Transcript

00:00:00.240 Now if you're a regular viewer of my channel, you would know that the mainstream media in Canada is extremely biased against conservatives, especially CTV.
00:00:08.900 Now I'm going to show you a recent clip that makes it clearer than it's ever been before. Let's take a look.
00:00:14.620 Hours before Trump's tariff announcement, Conservative leader Pierre Polyev slammed Carney for not reaching a trade deal with the Americans in a video posted on X.
00:00:24.600 No place better symbolizes the Canada-U.S. tug-of-war for auto jobs than the river separating Detroit from Windsor.
00:00:36.080 A tug-of-war that has intensified as President Trump has made clear he wants our auto sector and our auto jobs.
00:00:42.800 Now of course, Mark Carney promised that he could, quote, handle Trump, that he could, quote, negotiate a win and that he would have a deal by July 21st.
00:00:51.300 Well, here we are, it's almost November, and there's no deal, no win, no elbows, and increasingly, no jobs.
00:01:01.940 And with me now is Scott Reed, CTV News political commentator. Good morning, Scott.
00:01:07.820 Hey, Renee, let's do this as a walk and talk. That looks like it's a cool thing to do these days.
00:01:11.880 Yeah, it was a little Rick Mercer-esque, wasn't it?
00:01:14.960 I thought, yes.
00:01:16.040 Man, these clowns, these clowns, they don't even wait one minute before attacking Polyev with schoolyard-level insults.
00:01:24.040 They're like a bunch of bullies that are jealous because the new kid is getting better grades than they are.
00:01:29.100 But just wait, this clip gets more egregious as it goes along.
00:01:32.600 All right, Scott, given this latest escalation in the trade war with Donald Trump,
00:01:37.720 what should Canada's next move be to restore trade talks?
00:01:41.760 You know, I think now might be a time to stand firm.
00:01:45.640 And if you look at it in terms of the context with the prime minister in Asia,
00:01:51.620 reaching out, discussing with other Asian countries the possibility of increasing trade relations,
00:01:57.340 of trying to draw investment and boost trade with those countries,
00:02:01.120 now is probably the time to stand a little firm.
00:02:03.100 You know, this entire incident underscores the irrationality and the absurdity of dealing with Donald Trump.
00:02:10.000 You can't even tell the truth now to Americans.
00:02:13.480 You can't even quote a former president these days if that happens to run contrary to the opinions
00:02:21.920 or the policies of the president of the United States.
00:02:24.400 He cannot brook challenge of any kind.
00:02:26.820 I think, therefore, you know, the prime minister's position of let's stand ready for talks.
00:02:32.660 Let's have talks in a calm and collected fashion when we can.
00:02:36.280 But we cannot respond and be pushed by every whim of Donald Trump
00:02:41.440 because he's just absolutely too unpredictable and we can't rely on him.
00:02:45.700 I got a better idea.
00:02:46.580 And just hear me out for a second.
00:02:48.380 Doug Ford should stick to his job, which is running Ontario.
00:02:52.080 Don't get involved in federal politics.
00:02:54.000 That's not your job, Dougie.
00:02:55.860 Listen, let the big boys work on the big boy issues.
00:02:59.520 You can deal with the little kid stuff.
00:03:01.440 The big boys are at work.
00:03:03.100 Now, I wish that Doug Ford would listen to me.
00:03:05.700 However, he uses every chance he gets, every single chance he gets,
00:03:10.300 to draw attention to himself and paint himself as some superhero.
00:03:14.160 Now, anyone that follows politics in Canada, the United States,
00:03:17.500 would know that Trump has a big ego.
00:03:20.160 And of course he does.
00:03:21.040 He's a very wealthy man.
00:03:22.100 He's a very powerful man and people like him have egos.
00:03:25.920 And you have to keep that in mind.
00:03:27.460 Whether you like Trump or not, he holds the cards in all these negotiations.
00:03:31.520 So if you're going to piss him off, you're doing that at your own risk.
