00:00:00.000 I have some good news tonight and some bad news.
00:00:02.760 The bad news is that the crime of extortion is skyrocketing in Canada.
00:00:06.900 The good news?
00:00:08.060 Conservative Party leader Pierre Polyev has a plan to fight back.
00:00:11.100 Polyev has made it one of his central talking points to blame the Liberals for Canada's crime problems.
00:00:16.400 That was true in the last election, and it's true now.
00:00:19.200 Conservative parties all over the world are known for being tough on crime,
00:00:23.080 or at least much tougher on crime than their Liberal counterparts.
00:00:26.020 One of the facts that Polyev often cites is the fact that the crime of extortion has skyrocketed since Justin Trudeau took office in 2015.
00:00:34.160 Now, the left might disagree with him on this, but contrary to what they say, Polyev's facts are solid on this one.
00:00:40.420 But just a refresher, what is extortion anyway?
00:00:43.360 According to the Criminal Code of Canada,
00:00:45.520 everyone commits extortion who, with intent to obtain anything by threats or violence,
00:00:50.440 induces or attempts to induce any person to do anything or cause anything to be done.
00:00:54.980 So in layman's terms, extortion is using violence or threats to make somebody do something,
00:00:59.940 usually pay a sum of money.
00:01:01.680 If you ever watch those crime movies where the mobster goes to some store and says,
00:01:05.780 pay us some money or bad things are going to happen, that's extortion.
00:01:10.500 However, extortion is not something you just read about in books or see on TV.
00:01:14.960 It's something that's very real, and it happens almost every single day in Canada.
00:01:19.420 I'll give you an example right here.
00:01:20.980 Extortion threats have many Calgarians on edge, and thinking twice before answering the phone.
00:01:27.240 Police say the crime is growing, with dozens of cases now under investigation,
00:01:31.440 including several involving gunfire.
00:01:34.000 Last night, victims, community leaders and law enforcement came together in the Northeast,
00:01:38.720 searching for answers and action.
00:01:40.880 Here's Mark Villani.
00:01:41.500 It's a phone call that gave this Calgary man nightmares.
00:01:45.700 An international number reached him over WhatsApp, demanding thousands of dollars.
00:01:50.640 CTV News is protecting his identity after threats were made against his child.
00:01:55.620 They mentioned my younger son, that they have seen him twice.
00:01:58.740 He's a great kid.
00:02:00.860 It was shocking to me, to be honest.
00:02:02.740 Shocking, but not uncommon.
00:02:05.020 Calgary police are investigating 21 extortion cases, 11 involving shootings.
00:02:10.280 A CPS town hall meeting Thursday night saw more victims of these threats walk through
00:02:16.580 the doors of the Dashmesh Culture Center.
00:02:18.880 So as you saw right there, innocent people in Calgary, just minding their own business,
00:02:22.420 living their lives, are getting threatening phone calls.
00:02:25.540 People are telling them, pay up, or you're going to get hurt.
00:02:28.880 And that's extortion.
00:02:29.940 The scary part is that this crime is not isolated.
00:02:32.700 It's not isolated just to Calgary.
00:02:34.280 It's happening literally all over the country.
00:02:36.240 And yes, a lot of people committing these crimes are either immigrants, or people lying to
00:02:40.500 international crime syndicates.
00:02:42.280 It is a fact that extortion has skyrocketed in this country since Trudeau took office.
00:02:46.600 And you can make a strong argument that as the leader of the country, he shares at least
00:02:50.200 some of the blame for allowing that to happen.
00:02:52.280 According to Statistics Canada, in 2014, extortion was reported at 9 cases per 100,000
00:02:57.540 people.
00:02:58.480 10 years later, in 2024, extortion was reported at 32 cases per 100,000 people.
00:03:03.700 That's a 355% increase since Trudeau was first elected.
00:03:08.060 The good news in all of this is that Polyev, he's got a plan to keep Canadians safe.
00:03:12.620 He released a short statement today on X.
00:03:15.020 Let's read it.
00:03:15.700 If non-citizens and asylum claimants choose to violate the trust of Canadians by committing
00:03:20.000 extortion and other serious crimes, they must be forced to leave our country.
