On this week's episode of The Daily Show with Stephen Colbert, the guys discuss the Democratic National Convention, the White House Correspondents Dinner, and the latest in the Trump administration. Plus, the Secret Service chief of staff is grilled by the Senate Intelligence Committee, and more.
00:07:21.000Yeah, really quickly, Kamala didn't need to leave to go do this speech that we're about to talk about so badly that she would snub the world leader, maybe stay there and do your job while, you know, Joseph Biden is potentially alive somewhere else.
00:09:07.000Her speech yesterday, which is very awkward, and I warn you, the feed was bad, period, from the local news source, so please hold your chats, had kind of three main sort of, I guess, it was a three-pronged approach.
00:12:53.000All right, so everyone's talking about that because it's funny, it's weird, this whole campaign is really just a cluster screw of the highest order.
00:13:03.000But let's get to the claims that were made, and this is not unpredictable.
00:14:20.000They not only had a higher death toll, but Democrats, Biden, extended the lockdowns and killed the economy.
00:14:27.000And just to be clear, when people become incredibly poor, when people lose their businesses, when people aren't able to heat or cool their houses, people die.
00:16:01.000I mean, I didn't say she's like my favorite.
00:16:04.000So the claim that she makes here is that former Vice President Biden, and we knew they would make this, it's Bidenomics again, he created 15 million jobs.
00:16:14.000He has created more than 15 million new jobs.
00:16:18.000He brought together Republicans and Democrats and passed historic legislation.
00:17:47.000They shut down Businesses which lost the economy jobs that were actually taking place between two voluntary parties in order to inflate the size of the federal government and by force install over 70,000 new IRS employees.
00:18:01.000And as it relates to the net new jobs that weren't recovered during COVID, 5 million just went to foreign-born workers.
00:18:15.000By the way, the number to compare jobs, net new jobs going to foreign-born workers from former Vice President Biden versus Donald Trump, 5,400,000.
00:19:06.000Also, it bears repeating, when you let about 10 million people into the country illegally during your term, it also doesn't matter anymore.
00:19:14.000You're going to need a lot more jobs if you keep doing that.
00:20:02.000His administration colluded with Big Tech to completely censor speech, which now has been proven correct.
00:20:07.000Keep in mind, some of that speech was regarding the mRNA vaccines.
00:20:11.000Some of that speech was regarding the idea that COVID could have leaked from a lab.
00:20:15.000The administration, the White House, colluded with Google, YouTube, Facebook, Big Tech To remove that speech, he unilaterally forgave student loans, and he even admitted that a lot of his policies were in flagrant violation of the Constitution, but he did it anyway.
00:20:32.000The bulk of the constitutional scholarship says that it's not likely to pass constitutional muster, but at a minimum, by the time it gets litigated, We'll probably give some additional time while we're getting that 45 billion dollars out to people who are, in fact, behind in the rent.
00:22:19.000It's just not a tenable situation and Americans aren't buying it anymore.
00:22:23.000So she started the attacks on Trump here with like this weird rundown of her career that kind of surprisingly, as opposed to her, made the crowd cackle.
00:22:32.000You know, as many of you know, before I was elected as Vice President, before I was elected as United States Senator, I was the elected Attorney General, as I've mentioned, of California.
00:22:42.000Before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor.
00:22:45.000In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds.
00:23:00.000They could be South Asian and or black and or white depending on what they want to use at that point in time.
00:23:05.000So here are some claims that she made specifically about Donald Trump.
00:23:09.000And again, it's all the personal attacks.
00:23:11.000She's not really making a lot of substantial policy attacks.
00:23:16.000She just said that Donald Trump was found liable for sexual abuse or something.
00:23:22.000As a young prosecutor when I was in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office in California, I specialized in cases involving sexual abuse.
00:23:31.000Donald Trump was found liable by a jury for committing sexual abuse.
00:23:35.000Well, you abused the system through sex.