00:03:35.800 Now, it wasn't just this silly commercial where Ford screwed up.
00:03:38.800 No, he's made a bunch of mistakes and he said a lot of bad things about Trump.
00:03:42.200 President Trump continues to take direct aim at Canada.
00:03:46.600 Well, he's going to really go after us.
00:03:48.180 Now, I'm reading my speech.
00:03:49.200 I just called him an elephant.
00:03:50.480 But anyways, I can't call that guy any name.
00:03:53.660 Okay, I like to think I speak on behalf of all Canadians when I say this.
00:03:57.100 Doug Ford, on behalf of Canada, shut your big mouth.
00:04:01.120 You're not helping by saying things like this.
00:04:03.360 You're not helping by being all tough with Donald Trump.
00:04:06.260 This is not your place.
00:04:07.700 Stop it.
00:04:08.300 Now, to give myself a little bit of credit here, I warned Ford.
00:04:11.780 I told him to shut his big fat mouth.
00:04:14.740 Now, of course, I don't have a direct line to him and he probably doesn't watch my videos.
00:04:19.180 However, anyone with half a brain would know that taunting Trump, poking the bear was a bad idea.
00:04:26.280 He should have known better.
00:04:27.340 His team should have known better.
00:04:29.020 Someone should have said something.
00:04:30.720 Just a quick side note there.
00:04:32.360 Before we get back into the central topic, I want to let you know that I think I'm being shadow banned or censored.
00:04:37.600 So, if you see this part, let me know in the comment section and take a second to like and subscribe.
00:04:42.780 I really appreciate it.
00:04:44.020 Now, let's get back to this disastrous CTV video.
00:04:47.040 A little bit more to go over.
00:04:48.280 Now, Scott, we have a new clip.
00:04:50.940 We haven't yet shown it to our viewers today, but I want to get you to react to it.
00:04:55.380 And it came from Prime Minister Mark Carney earlier today in an address to various investors in Asia.
00:05:02.340 And it was about Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who is, of course, behind the anti-tariff ad that has upset the president.
00:05:11.120 So, first off, let's just take a listen.
00:05:14.180 A few days ago, I launched with my good friend, Premier Ford.
00:05:18.180 Did I say good friend, Premier Ford?
00:05:19.620 I said the always entertaining.
00:05:22.900 No, the always interesting.
00:05:24.480 The always unpredictable.
00:05:27.280 Did I say good friend?
00:05:29.180 Scott, your take on the meaning behind those comments.
00:05:32.640 You know, it's a public acknowledgement.
00:05:34.440 It's a nod for the tension that's arisen as a consequence of this ad.
00:05:38.240 But you can tell the Prime Minister is also being careful not to back away from it because there is this tricky balance to be struck.
00:05:45.220 Canadians want two things, and they want them both at the same time, even if they appear to be contradictory.
00:05:50.360 They want their leaders, the Prime Minister, the Federal Cabinet, Premiers, business leaders,
00:05:54.340 they want them to secure some kind of predictability, some kind of reliability in terms of trade relations with the United States because they know our jobs, our industry, and our well-being depend on it.
00:06:05.720 But at the same time, they want our leaders, all those very same leaders, to stand up to Donald Trump, you know, to push back on his bullying and his belligerence.
00:06:14.940 And it's striking that balance.
00:06:17.140 You can see the Prime Minister is struggling with not just in substance but also in comment as he skirts around this issue and deals with this issue of the ad that was launched by Ontario.
00:06:29.940 It's a very challenging circumstance, and it's made challenging, let's be crystal clear, not by Doug Ford, not by business leaders here in Canada, not by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government.
00:06:39.500 What makes all of this fundamentally and constantly difficult is the irrationality, the lack of attachment to truth, and the unpredictability of Donald Trump.
00:06:51.060 He is the villain in this movie.
00:06:52.980 So this episode is really starting to show just how biased the mainstream media is.
00:06:57.380 They're doing this thing where conservatives are bad, they can do no good, and liberals are great, and they can do no bad.