00:03:23.840 And in my opinion, that's a pretty straightforward, no-nonsense approach to the issue.
00:03:28.300 One of the worst things you can do when you're a guest in another country, besides raping or
00:03:33.520 killing someone, is extorting the native-born citizens out of their hard-earned money.
00:03:38.140 So let's take a quick look at what other Canadians had to say about this.
00:03:41.220 Truck driver Pleb had some strong words on this issue.
00:03:44.120 He's one of Polyev's most prominent supporters on both X and YouTube.
00:03:47.900 Here's what he had to say.
00:03:49.040 Here Polyev just said the magic word, let's effing go.
00:03:52.360 Now I assume the magic word he was referring to was deportations.
00:03:56.920 And that makes sense because a lot of people, most people that support Polyev, are very keen
00:04:01.060 in reducing the amount of legal immigrants in this country.
00:04:03.960 Other conservative commentators had similar responses and were mostly in line with what
00:04:08.060 Pleb said.
00:04:09.180 However, the left, they didn't like Polyev's statements and they described them as Trump-like.
00:04:13.820 Because of course, any mention of immigration, no matter how hard or how soft, no matter how
00:04:19.680 balanced or unbalanced, it must be like Trump, right?
00:04:23.400 It must be straight out of Trump's playbook, right?
00:04:26.220 The fact of the matter is that Canada is one of the few countries, the only country that I know of,
00:04:30.660 where people can come here and they can have their sentences reduced after they've been convicted
00:04:35.580 so they can stay in the country.
00:04:37.240 Now if immigrants went to a country like Russia, Germany, or Japan and tried the same thing,
00:04:42.120 they would be immediately deported.
00:04:44.060 And that's after serving a long jail sentence.
00:04:46.360 Of course, and I want to make this really clear,
00:04:48.340 not all immigrants are criminals.
00:04:50.780 I just want to throw that out there.
00:04:52.320 Partially because YouTube has rules,
00:04:54.840 but I also don't want people to hate immigrants and blame immigrants for all of our problems.
00:04:59.760 That's not fair.
00:05:00.660 But it is my opinion, and I stand by this opinion,
00:05:03.760 that Canada should get tougher on immigrants that come here
00:05:06.160 and choose to commit crimes, especially serious crimes.
00:05:09.720 It's not fair to the immigrants that come here legally,
00:05:12.600 work hard, and add value to our society.
00:05:14.780 And like they say, mercy on criminals is cruelty to victims.
00:05:19.200 But I also want to stress, I don't advocate for creating something like ICE in Canada.
00:05:22.820 I believe most Canadians wouldn't support that.
00:05:25.240 Yes, we do need to get tough on immigrants,
00:05:27.460 but we don't need what we're seeing down south, especially in Minnesota,
00:05:31.340 where you got these armed police officers harassing people at fast food restaurants
00:05:35.480 and shooting protesters.
00:05:37.140 We don't need that.
00:05:37.980 However, I'm a big advocate of cracking down on extortion
00:05:40.460 with longer sentences and more enforcement.
00:05:43.660 If that includes rounding people up, putting them in prison,
00:05:46.540 and then immediately deporting them, that's what we need to do.
00:05:49.540 You might not know this, but Canada has a massive backlog
00:05:52.100 of people that have either been deported or have overstayed their visas,
00:05:56.340 and they haven't left the country.
00:05:58.400 And what makes it worse is that we simply don't have the resources to keep up with them.
00:06:02.720 This is why I'm really glad Pauliev brought this up.
00:06:05.580 I commend him for that.
00:06:06.560 I've always said that Pauliev can win the next election,
00:06:08.560 but he needs to be narrowly focused on issues that Canadians actually care about
00:06:13.220 and issues that he can do something about.
00:06:16.000 Canadians want lower income taxes.
00:06:18.660 They want crime reform, and they want immigration reform.
00:06:22.260 A lot of conservatives on social media, they push some pretty wacky ideas,
00:06:26.460 but I think Pauliev should ignore that and focus on what I just said.