00:24:13.000Secret Service's role in those security lapses.
00:24:16.000Cheadle did take full responsibility for the failures that day during yesterday's hearing, calling it a colossal failure on the part of the U.S.
00:26:08.000Here's the claim again, because this is a funny one.
00:26:11.000Donald Trump something something liable for sexual abuse.
00:26:14.000As a young prosecutor when I was in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office in California, I specialized in cases involving sexual abuse.
00:26:23.000Donald Trump was found liable by a jury for committing sexual abuse.
00:26:55.000But we do know beyond, not a reasonable doubt, we do know beyond any shadow of a doubt that E. Jean Carroll is an insane person who thinks rape is sexy.
00:29:26.000But was there any evidence presented against Donald Trump other than she said it?
00:29:31.000And just to be clear, the lawsuit was funded by billionaire Democratic donor Reid Hoffman and the Trump attorneys were forbidden to inquire about the department store security footage.
00:30:10.000And I'm always kind of surprised that they make claims like this considering they waffle on this because they have to kind of acknowledge inflation and that Americans sort of need gas to get where they need to go and the cost of goods and services.
00:30:23.000but then they also want to vilify big oil. So she made the claim that Trump traded favors
00:30:28.000to big oil and she even cited a number, one billion dollars.
00:31:34.000We'll get to how they've screwed us on energy.
00:31:38.000At the same time, when they parrot these talking points, the Biden administration has claimed that they're actually producing more oil and they're actually making Americans energy independent.
00:31:47.000Under this president, the president, the country is producing more oil on average than it did during the Bush, Obama, or Trump administrations.
00:31:55.000Okay, so as far as producing oil, it's a little bit complicated because leases, right, they take place with one president and then those leases extend.
00:32:04.000Without getting into the minutia, we've done that with another segment.
00:34:09.000Even if we are producing more oil right now, imagine how much we could be producing if you just didn't undo every policy that Trump had put into place.
00:34:17.000We could be dominating the world in oil production.
00:34:21.000And I think that Americans, comment below if you've noticed, I've noticed a shift where,
00:34:25.000yeah sure you still have a bunch of people who kind of believe the climate change alarmism,
00:34:29.000but it seems like now it's far more permissible in the mainstream to question
00:34:34.000the policies and how effective they would be in curbing climate change versus the net cost to Americans. It
00:34:41.000seems like now a lot of people are going like, yeah, okay What they're doing isn't really working and I think a big
00:34:46.000part of it is the fact that they're so inconsistent I mean, they want us to go electric with cars, but they
00:34:50.000also hate Elon Musk They want us to stop drilling but then claim that we're
00:34:55.000actually producing more oil than ever It's just nothing about it is consistent. We also have
00:34:59.000another claim from her. I don't know if we have a clip on this one
00:35:02.000No, that's what I was scrambling Okay, so she made the claim that President Trump and
00:35:07.000Mission Control. I'm sure you can send this in is guilty of fraud
00:36:25.000And they want you to believe that he committed fraud like he's Al Capone.
00:36:29.000They also tried to accuse him in another court of fraudulent behavior because he estimated Mar-a-Lago as being worth more than 18 million dollars.
00:36:42.000And it's just, it's, all right, let's get to another, let's get to another truth here really quickly.
00:36:45.000The federal prosecutors, by the way, they never actually charged President Trump for any campaign-related crimes.
00:36:52.000It's just, it's just one of those things.
00:36:53.000They trumped up, they trump it up, silenced the man's ability to defend himself, they remove him from social media, put a gag order on him, not permit him to present evidence, and then Kamala Harris campaigns and says he's committed fraud.
00:41:56.000Kamala says Trump's going to sign a federal... Make no mistake, he'll sign a federal abortion ban.
00:42:04.000If Trump gets the chance, he will sign a national abortion ban to outlaw abortion in every single state, but we are not going to let that happen.
00:43:51.000So what is the take home here with this speech? It's...
