00:00:00.000 Canadian politician Pierre Polyev is going viral on social media after calling out Donald Trump
00:00:04.980 over Greenland. Trump is still in the process of trying to annex the isolated ice sheet,
00:00:09.420 refusing to take military force off the table. Both Greenland and Denmark have refused to sell
00:00:14.760 the island, and instead, NATO countries are sending their militaries to the island in a
00:00:19.660 show of solidarity. Trump responded by threatening tariffs on his European allies,
00:00:23.940 a move that was rebuked by leaders all across Europe.
00:00:27.020 Now, several European leaders have pushed back against US President Donald Trump's threat to
00:00:32.160 impose new 10% tariffs on imports from their countries as punishment for opposing his plans
00:00:38.420 to annex Greenland. Scandinavian nations plus Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK
00:00:43.460 and Finland are all affected by the punitive tariff hike. The development comes amid protests in
00:00:49.640 Nuuk, Greenland's capital, where several thousand people took to the streets on Saturday. The
00:00:54.640 protesters chanted slogans and sang traditional Inuit songs. Thousands also turned out in the
00:00:59.940 Danish capital, Copenhagen, and several other Danish cities. Even the right-wing leader of Italy,
00:01:05.500 Giorgia Maloney, slammed the idea, calling Trump's actions as of late a huge mistake.
00:01:10.560 Now, Pierre Poliev of Canada decided to weigh in on the matter. This is what he had to say Sunday on X.
00:01:32.300 It is unacceptable for the US to seize the territory of a sovereign country, including by threatening
00:01:36.960 tariffs on other NATO countries. Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and we support its
00:01:41.060 territorial integrity. Conservatives support NATO and Canada's obligations as a NATO member.
00:01:46.240 Canada should strengthen the NATO alliance and rebuild our own forces in the Arctic to combat
00:01:50.520 threats also coming from China and Russia and to protect our seas, skies, and soil.
00:01:55.120 Now, this post led to a bomb of mixed feelings. Some people strongly agreed with this post.
00:02:01.160 Other people strongly disagreed. One of Poliev's most prominent supporters,
00:02:05.640 Nicholas Bellinger, otherwise known as the pleb, had this to say.
00:02:09.180 The Elbozos aren't going to vote for you no matter what you say, 1.00
00:02:11.980 and all this post accomplishes is pissing off those who actually support you. 0.50
00:02:15.660 Sometimes tweeting nothing is better than tweeting something. This is one of those times.
00:02:19.820 Fire whoever told you to tweet this.
00:02:21.580 Meanwhile, the couple from the Hamilton podcast, Northern Perspective, had a different tone.
00:02:26.180 This is what they said.
00:02:27.480 Threatening another country's sovereignty crosses a clear line.
00:02:30.520 We oppose China threatening Taiwan for the same reason we oppose anyone threatening Greenland.
00:02:35.180 Sovereignty matters. Diplomacy and agreement are the way forward.
00:02:38.720 So it's pretty clear that Poliev supporters, they're not completely in line with this one.
00:02:42.740 However, I think Poliev made the right decision. It was a good strategic move,
00:02:46.860 and it was also the right thing to do. Now let me break that down.
00:02:49.960 Poliev calling out Trump and trying to separate himself from him is a very good move.
00:02:54.720 A lot of Canadians hate Trump, and they cited that as one of the main reasons they didn't vote for Poliev in the last election.
00:03:01.080 Separating himself from Trump was a wise move.
00:03:03.660 Poliev ought to do everything he can to separate himself from Trump and the minds of Canadians.
00:03:08.020 Poliev also showed the world that he has a moral backbone.
00:03:11.540 Not only is taking over Greenland by force not the most intelligent move, it is also morally wrong.
00:03:17.520 Trump claims that he needs Greenland for national security, quote-unquote, but that doesn't make any sense.
00:03:23.500 The United States already has a base on Greenland, and they could build many more if they want to, under an existing treaty with Denmark.
00:03:30.400 On top of that, China is currently busy with Taiwan, and Russia is currently busy with Ukraine.
00:03:36.620 Neither of those countries have plans to invade Greenland, at least not in the near future.
00:03:40.760 And even if China and Russia did attack Greenland, it's still covered under NATO, which means an attack would trigger Article 5, and NATO countries would come to its rescue.
00:03:50.280 So some people have speculated that Donald Trump wants Greenland for a completely different reason.
00:03:54.560 Critical minerals, specifically rare earth minerals.
00:03:57.620 The only problem with that is that Denmark is not opposed to American companies going there and mining for resources.
00:04:03.580 The problem with mining for resources in Greenland is that it's obviously very cold, it's very remote, and it would be too expensive to develop those resources,
00:04:12.200 especially when there's places in the world where you can get those resources for a lot cheaper.
00:04:16.360 Now I want to stress that taking over Greenland by force, or even buying it, simply doesn't make any sense.