00:06:29.960 Personally, I always try to advocate for policies that would make Canada a better place,
00:06:33.380 and I think we can all agree that getting tough on crime,
00:06:36.420 especially serious criminals, is the way to go.
00:06:39.160 That's something that would make Canada better.
00:06:41.320 Now let's take a look at another recent extortion case,
00:06:43.960 this time out of British Columbia.
00:06:45.240 These demonstrators say they are frustrated by ongoing extortion-related violence.
00:06:53.820 We are standing here in a rain to just asking and requesting our governments,
00:07:02.540 all three-level governments, please address this issue very seriously.
00:07:07.480 They have to protect not only the people who live there, also the business.
00:07:13.520 This rally comes just one day after this home on Crescent Road near 132nd Street was shot up,
00:07:20.060 and a small fire was ignited by the fence.
00:07:23.200 Officers on patrol found an abandoned suspect vehicle.
00:07:27.220 Police say the suspect got into a rideshare vehicle and was stopped about 20 minutes later.
00:07:32.420 All three are foreign nationals.
00:07:34.540 We're still working to confirm some of those details,
00:07:38.240 and it's our understanding that CBSA have now started their own independent investigation into their status in Canada.
00:07:44.540 Surrey police announcing 21-year-old Hardat Singh, 19-year-old Taranveer Singh,
00:07:50.640 and 21-year-old Dayajit Singh billing have all been charged with one count of discharging a firearm.
00:07:56.440 That's the perfect example right here, and I have the perfect solution for these three thugs.
00:08:02.160 Deport, deport, and, you guessed it, deport right away.
00:08:07.820 That's what needs to happen.
00:08:09.580 Canada needs to show the rest of the world, we need to show these thugs that
00:08:13.060 we are not the place where you come and commit crime.
00:08:16.000 We're not going to accept it.
00:08:17.620 Maybe we accept it under Trudeau.
00:08:19.720 Maybe we're going to accept it a little bit under Carney.
00:08:21.940 But eventually, we're going to get Polyev in office, and that will not be accepted.
00:08:26.780 And if you try to test us on it, you're going to learn.
00:08:29.740 F-A-F-O.
00:08:31.400 The fact that I even need to say this in a video is troubling.
00:08:34.820 That's why I like Polyev.
00:08:36.100 He's common sense, and it's not just these policies.
00:08:38.840 He's got a lot of common sense policies.
00:08:41.180 There's a lot to like about the guy.
00:08:43.080 Of course, there's certain things he says, certain things he does,
00:08:45.720 I don't necessarily agree with, but 80-90% of the time, I'm on his side.
00:08:50.480 Immediate deportations of people convicted of serious crimes make it harder to get in
00:08:55.540 the country in the first place.
00:08:56.840 Weed out the bad apples.
00:08:58.520 And if you're a native-born Canadian, someone who actually has your papers,
00:09:02.800 and you're a repeat violent offender, you get long jail sentences, and in some cases, life.
00:09:09.580 There's some people where they're so far gone, they're so damaged,
00:09:13.100 that there's not much we can do, and they don't deserve to be active members of society.
00:09:17.780 It's sad, but that's the way it has to be.
00:09:19.760 And I don't think anybody can make a strong argument against that, except for
00:09:22.940 criminals, and maybe some liberal politicians who are also criminals.
00:09:28.680 So add to that with a reduction of government spending, and some deep income tax cuts,
00:09:33.940 and we have the start of a great platform for the next election.
00:09:38.040 I'm all about those tax cuts.
00:09:39.680 Any conservative that says they don't want deep income tax cuts, I'd dote if they're a real
00:09:44.920 conservative.
00:09:45.660 So like I said before, I'll say it again.
00:09:47.180 I'm still predicting Pauliel will be the next Prime Minister of Canada.
00:09:50.480 And if we're lucky, it could happen sooner rather than later.
00:09:54.060 I still got my eyes on a blue summer.
00:09:56.080 Also, while we're here, I'd like to introduce you to my new plan.
00:10:00.240 Hope you like it.
00:10:01.180 Thanks for tuning in.
00:10:02.460 I love you all.
00:10:03.660 Have a great night.
00:10:04.780 Talk to you tomorrow, patriots.
