So, if you've been following me for some time prior to my death and resurrection on YouTube,
00:00:10.080
you might know that generational theory has been something I've been talking about for years.
00:00:17.700
Specifically, I believe in 2014, I predicted a global civil war was going to kick off in 2018.
00:00:26.880
And, depending on how you measure that, mostly correct.
00:00:40.340
Since that time, there's been a lot of talk about Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
00:00:48.020
And, these colloquial definitions that are being applied are, in my view, as a non-professional historian,
00:01:02.920
and as a reader of Strauss-Howe's generational cycle theory, they're being misapplied.
00:01:10.680
But, they are on to something. They are on to something. They've just got a few of the technical details wrong.
00:01:19.120
And, so, what I'd like to do for y'all right now
00:01:24.360
is explain who these generations are, what their birth years are,
00:01:32.940
and make some loose predictions about what we can expect over the next 30 years.
00:01:56.680
And, the four of them, they've got a winter, spring, summer, fall aspect to them.
00:02:04.220
You've got the nomad generation, which is the children that don't receive enough protection when they're young.
00:02:18.980
That'd be the winter. That'd be Gen X, the latchkey kids.
00:02:30.500
Then, you get the spring generation, the hero generation, which is the millennials.
00:02:37.400
This is also when you get the major conflict, typically.
00:02:42.180
Every 85 years, Strauss and Howe tracked this back a thousand years.
00:02:46.980
Every 85 years, you get a major combat, a major conflict, that redefines everything in society.
00:03:26.940
I'm very, very confident it's not going to go hot this time around.
