00:00:00.000 It's the Kinsella cast starring Warren Kinsella.
00:00:30.000 It's like things are pretty grim.
00:00:32.680 God, following in the wake of last week's show, where I had John Kretzian, I've got another big name, Wasab Hassan Youssef.
00:00:42.600 He is the son of Hamas.
00:00:44.860 He's the son of one of the founders of Hamas.
00:00:47.360 He was a member of Hamas, and he left that world and spoke to me exclusively a little while ago.
00:00:54.580 So I'm going to have some of our discussion for you.
00:00:57.620 I thought it was timely in light of the terrible events in Israel this week with the return of the Bebas family, the mom and the two sons.
00:01:10.920 And it was just horrible, and so I wanted to get some insight into the minds of the monsters behind all of that.
00:01:19.080 So I've got Mr. Youssef coming up.
00:01:21.920 Also Brian Lilly, where I put a tough question to him.
00:01:24.860 The reader wanted to know if Brian supports Donald Trump, so I asked Brian the question, and he gave an answer.
00:01:33.600 Then we've got Tasha Carradine, Carl Belonger and I, Greg Brady, Ben Maroney and I.
00:01:39.860 Lots of stuff going on, and some great music.
00:01:43.400 So given the Made in Canada requirement these days, I'm trying to do it on the music front too.
00:01:49.760 So I've got Eric Controller, who had the pride of Halifax, Nova Scotia, where my daughter lives.
00:01:56.440 And they have got this great song called Cheap Pop I'm going to lead off with.
00:02:02.860 And of course, Halifax produced the boys who won us the big game this week against the Yanks.
00:02:08.900 So thank you to Halifax.
00:02:10.700 I've got from Ottawa, Ontario, The Creeps with The Bottom of Things, another great song.
00:02:15.900 Another Canadian connection, but not necessarily connection, because they're from Austin, Texas,
00:02:22.020 where a member of Shit From Hell is this week, is Hex Dispenser.
00:02:27.080 And the reason why I was attracted to them was the cover of their record.
00:02:31.460 The cover of their record, I was like, oh, I recognize that style.
00:02:34.320 And it was my friend Tom Bagley from Calgary, Alberta, who designed the cover of the first SFH record.
00:02:41.680 And so I've got Hex Dispenser doing Forrest Ray Coulson with Tom Bagley on the cover.
00:02:50.300 Then I've got The Methadones from Chicago.
00:02:52.260 They're not Canadian, but it's a good song.
00:02:54.460 And then Keepy Goley from Sacramento, When the Kids Go, Go, Go Crazy.
00:03:01.800 So lots of stuff, lots of good music, lots of good talking.
00:03:05.500 And I'm grateful that you are here.
00:03:10.180 And as a starting proposition, I am grateful my parents aren't alive to see any of this.
00:03:18.400 As I mentioned, babies and mothers abducted and murdered for the sin of being Jewish and much
00:03:25.040 of the world shrugging, monsters disguised as men, spraying schools and places of worship
00:03:31.680 with bullets, swastikas and symbols of death being paraded through places where ordinary people live
00:03:37.760 with impunity, science being denied, democracy being denuded, ignorance being celebrated.
00:03:43.840 And now, the most powerful man on earth in just one month, upending Western civilization, demonizing
00:03:52.220 allies, and forming a satanic alliance with the fascist Russian regime.
00:03:59.380 Like, it's a cliche to say we're living through history.
00:04:02.440 But this?
00:04:03.360 Like this?
00:04:04.100 This feels like what my parents must have felt, observing the rise of Nazism and Hitler
00:04:10.260 and wondering if it was ever going to get better.
00:04:13.000 Wonder if it actually could all be happening.
00:04:16.960 Now, as then, it's probably a waste of time to speculate the motivations of madmen.
00:04:22.740 Is Donald Trump mentally ill?
00:04:25.020 Is he fashioning a dictatorship?
00:04:27.840 Is Putin blackmailing him with some decade-old footage of a golden shower taken
00:04:34.040 one night at the presidential suite at Moscow's Ritz-Carlton Hotel?
00:04:38.600 We'll never know.
00:04:39.760 The same sorts of questions were asked about Hitler and his ilk, and no one had the answer.
00:04:44.100 So then, as now, politicians and pundits try to defend the indefensible.
00:04:49.700 And all of us are familiar with the symptoms of that disease, asserting that Donald Trump
00:04:54.140 is right on borders, or fentanyl, or dairy products, or banking, or military spending,
00:04:58.520 and whatever lie he conjures up to justify his sociopathy.
00:05:05.040 And as long as he has the right ideology, these Vichy Canadians believe, Trump's thuggery
00:05:10.420 is justifiable.
00:05:12.180 Except it isn't.
00:05:14.020 Not ever.
00:05:15.660 Three weeks ago this week, Russia invaded Ukraine, and Brian Lilly, who's on this week's show,
00:05:20.860 wrote that week, quote,
00:05:22.980 In the coming days, Ukrainians will find out that the Western allies they've been turning towards
00:05:26.940 for more than two decades will help them, or once again leave them to fend for themselves.
00:05:32.080 The people of Ukraine deserve better than this, end quote.
00:05:35.480 They did, and they do.
00:05:37.180 And in the intervening three years, we did not send troops, but Canada, the United States,
00:05:41.660 and Europe delivered arms to Ukraine, offered it financial lifelines, hit Putin's regime
00:05:47.440 with tough economic sanctions, and all of it was starting to take a toll.
00:05:50.920 Like, by the fall of 2024, Russian troop losses were mounting, nearly 2,000 in one day in
00:05:57.260 November, and as the Economist wrote in that same month, the war in Ukraine is straining
00:06:02.820 Russia's economy and society.
00:06:05.780 In November, Putin was granted a reprieve.
00:06:09.700 Donald Trump was elected to a second term, and he immediately got to work deconstructing
00:06:14.720 American democracy, gutting liberal trade relationships, and dismantling the Western
00:06:20.220 alliance of nations, and now absolving Russia.
00:06:24.660 As before, there are the useful idiots who always fool themselves into thinking that Trump
00:06:30.940 is fooling, that he wasn't serious about making Canada the 51st state, about using military
00:06:36.660 power against allies in Denmark and Panama, about turning Gaza into a resort, about declaring
00:06:43.340 economic war in every nation but Russia, that he was not going to cast off Ukraine and ally
00:06:51.080 himself with Russia.
00:06:53.220 But this week, Trump and his kleptocrats did just that and more.
00:06:58.400 Trump bald-faced lied and said that Ukraine had started the war, and then he posted this
00:07:03.740 online, quote, a dictator without elections, Zelensky better move fast or he's not going to have
00:07:09.040 a country left.
00:07:10.200 In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the war with Russia, and something
00:07:16.620 I'll admit only Trump, he capitalizes it, and the Trump administration can do, end quote.
00:07:23.140 It was fucking insane.
00:07:24.480 It read like something on the wall of an asylum.
00:07:26.860 John Bolton was Trump's national security advisor, and he called those words some of
00:07:33.440 the most shameful remarks ever made by a U.S. president.
00:07:36.620 Lindsey Graham, usually a sycophant for Trump, posted that when it comes to blame for the
00:07:42.960 Russian invasion of Ukraine, I blame Putin above all others.
00:07:46.680 But none of that matters now, or will.
00:07:50.460 A madman is on the loose, and words have never deterred him.
00:07:54.200 Our parents would find this all familiar.
00:07:57.760 They would reassure us that, in the end, evil usually fails.
00:08:02.440 Democracy and decency usually prevail.
00:08:06.060 But in the meantime, there will be blood.
00:08:09.160 Cheap pop world.
00:08:24.720 Cheap pop world.
00:08:27.560 Cheap pop world.
00:08:30.200 Cheap pop world.
00:08:31.300 Want to hear guitars explode.
00:08:34.360 Want to hear the track corrode.
00:08:37.160 Stereo is melting to the floor.
00:08:39.900 Cheap pop guy, gotta get low, yeah.
00:08:43.620 Cheap pop world.
00:08:46.360 Cheap pop world.
00:08:49.100 Cheap pop world.
00:08:51.940 Cheap pop world.
00:08:53.300 Put a dance to a broken drum.
00:08:56.100 Stomp around till the feet go numb.
00:08:58.260 Me and you start melting to the floor.
00:09:01.520 Cheap pop world.
00:09:01.800 Cheap pop world.
00:09:02.340 Yeah, we gotta get low, yeah.
00:09:03.860 Oh, yeah.
00:09:05.860 Oh, yeah.
00:09:06.620 Oh, yeah.
00:09:09.660 Oh, yeah.
00:09:13.600 Oh, yeah.
00:09:15.940 Oh, yeah.
00:09:18.080 Oh, yeah.
00:09:20.000 Oh, yeah.
00:09:22.480 Oh, yeah.
00:09:23.480 Oh, yeah.
00:09:25.440 I wanna hear guitars explode
00:09:36.160 I wanna hear the technical roll
00:09:38.920 Stereo is meltin' to the floor
00:09:41.580 Cheap pop guy, gotta get low, yeah
00:09:44.560 Cheap pop world
00:09:47.260 Cheap pop world
00:09:50.180 Cheap pop world
00:09:52.900 Cheap pop world
00:09:55.900 Cheap pop world
00:09:58.900 Cheap pop world
00:10:01.900 Cheap pop world
00:10:03.900 Cheap pop world
00:10:05.900 The first question is, how much importance did Hamas attach to propaganda before the 7th?
00:10:14.900 Was it always, because I've read the 1988 charter, and the written word is considered to be almost as important
00:10:21.900 as the military expression of its philosophy? How important is propaganda?
00:10:28.900 Well, it's indoctrination, it's not only propaganda, it's ideology
00:10:36.900 To reduce it to just propaganda
00:10:41.900 Propaganda, this is for the people on the outside
00:10:45.900 But Hamas relies on systematic indoctrination
00:10:52.900 In order to create very strong individuals
00:10:57.900 You know, who can actually fight to death
00:11:00.900 This type of indoctrination, training
00:11:05.900 is sophisticated
00:11:10.900 They don't just qualify anybody to lead
00:11:15.900 or be part of the movement
00:11:17.900 So this is where you need to pay attention
00:11:19.900 And by creating such models
00:11:23.900 They attract the masses
00:11:26.900 Towards false ideas of heroism
00:11:30.900 And freedom fighting
00:11:33.900 And sacrifice
00:11:36.900 Which through martyrdom
00:11:40.900 They inspire generations
00:11:49.900 Of those who want the glory in the afterlife
00:11:54.900 So, it's very, very sophisticated
00:11:57.900 And of course, Hamas relies on the propaganda of the victim
00:12:02.900 The victim narrative
00:12:05.900 The oppressed
00:12:07.900 The underdog
00:12:09.900 Who has the right to defend
00:12:12.900 Himself
00:12:14.900 Who's entitled for recognition
00:12:19.900 And legitimacy
00:12:21.900 That their violence is supposed to be acceptable
00:12:25.900 Etc
00:12:27.900 This is what the West buy
00:12:32.900 Under what's so called international law
00:12:36.900 Now, so that's the
00:12:39.900 So, after the 7th
00:12:41.900 These terrible crimes take place
00:12:44.900 1,200 people
00:12:45.900 Men, women, children, babies killed
00:12:47.900 250 people kidnapped
00:12:50.900 Terrible things take place
00:12:52.900 But in the West
00:12:53.900 Young people
00:12:54.900 So, Gen Z
00:12:56.900 From 18 to 24
00:12:58.900 Millennials
00:12:59.900 25 to 39
00:13:01.900 I mean, Canada
00:13:02.900 The United States
00:13:03.900 And Europe
00:13:04.900 Endorsed the actions
00:13:07.900 Of the perpetrators
00:13:08.900 Of the ones who committed the violence
00:13:10.900 Which is obviously
00:13:12.900 An indication of problems
00:13:13.900 With the educational system
00:13:15.900 As you've said
00:13:16.900 But also
00:13:17.900 The effectiveness of the propaganda
00:13:19.900 The information war
00:13:21.900 How much attention has Hamas paid
00:13:24.900 To that war
00:13:26.900 Since the 7th
00:13:27.900 Because it looks like
00:13:28.900 They're doing it well
00:13:29.900 Look, Hamas was just a trigger
00:13:33.900 You know
00:13:34.900 They started the flame
00:13:38.900 Which created this massive fire
00:13:43.900 But in reality
00:13:46.900 The ones who have been pushing
00:13:48.900 The global agendas
00:13:50.900 Of Palestinians
00:13:51.900 Are the Palestinian Authority
00:13:53.900 And the PLO
00:13:56.900 And the Muslims
00:13:58.900 Because of the religious dimension
00:14:02.900 Of this conflict
00:14:04.900 That should not be underestimated
00:14:06.900 The Muslims claim
00:14:11.900 That they are
00:14:12.900 The actual owners
00:14:14.900 Of the Holy Land
00:14:17.900 Not the Jewish people
00:14:19.900 So when you have
00:14:21.900 1.6 billion believers
00:14:24.900 Believers
00:14:25.900 Of this
00:14:27.900 False account
00:14:30.900 Of history
00:14:32.900 Then
00:14:34.900 Their machine
00:14:37.900 And their belief
00:14:39.900 Becomes true
00:14:40.900 To a certain degree
00:14:41.900 When you have
00:14:42.900 Hundreds
00:14:43.900 Of millions
00:14:44.900 Of people
00:14:45.900 Repeating
00:14:46.900 The narrative
00:14:47.900 That this is
00:14:48.900 When they say
00:14:49.900 This is Palestinian land
00:14:50.900 They refer to it
00:14:51.900 As actually
00:14:52.900 An Islamic land
00:14:53.900 Because there is
00:14:54.900 No difference
00:14:55.900 Palestine
00:14:56.900 Is only a device
00:14:58.900 And there is no
00:14:59.900 Islamic name
00:15:00.900 Of that land
00:15:02.900 So
00:15:03.900 Hence
00:15:04.900 Palestine
00:15:05.900 Came
00:15:06.900 To
00:15:07.900 Be the expression
00:15:08.900 Of the Islamic ambition
00:15:10.900 So anyway
00:15:11.900 The
00:15:13.900 This is not just
00:15:15.900 A
00:15:18.900 A systematic propaganda
00:15:20.900 As much as
00:15:21.900 It's
00:15:22.900 The
00:15:23.900 The big lie
00:15:25.900 Of
00:15:26.900 So many people
00:15:28.900 Of a majority of people
00:15:29.900 In the face
00:15:32.900 Of a very small minority
00:15:34.900 That is
00:15:35.900 15 million people
00:15:36.900 You take
00:15:37.900 15 million people
00:15:38.900 Even though
00:15:39.900 They have
00:15:40.900 The truth
00:15:41.900 To their side
00:15:42.900 History
00:15:43.900 Artifact
00:15:44.900 Archeology
00:15:46.900 Bibles
00:15:47.900 Holy Scripture
00:15:48.900 All the things
00:15:49.900 That name it
00:15:50.900 They have
00:15:51.900 All that
00:15:52.900 To their side
00:15:53.900 But they are
00:15:54.900 Still 15 million people
00:15:55.900 Then the other side
