Leo D.M.J. Aurini - Being a Man

00:00:00.000 Tonight we're going to be taking a page from Aaron Clary.

00:00:04.000 Wine-tipped cigar.

00:00:08.000 Cigarello. Don't smoke these often,

00:00:12.000 but I'm a fan every once in a while.

00:00:20.000 How to be a man in this

00:00:24.000 awful year of our lord, 2012.

00:00:30.000 This question has had many requests

00:00:34.000 in my inbox, and really it's the sort of question that I'd be

00:00:38.000 far more comfortable if Achilles or Beowulf or

00:00:42.000 Roland were answering it.

00:00:46.000 But you got me, folks.

00:00:50.000 And a man does what he can.

00:00:54.000 How to be a man. What to do with yourself.

00:00:58.000 What should any of us do

00:01:02.000 when we see the rot

00:01:04.000 that sunk into the bones

00:01:06.000 of this civilization?

00:01:08.000 Other generations of men 0.98

00:01:14.000 were taught how to be men.

00:01:16.000 It was in the mother's milk.

00:01:18.000 It was in the culture.

00:01:20.000 They knew growing up what was expected of them.

00:01:22.000 And they got apprenticeships.

00:01:24.000 They were surrounded by manly men their entire lives

00:01:28.000 that showed them how to become the men that they were going to grow into.

00:01:34.000 What did we get?

00:01:36.000 Saturday morning cartoons

00:01:38.000 and our peers at school

00:01:40.000 and a Hollywood music culture

00:01:42.000 designed to

00:01:44.000 take money out of our pockets

00:01:46.000 not to educate us or better us

00:01:48.000 in any manner whatsoever.

00:01:50.000 So that's the problem.

00:01:54.000 Right off the bat, we don't know what a real man looks like.

00:01:58.000 We see cartoons of them on Hollywood movies.

00:02:02.000 The over-masculine Superman.

00:02:06.000 The Arnold Schwarzenegger.

00:02:08.000 The action movie stereotype.

00:02:10.000 But we don't see real men in our day-to-day lives.

00:02:14.000 So what is a real man?

00:02:18.000 We're going to start and end with Jack Donovan.

00:02:22.000 Any of you asking this question

00:02:24.000 need to buy that man's book.

00:02:26.000 The Way of Men. 0.91

00:02:28.000 He gets it.

00:02:30.000 He's studied it.

00:02:32.000 He knows what they are.

00:02:34.000 And if we're very lucky,

00:02:36.000 some female authoress 0.91

00:02:38.000 will put together a similar book for women.

00:02:40.000 are just as lost.

00:02:42.000 And quite frankly, none of us in the manosphere

00:02:44.000 are qualified to answer the question.

00:02:48.000 But to be a man

00:02:50.000 is to be part of the gang.

00:02:52.000 It is to be respected

00:02:54.000 by your fellow men.

00:02:56.000 It's strength. It's valor.

00:02:58.000 It's all these things we intrinsically know.

00:03:00.000 Jack Donovan nailed them for you.

00:03:02.000 So, buy that book.

00:03:04.000 But aside from that,

00:03:08.000 what do I have to say on the topic?

00:03:10.000 How do you start becoming a man?

00:03:12.000 What are the first steps?

00:03:14.000 Well, to start with,

00:03:18.000 accept the fact that

00:03:20.000 you, sir, have low testosterone. 0.77

00:03:22.000 It's actually a worldwide problem right now.

00:03:26.000 Nobody knows the cause exactly.

00:03:28.000 Easy living?

00:03:30.000 That doesn't seem to make much sense

00:03:32.000 with different societies.

00:03:34.000 Different wealth levels.

00:03:36.000 Propaganda, again.

00:03:38.000 Plastic in the environment?

00:03:40.000 Possibly.

00:03:42.000 Possibly.

00:03:44.000 The fact of the matter is that for the past 50 years,

00:03:46.000 testosterone levels have been dropping in men.

00:03:48.000 And testosterone

00:03:50.000 is an absolutely critical resource for your body.

00:03:54.000 Testosterone gives you vitality.

00:03:56.000 It's what gets you out of bed in the morning. 1.00

00:03:58.000 It's what makes you want to fuck. 1.00

00:04:00.000 And it's also what leads to teamwork. 1.00

00:04:02.000 High testosterone men are not more violent,

00:04:08.000 except when they run into a cheater.

