00:03:40.100 local MPs, they're free to protest, and they're also free to challenge certain decisions in court.

00:03:51.300 they can vote differently in the next election. The narrative that conservatives are pushing

00:03:55.540 is that Carney is somehow betraying Canadians by making deals with Europe, but that's completely

00:04:00.100 wrong. Carney outlined his plans to diversify Canada's economy away from the United States and

00:04:04.720 his platform. His platform literally has a whole page dedicated to this matter. To quote Carney's

00:04:09.700 platform, in the face of President Trump's unjustified tariffs, Mark Carney announced

00:04:14.200 the liberal plan to invest in trade-enabling infrastructure, diversify trade away from the

00:04:18.660 United States, create new jobs, and build one Canadian economy. When Carney said that Canada

00:04:23.080 going to diversify trade he was quite clearly referring to doing more business with the world's

00:04:27.240 other leading economies including the european union china japan and other east asian countries

00:05:07.120 predicted the Liberal Party's victory in 2025. So when Carney moves forward with making deals

00:05:12.420 with Europe, he's doing that with the majority of Canadians' approval. Conservatives are trying

00:05:16.680 to misrepresent the situation, saying that Carney is selling Canada's sovereignty to the European

00:05:21.320 Union. But this is not true. Carney is simply improving trade relations with one of the biggest

00:05:26.400 economies in the world. Conservatives also conveniently omit the fact that none of this

00:05:30.360 would be necessary if Trump didn't threaten to annex Canada with economic force. Journalists

00:05:34.820 and the public, of course, have the right to question their leaders. And that's an important

00:05:39.020 right in a healthy democracy. But I would encourage journalists and the general public,

00:05:43.460 especially conservatives to actually read Carney's platform before asking questions if you're a