00:15:57.900 They have
00:15:58.900 Nothing
00:15:59.900 To their side
00:16:00.900 No facts
00:16:01.900 At all
00:16:02.900 But they have
00:16:03.900 A narrative
00:16:04.900 With a majority
00:16:05.900 Of people
00:16:06.900 Repeating it
00:16:07.900 Then it's already
00:16:08.900 They are winning
00:16:09.900 Now
00:16:10.900 If it was only
00:16:11.900 Democracy
00:16:12.900 They are going to win
00:16:13.900 Even though
00:16:14.900 They are absolutely
00:16:15.900 False
00:16:16.900 And this is
00:16:17.900 The situation
00:16:18.900 It's not
00:16:19.900 Their success
00:16:20.900 They are
00:16:21.900 The Jews
00:16:22.900 Outnumbered
00:16:23.900 And as you point out
00:16:26.900 They have been
00:16:27.900 So effective
00:16:28.900 At manipulating images
00:16:29.900 And words
00:16:30.900 On the internet
00:16:31.900 Yep
00:16:32.900 And obviously
00:16:33.900 They are assisted
00:16:34.900 By Russia
00:16:35.900 They are assisted
00:16:36.900 By China
00:16:37.900 They are assisted
00:16:38.900 By Iran
00:16:39.900 But they have become
00:16:40.900 Very sophisticated
00:16:41.900 At propagating lies
00:16:43.900 On the internet
00:16:44.900 And young people
00:16:45.900 In the west
00:16:46.900 Have become so
00:16:47.900 Susceptible to it
00:16:48.900 When you live
00:16:49.900 In the United States
00:16:50.900 Now
00:16:51.900 How is it
00:16:52.900 That young people
00:16:53.900 Have been sucked in
00:16:54.900 By these lies
00:16:55.900 Look
00:16:56.900 This is
00:16:57.900 A tragic
00:16:58.900 Situation
00:16:59.900 So first of all
00:17:01.900 We need to acknowledge
00:17:02.900 That what's happening
00:17:03.900 In Gaza
00:17:04.900 Is a tragedy
00:17:05.900 When
00:17:06.900 The collateral damage
00:17:07.900 Is huge
00:17:08.900 Even though
00:17:09.900 The numbers
00:17:10.900 Have been faked
00:17:11.900 But this is the first time
00:17:12.900 In
00:17:13.900 The modern history
00:17:15.900 We see
00:17:16.900 A war
00:17:17.900 On the social media
00:17:19.900 Where people
00:17:20.900 Being killed
00:17:21.900 Butchered
00:17:22.900 Annihilated
00:17:24.900 By
00:17:25.900 Bombs
00:17:26.900 We never experienced
00:17:28.900 This before
00:17:29.900 Even in World War
00:17:30.900 Two
00:17:31.900 Those who lived
00:17:32.900 Died
00:17:33.900 Or they came
00:17:34.900 To witness
00:17:35.900 But not
00:17:36.900 Everybody saw
00:17:37.900 It
00:17:38.900 So people
00:17:39.900 Have been driven
00:17:40.900 By very strong
00:17:41.900 Emotions
00:17:42.900 And that's
00:17:43.900 Understandable
00:17:44.900 To have
00:17:45.900 The anti-war
00:17:47.900 Notion
00:17:48.900 And we don't
00:17:49.900 Want to take that
00:17:50.900 Away
00:17:51.900 Because naturally
00:17:52.900 People should
00:17:53.900 Oppose
00:17:54.900 War
00:17:55.900 It's not
00:17:56.900 The natural
00:17:57.900 State
00:17:58.900 Now
00:17:59.900 Hamas
00:18:00.900 Capitalized
00:18:01.900 On
00:18:02.900 The
00:18:03.900 On the
00:18:04.900 Strategy
00:18:05.900 And since
00:18:06.900 This is not
00:18:08.900 The first war
00:18:09.900 With Gaza
00:18:10.900 They had
00:18:11.900 A feeling
00:18:12.900 They had
00:18:13.900 A sense
00:18:14.900 Of how
00:18:15.900 The public
00:18:16.900 Is going
00:18:17.900 To respond
00:18:18.900 And the
00:18:19.900 Global
00:18:20.900 Pressure
00:18:21.900 On
00:18:22.900 Israel
00:18:23.900 To
00:18:24.900 Surrender
00:18:25.900 They've
00:18:26.900 Done it
00:18:27.900 Before
00:18:28.900 And they
00:18:29.900 Succeeded
00:18:30.900 This time
00:18:31.900 They doubled
00:18:32.900 Down
00:18:33.900 Thinking
00:18:34.900 By taking hostages
00:18:35.900 Etc
00:18:36.900 Israel
00:18:37.900 Will come
00:18:38.900 To its knees
00:18:39.900 And declare
00:18:40.900 Surrender
00:18:41.900 The
00:18:42.900 Violence
00:18:43.900 Strategy
00:18:44.900 Of what's
00:18:45.900 So called
00:18:46.900 Resistance
00:18:47.900 Where
00:18:48.900 Violence
00:18:49.900 Becomes
00:18:50.900 Legitimized
00:18:51.900 And gets
00:18:52.900 Global
00:18:53.900 Recognition
00:18:54.900 As a
00:18:55.900 Resistance
00:18:56.900 Movement
00:18:57.900 This is what
00:18:58.900 Hamas wanted
00:18:59.900 To do
00:19:00.900 And
00:19:01.900 It's not like
00:19:02.900 You know
00:19:03.900 How they did
00:19:04.900 That
00:19:05.900 They just
00:19:06.900 Literally
00:19:07.900 Sacrificed
00:19:08.900 Thousands
00:19:09.900 Of
00:19:10.900 And
00:19:11.900 That's
00:19:12.900 Death
00:19:13.900 Culture
00:19:14.900 That
00:19:15.900 Is willing
00:19:16.900 To
00:19:17.900 Sacrifice
00:19:18.900 Children
00:19:19.900 For
00:19:20.900 Political
00:19:21.900 And Financial
00:19:22.900 Gain
00:19:23.900 Is something
00:19:24.900 That is not
00:19:25.900 Familiar
00:19:26.900 To the West
00:19:27.900 That some people
00:19:28.900 Are capable
00:19:29.900 Of doing
00:19:30.900 This
00:19:31.900 But
00:19:32.900 Hamas
00:19:33.900 Deliberately
00:19:34.900 Weaponized
00:19:35.900 The civilians
00:19:36.900 For this purpose
00:19:37.900 To get
00:19:38.900 Sympathy
00:19:39.900 Problem
00:19:40.900 Globally
00:19:41.900 So
00:19:42.900 The final
00:19:43.900 Question
00:19:44.900 I
00:19:45.900 Would
00:19:46.900 Have
00:19:47.900 Is
00:19:48.900 What
00:19:49.900 Do you feel
00:19:50.900 Needs to be
00:19:51.900 Done
00:19:52.900 To counter
00:19:53.900 This propaganda
00:19:54.900 War
00:19:55.900 That they are
00:19:56.900 Waging
00:19:57.900 Not just
00:19:58.900 On their own
00:19:59.900 to oppose that right what we need basically we need the facts was Palestine
00:20:11.340 ever a sovereign country was it a state was it an ethnic group or nation that
00:20:22.400 have been occupied or is it a new thing that happened after the establishment of
00:20:31.460 Israel with a violent approach to annihilate the state of Israel as a
00:20:41.240 condition to the establishment of Palestine as a replacement and if we get
00:20:51.140 to the root the roots of it we realize that Palestine stands for failure it's
00:21:00.140 a fancy it's non-existential and the Palestinian claim to be the indigenous
00:21:06.560 of the land in the face of colonialism that they have the right to fight against
00:21:12.260 occupation which is basically the main source of their violent inspiration that
00:21:18.800 they are oppressed occupied hence they have the right or thus they have the
00:21:24.800 right to resist if this is exposed then their violence is not justified anymore
00:21:33.800 and basically what do you want do you want to live in peace build your society
00:21:39.800 or you want to go on this nonsense fight for eternity trying to annihilate the most
00:21:45.800 ancient nation one of the most ancient nations on earth mm-hmm so once the the
00:21:53.720 truth the facts what motivates every people what every society actually want one
00:22:00.920 society wants to live apparently wants to live pro-life the other society wants to
00:22:07.460 de-legitimize the other cancel the other annihilate the other replace the other and within them a why
00:22:16.340 didn't you just get along because Israel is not trying to cancel you as long as you are not
00:22:21.080 like continuing to attempt you're violent you're violent a violent approach in fact
00:22:36.080 Israel would appreciate you if you are genius it would work with you and to insist on this violence it just
00:22:47.960 doesn't really doesn't make sense at all thank you so much you're welcome
00:22:54.960 If you really gotta tell me something tell me something that I want to be
00:23:16.880 If you really got to tell me something, tell me something that I won't remember at all.
00:23:27.520 It's getting busy at the bottom of things.
00:23:35.820 I call time to practice everything except I'm sleeping out.
00:23:43.360 I don't do that much these days, getting busy at the bottom of things.
00:23:54.220 Tell me the time, I'll tell you the weakness.
00:23:59.320 Tell me the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:24:03.420 I don't remember the crimes, I don't remember the deeds.
00:24:08.040 I don't remember the time when I stopped making sense.
00:24:13.360 So if you really got to tell me something, tell me something.
00:24:43.340 It's something that I won't remember at all.
00:24:47.500 It's getting busy at the bottom of things.
00:24:56.140 Out of contact, I practice everything except sleeping out.
00:25:03.340 I don't remember the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:25:08.340 I don't remember the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:25:10.340 I don't remember the crimes, I don't remember the deeds.
00:25:14.340 Tell me the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:25:16.340 Tell me the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:25:21.340 Tell me the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:25:23.340 I don't remember the crimes, I don't remember the deeds.
00:25:27.340 I don't remember the time, I'll tell you what you've been.
00:25:29.340 I don't remember the time when it stopped making sense.
00:25:33.340 I don't remember the crimes about dogs.
00:25:34.340 It's okay.
00:26:02.640 Oh, it's a night way
00:26:11.100 I don't know
00:26:16.580 It's a night way
00:26:20.620 It's a night way
00:26:22.980 I don't know
00:26:25.700 It's a night way
00:26:29.960 It's a long way
00:26:32.400 I don't know what I'm doing, man
00:26:36.460 It's a long way
00:26:39.460 It's a long way
00:26:41.620 I don't know what I'm doing, man
00:26:45.960 It's a long way
00:26:48.700 It's a long way
00:26:59.960 And we're back, we're back with my colleague and friend, Brian Lilly
00:27:08.000 And Brian, you know, I actually have talked about this a number of times
00:27:12.100 I always say to people, how Warren is and how Brian is on social media
00:27:16.820 Is not how we always are in real life
00:27:20.300 And it's, you know, you can get different voices when you're doing journalism and commentary stuff
00:27:25.340 But I did get a note from a reader
00:27:29.240 Which I've told you about, but I haven't read to you
00:27:33.800 You haven't told me what it says
00:27:35.080 It's a tough question I hear
00:27:36.740 So here's what this reader named Jacques says
00:27:40.460 Warren, love what you're doing
00:27:42.900 But I wish you'd speak to your friend
00:27:44.740 About the apparent support
00:27:47.060 His apparent support
00:27:49.420 For Trump and Vance
00:27:51.160 I'm a Polyev supporter
00:27:53.080 But now I'm questioning this
00:27:54.820 Given the current state of affairs
00:27:56.760 Lilly is not helping with people like me
00:27:59.260 So it's not a question so much as a statement
00:28:01.720 How do you
00:28:02.520 What's your response?
00:28:04.200 He asked me to raise that with you
00:28:06.360 So I said I would
00:28:07.340 So there you go
00:28:08.040 What's your response?
00:28:09.760 Well, look
00:28:10.680 I can like some of the things Trump is doing
00:28:12.840 And in fact
00:28:13.620 You know
00:28:14.280 You'd hate to admit it
00:28:15.700 But you like what Trump is doing with Israel
00:28:17.800 And getting the hostages out
00:28:19.100 And that's what I like about him
00:28:21.760 He's
00:28:22.600 I don't live in the United States
00:28:24.200 But he's right on some of the
00:28:25.520 The culture war issues
00:28:28.540 And
00:28:30.660 But I really don't like what he's doing on trade
00:28:34.420 Or Canada
00:28:35.200 But what I am trying to do
00:28:37.360 That far too many in Canada's media are not
00:28:40.640 Is trying to understand the thinking that underlies it
00:28:43.560 And I know you'll say
00:28:45.480 Well, there is no thinking
00:28:46.940 There is thinking and strategy behind it
00:28:49.700 But you've got to look at guys like Vance
00:28:51.440 Or Lutnick
00:28:52.660 Or
00:28:53.620 Burgum
00:28:54.500 The guys in the background
00:28:55.900 They've got the strategy
00:28:56.880 And Trump is about the chaos out front
00:28:59.300 Right?
00:28:59.960 So he's going to be chaotic out front
00:29:01.640 He's going to keep everyone off kilter
00:29:04.120 And then you've got the guys in the background doing the work
00:29:06.880 He did similar stuff in the beginning of his first term
00:29:10.080 He just wasn't as well organized
00:29:11.600 And if we're going to respond
00:29:14.260 We need to understand what they're doing
00:29:16.820 But I'll tell you
00:29:18.060 I watched a CPAC speech yesterday
00:29:20.080 Because I assumed he was going to take a lot of shots at Canada
00:29:23.080 It's a very different view
00:29:25.880 When I was down at CPAC in 2012-2014
00:29:28.900 Canada would come up
00:29:30.800 And everyone would cheer Canada
00:29:32.120 And there would be chants of drill baby drill
00:29:34.180 Now I'm sure if he had mocked Canada
00:29:37.180 He would have gotten lots of cheers
00:29:38.520 He didn't
00:29:39.320 But he did talk about what he's going to do to the US economy
00:29:42.760 And I clipped it
00:29:43.620 And I shared it
00:29:44.520 And I've shared it again this morning
00:29:45.980 Saying we need to pay attention to this
00:29:48.620 Because what he's talking about doing with the US economy
00:29:51.400 Is just as much a threat to Canada
00:29:53.920 As the terrorists will be
00:29:56.960 In fact
00:29:57.380 If
00:29:58.300 As I put it this morning
00:29:59.980 If Trump deregulates the US economy
00:30:03.020 And brings the corporate tax rate down to match
00:30:06.480 Our effective corporate tax rate
00:30:08.640 Then we're screwed
00:30:10.720 Going back to Laurier
00:30:12.120 Industrial policy in Canada
00:30:14.460 Has been have a lower tax rate
00:30:15.920 Than the Americans
00:30:16.680 To attract investments
00:30:17.760 If he does all that
00:30:19.220 And we've got Mark Carney
00:30:20.880 Doubling the industrial carbon tax rate
00:30:23.860 Say goodbye to Algomas
00:30:25.400 Okay we're going to get into Carney
00:30:27.040 But like you know
00:30:29.100 Don't assume that I think
00:30:31.300 They don't think
00:30:32.820 I actually totally disagree
00:30:34.860 I believe that they do have a strategy
00:30:37.260 You know I wrote a column
00:30:38.400 About how they're flooding the zone
00:30:39.900 They're doing all of this stuff
00:30:41.780 Because I think they know
00:30:42.640 They're going to get marked up in the midterms
00:30:44.520 And they're not going to do