00:04:10.000 The people that cheat,

00:04:12.000 the people that scam,

00:04:14.000 high testosterone men

00:04:16.000 are more likely to deal with them.

00:04:18.000 But they're not more violent in general.

00:04:20.000 In fact, they are better

00:04:22.000 at working in teams

00:04:24.000 and being peaceable individuals.

00:04:28.000 So how do we go about

00:04:30.000 raising our testosterone levels?

00:04:32.000 I'm going to leave a few resources down below.

00:04:34.000 Blogs you should check out.

00:04:36.000 It's not something the medical community

00:04:38.000 likes to talk about,

00:04:39.000 because we all know that men and testosterone are evil.

00:04:44.000 Number one thing?

00:04:46.000 Start eating better.

00:04:47.000 Go paleo.

00:04:49.000 Get a diet

00:04:51.000 with high protein,

00:04:52.000 high fat,

00:04:53.000 and stay away from the grains.

00:04:54.000 Stay away from the sugar.

00:04:55.000 Don't eat junk food all the time.

00:04:59.000 Eat your veggies.

00:05:01.000 They're actually good

00:05:02.000 if you know how to cook them.

00:05:03.000 You know, stay away from the salads.

00:05:05.000 Those are...

00:05:07.000 Unless there's chicken on them,

00:05:08.000 they're pretty lame.

00:05:11.000 But most of all,

00:05:12.000 stay away from the junk food.

00:05:13.000 Stay away from the excessive grains.

00:05:15.000 Do not listen to your doctor

00:05:16.000 when they give you diet advice.

00:05:20.000 Next,

00:05:21.000 start working out.

00:05:23.000 These bodies were meant to be used.

00:05:25.000 And if you're not working out,

00:05:27.000 if you're just sitting on the couch,

00:05:28.000 sitting in your office chair,

00:05:29.000 sitting in your classroom,

00:05:30.000 not doing anything,

00:05:32.000 and then pounding 12 beers down on the weekend,

00:05:36.000 you're destroying your body.

00:05:38.000 You're destroying the machine that supports your mind,

00:05:40.000 that supports you.

00:05:42.000 Keep your body healthy.

00:05:44.000 And thirdly,

00:05:46.000 there is actually medical treatment for this

00:05:50.000 in the forms of injections and creams.

00:05:52.000 Again, look into this yourself.

00:05:57.000 This is...

00:05:58.000 If you want to improve yourself,

00:05:59.000 you need to do the research.

00:06:00.000 But this is where you start looking.

00:06:04.000 Fix your testosterone problem. 0.68

00:06:09.000 Next.

00:06:12.000 Learn game.

00:06:13.000 You don't just learn game to pick up women. 0.98

00:06:19.000 You can use game to pick up women. 1.00

00:06:21.000 You can go out to the club,

00:06:23.000 or go out to the bar on Friday, Saturday night,

00:06:25.000 and pick up women using game. 0.99

00:06:27.000 If that's all you have to do with your time,

00:06:29.000 then all the power to you.

00:06:31.000 But that's not why you learn game.

00:06:33.000 Why you really learn to understand what women are, 1.00

00:06:37.000 and how they work.

00:06:39.000 The real reason you do this

00:06:41.000 is because as a man,

00:06:43.000 leadership is your responsibility.

00:06:45.000 You are supposed to be the one

00:06:47.000 offering guidance.

00:06:48.000 Offering a path forward.

00:06:49.000 Offering control.

00:06:53.000 And any woman who 0.99

00:06:55.000 is honest enough to admit it,

00:06:57.000 they all want to find a man

00:06:59.000 worthy

00:07:01.000 of being their leader.

00:07:04.000 They don't want to follow just any man. 0.98

00:07:06.000 And your typical feminist bitching 1.00

00:07:08.000 is about how they don't want to be 0.98

00:07:11.000 a wife to a husband 0.61

00:07:13.000 that does not deserve them. 1.00

00:07:15.000 They don't want to be led by loser males 1.00

00:07:17.000 that are just there because they have a dick, 1.00

00:07:19.000 which is about 95% historical fantasy, 0.99

00:07:23.000 5% truth.

00:07:26.000 But they all want a leader

00:07:29.000 they can respect.

