A master orator and master communicator, Pierre Paulyev is back in the House of Commons with a new seat in Alberta, and ready to take on the Trudeau government in the fall sitting. In this episode, he rips apart a CTV journalist who asks him about his plans for dealing with the liberal crime problem in Canada.
00:00:19.760You have said that you and your party will not merely oppose this government,
00:00:25.960but you will offer, quote, real solutions, propose real solutions.
00:00:29.440Can you give us an example of what one of those real solutions might be?
00:00:33.520Sure. Well, we could start with the liberal crime crisis.
00:00:37.500We have a solution for the raging crime in our streets and even in our rural communities.
00:00:42.020And it's we call the three strikes you're out law.
00:00:44.260Very simple. An offender commits three serious offenses
00:00:48.180and they are not eligible for bail, parole, probation or house arrest.
00:00:52.780We're going to be putting that forward in a law that we hope the government will quickly pass
00:00:56.880so that we can take that tiny minority of criminals who are terrorizing our streets
00:01:01.680and put them behind bars so that we can make our community safe again.
00:01:05.880Now, this is what I call a smart plan.
00:01:08.440No hocus pocus, no buzzwords, just common sense.
00:01:12.480You're a criminal. You're causing problems.
00:01:15.160You're committing crime. You go to jail.
00:01:17.720Now, listen, the CTV host tries to embarrass him right here.
00:01:21.100That's been implemented in some places in the United States.
00:01:24.380It's been criticized that it doesn't necessarily work.
00:01:27.800Why do you feel it would work in Canada?
00:01:29.420This host tried to catch Paulyev off guard, but as always, Paulyev came prepared.
00:01:34.800Well, it will work in Canada because the problem is a very simple one, actually.
00:01:40.060We have a very small number of people doing a phenomenal amount of crime.
00:01:44.520So in Vancouver, they had to arrest the same 40 offenders 6,000 times, so 150 times a year per person.
00:01:53.520If you took those 40 people off the street, you'd have 6,000 fewer people violated and victimized.
00:02:01.360But unfortunately, liberal laws let them be repeatedly released, even within minutes of their latest arrest, on bail.
00:02:08.300So this would lock them up, keep them out of society and circulation while people can live in peace.
00:02:14.820And instead, you know, the liberal approach has been to go after licensed, law-abiding, trained and tested hunters and sports shooters who are not a risk.
00:02:23.120We think we should go after real criminals, and that would be a practical solution to stop what I call the liberal crime crisis
00:02:30.340that followed their introduction of these lax, easy laws on criminals.
00:02:34.620Haven't serious crime rates, though, decreased in Canada?
00:03:08.320Polyev remains calm, and he just spits facts.
00:03:11.840And that's how you deal with these fools.
00:03:13.680You don't want to let them get you angry.
00:03:15.520You don't want to let them under your skin.
00:03:17.380You just calmly sit back and repeat the facts.
00:03:20.240Now let's continue learning from the master.
00:03:22.120I want to ask you about tariffs and the relationship with the United States.
00:03:26.640You have been quite adamant you don't like the fact that Canada has recently removed some tariffs on U.S. products coming into the country.
00:03:38.920I would clarify slightly, what I would like to see is tariffs removed on both sides of the border.
00:03:46.000I think that the mistake that Mr. Carney has made is that he promised elbows up, and of course it's been elbows down ever since the election.
00:03:55.660He removes tariffs without getting anything in return, and he is signaling weakness.
00:04:02.440That's why the Americans have actually increased tariffs on Canada.
00:04:06.600The Chinese sense the same weakness of their increasing tariffs on our fish harvesters, seafood producers, and farmers.
00:04:13.740And the weakness is costing Canadians here at home.
00:04:16.900So what I think we should do is go to President Trump and say, listen, why don't we both remove tariffs?
00:04:21.220Let's get to a tariff-free relationship again.
00:04:24.460And in exchange for that, we will build up our military like you haven't seen since the Second World War.