00:30:45.780 What they did last time
00:30:47.100 Which is wait
00:30:47.800 They're getting this stuff done fast
00:30:49.360 That's what you do
00:30:50.180 When you've got a government
00:30:51.720 And you've got a short period of time
00:30:53.720 You get to work right away
00:30:54.980 So I think it's quite deliberate
00:30:56.240 I don't think it's unstrategic at all
00:30:58.040 I just don't like what they're doing
00:30:59.960 But I think it's quite well planned
00:31:02.000 Yeah
00:31:03.060 Like anybody that thinks
00:31:04.920 I support what Trump is doing
00:31:06.260 Towards Canada
00:31:07.060 Give your head a shake
00:31:09.400 But I do get accused of that quite often
00:31:11.740 And I get accused of being a traitor
00:31:13.320 For you know
00:31:14.440 Went to talk to Steve Bannon
00:31:16.080 Why?
00:31:17.060 The guy understands how Trump thinks
00:31:18.820 Guess who's followed me
00:31:19.840 CTV
00:31:20.320 Put it on CTV National News
00:31:22.140 This week
00:31:23.220 You need to talk to them
00:31:26.100 You need to understand them
00:31:27.280 You need to read them
00:31:28.280 And try and figure out
00:31:29.520 What they're doing
00:31:30.420 It is a complete redesign
00:31:33.320 Of the global trading order
00:31:35.100 And a revamping of the American economy
00:31:38.160 And that's why we need to wake up
00:31:41.060 And get ready
00:31:42.420 And spend less time
00:31:44.340 You know
00:31:44.640 Circulating petitions
00:31:45.900 To revoke Elon Musk's
00:31:48.760 You know
00:31:50.680 Citizenship
00:31:51.440 And we need to do more
00:31:53.040 Than just buy Canadian cans of soup
00:31:55.140 I applaud you for
00:31:56.300 I saw you posted your
00:31:57.640 Sprague cannery
00:31:58.620 Maybe you'll give us a review here today
00:32:00.380 Of your soup
00:32:02.040 The pride of Belville
00:32:03.160 I applaud all of that
00:32:05.380 But we need to do more than that
00:32:07.620 In terms of
00:32:08.500 Okay
00:32:08.900 What are they doing on regulation?
00:32:10.860 What are they doing on taxes?
00:32:12.240 How do we respond?
00:32:13.400 For sure
00:32:13.760 But you've got to accept
00:32:14.780 There's an emotional component here too
00:32:16.740 We saw it in the hockey games
00:32:18.020 Actually we've seen it in every hockey game
00:32:19.940 We certainly saw it on Thursday night
00:32:23.260 People are upset
00:32:24.680 And they want to give expression to that
00:32:26.700 Is that all illegitimate?
00:32:29.700 No
00:32:30.220 What is illegitimate
00:32:31.280 Is that too many of our political leaders
00:32:33.320 And I'll include Doug Ford
00:32:34.560 In the middle of his election campaign right now
00:32:36.640 But especially
00:32:37.740 The guys up in Ottawa
00:32:39.520 They're not doing
00:32:41.320 The homework
00:32:42.380 They're just trying to get you excited
00:32:45.080 Okay
00:32:46.600 So
00:32:47.040 Look
00:32:48.120 Dominic LeBlanc's done some good stuff
00:32:50.160 I saw him down in Washington
00:32:51.500 Going in for meetings
00:32:52.960 With Trump's top advisors
00:32:54.380 That's great
00:32:55.260 But we need to do the homework
00:32:57.320 On our own economy here
00:32:59.020 Instead we've got people
00:33:01.120 Trying to gin up the mob
00:33:02.320 You've got a liberal leadership race
00:33:05.040 When we need leadership
00:33:06.300 Not a leadership race
00:33:07.560 And so no
00:33:10.200 It's under
00:33:10.840 Everything that Canadians
00:33:11.980 Doing is understandable
00:33:13.220 In terms of being angry
00:33:15.160 But our leaders
00:33:16.600 Shouldn't just be trying
00:33:17.860 To get us upset
00:33:19.220 Ford is
00:33:20.740 Doing the same thing
00:33:22.700 During his election
00:33:23.720 To try and win the election
00:33:25.060 And it's working for him
00:33:26.540 Now I will say
00:33:28.000 That he has a lot of
00:33:29.080 Policies in the background
00:33:30.420 That if implemented
00:33:31.280 And that he's talking about
00:33:32.560 During the campaign
00:33:33.400 Will help
00:33:34.720 But the feds need to do their part
00:33:36.840 And
00:33:37.960 You know
00:33:39.200 So far
00:33:39.820 Not a lot of action up there
00:33:41.640 So let's talk about the feds
00:33:43.060 So the liberals
00:33:43.780 Have got
00:33:44.960 Their leadership debates
00:33:47.000 This week
00:33:48.280 French
00:33:49.860 And then English
00:33:50.900 And
00:33:52.100 I was on CFRA this morning
00:33:54.400 And I opined
00:33:55.320 We all know what
00:33:56.380 Christopher Freeland's like
00:33:57.460 We don't care about
00:33:58.460 The other two
00:33:59.060 Who are left in the race
00:34:00.200 It's really to see
00:34:01.620 Can Mark Carney
00:34:02.860 Perform
00:34:03.540 Because
00:34:04.300 You know
00:34:05.200 Pierre Polyev
00:34:05.980 I said to the CFRA folks
00:34:07.820 Pierre Polyev
00:34:08.860 Whether you like him or not
00:34:09.840 Is a hell of a debater
00:34:11.220 He's a hell of a political fighter
00:34:13.060 And a performer
00:34:14.280 And Carney needs to show
00:34:16.060 He's up to that
00:34:17.200 Do you agree?
00:34:18.460 Do you think that
00:34:18.960 These debates are really important
00:34:20.620 For Mark Carney
00:34:21.400 To the extent that people
00:34:26.120 Will pay attention
00:34:27.020 So Monday's debate
00:34:28.240 Is in French
00:34:29.100 And
00:34:30.020 You know
00:34:31.300 For Quebecers
00:34:33.240 Who have
00:34:33.840 Not paid a lot of attention
00:34:35.520 To Carney
00:34:36.120 Or have only seen him
00:34:37.020 In very controlled
00:34:37.940 Settings
00:34:39.020 Such as his
00:34:40.000 One on one interview
00:34:41.640 With Patrice
00:34:42.540 On Radcan
00:34:44.240 What they will notice
00:34:46.840 Is that
00:34:47.760 He speaks
00:34:48.440 Ottawa bureaucrat French
00:34:49.880 And those of us
00:34:51.760 Who have lived
00:34:52.140 In the nation's capital
00:34:53.220 Know what that's like
00:34:54.100 It gets you by
00:34:55.700 But it's not great
00:34:56.540 Freeland is very good
00:34:57.620 In French
00:34:57.960 Frank Bayliss
00:34:58.900 Smart guy
00:35:00.540 Fluently bilingual
00:35:03.400 Like Jean Charest
00:35:04.460 You don't know if he's an Anglo
00:35:07.780 Or Franco
00:35:08.440 Watch for Bayliss
00:35:10.540 In both debates
00:35:11.840 To surprise people
00:35:13.220 In taking on Carney
00:35:14.820 Do I think he has a chance
00:35:16.220 Of winning?
00:35:17.120 Wouldn't appear so
00:35:18.160 But it'll be interesting
00:35:19.540 To see him going up
00:35:20.660 Against Carney
00:35:21.240 Because Freeland
00:35:22.500 Is a known commodity
00:35:23.440 And I don't think
00:35:25.500 She's
00:35:25.820 Excuse me
00:35:26.720 I don't think
00:35:28.140 She's a good debater
00:35:28.960 No she's not
00:35:29.620 A great communicator
00:35:30.560 When she's up
00:35:31.820 Against Polly
00:35:32.720 Ev in the house
00:35:33.460 And he asks
00:35:34.580 A good question
00:35:35.700 She stands up
00:35:37.240 And it's like
00:35:38.360 The shorter
00:35:39.780 Female version
00:35:40.700 Of Preston Manning
00:35:43.200 Mr. Speaker
00:35:45.000 And then she
00:35:46.880 Lectures
00:35:47.800 She doesn't
00:35:49.260 She's not good
00:35:50.180 At the back and forth
00:35:50.960 We'll find out
00:35:51.560 If Carney is
00:35:52.360 So far
00:35:53.700 He's pretty untested
00:35:55.220 On that
00:35:55.740 In terms of
00:35:57.180 He's completely
00:35:57.980 Untested
00:35:58.920 This is like
00:35:59.500 My point to everybody
00:36:00.460 Well I can't
00:36:01.300 I can't remember one
00:36:02.260 But I don't say
00:36:02.840 Like he hasn't had
00:36:04.280 Well going on
00:36:05.140 The Daily Show
00:36:06.040 And you know
00:36:06.880 Talking about
00:36:08.540 A script
00:36:09.380 Which is what it was
00:36:10.940 Is like big deal
00:36:11.980 Like this is
00:36:12.760 That was so scripted
00:36:14.100 Now when you look
00:36:14.720 At all of his
00:36:15.200 Other interviews
00:36:15.780 This is different
00:36:16.600 You're going into
00:36:17.320 A debate with
00:36:17.900 Pierre Polly Ev
00:36:19.120 Who is
00:36:19.960 You know
00:36:20.220 This is
00:36:20.520 Liberals make fun
00:36:21.360 Of Polly Ev
00:36:21.820 For being a politician
00:36:22.680 His whole life
00:36:23.540 Yeah okay fine
00:36:24.860 But like
00:36:25.440 He's also been
00:36:26.320 A politician
00:36:26.840 His whole life
00:36:27.580 It means he's
00:36:28.460 Really good
00:36:29.060 At this stuff
00:36:29.980 And he's going
00:36:30.920 To make mincemeat
00:36:31.820 Of Carney
00:36:32.340 If Carney
00:36:32.860 Doesn't show
00:36:33.480 That he's got
00:36:33.940 The chops for it
00:36:35.000 But the one person
00:36:36.740 Who's not going
00:36:37.200 To be on that stage
00:36:38.660 Will be poor
00:36:40.120 Ruby Della
00:36:40.820 Sorry
00:36:42.280 And I shouldn't
00:36:43.440 Laugh
00:36:43.820 But I'm laughing
00:36:44.860 Does anybody care
00:36:46.920 Other than Ruby Della
00:36:48.180 That Ruby Della
00:36:48.980 Is no longer
00:36:49.580 In the liberal
00:36:50.040 Leadership race
00:36:50.800 No
00:36:51.820 I'm guessing
00:36:52.740 She did get
00:36:53.420 A lot of people
00:36:54.120 Backing her
00:36:55.320 She had
00:36:56.660 Enough donors
00:36:57.480 To pay the
00:36:57.960 350,000
00:36:59.180 They just
00:36:59.860 Weren't Canadians
00:37:00.600 Apparently
00:37:01.480 You know
00:37:03.460 There's a few
00:37:04.400 Questions about
00:37:05.160 Mark Carney's
00:37:05.900 Donor list
00:37:06.380 With all these
00:37:06.900 People living
00:37:07.400 In New York
00:37:07.980 Donating
00:37:08.520 Yeah
00:37:10.740 People that work
00:37:11.700 At the World Bank
00:37:12.960 Or other financial
00:37:13.760 Institutions
00:37:14.420 In New York City
00:37:15.260 Are donating
00:37:15.860 To Carney's campaign
00:37:16.960 It's in the
00:37:18.140 Lists
00:37:18.620 But there's
00:37:20.060 No questions
00:37:20.580 For Mark Carney
00:37:21.500 No no
00:37:21.960 Not only
00:37:23.780 Is the media
00:37:24.280 Giving Carney
00:37:24.880 A pass
00:37:25.360 In this country
00:37:26.940 But so too
00:37:28.020 Is the Liberal
00:37:28.420 Party
00:37:28.680 Let's face it
00:37:29.440 Taking Ruby Della
00:37:30.720 Out
00:37:31.160 Whatever you think
00:37:32.300 Of her candidacy
00:37:33.080 They'd allowed
00:37:33.740 Her in
00:37:34.340 Until this point
00:37:35.060 They had vetted
00:37:36.020 Her
00:37:36.200 They let her
00:37:36.860 In
00:37:37.100 They took
00:37:37.780 Her $350,000
00:37:39.280 And then said
00:37:40.200 Okay she's
00:37:41.260 Causing problems
00:37:42.100 For the guy
00:37:42.820 We want
00:37:43.360 We need to
00:37:43.860 Get rid
00:37:44.240 Of her
00:37:44.540 And then
00:37:45.740 The way
00:37:46.160 They did
00:37:46.620 It
00:37:46.900 Okay so
00:37:47.720 Pascal St.
00:37:48.780 Ange
00:37:49.060 And everyone
00:37:49.920 Saying who
00:37:50.780 The Heritage
00:37:52.340 Minister
00:37:53.100 Has just
00:37:53.960 Announced
00:37:54.400 That a
00:37:54.780 Liberal
00:37:55.040 Government
00:37:55.500 Will almost
00:37:56.340 Double
00:37:56.840 CBC's
00:37:57.880 Annual
00:37:59.180 Allotment
00:37:59.760 And then
00:38:01.440 Immediately after
00:38:02.560 That the
00:38:03.400 Liberal Party
00:38:03.980 Gives
00:38:04.460 CBC
00:38:05.380 The
00:38:06.460 Muse
00:38:07.500 That
00:38:07.720 Ruby Dalla
00:38:08.220 Is out
00:38:08.780 So that
00:38:09.520 They can
00:38:09.880 Break it
00:38:10.300 As Ruby
00:38:10.760 Dalla
00:38:11.000 Is coming
00:38:11.380 On with
00:38:11.940 Them
00:38:12.220 And the
00:38:13.180 Liberal Party
00:38:13.640 Has not
00:38:14.160 Told
00:38:14.600 Dalla
00:38:15.960 Or
00:38:17.260 The public
00:38:18.180 That was
00:38:19.700 Way too
00:38:20.620 That was
00:38:21.140 Pretty rotten
00:38:21.940 That was
00:38:22.500 Actually
00:38:22.860 That was a
00:38:24.080 Cruel thing
00:38:24.600 To do
00:38:25.100 To her
00:38:25.860 I'm not
00:38:27.060 A fan
00:38:27.520 Of her
00:38:27.880 Style
00:38:28.340 But
00:38:28.680 That was
00:38:29.620 Really
00:38:30.020 Yeah
00:38:30.620 Candidacy
00:38:31.540 Was weird
00:38:32.340 I mean
00:38:33.300 She hasn't
00:38:33.640 Been involved
00:38:34.220 In
00:38:34.580 In years
00:38:35.620 And she
00:38:35.940 Was taking
00:38:36.480 A lot
00:38:36.780 Of shots
00:38:37.220 At
00:38:37.520 Carney
00:38:38.200 Her
00:38:40.840 Social
00:38:41.180 Media
00:38:41.480 Game
00:38:41.820 Was pretty
00:38:42.240 Good
00:38:42.620 Her
00:38:43.180 Screen
00:38:44.360 Time
00:38:44.940 Was weird
00:38:45.500 Like she
00:38:45.820 Always looked
00:38:46.160 Really blurry
00:38:46.840 Needed a
00:38:48.120 Better webcam
00:38:48.860 But we'll
00:38:50.840 See if she
00:38:51.280 Appeals
00:38:52.680 Final question
00:38:55.460 I want to ask you
00:38:56.160 At polls
00:38:56.640 Because I know
00:38:57.440 You're sitting
00:38:58.020 There at your
00:38:58.860 Typewriter
00:38:59.440 You're
00:39:00.360 Selectric
00:39:02.120 And typing
00:39:02.940 Up a column
00:39:03.680 About the polls
00:39:05.280 The state
00:39:06.320 Of them
00:39:06.760 Like what
00:39:07.620 Is going
00:39:08.160 On
00:39:08.600 Like can
00:39:09.120 You just
00:39:09.400 Tell people
00:39:09.840 The federally
00:39:10.700 And you
00:39:11.280 Know to
00:39:11.500 Some extent
00:39:12.040 Provincially
00:39:12.660 It's really
00:39:13.840 Hard to
00:39:14.440 Figure out
00:39:15.060 You know
00:39:15.400 Who's on
00:39:15.980 First these
00:39:16.780 Days
00:39:17.200 Because all
00:39:18.040 The pollsters
00:39:18.620 Are doing
00:39:19.180 And saying
00:39:19.700 Weird things
00:39:20.320 Can you give
00:39:20.760 Us a sense
00:39:21.240 Of what's
00:39:21.560 The reality
00:39:22.100 Well the race
00:39:23.300 Is tightened
00:39:23.800 Federally
00:39:24.700 Which you
00:39:25.720 Know I've
00:39:26.580 Said would
00:39:26.980 Happen
00:39:27.420 Yep
00:39:27.740 I mean go
00:39:28.660 Back a year
00:39:29.820 You and I
00:39:30.740 Talking about
00:39:31.340 This
00:39:31.680 There is a
00:39:33.100 Pollster that
00:39:33.700 I don't
00:39:34.200 Believe
00:39:34.600 And I
00:39:36.060 Posted why
00:39:36.860 Yesterday
00:39:37.920 And Frank
00:39:38.600 Graves replied
00:39:39.420 And this is
00:39:40.200 Ecos
00:39:40.580 I said like
00:39:41.520 Look here's
00:39:42.320 Frank Graves

