00:31:09.000The DHS just proposed a new rule that would eliminate.
00:31:11.000A 60 day grace period for temporary visa foreign workers if they lose their job.
00:31:16.000So, you guys know H 1Bs, but there's also E1, L1, O1, TN visas.
00:31:21.000And these are temporary visas, to be clear.
00:31:24.000This does not apply to people who are here on a long term job.
00:31:28.000H 1B, to give you an idea, these visas were meant to be used for, oh, we got to get this job done, but there's no one here who can do it.
00:31:43.000But people who were in that position on those visas were buying homes at preferential rates, bringing in their families who were working here, having children.0.81
00:31:54.000That is not the behavior that one expects from a temporary worker.
00:31:57.000The difference with these visas, the H 1B is the one, you know, E1, L101, it's a contractor versus an employee.
00:32:03.000In other words, the United States has had immigration policy where, yeah, we want to bring in employees, salaried, or sometimes we need to bring in contractors.
00:32:22.000This proposal restores a direct relationship between an alien's non immigrant status and the specific employment or activity that formed the basis of his or her admission or grant of status in the United States and reduces administrative burden.0.90