00:07:30.000 Somebody they can trust to protect them.

00:07:32.000 Somebody that isn't a craven,

00:07:35.000 they've been crying on their lap every night.

00:07:38.000 They want a husband, 1.00

00:07:39.000 not a son.

00:07:44.000 That's the ultimate reason you learn game.

00:07:46.000 It's because it is your responsibility as a man,

00:07:49.000 be it straight, gay, whatever,

00:07:52.000 it is your responsibility to be a leader of women,

00:07:55.000 and to be a leader of other men.

00:07:57.000 And the fact that you can now pick up women 0.98

00:08:02.000 and because you understand what's going on

00:08:05.000 the back of their head so well 0.99

00:08:07.000 that you can give them mind-blowing orgasms, 0.99

00:08:09.000 those are just fringe benefits.

00:08:11.000 That's God smiling upon the just.

00:08:14.000 Fix your testosterone problem. 0.68

00:08:23.000 Learn game.

00:08:24.000 Now you need to find a project.

00:08:29.000 There's nothing sadder than how much productive energy

00:08:33.000 is wasted on video games and pointless endeavors nowadays.

00:08:38.000 Let's go back to Fight Club once more.

00:08:41.000 You are not your IKEA sofa.

00:08:44.000 You are not your coffee table.

00:08:46.000 You are what you've accomplished in life.

00:08:49.000 And buying a coffee table is not an accomplishment.

00:08:52.000 Playing into that Skinner box that the video games offer,

00:09:00.000 getting all the medals or rewards or tokens

00:09:03.000 when you collect 500 turnips,

00:09:06.000 that's not an accomplishment.

00:09:08.000 Go accomplish something real.

00:09:12.000 Which inevitably leads to the question,

00:09:15.000 what the hell should I accomplish?

00:09:17.000 What's worthy of accomplishment nowadays?

00:09:20.000 Joining the factory and rising up the ranks until your manager?

00:09:25.000 We all know that's not going to happen in this world.

00:09:30.000 And ultimately what do you get for being a manager

00:09:33.000 in most of these companies nowadays?

00:09:35.000 You get to mind your P's and Q's.

00:09:37.000 You get to administer diversity training courses.

00:09:40.000 You get to bend over for the higher-ups

00:09:42.000 that got there through nepotism.

00:09:45.000 That's not how a man lives. 1.00

00:09:47.000 So what should you do?

00:09:50.000 Well, we already mentioned the body.

00:09:53.000 Building your muscle.

00:09:56.000 Eating healthier.

00:09:58.000 Working out.

00:09:59.000 Treat your body as a project.

00:10:02.000 You should be getting stronger and fitter all the time.

00:10:07.000 Your body is getting older.

00:10:10.000 And if you don't do this,

00:10:12.000 you will pay the consequences sooner than you think.

00:10:15.000 So treat your body like the machine that it is.

00:10:20.000 Make that a project.

00:10:23.000 If that's all you can come up with,

00:10:24.000 there's a hell of a lot worse things to do with your time.

00:10:27.000 Another thing you should do is learn history.

00:10:31.000 Not through university courses.

00:10:34.000 They're complete jokes nowadays. 0.94

00:10:36.000 You're going to be surrounded by a bunch of retards 1.00

00:10:40.000 with no interest in the subject matter 0.99

00:10:42.000 that just want to vomit up the professor's opinions

00:10:44.000 and basically have a professor read bedtime stories to them.

00:10:48.000 That's not history.

00:10:50.000 Okay?

00:10:51.000 That's not professional history.

00:10:52.000 But if you're just going to dabble in it,

00:10:55.000 check out Khan Academy.

00:10:59.000 It is free.

00:11:01.000 And the lectures,

00:11:02.000 you're unfortunate enough to watch them with me.

00:11:04.000 I pause the videos every five minutes

00:11:06.000 to explain why everything he just said is wrong.

00:11:10.000 But they are a very good starting point.

00:11:14.000 They are superior to most university lectures

00:11:18.000 that you will find out there.

00:11:20.000 And they will give you the bare bones of history.

00:11:23.000 That way you at least have a grasp

00:11:25.000 of where we are today

00:11:26.000 and where we came from

00:11:28.000 and where we might be going.

00:11:33.000 Khan Academy.

00:11:35.000 Learn some basic history.