00:39:44.800 About making
00:39:45.860 Sure that
00:39:46.320 Pierre Polyev
00:39:46.940 Is never
00:39:47.440 Prime minister
00:39:49.380 And I said
00:39:50.880 This is why
00:39:51.260 I don't believe
00:39:51.700 And Frank's
00:39:52.100 Like oh
00:39:52.320 That's one
00:39:53.040 Post and I
00:39:54.140 Deleted it
00:39:54.900 And no
00:39:56.160 There's a
00:39:56.560 Pile of
00:39:56.960 Posts and a
00:39:57.600 Pile of
00:39:57.940 Comments over
00:39:58.560 The years
00:39:58.980 That make
00:39:59.380 Me question
00:39:59.920 So I just
00:40:00.880 Discount
00:40:01.600 Graves and
00:40:02.820 He's the one
00:40:03.380 That keeps
00:40:03.740 Saying it's
00:40:04.220 Really tight
00:40:05.060 I think he's
00:40:05.520 Got one saying
00:40:06.100 They're essentially
00:40:06.620 Tied this weekend
00:40:07.640 I'm not buying
00:40:10.520 It
00:40:10.780 What's
00:40:12.160 Leger got
00:40:12.760 Leger came
00:40:13.540 Out with
00:40:13.900 One
00:40:14.200 They finished
00:40:15.120 Pulling
00:40:15.560 Earlier this
00:40:16.100 Week
00:40:16.340 41% for
00:40:18.140 The
00:40:18.580 Conservatives
00:40:19.560 33%
00:40:20.860 For the
00:40:22.480 Liberals
00:40:22.740 11%
00:40:23.740 For the
00:40:24.120 NDP
00:40:24.560 Nanos
00:40:26.380 Is a
00:40:27.360 Seven
00:40:27.640 So that's
00:40:28.240 An eight
00:40:28.480 Point gap
00:40:29.040 For
00:40:29.480 Lead for
00:40:30.580 The
00:40:30.700 Conservatives
00:40:31.340 Nanos has
00:40:32.700 A seven
00:40:33.520 Point
00:40:34.140 Lead for
00:40:35.380 The
00:40:35.720 Conservatives
00:40:37.520 Abacus
00:40:38.420 Abacus
00:40:38.440 Hasn't
00:40:38.720 Pulled
00:40:39.000 In
00:40:39.140 Two
00:40:39.320 Weeks
00:40:39.600 So
00:40:39.700 Expect
00:40:40.120 One
00:40:40.360 From
00:40:40.540 Them
00:40:40.780 Soon
00:40:41.180 They
00:40:41.760 Still
00:40:41.980 Had a
00:40:42.360 20
00:40:42.760 Point
00:40:43.000 Lead
00:40:43.220 And if
00:40:43.480 You
00:40:43.540 Remember
00:40:43.800 When
00:40:44.500 Ecos
00:40:44.940 Came out
00:40:45.360 With that
00:40:45.640 Poll
00:40:45.880 Saying it's
00:40:46.320 Really
00:40:46.560 Tight
00:40:46.920 Abacus
00:40:47.980 Did two
00:40:48.620 Different
00:40:49.260 Polls
00:40:49.800 In the
00:40:50.080 Same
00:40:50.320 Week
00:40:50.580 Just to
00:40:50.920 Make sure
00:40:51.260 That they
00:40:51.600 Weren't
00:40:51.840 Missing
00:40:52.180 Something
00:40:52.560 And they
00:40:53.320 Got
00:40:53.460 Similar
00:40:53.780 Results
00:40:54.280 So
00:40:54.580 I always
00:40:55.400 Say
00:40:55.580 Wait
00:40:55.960 For
00:40:56.120 Trends
00:40:57.160 Don't
00:40:57.500 Get too
00:40:57.840 Excited
00:40:58.220 If your
00:40:58.520 Party
00:40:58.760 Is really
00:40:59.200 High
00:40:59.540 Or really
00:40:59.960 Low
00:41:00.300 Wait
00:41:01.100 For
00:41:01.280 Trends
00:41:01.820 11%
00:41:02.940 For the
00:41:03.420 NDP
00:41:04.300 In that
00:41:04.860 Leger
00:41:05.220 Poll
00:41:05.540 Seems
00:41:06.900 Like an
00:41:07.240 Outlier
00:41:07.620 For me
00:41:08.140 So
00:41:09.560 And
00:41:10.660 Campaigns
00:41:11.300 Matter
00:41:11.580 You
00:41:11.980 Always
00:41:12.300 Say that
00:41:12.780 Too
00:41:13.060 So
00:41:13.520 They
00:41:14.180 Absolutely
00:41:14.700 Do
00:41:15.020 And
00:41:15.280 And just
00:41:16.160 Quickly
00:41:16.520 On the
00:41:17.120 Provincial
00:41:19.100 Side
00:41:19.980 In
00:41:20.140 Ontario
00:41:20.540 Because
00:41:20.800 We're in
00:41:21.060 The
00:41:21.160 Election
00:41:21.520 Yeah
00:41:21.960 Doug
00:41:23.100 Ford
00:41:23.340 Is
00:41:23.520 Well
00:41:24.120 Ahead
00:41:24.560 And
00:41:26.300 It's
00:41:26.480 A race
00:41:26.760 For
00:41:26.920 Second
00:41:27.180 Place
00:41:27.740 And
00:41:28.160 Unfortunately
00:41:29.240 There
00:41:29.560 The
00:41:29.740 Pollsters
00:41:30.060 Have
00:41:30.400 The
00:41:30.760 Liberals
00:41:31.060 And
00:41:31.160 The
00:41:31.260 NDP
00:41:31.620 Bouncing
00:41:32.180 All
00:41:32.400 Over
00:41:32.640 Ford
00:41:33.020 Steady
00:41:33.480 Well
00:41:33.700 Above
00:41:33.940 40
00:41:34.320 Could
00:41:35.020 Get
00:41:35.200 A
00:41:35.320 Bigger
00:41:35.520 Majority
00:41:36.000 Than
00:41:36.160 Last
00:41:36.480 Time
00:41:36.780 But
00:41:37.360 Who's
00:41:37.620 Going
00:41:37.740 To
00:41:37.800 Be
00:41:38.000 The
00:41:38.480 Opposition
00:41:40.320 Leader
00:41:40.680 And
00:41:41.460 Quite
00:41:41.940 Frankly
00:41:42.440 I
00:41:43.160 Know
00:41:43.320 It
00:41:43.460 Looks
00:41:43.620 Like
00:41:43.820 Bonnie
00:41:44.160 Crombie
00:41:44.560 Is
00:41:44.660 Well
00:41:44.840 Out
00:41:45.000 In
00:41:45.120 Front
00:41:45.400 That's
00:41:45.860 In
00:41:45.940 Some
00:41:46.160 Polls
00:41:46.560 And
00:41:47.080 Other
00:41:47.240 Polls
00:41:51.960 Pulling
00:41:52.600 Similar
00:41:53.020 Voting
00:41:53.680 And
00:41:54.060 Then
00:41:54.220 You
00:41:54.400 Look
00:41:54.600 At
00:41:54.720 The
00:41:54.820 Fact
00:41:55.080 That
00:41:55.320 The
00:41:55.540 Liberals
00:41:55.880 Are
00:41:56.100 Have
00:41:56.920 Like
00:41:57.120 27%
00:41:58.060 Across
00:41:58.420 The
00:41:58.600 Whole
00:41:58.740 Province
00:41:59.160 But
00:41:59.380 The
00:41:59.520 NDP
00:41:59.820 Is
00:42:00.020 Concentrated
00:42:00.760 In
00:42:00.980 Hamilton
00:42:01.640 Niagara
00:42:02.240 Windsor
00:42:02.900 The
00:42:03.400 Sioux
00:42:03.700 The
00:42:04.740 NDP
00:42:05.060 Could
00:42:05.360 Still
00:42:05.580 Be
00:42:05.760 The
00:42:05.920 Official
00:42:06.220 Opposition
00:42:06.820 I
00:42:07.280 Think
00:42:07.740 Crombie
00:42:08.680 And
00:42:08.780 The
00:42:08.900 Liberals
00:42:09.140 Will
00:42:09.300 Get
00:42:09.520 Party
00:42:09.880 Status
00:42:10.260 If
00:42:11.760 They
00:42:11.920 Get
00:42:12.140 A
00:42:12.260 Good
00:42:12.440 Get
00:42:12.720 Out
00:42:12.880 The
00:42:13.020 Vote
00:42:13.280 They
00:42:14.040 Could
00:42:14.560 Become
00:42:14.880 Official
00:42:15.260 Opposition
00:42:15.780 But
00:42:16.060 Neither
00:42:16.500 One
00:42:16.780 Of
00:42:16.860 Them
00:42:21.960 The
00:42:22.160 Issues
00:42:22.660 Doug
00:42:23.220 Ford
00:42:23.460 Isn't
00:42:23.700 Just
00:42:23.900 Dominating
00:42:24.460 On
00:42:24.660 The
00:42:24.780 Number
00:42:24.980 One
00:42:25.240 Issue
00:42:25.540 Which
00:42:25.860 Is
00:42:26.060 Dealing
00:42:26.620 With
00:42:26.820 Trump
00:42:27.160 He's
00:42:28.200 Dominating
00:42:28.720 On
00:42:29.100 Like
00:42:29.280 The
00:42:29.420 Top
00:42:29.640 Seven
00:42:30.000 Issues
00:42:30.440 There
00:42:31.300 You
00:42:31.460 Go
00:42:31.660 Folks
00:42:32.120 That's
00:42:32.840 The
00:42:33.020 State
00:42:33.440 Of
00:42:33.660 The
00:42:33.800 Numbers
00:42:34.200 That's
00:42:34.500 The
00:42:34.640 State
00:42:34.860 Of
00:42:34.980 The
00:42:35.080 Play
00:42:35.360 From
00:42:36.120 Our
00:42:36.320 Friend
00:42:36.780 Mr.
00:42:37.560 Lilly
00:42:37.780 Sir
00:42:38.640 I
00:42:39.780 Believe
00:42:40.120 You
00:42:40.360 Are
00:42:40.500 Getting
00:42:40.760 A
00:42:41.020 Special
00:42:41.340 Recognition
00:42:42.120 Tomorrow
00:42:42.460 Night
00:42:42.760 I'm
00:42:43.060 Going