00:44:00.000There's nothing necessarily new, except I would still reiterate, don't become complacent.
00:44:05.000You can watch this, see the technical issues, see the unlikeability, see the dishonesty, see the ease with which it can be fact-checked, and, uh...
00:44:18.000You need to understand this is not the Democratic primary.
00:44:21.000Donald Trump is not going to be debating or running for election against just Kamala Harris.
00:44:27.000He's going to be running for election against the entire media establishment.
00:44:32.000The same media that suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story, the same media that encouraged Big Tech and colluded with the White House to have voices of political dissent to be removed, the same media Who cheered, as this administration, toward the very fibers of our Constitutional Republic and the First Amendment, and attempted the Second Amendment.
00:44:52.000That same media is going to be into hyperdrive.
00:44:55.000So, please, be prepared to have these discussions.
00:44:59.000Right now, there may be some people out there, there's a curiosity gap.
00:45:21.000I think when Ted Cruz, Senator Ted Cruz, did that math at the convention, that was really weird.
00:45:29.000I know he was trying to get to the number of illegal immigrants, but he said, there's 18,000 people here in this arena, and if you were to multiply that by 630 times, that would be 11.5 million, which would be more of a population than all but 11 states.
00:46:06.000Guys, you don't think that you can have a conversation with enough people who will then pass it on that in this municipality, an arena of people, 18,000 people, Their minds could be changed?
00:46:18.000I've been asking you to change millions of minds.
00:46:20.000Not everyone has a platform like this.
00:46:21.000Not everyone has a platform like Rush Limbaugh had.
00:46:24.000Not everyone has a platform like a lot of people out there who create content.
00:46:56.000Do not become complacent just because she's unlikable, dishonest, and a whore.
00:47:00.000Also, we want to be with you on election night, November 5th, the election livestream of the century.
00:47:07.000We will have people in every major city, in every major swing state across this country, reporters on the ground.
00:47:12.000We are going to have the electoral integrity map, where not only can you go and see the update states being called, but any type of shenanigans that are going on in real time, you'll be able to click a button and see it.
00:48:25.000People have a lot of work to do right now.
00:48:26.000There's going to be a honeymoon period for Harris.
00:48:29.000People need to educate themselves and be ready to combat the talking points that I guarantee you right now X is being flooded by surrogates with positive Harris comments.
00:48:38.000Polls, whatever they're going to come up with to make her look like she's doing much better.
00:48:42.000The fundraising thing that they've been talking about, over a hundred million dollars, right?
00:48:46.000They're putting everything they can right now into she's the person.
00:48:49.000Nobody, weeks ago, nobody liked Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party.
00:48:54.000They were like, is there any way we can skip over this lady?
00:50:34.000So, I don't know if we had this segment prepared, but this news break, I don't know if it changes it.
00:50:39.000So let's recap what happened yesterday with the Secret Service Director, Kim Cheadle.
00:50:44.000Because if you can believe it, this was the biggest story in the world.
00:50:47.000Someone tried to assassinate President Trump and then the left decided they want to try and steal its thunder by replacing Joe Biden with Kamala.
00:50:56.000And the thing is, I don't think that it's as big of a story historically.
00:51:01.000I think that, you know, bullets kind of sell a little better.
00:51:06.000The headlines, as opposed to old, decrepit, demented circus monkeys withdrawing from a race they had no business being in anyway, to be replaced with a professional hooker.
00:51:20.000Now, so, this was the big story, and there are some details here that have emerged that you probably should know.
00:51:35.000However, before this happened, yesterday, she sat down, she was grilled, and some of these are just fun clips.
00:51:41.000She did admit that the assassination attempt on Donald Trump was the agency's greatest failure in, well, recent memory.
00:51:51.000The assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13th is the most significant operational failure of the Secret Service in decades.
00:52:02.000And up until that point yesterday, This is the main takeaway.