00:04:30.560We'll harden up our borders against drugs and other dangers.
00:04:34.740You'll be safer, we'll both be richer, and we'll be a stronger continent as a result.
00:04:40.060Is President Trump interested in a win-win, though? He doesn't seem to be.
00:04:44.100Well, he hasn't had to be because of the incredible weakness the liberals have put us in.
00:04:48.420If you think about it, since they've taken office, a half trillion dollars of our investment has left to the states.
00:04:54.860That's a problem that has worsened under Mark Carney in the last five months.
00:04:59.380About 60 billion dollars more of our money is left, with the biggest outflow of investment in the five-month period.
00:05:06.300And that's because of Carney's high taxes, blocking resource projects, and pipelines.
00:05:15.460Conservatives are proposing a Canadian Sovereignty Act, which will make this the fastest place in the world to get permits for mines, pipelines, export plants, forestry projects, open our ports to the world.
00:05:29.760And that'll get us away from just relying on the Americans and make us a truly sovereign and self-reliant economy.
00:05:40.640And he just sits there and speaks fact after fact.
00:05:44.120I truly believe that if Polly Ev was in office, we'd have a trade deal with the United States and China.
00:05:49.520Unfortunately, we're stuck with that other guy.
00:05:51.640And we don't have a trade deal with either country.
00:05:53.980In fact, the tariffs are getting higher and higher almost every day.
00:05:57.400Now listen, the interview host tries to embarrass Polly Ev again.
00:06:01.620I'm going to ask you about ports because today it's being reported and the Prime Minister in Latvia spoke about big projects in Churchill, in Montreal, Port of Montreal, that could be coming for the export of things primarily like LNG.
00:06:15.300Here in the east coast of Canada, we're sort of looking around and going over here because we have an LNG port in St. John that could be retrofitted for that type of purpose.
00:06:25.980You know, will you fight for maritime ports to be included in that?
00:06:31.340Now just watch this answer because this is the best part of the interview.
00:06:35.920And if you aren't impressed with this answer, I give you permission to unsubscribe and never watch my videos again.
00:06:46.260And in fact, I strongly support natural gas development, liquefaction and export from eastern Canada.
00:06:51.900You know, we should be able to defund Vladimir Putin right now by selling our gas to the Europeans.
00:06:59.300But the Liberals have blocked every natural gas liquefaction and export project that has been proposed in eastern Canada, saying there's no business case.
00:07:10.060And yesterday, the Polish ambassador was laughing at us on CBC.
00:07:14.160He did an interview where he started laughing.
00:07:15.700He said, we do buy Canadian natural gas from the Americans.
00:07:18.940They buy it cheap from Canada and sell it to us at a higher price, said the Polish ambassador.
00:07:23.600So the Americans are making money off our gas instead of letting great eastern Canadian pipe fitters, welders and electricians build liquefaction facilities and ship it off directly.
00:07:36.240This is where we should be getting 14 bucks a cubic, a British thermal unit.
00:08:41.140We need to support Canadian steel and aluminum production.
00:08:43.960To the second question, we have to ask ourselves why the government has had to admit that we are not competitive in producing these sorts of things.
00:08:52.660Same thing is happening on the West Coast with ferries.
00:08:55.140They say we can't make ferries in Canada.
00:08:57.740Why is it that the taxes and the red tape is so thick in Canada?
00:09:01.680Even though we have the best workers in the world, I was just at the Irving Shipyard today, the government bureaucracy stands in the way of making more of this product at home.
00:09:10.800So we need to remove that bureaucracy and become more self-sufficient and reliant on ourselves.
00:09:16.940That's why we're putting forward the Canada-Canadian Sovereignty Act.
00:09:21.600The other idea we're proposing is to make it rid of capital gains tax when people reinvest in Canada, bring back those hundreds of billions of dollars of investment to grow our economy here.
00:09:31.860So now we're getting closer to the end.