00:42:43.260 Be
00:42:43.420 There
00:42:43.720 To
00:42:44.440 Applaud
00:42:44.960 You
00:42:45.260 We'll
00:42:46.020 Relate
00:42:46.840 More
00:42:47.220 Of
00:42:47.360 The
00:42:47.460 Details
00:42:47.920 To
00:42:48.180 People
00:42:48.480 After
00:42:48.880 The
00:42:49.100 Fact
00:42:49.420 But
00:42:51.140 I'm
00:42:51.380 Looking
00:42:51.560 Forward
00:42:51.800 To
00:42:51.980 Seeing
00:42:52.240 You
00:42:52.460 At
00:42:52.600 That

00:42:53.580 Thank
00:42:54.180 You
00:42:54.340 We'll
00:42:54.900 See
00:42:55.100 You
00:42:55.200 There
00:42:55.360 Thank
00:42:55.660 You
00:43:17.220 You
00:43:18.120 Swift
00:43:18.440 Nominate
00:43:19.280 Them
00:43:19.780 Oh
00:43:21.460 Darling
00:43:21.820 Be
00:43:22.140 A

00:43:23.140 Of
00:43:23.380 Them
00:43:24.020 Oh

00:43:33.740 You
00:43:34.060 Praise
00:43:34.520 Them
00:43:34.900 Oh
00:43:36.720 But
00:43:36.980 Where
00:43:37.360 Were
00:43:37.660 You
00:43:37.960 Then

00:43:47.580 Your

00:48:43.460 For
00:48:43.700 Ukraine
00:48:44.200 Which
00:48:44.700 We've
00:48:45.240 Been
00:48:45.360 Clear
00:48:45.660 About
00:48:45.980 Since
00:48:46.280 The
00:48:46.460 War
00:48:46.660 Began
00:48:47.020 Two
00:48:47.320 Years
00:48:47.840 Ago
00:48:48.200 This
00:48:48.720 Week
00:48:49.060 So
00:48:51.000 I
00:48:52.280 Think
00:48:52.540 Canada
00:48:53.040 Is
00:48:53.260 Doing
00:48:53.580 All
00:48:54.080 That
00:48:54.280 It
00:48:54.380 Can
00:48:54.580 Do
00:48:54.960 But
00:48:55.880 Like
00:48:56.200 The
00:48:56.340 Rest
00:48:56.600 Of
00:48:56.740 The
00:48:56.860 World
00:48:57.120 We're
00:48:57.360 Watching
00:48:57.800 With
00:48:58.080 Horror
00:48:58.460 As
00:48:58.820 The
00:48:59.020 United
00:48:59.300 States
00:48:59.800 Falls
00:49:00.780 Ever
00:49:01.200 Deeper
00:49:01.660 Down
00:49:01.900 This
00:49:02.120 Black
00:49:02.600 Hole
00:49:03.020 And
00:49:04.200 Resembling
00:49:05.880 As I
00:49:06.200 Say
00:49:06.640 Much
00:49:06.900 A
00:49:07.180 Fascist
00:49:07.940 State
00:49:08.340 I
00:49:08.940 Think
00:49:09.100 Canada
00:49:09.580 Is
00:49:10.320 Going
00:49:10.460 To
00:49:10.560 Continue
00:49:10.920 To
00:49:11.140 Do
00:49:11.340 What
00:49:11.500 It's
00:49:11.660 Been
00:49:11.820 Doing
00:49:12.180 With
00:49:12.520 Ukraine
00:49:12.920 Whoever
00:49:13.280 Is
00:49:13.580 Our
00:49:13.760 Leader
00:49:14.000 And
00:49:15.780 You
00:49:16.180 Know
00:49:16.320 I
00:49:16.640 Want
00:49:17.080 To
00:49:17.180 Applaud
00:49:17.560 Trudeau
00:49:18.200 Something
00:49:18.620 I
00:49:18.820 Don't
00:49:19.040 Do
00:49:19.240 Often
00:49:19.640 He
00:49:20.440 I
00:49:20.700 Think
00:49:20.840 I
00:49:21.640 Think
00:49:21.740 I
00:49:22.380 Think
00:49:22.960 He's
00:49:23.420 Been
00:49:23.560 Spending
00:49:23.840 So
00:49:24.040 Much
00:49:24.180 Time
00:49:24.420 In
00:49:24.560 Europe
00:49:24.840 Is
00:49:25.540 He's
00:49:25.840 Been
00:49:25.980 Scrambling
00:49:26.640 To

00:49:27.860 Deals
00:49:28.440 With
00:49:29.300 European
00:49:29.780 Nations
00:49:30.440 To
00:49:30.920 Make
00:49:31.140 Up
00:49:31.320 For
00:49:31.480 What
00:49:31.700 We're
00:49:31.880 Going
00:49:32.000 To
00:49:32.080 Lose
00:49:32.360 With
00:49:32.580 The
00:49:32.700 Americans
00:49:33.180 In
00:49:33.520 A
00:49:33.640 Few
00:49:33.800 Days
00:49:34.080 Time
00:49:34.460 So
00:49:35.280 You
00:49:35.620 Know
00:49:35.700 I
00:49:35.780 Think
00:49:35.920 The
00:49:36.040 Canadian
00:49:36.260 Government
00:49:36.560 Is
00:49:36.740 Doing
00:49:36.960 What
00:49:37.140 It
00:49:37.280 Should
00:49:37.520 The
00:49:38.200 American
00:49:38.540 Government
00:49:39.040 Is
00:49:39.880 I
00:49:40.500 Don't
00:49:40.620 It
00:49:40.840 Feels
00:49:41.080 Like
00:49:41.300 It's
00:49:41.480 Lost
00:49:41.820 It
00:49:43.060 Feels
00:49:43.660 Like
00:49:43.840 It's
00:49:43.960 Very
00:49:44.140 Hard
00:49:44.480 To
00:49:44.740 Kind
00:49:45.160 Of
00:49:45.360 Find
00:49:46.640 The
00:49:46.820 Way
00:49:47.060 Again
00:49:47.360 Just
00:49:47.580 In
00:49:47.740 Terms
00:49:47.960 Of
00:49:48.060 What's
00:49:48.320 Happening
00:49:48.680 Right
00:49:48.880 Now
00:49:49.020 But
00:49:49.180 But
00:49:49.640 Tasha
00:49:50.220 I
00:49:50.440 Guess
00:49:50.600 We'll
00:49:51.300 Start
00:49:51.500 With

00:49:52.920 Before
00:49:53.140 We
00:49:53.280 Move
00:49:53.420 Ahead
00:49:53.620 To
00:49:53.740 The
00:49:53.860 Future
00:49:54.160 Here
00:49:54.440 But
00:49:54.660 You
00:49:55.060 Know
00:49:55.140 I
00:49:55.300 Suppose
00:49:55.520 It's
00:49:55.780 Good
00:49:56.040 Right
00:49:56.340 That
00:49:56.580 The
00:49:56.900 Two

00:49:57.340 Are
00:49:57.520 Talking
00:49:57.800 There's

00:51:49.440 With
00:51:49.640 Here
00:51:49.780 Carl
00:51:50.600 I
00:51:50.860 Guess
00:51:51.180 Good
00:51:51.420 That
00:51:51.580 Engagement
00:51:51.960 Is
00:51:52.200 Continuing
00:51:52.580 But
00:51:52.860 There's
00:51:53.020 Still
00:51:53.180 A lot
00:51:53.480 Of
00:51:53.600 Things
00:51:53.800 On
00:51:53.920 The
00:51:54.020 Table
00:51:54.260 Here
00:51:54.500 The
00:51:54.660 G7
00:51:55.160 NATO
00:51:56.120 Tariffs
00:51:56.800 I
00:51:57.400 Don't
00:51:57.720 Know
00:51:57.820 If
00:51:57.960 Canada
00:51:58.160 Is
00:51:58.300 Getting
00:51:58.500 Anything
00:51:58.800 Done
00:51:59.060 But
00:51:59.200 I
00:51:59.300 Suppose
00:51:59.600 It's
00:52:00.040 Good
00:52:00.240 That
00:52:00.440 There's
00:52:00.840 This
00:52:01.140 Conversation
00:52:01.880 Happening
00:52:02.320 I
00:52:04.140 Suppose
00:52:04.740 It's
00:52:05.300 Good
00:52:05.620 Sure
00:52:06.320 I'll
00:52:08.000 Give
00:52:08.180 You
00:52:08.340 That
00:52:08.700 I
00:52:08.900 Mean
00:52:09.100 You
00:52:09.460 Have
00:52:09.660 To
00:52:09.740 Go
00:52:09.840 Through
00:52:10.020 The
00:52:10.140 Motions
00:52:10.540 Right
00:52:10.840 Exactly
00:52:11.360 It
00:52:12.200 Would
00:52:12.420 Be
00:52:12.600 Worse
00:52:13.100 To
00:52:13.280 Say
00:52:13.500 Well
00:52:13.740 I'm
00:52:13.840 Not
00:52:13.980 Talking
00:52:14.200 To
00:52:14.380 Him
00:52:14.540 Right
00:52:15.200 It
00:52:15.960 Would
00:52:16.080 Be
00:52:16.220 Worse
00:52:16.460 If
00:52:16.640 You
00:52:16.760 Were
00:52:17.040 Pulling
00:52:19.300 The
00:52:19.440 Plug
00:52:20.040 On
00:52:20.200 The
00:52:20.320 Phone
00:52:20.580 Line
00:52:20.860 But
00:52:21.260 But
00:52:21.740 We
00:52:22.860 All
00:52:23.080 Know
00:52:23.380 That
00:52:23.640 This
00:52:23.840 Is
00:52:23.960 Just
00:52:24.140 A
00:52:24.300 Charade
00:52:24.760 We're
00:52:25.200 Just
00:52:25.380 Troking
00:52:25.760 His
00:52:25.960 Ego
00:52:26.300 We're
00:52:26.600 Just
00:52:26.780 Kissing
00:52:27.460 The
00:52:27.620 Ring
00:52:27.820 We're
00:52:28.000 Just
00:52:28.160 Doing
00:52:28.660 What
00:52:28.880 We
00:52:29.080 Have
00:52:29.340 To
00:52:29.440 Do
00:52:29.560 To
00:52:30.220 Defend
00:52:30.480 Our
00:52:30.600 Interest
00:52:31.120 And
00:52:32.120 You
00:52:32.640 Know
00:52:32.800 Anybody
00:52:33.260 Else
00:52:33.600 Would
00:52:33.760 Do
00:52:33.920 What
00:52:34.080 Trudeau
00:52:34.380 Is
00:52:34.520 Doing
00:52:34.940 In
00:52:35.500 Terms
00:52:35.760 Of
00:52:35.860 Trying
00:52:36.080 To
00:52:36.380 Keep
00:52:37.120 That
00:52:37.300 Relationship
00:52:37.840 Open
00:52:38.200 But
00:52:38.840 What
00:52:40.340 Is
00:52:40.540 Fascinating
00:52:41.080 Is
00:52:41.580 How
00:52:42.300 Much
00:52:42.800 And
00:52:43.460 How
00:52:43.640 Fast
00:52:44.140 People
00:52:45.060 Are
00:52:45.280 Lining
00:52:45.520 Up
00:52:45.760 In
00:52:45.860 The
00:52:45.940 United
00:52:46.120 States
00:52:46.400 Administration
00:52:46.920 Behind
00:52:47.340 Donald
00:52:47.960 Trump
00:52:48.320 And
00:52:48.640 Of
00:52:48.960 Course
00:52:49.180 Some
00:52:49.680 People
00:52:49.940 Are
00:52:50.100 Doing
00:52:50.320 It
00:52:50.480 Because
00:52:50.680 They
00:52:50.800 Have
00:52:50.920 To
00:52:51.020 Save
00:52:51.180 Their
00:52:51.400 Job
00:52:52.620 They
00:52:52.820 Have
00:52:52.980 To
00:52:53.120 Save
00:52:53.480 Their
00:52:54.280 Income
00:52:55.560 Their
00:52:56.280 Family
00:52:56.560 Income
00:52:57.040 And
00:52:57.340 You
00:52:57.840 Know
00:52:57.960 That's
00:52:58.200 How
00:52:58.300 It
00:52:58.440 Happens
00:52:58.860 People
00:52:59.500 Are
00:52:59.940 Thinking
00:53:00.320 Of
00:53:00.480 Themselves
00:53:00.800 First
00:53:01.200 The
00:53:02.380 Big
00:53:02.780 Difference
00:53:03.280 Between
00:53:03.640 Trump
00:53:04.220 1.0
00:53:05.100 And
00:53:05.280 Trump
00:53:05.540 2.0
00:53:06.220 That
00:53:07.000 Back
00:53:07.460 When
00:53:07.940 He
00:53:08.060 Was
00:53:08.260 First
00:53:08.500 Elected
00:53:08.980 He
00:53:09.120 Was
00:53:09.300 Surrounded
00:53:09.660 By
00:53:10.100 Professional
00:53:11.520 Republican
00:53:12.300 Operatives
00:53:13.020 Who
00:53:13.260 Were
00:53:13.520 Kind
00:53:14.120 Of
00:53:14.260 Reining
00:53:14.580 Him
00:53:14.820 In
00:53:14.980 Kind
00:53:15.300 Of
00:53:15.440 Trying
00:53:15.740 To
00:53:15.960 Keep
00:53:16.240 Him
00:53:16.360 At
00:53:16.560 Bay
00:53:16.800 Trying
00:53:17.100 To
00:53:17.340 You
00:53:17.940 Know
00:53:18.180 Keep
00:53:19.220 The
00:53:19.560 Government
00:53:19.880 Functioning
00:53:20.700 As
00:53:21.200 Normal
00:53:21.640 As
00:53:21.980 Possible
00:53:22.400 Now
00:53:23.460 He
00:53:23.940 Got
00:53:24.160 Rid
00:53:24.360 Of
00:53:24.480 All
00:53:24.680 These
00:53:24.920 People
00:53:25.300 He
00:53:25.580 Got
00:53:25.760 His
00:53:26.100 Fans
00:53:26.460 Around
00:53:26.780 He
00:53:26.960 Got
00:53:27.180 The
00:53:27.380 Sycophant
00:53:27.900 The
00:53:28.080 People
00:53:28.320 Who
00:53:28.940 Would
00:53:29.060 Just
00:53:29.220 Say
00:53:29.400 Yes
00:53:29.660 Mr.
00:53:29.900 President
00:53:30.260 To