00:04:23.360 Donald Trump risks alienating his allies in Europe for no benefit to the American people.
00:04:28.440 Now I want to remind you that both Canada and Europe, the European Union, are America's largest trading partners.
00:04:35.880 So fighting both at the same time simply is not a good idea.
00:04:39.460 If Trump continues this bad behavior, America will soon become a prized state like Russia.
00:04:44.660 And maybe that's what he wants, but that's definitely not what America needs right now.
00:04:48.540 All Donald Trump is doing right now is pushing people away from the United States and pushing them towards other partners.
00:04:54.640 What I find interesting is that Trump supporters are against funding the war in Ukraine because they don't think that Russian expansionism is a big threat
00:05:02.360 and that tax money could be better used domestically.
00:05:05.520 Now these same exact people are advocating for taking Greenland by force because they see Russian expansionism as a threat
00:05:11.680 and believe their tax money would be better used overseas.
00:05:15.220 Help me clarify this, which one is it?
00:05:17.660 Do Trump supporters believe that Russian expansionism is a threat, or do they believe it's not a threat? 0.94
00:05:23.160 Because if they believe that Russian expansionism is a threat, they should support sending money and weapons to Ukraine. 0.88
00:05:30.240 Because if you want to deal with Russia, the best place to deal with Russia is in Ukraine. 0.92
00:05:35.000 Likewise, if Americans think that tax money should be used at home and not in overseas conflicts,
00:05:42.360 then Trump supporters should be calling Trump out and saying,
00:05:45.160 hey, stay away from Greenland and use that money to help Americans and put Americans first. 0.63
00:05:50.720 Considering the ongoing problems in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Chicago right now,
00:05:56.180 America should really focus on cleaning up its own problems, cleaning up its own territory, before trying to seize more territory. 0.98
00:06:03.560 Now my analysis is that Donald Trump is doing this for two reasons.
00:06:06.740 One, defeat his ego.
00:06:08.640 Number two, distract away from the Epstein files.
00:06:11.880 I don't know what's in those Epstein files, but it's becoming pretty clear that the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump ran a lot deeper.
00:06:19.080 They were a lot closer than anyone previously knew.
00:06:22.440 And that's pretty scary.
00:06:24.040 Since becoming president, Donald Trump has branded Mar-a-Lago the Southern White House.
00:06:30.120 But in the 90s, Mar-a-Lago was Trump's South Florida party palace, one frequented by Jeffrey Epstein, who was facing charges for sex trafficking.
00:06:40.040 He has pleaded not guilty.
00:06:41.820 The president says his relationship with Epstein was no different than anyone else in their elite circle.
00:06:47.680 Well, I knew him like everybody in Palm Beach knew him.
00:06:50.380 He was a fixture in Palm Beach.
00:06:52.140 I don't think I've spoken to him for 15 years.
00:06:54.380 Yet, a tape in the NBC archives of a Mar-a-Lago party shows Trump giving Epstein his personal attention.
00:07:02.380 Donald!
00:07:03.220 Donald!
00:07:04.040 Donald!
00:07:04.520 The footage, shot in November of 1992, before Trump opened the resort as a club, shows the future president surrounded by cheerleaders for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, capturing Trump's fun-loving bachelor lifestyle for an appearance on Faith Daniels' NBC talk show.
00:07:24.080 We're going to get great ratings on your show.
00:07:25.680 After a while, Trump goes to greet three new guests, among them the financier Jeffrey Epstein.
00:07:32.920 But back to Polyev, I'm really glad he had the moral backbone to call Trump out, and I'd like to see more of this.
00:07:38.600 If Polyev wants to win a federal election, which I believe he will, he needs to start ripping apart Donald Trump, because the majority of Canadians don't like Trump.
00:07:47.440 Now, if you're a conservative and you want Polyev to win an election like I do, you've got to get behind me in asking for this.
00:07:53.940 Screw Trump.
00:07:54.660 We're going to put Canada first. 0.92
00:07:56.360 And that means we're going to have a leader that calls out Trump when he goes too far.
00:08:00.420 So when Trump starts a trade war with us, he's going too far.
00:08:03.480 When he talks about annexing our country, he's going too far.
00:08:06.340 When he's talking about using the military to invade our allies or next-door neighbor, he's going too far.
00:08:12.200 And Polyev needs to start calling it out.
00:08:14.260 Now, like I said before, I'm still hoping for a blue summer.
00:08:16.880 And I think we could still get it as long as Donald Trump settles down.
00:08:20.800 Whether or not that will happen, we'll have to see.
00:08:23.380 Just have a bit of faith.
00:08:24.800 Have a bit of patience.
00:08:25.980 We're still going to win.
00:08:27.240 And we're still going to win really big.
00:08:28.660 It might just take a little bit longer than we previously expected.
00:08:31.840 Thanks for tuning in.
00:08:32.980 I love you all.
00:08:33.980 Talk to you tomorrow, Patriots.