00:52:07.000No one had been fired at all over the security failure as far as we know.
00:52:12.000So no employee has been disciplined and no employee has been placed in any position that would place their job in jeopardy nor their standing in the agency.
00:52:25.000We are still in the process of interviewing people.
00:52:29.000You're the person that runs the place.
00:52:31.000You're the person that knows right from wrong, good from bad.
00:52:35.000You've had a number of days, and now you come before this committee knowing you're gonna be before us, and you've got to slough it off to someone else.
00:54:12.000Obviously, the people in charge want her there.
00:54:15.000Obviously, because she's pro-DEI, she's adversity higher, she'll do their bidding, and they were hoping that she could maybe make it through.
00:54:21.000And then I think they're just like, look, now we're going to throw you under the bus.
00:54:45.000Let's see what these experts say, and if they say this is an embarrassment, this woman was an embarrassment, everything about this was an embarrassment, and thank God she's gone, and hopefully we have a meritocracy as it relates to our security agencies.
00:55:01.000...contentious and very frustrating for lawmakers hearing on Capitol Hill where Director Cheadle really refused to provide any sort of detail about the security failures that led up to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump's life on July 13th.
00:55:15.000Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle called on her to resign including the chairman and ranking member of the Oversight Committee after yesterday's hearing.
00:55:21.000Before yesterday's hearing even House Speaker Mike Johnson met in person with Director Cheadle And I'm told he urged her to resign during that meeting as well.
00:55:29.000So things seem to have been bubbling under the surface for a while, but yesterday the bipartisan calls for Chito to step down seem to have tipped the scales in the development we're seeing today.
00:55:39.000She's officially stepping down, tendering her resignation.
00:55:42.000Yep, under an enormous amount of pressure, not just from Republicans, but from Democrats as well, including Democratic leaders in the House who are watching that hearing yesterday.
00:56:58.000Usually they would accuse you of sexism.
00:56:59.000You'd be like, that woman is awful and she should not be in charge of Secret Service because obviously it left President Trump very vulnerable.
00:57:07.000They were thinking they were going to say sexist, but even the DNC was like, hey, that's Yeah, that bitch has gotta go.
00:58:39.000First off, can you imagine, honestly, comment, can you imagine anywhere in the private sector, someone not immediately being fired, with cause, out.
01:00:21.000As a matter of fact, so many people see him there that it loses its novelty.
01:00:26.000It's like, oh my gosh, there's a guy on the roof with a gun, and then it goes a few more minutes to like, yeah, I guess you're not going to do anything about the guy with the gun on the roof.
01:00:53.000It's so hard to believe this, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but my opinion- Your hand is being pushed here.
01:01:00.000My opinion is, there were some people who deliberately didn't block for their quarterback.
01:01:04.000Do I think they planned it from the get- No, I think that in that moment in time, someone was like, alright, I have a clear shot, we know he's there, do I have permission?
01:01:57.000Because those statements don't don't jive.
01:02:00.000So what I can tell you is that for the event in Butler, there were no requests that were denied.
01:02:07.000As far as requests... Well, maybe they got tired of asking.
01:02:10.000Maybe you turned them down so darn much, they said, not worth asking.
01:02:14.000Just once, I want to hear Jim Jordan, you know, use his, like, his fake cuss word, but then stick it with real, like, maybe they were so darn tired of your tootin', of your, of your patootie, that they stopped asking, you dumb bitch.
01:02:27.000That sounded like, by the way, it didn't sound like me describing my wife.
01:03:58.000She has kids and is looking for a strong, resourceful man to take care of her and her offspring who were abandoned by the guys she used to pick up after her shift at Cracker Barrel.
01:04:06.000And you want to offer something that makes them feel like they're back at the old country store, sitting in rocking chairs and playing giant checkers?
01:04:23.000All these meals can be stored for up to 25 years, so you can keep feedin' those rug munchers until they're old enough for you to abandon them yourself without feeling bad about it.