00:53:30.780 And
00:53:31.080 Praise
00:53:31.440 His
00:53:31.680 Greatness
00:53:33.440 And
00:53:33.880 Therefore
00:53:34.620 It's
00:53:36.580 Going
00:53:36.860 Off
00:53:37.040 The
00:53:37.160 Deep
00:53:37.400 End
00:53:37.700 And
00:53:37.880 You
00:53:38.420 Know
00:53:38.560 So
00:53:38.760 We'll
00:53:38.960 Keep
00:53:39.120 Going
00:53:39.400 Through
00:53:39.600 The
00:53:39.760 Motions
00:53:40.060 We'll
00:53:40.280 Keep
00:53:40.420 Doing
00:53:40.600 What
00:53:40.760 We
00:53:40.900 Have
00:53:41.080 To
00:53:41.180 Do
00:53:41.400 But
00:53:42.180 There's
00:53:42.600 No
00:53:42.800 Question
00:53:43.300 That
00:53:43.640 We
00:53:43.860 Are
00:53:44.020 Facing
00:53:44.540 A
00:53:45.660 Lot
00:53:45.940 Of
00:53:46.120 Uncertainty
00:53:46.820 And
00:53:47.080 A
00:53:47.280 Lot
00:53:47.580 Of
00:53:47.840 Problems
00:53:48.640 In
00:53:48.860 The
00:53:49.000 Next
00:53:49.260 Years
00:53:49.680 As
00:53:50.700 Long
00:53:50.920 As
00:53:51.080 Donald
00:53:51.260 Trump
00:53:51.420 Is
00:53:51.540 President
00:53:51.840 It's
00:53:52.080 Going
00:53:52.180 To
00:53:52.200 Be
00:53:52.300 Like
00:53:52.460 That
00:53:52.620 And
00:53:53.360 It's
00:53:53.500 Not
00:53:53.600 Even
00:53:53.720 To
00:53:53.860 Mention
00:53:54.040 These
00:53:54.320 These

00:53:55.140 Threats
00:53:55.500 That
00:53:55.620 We
00:53:55.760 Had
00:53:56.020 That
00:53:56.140 Were
00:53:56.240 Pushed
00:53:56.520 Off
00:53:56.680 For
00:53:56.800 30
00:53:57.000 Days
00:53:57.240 They're
00:53:57.440 Set
00:53:57.640 To
00:53:57.760 Come
00:53:57.920 Back
00:53:58.200 Into

00:53:58.540 Four
00:53:58.740 Next
00:53:59.100 Week
00:53:59.440 So
00:53:59.720 We
00:54:00.760 Shall
00:54:00.940 See
00:54:01.120 How
00:54:01.280 The
00:54:01.380 Next

00:54:06.360 The
00:54:06.800 Other
00:54:06.940 One
00:54:07.120 And
00:54:07.260 I'll
00:54:07.380 Put
00:54:07.520 To
00:54:07.620 You

00:54:37.160 Russia
00:54:37.520 That's
00:54:37.900 For
00:54:38.040 Sure
00:54:38.220 I
00:54:38.380 Think
00:54:38.500 We
00:54:38.620 Can
00:54:38.780 All
00:54:38.960 See
00:54:39.280 That
00:54:39.580 By
00:54:40.300 His
00:54:40.520 Statement
00:54:40.920 But
00:54:41.560 It's
00:54:41.780 Also
00:54:41.940 Helping
00:54:42.300 China
00:54:42.700 Because
00:54:43.080 Countries
00:54:43.620 Need
00:54:44.160 To
00:54:44.320 Find
00:54:44.620 A
00:54:45.600 More
00:54:46.220 Reliable
00:54:46.720 Partner
00:54:47.180 And
00:54:47.620 Frankly
00:54:48.240 China
00:54:48.620 Is
00:54:48.880 More
00:54:49.340 Than
00:54:49.540 Happy
00:54:49.920 To
00:54:50.180 Step
00:54:50.420 In
00:54:50.580 The
00:54:50.700 Vacuum
00:54:51.720 That
00:54:52.340 Donald
00:54:52.560 Trump
00:54:52.840 Is
00:54:53.000 Creating
00:54:53.420 So
00:54:54.880 I
00:54:55.100 Think
00:54:55.520 For
00:54:55.820 The
00:54:55.980 Stability
00:54:57.980 Of
00:54:58.200 The
00:54:58.320 World
00:54:58.520 Order
00:54:58.820 As
00:54:59.100 We
00:54:59.300 Knew
00:54:59.700 It
00:55:00.000 We
00:55:01.420 Don't
00:55:01.620 Know
00:55:01.800 How
00:55:01.980 It's
00:55:02.120 Going
00:55:02.240 To
00:55:02.300 End
00:55:02.580 But
00:55:03.400 The
00:55:03.900 United
00:55:04.180 States
00:55:04.520 Is
00:55:06.400 Actually
00:55:06.660 Going
00:55:06.900 To
00:55:07.080 Lose
00:55:07.320 Influence
00:55:07.780 Because
00:55:08.220 They
00:55:09.200 Are
00:55:09.300 Not
00:55:09.440 A
00:55:09.580 Partner
00:55:09.860 Anymore
00:55:10.400 With
00:55:10.800 African
00:55:11.800 Countries
00:55:12.380 For
00:55:12.580 Instance
00:55:12.960 They
00:55:13.540 Still
00:55:13.840 Need
00:55:14.040 The
00:55:14.200 Aid
00:55:14.440 They
00:55:14.960 Will
00:55:15.140 Find
00:55:15.440 The
00:55:15.600 Aid
00:55:15.840 And
00:55:16.280 If
00:55:16.460 You
00:55:16.640 Think
00:55:17.080 China
00:55:17.480 Is
00:55:17.620 Going
00:55:17.860 To
00:55:17.940 Step
00:55:18.200 In
00:55:18.400 It
00:55:19.300 Would
00:55:19.620 Be
00:55:19.740 A
00:55:19.840 Mistake
00:55:20.100 To
00:55:20.240 Think
00:55:20.380 That
00:55:20.640 China
00:55:21.380 Is
00:55:21.540 Already
00:55:21.760 All
00:55:22.240 Over
00:55:22.480 Africa
00:55:22.980 They
00:55:23.560 Are
00:55:23.620 Providing
00:55:24.060 All
00:55:24.400 Kinds
00:55:24.720 Of
00:55:24.860 Support
00:55:25.240 To
00:55:25.440 African
00:55:25.760 Countries
00:55:26.220 Why
00:55:26.540 Because
00:55:26.860 They
00:55:27.040 Want
00:55:27.280 Access
00:55:27.620 To
00:55:27.860 These
00:55:28.040 Resources
00:55:28.420 They
00:55:28.780 Want
00:55:29.040 Access
00:55:29.360 To
00:55:29.600 The
00:55:29.740 Fisheries
00:55:30.180 They
00:55:30.600 Want
00:55:30.820 Access
00:55:31.100 To
00:55:31.300 Everything
00:55:31.620 That
00:55:31.880 These
00:55:32.040 Countries
00:55:32.480 Have
00:55:33.320 But
00:55:33.840 Can't
00:55:34.320 Explode
00:55:34.680 By
00:55:34.840 Themselves
00:55:35.320 And
00:55:35.680 If
00:55:35.800 The
00:55:35.880 Americans
00:55:36.220 Are
00:55:36.400 Not
00:55:36.560 There
00:55:36.820 Well
00:55:37.800 China
00:55:38.440 Is
00:55:38.560 Going
00:55:38.680 To
00:55:38.700 Step
00:55:38.940 Up
00:55:39.140 And
00:55:39.280 Fill
00:55:39.440 The
00:55:39.580 Vacuum
00:55:39.900 It's
00:55:40.340 A
00:55:40.400 Good
00:55:40.500 Example
00:55:40.860 Minerals
00:55:41.780 Lithium
00:55:42.680 Money
00:55:43.040 Loans
00:55:43.760 Right
00:55:44.080 Very
00:55:44.420 Much
00:55:44.700 A
00:55:44.980 Big
00:55:45.220 Part
00:55:45.460 Of
00:55:45.560 What's
00:55:45.760 Going
00:55:45.880 On
00:55:46.020 In
00:55:46.120 Africa
00:55:46.380 Right
00:55:46.620 Now
00:55:46.740 China
00:55:47.040 Is
00:55:47.360 So
00:55:47.480 It's
00:55:47.560 A
00:55:47.640 Good
00:55:47.740 Example
00:55:48.240 Tasha
00:55:49.140 And
00:55:49.720 I
00:55:49.820 Don't
00:55:49.960 Want
00:55:50.080 To
00:55:50.140 Be
00:55:50.260 Alarmist
00:55:51.280 About
00:55:51.480 This
00:55:51.680 It
00:55:51.820 Could
00:55:51.980 Be
00:55:52.100 Just
00:55:52.300 The
00:55:52.400 New
00:55:52.520 Normal
00:55:52.800 But
00:55:53.040 The
00:55:53.200 The
00:55:53.220 The
00:55:55.320 NATO
00:55:55.720 As
00:55:56.120 We
00:55:56.420 Kind
00:55:56.720 Of
00:55:56.820 New
00:55:56.940 It
00:55:57.060 Post
00:55:57.260 World
00:55:57.440 War
00:55:57.600 Two
00:55:57.860 Is
00:55:58.260 Very
00:55:58.480 Much
00:55:58.780 In
00:55:59.380 A
00:55:59.460 Crisis
00:55:59.780 Right
00:56:00.060 Now
00:56:00.300 Yes
00:56:02.020 I
00:56:03.040 Think
00:56:03.280 It's
00:56:03.480 On
00:56:03.600 It's
00:56:03.760 Way
00:56:03.900 To
00:56:04.020 Being
00:56:04.260 Dead
00:56:04.660 And
00:56:05.760 It's
00:56:06.100 Not
00:56:06.280 Just
00:56:06.500 Trade
00:56:06.920 That's
00:56:07.160 The
00:56:07.240 Issue
00:56:07.480 It's
00:56:07.700 Security
00:56:08.200 Which
00:56:09.000 You
00:56:09.420 Know
00:56:09.580 The
00:56:10.100 Trade
00:56:10.800 Security
00:56:12.060 In
00:56:12.500 A
00:56:12.640 Way
00:56:12.940 Came
00:56:13.420 First
00:56:13.920 Because
00:56:14.400 After
00:56:15.120 World
00:56:15.420 War
00:56:15.640 Two
00:56:16.000 There
00:56:16.520 Was
00:56:16.700 A
00:56:16.860 Sense
00:56:17.260 That
00:56:17.700 We
00:56:18.540 Had
00:56:18.720 The
00:56:18.840 Cold
00:56:19.100 War
00:56:19.380 But
00:56:19.740 It
00:56:20.300 Was
00:56:20.580 That
00:56:21.340 The
00:56:22.520 U.S.
00:56:23.320 Stood
00:56:23.720 For
00:56:24.160 Like
00:56:24.440 I
00:56:24.600 Said
00:56:24.920 This
00:56:25.180 Idea
00:56:25.660 Of
00:56:26.100 Anti

00:56:27.680 Of

00:56:54.600 Now
00:56:55.080 Is

00:59:48.560 Challenges
00:59:49.100 Obviously
00:59:49.720 Vis
00:59:50.160 A
00:59:50.260 Our
00:59:50.820 Geography
00:59:51.380 We're
00:59:51.840 Sitting

00:59:52.800 The
00:59:52.900 United
00:59:53.140 States
00:59:53.620 And
00:59:54.640 We
00:59:54.820 Don't
00:59:55.040 Have
00:59:55.300 The

00:59:59.120 But
00:59:59.900 We're

01:00:03.000 That's
01:00:03.260 What
01:00:03.380 It
01:00:03.480 Feels
01:00:03.740 To
01:00:03.940 Me

