.260 It was about
01:14:45.840 Illegal aliens
01:14:46.840 And and
01:14:47.960 He threw
01:14:48.220 Dairy in there
01:14:49.320 As well
01:14:49.680 Dairy I
01:14:50.800 Forgot about
01:14:51.200 That one
01:14:51.720 And then of
01:14:52.140 Course he
01:14:52.500 You know
01:14:52.720 Wants to be
01:14:53.060 The 51st
01:14:53.720 State
01:14:54.020 So you
01:14:54.720 Don't we
01:14:55.200 Don't know
01:14:55.580 What we're
01:14:56.000 Going to get
01:14:56.420 In 30
01:14:56.860 Days but
01:14:57.540 We're going
01:14:57.760 To get
01:14:57.940 Something
01:14:58.260 The thing
01:14:58.700 That worries
01:14:59.240 Me to
01:15:00.260 Answer your
01:15:00.700 Question I
01:15:01.340 Apologize for
01:15:02.120 Taking so
01:15:03.180 Long to do
01:15:03.640 It
01:15:03.740 You got
01:15:04.000 You got
01:15:04.300 30 seconds
01:15:05.080 Warren
01:15:05.420 The liberal
01:15:05.940 Party is not
01:15:06.420 Going to be
01:15:06.640 Led by
01:15:06.980 Justin Trudeau
01:15:07.900 At that point
01:15:08.480 It's going to
01:15:08.740 Be led by
01:15:09.160 A guy who
01:15:09.460 Doesn't even
01:15:09.780 Have a seat
01:15:10.280 In the
01:15:10.480 House of
01:15:10.820 Commons
01:15:11.200 Looks like
01:15:11.840 Mark Carney
01:15:12.320 Is going to
01:15:12.660 Win
01:15:12.860 What legitimacy
01:15:13.900 Is he going
01:15:14.800 To have
01:15:15.260 To pick up
01:15:16.020 The phone
01:15:16.460 And speak
01:15:16.900 To Donald
01:15:17.320 Trump
01:15:17.620 That I
01:15:18.200 Think is
01:15:18.500 A real
01:15:18.780 Worry
01:15:19.100 Warren
01:15:19.680 Kinsella
01:15:20.100 Anthony
01:15:20.420 Kosh
01:15:20.700 Really appreciate
01:15:21.600 You coming
01:15:22.220 On and giving
01:15:22.620 Us a state
01:15:23.080 Of play
01:15:23.400 Thanks
01:15:24.900 Thanks guys
01:15:46.460 She got me
01:15:54.260 Playing in
01:15:55.060 A home
01:15:55.560 To
01:15:55.820 She got
01:15:56.740 A little
01:15:57.640 Play
01:15:58.080 But I'm
01:15:58.600 Not
01:15:58.960 Involved
01:15:59.620 She got
01:16:00.180 A nasty
01:16:01.080 Habit
01:16:01.560 Pretty
01:16:01.920 Locked
01:16:02.520 Up
01:16:02.740 On a
01:16:03.560 Phone
01:16:04.160 I can't
01:16:07.840 Get nothing
01:16:08.340 If I
01:16:08.880 Fall
01:16:09.180 Overboard
01:16:09.960 I never
01:16:11.340 Thought
01:16:11.700 That I
01:16:12.120 Would
01:16:12.380 End
01:16:12.580 Up
01:16:12.780 On
01:16:12.960 Sure
01:16:13.340 You're
01:16:14.460 My
01:16:14.700 Addiction
01:16:15.220 And I
01:16:15.820 Only
01:16:16.100 One
01:16:16.380 More
01:16:16.760 Now
01:16:17.060 It's
01:16:17.260 Time
01:16:17.620 To
01:16:17.840 Feel
01:16:18.220 Something
01:16:18.700 Or
01:16:18.940 Time
01:16:19.300 To
01:16:19.540 Feel
01:16:20.000 Nothing
01:16:20.380 At
01:16:20.760 All
01:16:20.920 She
01:16:21.260 Got
01:16:21.520 Me
01:16:21.680 Praying
01:16:22.140 But I'm
01:16:22.840 Not
01:16:23.220 Believing
01:16:24.020 Another
01:16:25.000 Stroke
01:16:25.620 That I'm
01:16:26.260 Not
01:16:26.660 Receiving
01:16:27.540 She
01:16:28.120 Got
01:16:28.400 Me
01:16:28.560 Staying
01:16:29.260 When
01:16:29.720 I
01:16:30.080 Was
01:16:30.320 Leaving
01:16:30.880 Hey
01:16:31.760 She
01:16:36.680 Got
01:16:37.000 Me
01:16:37.140 Praying
01:16:37.680 In
01:16:37.900 A hotel
01:16:38.500 Bar
01:16:39.040 She
01:16:39.260 Got
01:16:39.620 A
01:16:40.120 Little
01:16:40.480 Play
01:16:40.940 But
01:16:41.280 I'm
01:16:41.440 Not
01:16:41.820 Involved
01:16:42.480 She
01:16:42.680 Got
01:16:43.020 A
01:16:43.280 Pretty
01:16:43.920 Colors
01:16:44.440 But
01:16:44.720 I'm
01:16:44.880 Locked
01:16:45.380 Monochrome
01:16:47.100 I
01:16:50.420 Can't
01:16:50.700 Get
01:16:50.860 Nothing
01:16:51.200 If
01:16:51.560 I
01:16:51.720 Fall
01:16:52.020 Over
01:16:52.360 I
01:16:53.860 Never
01:16:54.200 Thought
01:16:54.560 That
01:16:54.800 I
01:16:54.980 Would
01:16:55.240 End
01:16:55.440 Up
01:16:55.620 For
01:16:55.820 Sure
01:16:56.200 You're
01:16:57.340 My
01:16:57.560 Addiction
01:16:58.080 And I
01:16:58.660 Only
01:16:58.940 Want
01:16:59.220 More
01:16:59.620 Now
01:16:59.900 It's
01:17:00.120 Time
01:17:00.500 To