00:11:40.000 And beyond that,

00:11:41.000 there's any number of fields

00:11:43.000 that are worth studying.

00:11:45.000 Certainly, economics.

00:11:48.000 As I've pointed out before,

00:11:50.000 Vox Day has links to excellent books on his blog

00:11:52.000 about economics.

00:11:54.000 Murray Rothbard, in particular,

00:11:56.000 is a great place to start.

00:11:58.000 Don't stay away from the mainstream sources, 0.99

00:12:02.000 the macro-microeconomic garbage. 0.98

00:12:05.000 Start with Murray Rothbard on that. 0.96

00:12:08.000 Mathematics.

00:12:09.000 If you have a talent there, study mathematics.

00:12:12.000 If you're interested, learn a musical instrument.

00:12:16.000 You don't have to play a guitar very well to impress girls.

00:12:18.000 You just have to play it adequately.

00:12:20.000 And live music is always better than canned.

00:12:24.000 Aside from that, just look at what are you good at?

00:12:29.000 What do you like doing?

00:12:31.000 Build on those skills.

00:12:34.000 There's no excuse nowadays.

00:12:38.000 You've got Wikipedia.

00:12:40.000 When I'm slow at work,

00:12:42.000 that's what I'm doing.

00:12:43.000 It's just looking up whatever catches my fancy

00:12:46.000 on Wikipedia.

00:12:48.000 And finally.

00:12:52.000 And finally.

00:12:54.000 I said finally.

00:12:55.000 Next.

00:12:56.000 So you've got a project.

00:12:58.000 You're working on your body.

00:13:00.000 You're learning game. 0.55

00:13:02.000 Walking with some bloody self-respect

00:13:05.000 because you have high testosterone now

00:13:07.000 and you're working out.

00:13:08.000 What next?

00:13:12.000 Long-term project.

00:13:14.000 Men need to live for a cause. 0.97

00:13:20.000 We don't live day to day.

00:13:22.000 And women have a lot of trouble understanding this. 1.00

00:13:26.000 This is one of the saddest things about the Feminized Workplace 1.00

00:13:29.000 is that a woman feels satisfied and satiated 0.98

00:13:35.000 when she's part of a team.

00:13:37.000 And the modern workplace just poisons women, 1.00

00:13:41.000 giving them this artificial feeling like they're part of the tribe.

00:13:45.000 They're part of the community.

00:13:47.000 They're gathering while the men are out hunting.

00:13:49.000 And look.

00:13:50.000 They have this nice little corporate office environment

00:13:52.000 with parties paid for and so on and so forth.

00:13:54.000 But the corporation is not a real tribe.

00:14:00.000 A real tribe for a woman is the family. 1.00

00:14:02.000 It's the community.

00:14:03.000 And the corporation is completely gone

00:14:06.000 five years later when she switches jobs.

00:14:09.000 Or when she retires.

00:14:11.000 There's nothing left.

00:14:12.000 There's no community from that.

00:14:18.000 But see, it's designed to satisfy the woman. 1.00

00:14:20.000 And it doesn't satisfy us because we need a longer-term goal.

00:14:23.000 That goal can be your family.

00:14:28.000 If you're lucky enough to find a wife worthy of marriage. 0.89

00:14:34.000 Or it can be anything else.

00:14:36.000 It could be restoring an old car.

00:14:38.000 It can be writing a novel.

00:14:41.000 It can be putting together a great video game.

00:14:46.000 You need a long-term goal with your life.

00:14:51.000 You cannot live day to day.

00:14:54.000 We are hunters.

00:14:57.000 Men need a mammoth to chase after. 1.00

00:15:03.000 And this one's all up to you, folks.

00:15:06.000 I can't tell you what your mammoth is.

00:15:08.000 But it's going to be based upon the stuff you're already good at.

00:15:10.000 And that you like doing.

00:15:16.000 Next.

00:15:22.000 Study violence.

00:15:24.000 Because the way of men is the way of violence.

00:15:26.000 A man that has no understanding of violence is not a real man. 1.00

00:15:32.000 He's a craven. 0.99

00:15:33.000 He's a hanger-on. 1.00

00:15:34.000 A dependent.

00:15:36.000 He's not a real man.

00:15:40.000 Read the Art of Warfare.

00:15:42.000 The Book of Five Rings.