01:00:05.560 Canadians
01:00:05.940 Agree
01:00:06.380 And
01:00:07.680 It

01:04:40.380 The
01:04:40.560 French
01:04:40.900 He's
01:04:42.460 Gone
01:04:43.000 To
01:04:43.180 Ground
01:04:43.500 On
01:04:43.700 Media
01:04:44.000 Which
01:04:44.240 I
01:04:44.360 Think
01:04:44.520 Actually
01:04:44.840 He's
01:04:45.040 Done
01:04:45.180 A
01:04:45.320 Few
01:04:45.480 Interviews
01:04:46.020 That
01:04:46.140 Are
01:04:46.220 More
01:04:46.380 High
01:04:46.540 Profile
01:04:46.840 But
01:04:47.060 Basically
01:04:47.860 He's
01:04:48.340 Gone
01:04:48.560 To
01:04:48.740 Where
01:04:49.000 The
01:04:49.600 People
01:04:49.940 Are
01:04:50.320 Which
01:04:50.640 He
01:04:50.800 Needs
01:05:00.060 To
01:05:00.840 Sign
01:05:01.440 People
01:05:01.820 Up
01:05:02.160 Or
01:05:02.300 Convince
01:05:03.600 The
01:05:03.780 Ones
01:05:04.040 In
01:05:04.160 The
01:05:04.280 Writings
01:05:04.700 That
01:05:05.480 Matter
01:05:06.340 Where
01:05:06.900 You
01:05:07.020 Can
01:05:07.140 Get
01:05:07.320 Those
01:05:07.540 100
01:05:07.740 Points
01:05:08.240 And
01:05:08.480 Talk
01:05:08.800 To
01:05:08.960 Those
01:05:09.240 Subsections
01:05:10.140 Of
01:05:10.420 Voters
01:05:10.880 So
01:05:11.760 He's
01:05:12.460 Done
01:05:12.620 The
01:05:12.760 Right
01:05:12.900 Things
01:05:13.340 And
01:05:13.560 This
01:05:13.740 Week
01:05:14.020 I
01:05:14.280 Mean
01:05:14.520 You
01:05:14.820 Know
01:05:15.060 Having
01:05:16.400 Delaying
01:05:17.120 An
01:05:17.260 Election
01:05:17.600 Because
01:05:17.840 You
01:05:17.940 Have
01:05:18.040 A
01:05:18.120 House
01:05:18.300 In
01:05:18.420 The
01:05:18.500 Seat
01:05:18.620 Of
01:05:18.740 Commons
01:05:18.980 I
01:05:19.140 Thought
01:05:19.260 That
01:05:19.440 Was
01:05:19.660 Interesting
01:05:20.520 By
01:05:20.840 Karina
01:05:21.120 Gould
01:05:21.400 Because
01:05:21.760 Sure
01:05:22.740 In
01:05:23.260 Theory
01:05:23.580 You
01:05:23.780 Can
01:05:23.960 Do
01:05:24.160 That
01:05:24.340 But
01:05:24.480 If
01:05:24.600 You're
01:05:24.740 Surfing
01:05:25.820 A
01:05:25.980 Wave
01:05:26.420 Of
01:05:27.200 Popularity
01:05:27.860 You
01:05:28.000 Don't
01:05:28.200 Wait
01:05:28.360 For
01:05:28.520 It
01:05:28.620 To
01:05:28.780 Disappear
01:05:29.500 And
01:05:29.960 Carney's
01:05:31.000 Thing
01:05:31.260 Is
01:05:31.540 That
01:05:31.720 He
01:05:31.900 Doesn't
01:05:32.160 Have
01:05:32.300 A
01:05:32.400 Seat
01:05:32.640 She's
01:05:32.900 Right
01:05:33.220 And
01:05:34.060 Bringing
01:05:34.460 The
01:05:34.580 House
01:05:34.720 Of
01:05:34.840 Commons
01:05:35.060 Back
01:05:35.280 Without
01:05:35.460 Him
01:05:35.940 Will
01:05:36.460 Just
01:05:36.600 Highlight
01:05:36.940 That
01:05:37.260 So
01:05:37.580 He
01:05:38.140 Has
01:05:38.360 Zero
01:05:38.640 Incentive
01:05:39.260 To
01:05:39.680 Wait
01:05:40.000 There's
01:05:40.520 No
01:05:40.920 Reason
01:05:41.320 To
01:05:41.560 Do
01:05:41.780 So
01:05:42.100 But
01:05:43.260 These
01:05:43.520 Debates
01:05:44.060 Will
01:05:45.040 Be
01:05:45.220 Critical
01:05:45.620 Because
01:05:46.140 Everyone
01:05:47.380 Will
01:05:47.540 Be
01:05:47.640 Watching
01:05:47.960 Him
01:05:48.180 It
01:05:48.320 Is
01:05:48.480 His
01:05:54.160 So
01:05:54.620 The
01:05:54.800 Second
01:05:55.100 Debate
01:05:55.460 The
01:05:55.600 English
01:05:55.800 Debate
01:05:56.120 Can
01:05:56.400 Be
01:05:56.780 A
01:05:56.920 Recovery
01:05:57.340 Zone
01:05:57.640 But
01:05:57.800 He
01:05:57.900 Has
01:05:58.120 To
01:05:58.260 Keep
01:05:59.100 Things
01:05:59.420 Really
01:05:59.800 You
01:06:00.580 Know
01:06:00.800 People
01:06:01.140 Lower
01:06:01.700 The
01:06:01.900 Expectations
01:06:02.660 Especially
01:06:03.180 For
01:06:03.340 The
01:06:03.460 French
01:06:03.780 So
01:06:04.200 That
01:06:04.480 I
01:06:05.280 Think
01:06:05.480 Corey
01:06:05.740 Tonight
01:06:06.080 One
01:06:06.360 Sent
01:06:06.700 Famously
01:06:07.760 The
01:06:08.600 Other
01:06:09.060 Can
01:06:09.300 He
01:06:09.400 Has
01:06:10.180 To
01:06:10.300 Keep
01:06:10.440 Their
01:06:10.600 Pants
01:06:10.980 On
01:06:11.180 Or
01:06:11.300 Something
01:06:11.580 That
01:06:11.820 That's
01:06:13.820 Exactly
01:06:14.260 The
01:06:14.500 Same
01:06:14.720 Thing
01:06:14.960 Here
01:06:15.260 This
01:06:15.520 Is
01:06:15.620 What
01:06:15.740 He
01:06:15.840 Has
01:06:16.040 To
01:06:16.200 Do
01:06:16.480 Just
01:06:16.900 Have
01:06:17.060 To
01:06:17.140 Show
01:06:17.320 Up
01:06:17.480 With
01:06:17.600 Your
01:06:17.720 Pants
01:06:18.040 On
01:06:18.240 Yeah
01:06:18.380 That's
01:06:18.640 Right
01:06:18.820 I
01:06:19.540 Wanted
01:06:20.020 To
01:06:20.100 Talk
01:06:20.240 About
01:06:20.440 The
01:06:20.760 Leader
01:06:20.920 Of
01:06:21.120 The
01:06:21.280 Opposition
01:06:21.820 This
01:06:22.040 Week
01:06:22.160 And
01:06:22.240 His
01:06:22.360 Performance
01:06:22.740 But
01:06:23.040 We're
01:06:23.320 Just
01:06:23.440 Out of
01:06:23.660 Time
01:06:23.860 So
01:06:24.020 I'll
01:06:24.240 Leave
01:06:24.380 This
01:06:24.540 With
01:06:24.720 Our
01:06:24.860 Last
01:06:25.400 Question
01:06:25.680 Here
01:06:25.860 We've
01:06:26.040 Got
01:06:26.140 A
01:06:26.240 Big
01:06:26.460 Election
01:06:26.880 Coming
01:06:27.100 Up
01:06:27.260 Here
01:06:27.400 In
01:06:27.580 Ontario
01:06:27.960 This
01:06:28.220 Week
01:06:28.380 I
01:06:28.800 Don't
01:06:29.040 Know
01:06:29.160 Kind
01:06:29.580 Of
01:06:29.660 Boring
01:06:29.920 In a
01:06:30.120 Sense
01:06:30.260 It
01:06:30.400 Looks
01:06:30.540 Like
01:06:30.680 The
01:06:30.780 PCs
01:06:31.060 Are
01:06:31.260 Cruising
01:06:31.720 To
01:06:31.860 Victory
01:06:32.120 But
01:06:32.400 Warren
01:06:33.140 Do
01:06:33.280 You
01:06:47.720 Shooting
01:06:48.020 At
01:06:48.200 The
01:06:48.320 NDP
01:06:48.760 Merit
01:06:49.220 Styles
01:06:49.540 Will
01:06:49.700 Drop
01:06:49.880 To
01:06:50.060 Third
01:06:50.300 Place
01:06:50.720 And
01:06:51.400 Does
01:06:51.600 It
01:06:51.720 Have
01:06:51.920 An
01:06:52.080 Impact
01:06:52.440 On
01:06:52.640 The
01:06:52.780 Federal
01:06:53.060 Race
01:06:53.500 Not
01:06:54.100 Really
01:06:54.440 Because
01:06:54.800 There's
01:06:55.080 Not
01:06:55.220 A lot
01:06:55.500 Of
01:06:55.620 Love
01:06:55.860 Loss
01:06:56.200 Between
01:06:56.540 The
01:06:56.740 Federal
01:06:57.040 And
01:06:57.360 The
01:06:57.480 Provincial
01:06:57.900 Conservatives
01:06:58.600 So
01:06:58.940 I
01:06:59.480 Don't
01:06:59.600 Think
01:06:59.760 It'll
01:06:59.940 Be
01:07:00.180 Meaningful
01:07:00.960 There
01:07:01.240 But
01:07:01.580 I
01:07:01.760 Think
01:07:01.960 Ford
01:07:02.340 Is
01:07:02.460 Going
01:07:02.560 To
01:07:02.580 Have
01:07:02.700 A
01:07:02.820 Big
01:07:03.020 Mandate
01:07:03.440 To
01:07:03.620 Deal
01:07:03.780 With
01:07:03.900 Donald
01:07:04.120 Trump
01:07:04.640 Carl
01:07:05.120 We
01:07:05.240 Did
01:07:05.400 See
01:07:05.600 You
01:07:05.760 You
01:07:05.780 Know
01:07:05.840 Pivot
01:07:07.160 Towards
01:07:07.520 NDP
01:07:07.820 Voters
01:07:08.220 Essentially
01:07:08.560 Saying
01:07:08.860 Hey
01:07:09.060 Vote
01:07:09.320 For
01:07:09.500 Me
01:07:09.640 If
01:07:09.800 You
01:07:09.880 Don't
01:07:10.000 Want
01:07:10.160 Doug
01:07:10.340 Ford
01:07:10.620 In
01:07:10.780 This
01:07:10.920 Week
01:07:11.060 Do
01:07:11.440 You
01:07:11.660 Think
01:07:11.840 That's
01:07:12.080 Going
01:07:12.180 To
01:07:12.220 Have
01:07:12.380 Any
01:07:12.560 Kind
01:07:12.800 Of
01:07:12.880 Play
01:07:13.080 In
01:07:13.200 The
01:07:13.300 Last
01:07:13.500 Week
01:07:13.700 Of
01:07:13.800 This
01:07:13.960 Race
01:07:14.200 At
01:07:14.320 All
01:07:14.480 It
01:07:15.960 Might
01:07:16.500 But
01:07:16.760 They've
01:07:17.100 Had
01:07:17.220 A tough
01:07:17.600 Last
01:07:18.080 Week
01:07:18.400 They
01:07:19.300 You
01:07:19.780 Know
01:07:19.900 They've
01:07:20.060 Been
01:07:20.160 On
01:07:20.300 Defensive
01:07:20.720 For
01:07:20.900 Some
01:07:21.020 Of
01:07:21.120 The
01:07:21.220 Things
01:07:21.760 That
01:07:21.940 The
01:07:22.100 Candidate
01:07:22.600 Said
01:07:22.940 In
01:07:23.140 The

01:07:23.620 When

01:07:24.320 Strong
01:07:37.160 The

01:07:37.660 Has
01:07:37.900 Not
01:07:38.040 Been
01:07:38.180 Able
01:07:38.420 To
01:07:38.760 Pull
01:07:39.740 It
01:07:39.900 Through
01:07:40.220 I
01:07:40.460 Mean
01:07:40.580 They've

01:07:40.880 Seven
01:07:41.180 Years
01:07:41.580 As
01:07:41.760 Official

01:07:42.620 And
01:07:42.980 They
01:07:43.080 Have

01:07:45.020 So
01:07:45.200 Much
01:07:45.420 So
01:07:45.540 That
01:07:45.660 They're