00:07:05.000 It's the tried and tested propaganda technique, and I hope you're all following along.
00:07:09.420 Another way of looking at it is they frame everything like heads we win, as in the liberals, or tails you lose, as in the conservatives.
00:07:17.720 I hope you're taking notes.
00:07:18.620 Meanwhile, Carney, Trump, and other world leaders are attending the ASEAN Summit, where Carney emphasized that Canada wants to be viewed as a reliable partner who honors their commitments.
00:07:29.820 Is there a strong enough case to support this?
00:07:33.380 Well, I think there is.
00:07:35.160 You know, there was a commentator in an earlier piece you ran that, you know, spoke to the sort of three-dimensional chest, though, that's having to happen here.
00:07:43.180 Because even as we say, let's open up more discussions with more partners in Asia, because we're not going to have as full access to the United States.
00:07:54.180 We've got to go looking elsewhere.
00:07:56.000 Even as we do that, the president of the United States will be placing pressure on Canada and even some of those Asian leaders to say, hang on, hang on.
00:08:04.380 I don't want to see that happen, because he's got geopolitical interests with China.
00:08:07.800 I mean, this is the absurdity of the circumstance.
00:08:11.140 Donald Trump is limiting our access by whim to the United States market and then turning around and saying, don't you dare go looking for opportunities with the Chinese or other countries.
00:08:22.840 Well, you can't have your cake and eat it, too.
00:08:25.440 You can't hold our hands back and slap us in the face.
00:08:28.920 At some point, we have to respond.
00:08:30.800 It is a tightrope.
00:08:34.340 It's a roller coaster.
00:08:35.760 It's a number of other metaphors as well, Scott.
00:08:38.820 But we will have to leave it there.
00:08:40.640 Thank you very much for this, Scott.
00:08:42.500 Great seeing you this morning.
00:08:44.420 Thanks.
00:08:44.700 Have a great morning.
00:08:45.360 You, too.
00:08:45.740 That is Scott Reed, CTV News political commentator.
00:08:48.680 All right.
00:08:49.140 So let's go over this.
00:08:50.020 I got quite a bit to say here.
00:08:52.060 First of all, it's become painfully obvious that CTV got their checks in the mail and they got their marching orders from the liberal government.
00:08:59.000 Now, their main focus is whitewashing Carney's ineptitude and Doug Ford's ineptitude.
00:09:04.500 And of course, it's no secret.
00:09:06.220 It's no conspiracy theory.
00:09:07.920 CTV does, in fact, lean left.
00:09:10.300 Even independent fact checkers, independent fact checkers that are independent of everyone in Canada and the United States, that's what they're saying.
00:09:18.100 And I'll attach a link in the description so you can look at that yourself.
00:09:20.800 Despite the fact that they're obviously left leaning and obviously influenced by the liberal government,
00:09:25.360 I find their latest attacks on Polyev to be particularly egregious just because they're so obviously biased.
00:09:32.840 They're not even trying to be neutral anymore.
00:09:34.880 Their mask has literally come off.
00:09:36.860 Now, my opinion on the current trade escalation, I honestly think both sides acted badly.
00:09:42.060 And let me explain.
00:09:43.400 Like I said earlier, I think Doug Ford was wrong to interfere in this whole process.
00:09:47.460 He shouldn't have poked the bear.
00:09:48.660 That was not his job.
00:09:50.040 That was uncalled for.
00:09:51.100 And that was unwise.
00:09:52.140 I thought America valued free speech.
00:09:53.900 I thought that was something that Americans loved and valued.
00:09:57.700 So why is Donald Trump attacking another country because of something that the Ontario government put in a commercial?
00:10:03.560 That doesn't make any sense to me.
00:10:04.800 And I think Trump is acting rather childish.
00:10:07.060 Just my opinion.
00:10:08.180 All tariffs are are an import tax.
00:10:10.600 But it's an import tax that gets paid by the importing country.
00:10:14.520 So when Donald Trump says he's putting tariffs on Canada,
00:10:17.660 really all he's doing is raising prices for American consumers and American businesses.