01:12:27.680 I'm joined now by Warren Kinsella
01:12:37.680 A good friend and former special advisor
01:12:39.680 To Jean Chrétien, the CEO of The Daisy Group
01:12:42.680 Warren, welcome back to The Ben Mulroney Show
01:12:44.680 Thanks, my friend
01:12:45.680 So we've got a lot to talk about
01:12:47.680 And I think one of the most interesting stories
01:12:49.680 Of the week that I don't think anybody saw coming
01:12:51.680 Was Justin Trudeau's announcement
01:12:53.680 Of a high-speed rail corridor
01:12:55.680 Between Quebec City and Toronto
01:12:57.680 Something that people from all walks of life
01:12:59.680 And all political persuasions
01:13:00.680 Have been hoping for
01:13:02.680 I just think it was really odd
01:13:03.680 That it came from a caretaker prime minister
01:13:05.680 And like, forgive me for being cynical
01:13:09.680 But I am cynical
01:13:10.680 Like Ben, as you and I know
01:13:12.680 This has been promised
01:13:14.680 By governments in Canada
01:13:16.680 Going back to the early 1960s
01:13:20.680 And we still don't have it
01:13:22.680 So like, color me not impressed
01:13:24.680 Like, it just
01:13:25.680 It's like, seriously?
01:13:26.680 This guy's departing in just a matter of days?
01:13:29.680 And he makes an announcement of this magnitude?
01:13:31.680 It just didn't feel serious
01:13:33.680 No, it didn't feel serious
01:13:34.680 I'm wondering where the
01:13:35.680 Like, we're in a prorogued situation
01:13:37.680 His minister of transport
01:13:38.680 Was sitting next to us
01:13:39.680 She's not running again
01:13:40.680 He's out the door
01:13:41.680 I'm wondering where the money's coming from
01:13:43.680 I don't know where the
01:13:44.680 Where the political will comes from
01:13:46.680 So let's explore two cynical scenarios
01:13:48.680 One of them is that he's worried about his legacy
01:13:52.680 I mean, look, when my dad resigned
01:13:55.680 As unpopular as he was at the time
01:13:57.680 There wasn't a single candidate
01:13:58.680 Lining up to replace him
01:13:59.680 That was suggesting jettisoning
01:14:01.680 His major policy initiatives
01:14:03.680 That is not the case with this outgoing prime minister
01:14:06.680 This is a guy whose signature policy initiative
01:14:10.680 It was the carbon tax
01:14:12.680 And his
01:14:13.680 The people who supported it
01:14:14.680 Are willing to jettison it immediately
01:14:16.680 So, besides that
01:14:17.680 What does he
01:14:18.680 He's got legalizing marijuana?
01:14:21.680 I think he's got
01:14:22.680 I think he's got a couple of things
01:14:24.680 The political one
01:14:25.680 Is taking a party that was in third place
01:14:28.680 In a distant corner of the House of Commons
01:14:30.680 And propelling it into a majority government
01:14:33.680 That, in fairness to him
01:14:34.680 That's never happened before
01:14:35.680 Yeah
01:14:36.680 Having, cutting in half
01:14:38.680 Child poverty in Canada
01:14:40.680 With the Canada Child Benefit
01:14:43.680 That's good
01:14:44.680 You know, we probably did better
01:14:47.680 Than the other countries during COVID
01:14:49.680 So, he's got some things to point to
01:14:52.680 Which is the point where, you know
01:14:54.680 I think you and I and other people said to him
01:14:56.680 Well, for the love of God, go
01:14:58.680 You don't have anything else to prove
01:15:00.680 And that's what, you know
01:15:01.680 Made this high-speed rail announcement yesterday
01:15:04.680 So bizarre
01:15:05.680 It's like, why are you doing this?
01:15:07.680 Like, you literally are going to be a private citizen
01:15:09.680 In just a matter of days
01:15:11.680 Like, and you've got a minister of transport
01:15:14.680 Who's announced she's not running again
01:15:16.680 Like, it just doesn't make any sense
01:15:18.680 You know, like
01:15:19.680 Have one of the liberal leadership candidates around
01:15:22.680 Yeah
01:15:23.680 We know they're going to be there
01:15:24.680 So it just, it just didn't feel credible
01:15:26.680 It actually felt quite cynical
01:15:28.680 Well, okay, here's cynical scenario number two
01:15:30.680 If you look at polls across the country
01:15:32.680 The Tories are still in the lead in every region
01:15:37.680 With the exception of Quebec
01:15:39.680 Where it's a two-horse race between the liberals
01:15:41.680 And the Bloc Québécois
01:15:43.680 Something like this could shore up support in Quebec
01:15:47.680 Where a lot of jobs would be created
01:15:50.680 And the proof to me that validates that theory
01:15:54.680 Is the Bloc Québécois rushed to endorse this idea as well
01:15:57.680 Yeah, and I, you know, it's for sure
01:16:00.680 And it's been talked about in everywhere
01:16:02.680 From Calgary to Edmonton
01:16:04.680 Vancouver to Calgary
01:16:05.680 You know, high-speed rail has been a fantasy
01:16:07.680 Of successive governments of all political stripes
01:16:10.680 As you've pointed out
01:16:11.680 So, you know, maybe it does something for you
01:16:14.680 In a tight race
01:16:15.680 And the tight race is now what we've got
01:16:17.680 Now that Polyev has lost that 30-point lead
01:16:19.680 He had at the start of the year
01:16:21.680 So, you know, they're going to throw everything at the wall
01:16:24.680 To see what sticks
01:16:25.680 And, you know, the Tories are going to do the same thing
01:16:28.680 But at the end of the day
01:16:29.680 The ballot question to me is not high-speed rail
01:16:32.680 It's Donald Trump
01:16:33.680 And, you know, where people stand on Donald Trump and tariffs
01:16:36.680 And what they're going to do about it
01:16:37.680 Well, I want to play some audio for you
01:16:39.680 Of our Prime Minister getting quite emotional
01:16:41.680 And I think sincerely emotional
01:16:43.680 At one of what he's calling his last speeches
01:16:45.680 And this was to the Haida Nation
01:16:47.680 I was one of my first trips as Liberal leader
01:16:51.680 And I can't think of any place more appropriate
01:16:54.680 For one of my very last
01:16:56.680 Sorry
01:16:58.680 You guys
01:17:00.680 This
01:17:01.680 Not just because this place is an incredibly
01:17:04.680 Breathtakingly beautiful place
01:17:07.680 Not only because of the incredible hospitality
01:17:09.680 Of the Haida Nation
01:17:11.680 Not even because this place is so important to me and my family
01:17:15.680 And look, I don't want to go down the path of saying
01:17:18.680 I'm tired of hearing his voice
01:17:19.680 And I'm tired of hearing the emotion
01:17:21.680 That's not the point of this
01:17:23.680 I think that the emotion was genuine
01:17:25.680 And it reminded me of the last days of my dad
01:17:29.680 And then the ensuing chapter out of politics
01:17:33.680 Where we as a family noticed that there is
01:17:36.680 An identity crisis that happens in a former Prime Minister
01:17:40.680 Where you quite literally go from the nexus of everything
01:17:43.680 The center of everything
01:17:44.680 To outside of all of it overnight
01:17:47.680 The country is concerned about themselves
01:17:50.680 They're not concerned about you
01:17:51.680 And your party has moved on to other things
01:17:53.680 And so there is a tough shift
01:17:56.680 For any former leader who is so central
01:17:58.680 To all of a sudden go from the middle
01:18:00.680 To going to the outside
01:18:02.680 Yeah, and you know
01:18:04.680 I saw that with my guy with Christian
01:18:06.680 And, you know, the interesting thing that's happened
01:18:09.680 Is we've got a former Prime Minister's Club
01:18:12.680 A bit happening in the form of Stephen Harper
01:18:14.680 And John Cretchen
01:18:15.680 They've actually become quite close
01:18:17.680 Yeah
01:18:18.680 And, you know, communicate quite often
01:18:20.680 And your dad was part of that kind of circle too
01:18:24.680 Because you become a citizen unlike other citizens
01:18:27.680 And people think you have a lot of power
01:18:29.680 But you don't
01:18:30.680 Yeah
01:18:31.680 You're just a regular citizen like everybody else
01:18:34.680 And you have to be very, very careful
01:18:36.680 About what you say about the politics of the moment
01:18:39.680 That's what has been so extraordinary
01:18:41.680 About Harper and Cretchen, Clark and Campbell
01:18:44.680 All coming out
01:18:45.680 And I know your dad would have too
01:18:46.680 If he'd been here with us
01:18:48.680 Speaking out against what Trump is doing
01:18:51.680 But that's an unprecedented event
01:18:53.680 Yeah
01:18:54.680 It's a historic event
01:18:55.680 So just in making the transition to that
01:18:57.680 It is tough
01:18:58.680 Yeah
01:18:59.680 And, you know, so I'm not going to make fun of him
01:19:01.680 For being emotional
01:19:02.680 I know he's genuine about indigenous issues
01:19:05.680 But, you know, as a dad to an indigenous girl
01:19:08.680 I share my daughter's cynicism
01:19:10.680 I don't think he's actually done much
01:19:12.680 And Jody Wilson-Raybould would agree
01:19:14.680 Lastly, and we only have a little bit of time left
01:19:16.680 But I want to get your take on the state of play
01:19:19.680 Of the liberal leadership campaign
01:19:22.680 Because we're hearing that there are questions
01:19:24.680 Surrounding Ruby Dalla's leadership right now
01:19:26.680 And, you know, we saw Chandra Aria being sent the way
01:19:29.680 Of the Dodo bird
01:19:30.680 We are promised a national and robust campaign
01:19:33.680 It looks like it's a full-throated coronation
01:19:36.680 Of Mark Carney at this point
01:19:38.680 So I wondered what you made of the questions
01:19:40.680 Surrounding Ruby Dalla at this point
01:19:42.680 Well, it's a Bob Fife story in the Globe and Mail
01:19:45.680 So we always, you've got to take those seriously
01:19:47.680 Those are real stories
01:19:49.680 Bob Fife is, you know, when you hear he's holding
01:19:52.680 And waiting to talk to you
01:19:53.680 That should make your blood run cold
01:19:55.680 So my suspicion is that the difficulties for Ms. Dalla
01:19:59.680 Are about to just starting
01:20:01.680 And, you know, the allegation here
01:20:03.680 The Liberal Party was warned about this
01:20:05.680 You guys need to change your membership rules
01:20:08.680 To avoid foreign interference
01:20:10.680 Precisely during nomination campaigns
01:20:13.680 And leadership campaigns
01:20:14.680 And they didn't do it
01:20:15.680 You know, we've all heard about Yaha Sinwar
01:20:18.680 Signing up from India to be a, you know
01:20:20.680 Participant in the leadership race
01:20:22.680 So now we're seeing what happens
01:20:25.680 So, you know, she's a marginal candidate
01:20:28.680 She was never going to be a serious candidate
01:20:30.680 But this is a mark on the Liberal Party's reputation
01:20:33.680 Not just hers
01:20:34.680 And look, I'm not somebody who feels
01:20:36.680 That we should be focused on race or ethnicity
01:20:39.680 Or cultural community
01:20:40.680 But the fact is, in this race
01:20:42.680 There were two people of colour
01:20:44.680 And both of them, one is out
01:20:45.680 And the other is under a cloud of suspicion
01:20:48.680 And the two front-runners are
01:20:50.680 People who look like you and me
01:20:52.680 And it's for a party that
01:20:53.680 That puts that in the window so often
01:20:56.680 It seems
01:20:57.680 I'm trying to reconcile those two things
01:21:00.680 Well, how about this here?
01:21:02.680 Because you're bang on
01:21:03.680 This is the Liberal Party
01:21:04.680 That lectures everybody about feminism all the time
01:21:06.680 Particularly this Prime Minister
01:21:08.680 And once again
01:21:09.680 They are the only political party
01:21:11.680 That's going to have a leader
01:21:12.680 Because we all know it's going to be Kearney
01:21:14.680 Who's not a woman
01:21:15.680 Yeah
01:21:16.680 Right?
01:21:17.680 Every other party has had a woman as leader
01:21:18.680 Yeah
01:21:19.680 And, you know, so the Liberal Party
01:21:21.680 Again, it's just
01:21:22.680 They're not, you know, on the walk and the talk
01:21:23.680 Yeah
01:21:24.680 And it, you know, people notice
01:21:25.680 So I think it
01:21:26.680 Like I say, it's going to be a very competitive race
01:21:28.680 And I think it's coming pretty soon
01:21:29.680 Warren, thank you so much
01:21:30.680 I hope you enjoy the hockey game tonight
01:21:32.680 Thanks, brother
01:21:33.680 It's happening in Tokyo
01:21:44.680 It's happening in France
01:21:46.680 Sometimes in their underwear
01:21:48.680 They only want to dance
01:21:50.680 They're getting bored in Singapore
01:21:52.680 They're causing quite a fright
01:21:54.680 When the kids go, go, go crazy tonight
01:21:56.680 Then they're a great player
01:21:57.680 I wish those whorados it
01:21:58.540 When they go, go, go crazy tonight
01:22:06.680 It doesn't matter
01:22:25.460 Yeah!
01:22:55.460 It's not inside.
01:22:56.120 When the kids go, go, go, crazy tonight.
01:23:00.760 They're acting so normal, yeah?
01:23:03.220 Yeah it's not inside
01:23:04.300 When the kids go, go, go, crazy tonight.
01:23:08.880 When the kids go, go, go, crazy tonight.
01:23:12.660 When the kids go, go, go crazy
01:23:14.640 Kids go, go, go crazy
01:23:16.480 Kids go, go, go crazy tonight.
01:23:25.460 you uh warren kinsella uh is the former chief advisor to warren kretchen uh warren kretchen
01:23:38.540 uh jean kretchen you know it's possible uh if john had one more uh son warren was that close
01:23:44.460 to him he would have named him after him but here he is warren kinsella former special advisor to
01:23:48.420 jean kretchen ceo of the daisy group now your voice sounds familiar i can swear we spoke last
01:23:53.040 night yeah i think you sound familiar too and i and i like the idea of kretchen having a son named
01:24:00.080 warren kretchen jr but but then you know you just never know with with sons and offspring of
01:24:06.460 presidents and prime ministers there's it could be another hunter biden scenario it could be a roger
01:24:11.620 clinton scenario like you just don't billy carter warren you just don't know where it's gonna go
01:24:16.560 that's pulling something way out of the mid-70s but anyway what were your uh observations of
01:24:23.020 last night and you've had the night to reflect on it um any good good shots fired any any growth
01:24:29.600 whatsoever from some of the challengers versus the champion here well i'm afraid i didn't reflect
01:24:35.120 on it much i think i forgot it happened about two minutes after it ended it was that uneventful
01:24:41.140 um you know when you're the incumbent like ford you just want to get your main messages out and keep
01:24:47.180 you're cool he did that um bonnie crombie really needed a knockout punch as they call it the cliche
01:24:53.740 and she didn't get that um at all in fact for a good part of the debate at least at the start
01:25:00.580 he was reading lines from her binder and you know they may have been good lines it may have been bad
01:25:07.760 lines but it was a bad look for tv because it looked made her look like she was unprepared
01:25:12.660 america styles was was fine and you know did what she had to do but she's still probably going back
01:25:20.780 to third place i don't think she's going to be a leader of the opposition you know when this thing
01:25:25.280 is all over in nine days and mike schreiner was happy just because you know somebody paid attention
01:25:30.380 to him for a couple hours so uh that's something that doesn't happen very often to green green party
01:25:35.800 leaders yeah give me that sense on styles because i have heard that um and i i think the ndp you and
01:25:43.100 i've talked about this so many times this is um an unrecognizable party if you were an ndp supporter
01:25:49.200 and and you voted for bob ray provincially or you voted for ed broadband a bunch of times it was a party
01:25:54.820 of labor it was the part of the working class it was the part of having your back and the elitists
01:26:00.240 both in the states and here were were the conservatives and republicans everything has
01:26:05.760 the table has flipped right over it will this be a wrestling match to take the ndp potentially in a
01:26:11.940 more progressive more radical direction because styles i think wanted to mainstream this a little
01:26:18.320 bit and my my opinion is war on october 7th came along and all hell broke loose and inside the federal
01:26:23.640 and provincial ranks yeah and a lot of the ndp federally and provincially as you point out
01:26:29.980 became a lot more preoccupied with gaza than guelph and um i don't think that's work for them
01:26:38.580 they seem to have lost the mission statement you know the good old days of event broadbent and
01:26:44.340 and uh leaders like that uh really seem to have gone by the the wayside she she's fine she's okay i mean
01:26:53.660 she's good tv i thought she was engaging tv she'd you know address the camera she'd use
01:26:59.860 her hands she'd use emphasis you know she wasn't looking down at her notes but it's just like what
01:27:06.140 do you guys stand for anymore what do you believe you know what makes you get out of bed in the
01:27:10.700 morning and we don't know the answer about that with the ndp and i think with the exception of bc
01:27:16.040 um that that's really reflected in the election results that they're getting i think you you hit
01:27:21.520 that right on the nose is that she's a phenomenal communicator uh but i i liken it to somebody getting
01:27:27.260 on a school bus uh the first day of a of a school year and and you know thinking uh you know i'll i'll
01:27:33.560 have be able to assert authority i'll be able to keep a presence and you look back and you've got
01:27:37.660 40 of the of the most notable like troublemaking malcontents you could imagine on that bus and
01:27:43.520 you're like this is going to be a chaotic year i don't know what kind of leader could put uh an ndp
01:27:49.040 caucus and some of the labor you know we get into the fred hans from qp and whatnot i have no idea
01:27:55.040 uh who could sort this out but there's going to be a big existential battle coming i think for the
01:27:59.780 soul of this party well there you know it is possible to be a mature social democratic party
01:28:06.140 and bc has shown them how to do it you know saskatchewan has shown them how to do it because
01:28:11.740 there's more votes in the center and you know you go in there and you steal votes from the the
01:28:16.940 liberals at least at the provincial level you know federally of course the reverse is true
01:28:21.120 trudeau stole votes and stole support from singh quite literally but they're not doing that and
01:28:27.960 you know they're gravitating towards these marginal issues and it's like guys you know you're an
01:28:33.380 opposition party in a sub-national government in canada you're not going to solve gaza right you
01:28:39.920 know gaza can't solve gaza so what are you doing you know what do you believe in and it but anyway she
01:28:46.040 did her best in the debate and it was fine but i still think she's going to lose uh you know
01:28:52.140 opposition leader status if you could advise uh crombie style schriner and you could get all of
01:28:59.100 them in a room for 20 minutes last night what are the pressure points you'd say hit them harder on
01:29:03.920 these things that they simply didn't do the thing well you're a broadcaster and you know viewers and
01:29:10.700 listeners don't like overtalk they don't like shouting they don't like you know lots of conflict
01:29:16.000 political people think they like that they don't that's when they start to turn off the tv or turn
01:29:21.920 off the radio and there was a ton of that and i i don't know if that was the format or what but it
01:29:28.280 really didn't work because there were extended periods where you couldn't make out who was talking
01:29:32.960 and ford would just sit there with a serene smile on his face and let them do it and it knew he knew
01:29:40.420 and because he'd been told and he he knows he's a veteran political you know participant he knows
01:29:47.640 that letting them scrap and shout at each other and try to get at him makes them look bad it makes
01:29:53.560 him look good is i got 45 seconds is trump literally the unicorn that that that contravenes your theory i
01:30:00.620 agree with your theory and the concept is he the one guy in in all that you've seen that people are
01:30:06.960 like yes love the insults love the interrupting love the talking love the eye rolling love the
01:30:12.040 rate like is he the only one that seems to have been able to get away with it and make it work
01:30:15.440 politically he's made it work for him politically because he is the you know he is the social media
01:30:21.660 internet troll president and uh but you know you and i both pay attention to u.s politics since he's
01:30:28.440 taken power in the past three weeks he's been losing support by the handful because what he's doing
01:30:34.540 now is what is not what he said he would do and like that is the big test of politicians these days
01:30:39.860 is you know being a straight shooter and talking plainly and for and you know uh trump does that
01:30:46.420 but also doing what you said you're going to do and you know he he's not doing that he's turning
01:30:52.720 everything to chaos so i thought he would play much more of a role in the debate last night and
01:30:57.640 actually he didn't his name really didn't come up that much but i still think board's going to cruise
01:31:02.480 to another majority thanks to donald trump seems that's uh that is so warren thanks very much for
01:31:07.860 the insight and always appreciate you getting up early thanks my friend
01:31:32.480 i'm here to acknowledge me with a feeling or a simple smile