00:10:22.240 Now, there's only a couple months before Christmas.
00:10:25.280 And I don't think it's good that Donald Trump is raising prices on Americans just before Christmas.
00:10:30.280 There's a lot of people in America that aren't doing so great right now.
00:10:33.140 And that extra price increase could really hurt them.
00:10:35.720 I really wish Donald Trump never started this trade war.
00:10:38.340 Or if he was going to start it, wait until the election in Canada was over and we had Polly Eve in office.
00:10:43.100 I truly believe 100% that Polly Eve would have got in if Donald Trump didn't start this whole trade war madness.
00:10:50.760 If Polly Eve was in office, they'd get a great deal and we'd be moving forward.
00:10:55.100 I don't think there was any advantage to having Carney in office.
00:10:58.060 And even American podcast superstar Ben Shapiro agrees with me.
00:11:01.760 Canada is the number one trade partner of the United States.
00:11:04.280 They are not a financial or economic or physical threat to the United States.
00:11:08.940 Treating them as such is not a wise move.
00:11:11.260 It just isn't. And by the way, it's going to keep Justin Trudeau in power.
00:11:14.860 The reality is that Pierre Polly Eve, who is the leader of the Conservative Party and is excellent, a terrific leader, would be amazing Prime Minister of Canada.
00:11:22.540 Pierre Polly Eve has been sinking in the polls since the initiation of the trade war.
00:11:25.820 Because people in Canada are associating Polly Eve with Trump.
00:11:28.340 Even though he says he doesn't like the tariffs and doesn't like what Trump is doing.
00:11:31.320 So you know what I would like? I would like lower tariffs with Canada.
00:11:34.340 The United States should articulate to Canada what are the concrete steps that they want Canada to actually take to crack down on fentanyl trafficking across the border.
00:11:40.480 We should actually make a significant ask and then get the ask, get the win, and then ratchet this thing down.
00:11:45.260 Because it is not good for Canada and it is not good for the United States.
00:11:47.680 And hell, I don't care much about Canada, but I do care about the United States.
00:11:50.320 When you ratchet up prices on everything from oil to cars because of this.
00:11:54.200 So I want to point out that video came out before the recent Canadian election.
00:11:57.780 But Ben Shapiro was 100% right.
00:12:00.100 He took the words right out of my mouth at that time.
00:12:02.940 He's a very intelligent guy and I agree with him 100% when he says Polly Eve would be a great Prime Minister of Canada.
00:12:08.760 And just as a side note, sadly enough, it seems that Ben Shapiro understands Canadian politics a little bit better than some Canadian podcasters.
00:12:17.360 And if you watch a lot of YouTube videos, you'll know exactly what I mean.
00:12:20.720 Or at least I hope so.
00:12:21.900 Anyway, back to CTV.
00:12:23.720 Despite all their attacks on Polly Eve, I don't think it's going to work this time.
00:12:27.500 I'm not kidding you when I still believe, I still have a high degree of confidence that Polly Eve will win the next federal election whenever it is.
00:12:34.640 And it could be sooner than later.
00:12:36.860 Ideally, we're going to have it sometime early next year.
00:12:39.480 It could be sooner and I'm not sure if that's a good idea.
00:12:42.440 But if we have the election sometime early next year, I truly believe that Polly Eve will get in, will get a majority, and then we'll start moving and getting our country back on track.
00:12:51.720 Like I always say, just have a little bit of patience.
00:12:54.820 Have a little bit of faith.
00:12:56.460 We'll get what we want soon enough.
00:12:58.220 And we're going to win.
00:12:59.100 We're going to win big.
00:13:00.060 Thanks for tuning in.
00:13:01.040 Thanks for the support.
00:13:02.260 Thanks to the paid members.
00:13:03.340 Thanks to all my subscribers, anyone that's watched, liked, or shared my videos.
00:13:07.940 It's a team and effort.
00:13:09.240 I appreciate all of you and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
